I'm excusing myself from this thread now. This is making me sick. I can't believe I even responded in the first place and that's what is disappointing me the most.

I hope this gets figured out. I hate to know that Krista is leaving gaia (possibly for good) because of this and I hate to know that we're all fighting and just creating more hurt for so many other peoeple who just read this.

She's seriously concidering it. The stress has just gotten to her.

As of now the only posts I make in this thread will be on behalf of others. I hate that it came to this. I know that Iwas fairly blunt about any problems I had, here or in IM. If you want something posted or aired out but don't want to do it yourself PM me and I'll wuote it anonymously. Other than that, I'm out.

I think it's my turn. And yes, screw the false name.

For a long time, I waited and watched in HQ BEFORE I was given Sire. I've seen a lot of the Fa'e grow up, and watched a lot of things occur. When I first recieved Sire, I was so eager to jump into everything, copy everything. This is what that person waaaay back on page two meant by "Neith's not the only one". I admit I copied ideas, because I had a serious lack of my own. Over time, it was clear that this was unfavorable to some Guardians - and I was called on it via being approached on AIM. I was just a little bitter. But I learned. Some people just take a little longer to learn than others.

I really don't think it's necessary to take someone's Fa'e away from them if there's a bit of a dip in the learning curve. Personally, I am a little miffed with Kia myself, but there are much more important things for me to be worried with. I have just tried to avoid her due to those things - then I came to realize that she was in the same boat I had been. We're all on the same lake here - just in different boats. People make mistakes. Sometimes they make them over and over again - sometimes once is enough. I think that all this Kia/Neith-bashing has gone just a bit too far. Sure, I'd like to see everyone get along. But this isn't going to solve anything. It's time something was done - but taking away someone's CHILD from them [as we all must agree, our Fa'e is closer to us than a mere "companion"] is totally unacceptable unless a SEVERE offense is done - I.E. Kia going on a killing spree - which hasn't happened yet.

From where I stand - which is rather in the shadows, because I STILL am pretty new - I say Neith should be given a few weeks ban from the shop to mull things over. NOT have her Fa'e completely taken away. Like I said - it just takes a little more for some people to learn - myself included. I will personally approach her tonight on AIM with a list of faults that I see. Once explinations are given, I'll have a much better idea of where I stand. But as it is now - my vote lays in the temprary ban - not the removal. Thank you.

*reads this then curls up in a ball*

Oh dear God ... what a mess.

*pulls pillow over her head*

...

*pokes head from under the pillow*

crying I AM VERY SORRY crying THIS IS ALL MY FAULT crying

I should have worried about you guys getting along with each other this summer instead of trying to draw all the teens. Really, in retrospect it seems far more important. Maybe I could have prevented this situation. And I am sorry for giving you all so much RP and story freedom. I suppose I should have restricted that, too. I just thought that you guys were mature enough to stay away from godmodding and whining and ... various other vices. But reading this thread it seems like Fa'e need some RP guidance after all.

Seriously, if you WANT me to impliment all these rules and punishments and what not, and create rigid point system or whatever else you guys are suggesting - we can do that, I guess. But it's not my thing. It will take my time away from drawing. And I understand Lenore or Eirnae could do that ... but I feel that it is a lot of ungrateful and boring work for ANYONE to handle.

I have been trying to NOT burn on Fa'e very hard for the past few months. It comes in it's ups and downs. Currently, it's very down. I really like the concept of the Fa'e and I like the Guardians. But this has become an ugly, ugly thing. Yes, I authorized this, but I didn't expect it all to turn out so nasty and vicious. I don't think I want to be part of this anymore.

*hides under her pillow again*

Anya, this is not your fault. I don't think ANYONE could foresee the emotions stirred up in this thread.

Perhaps next time there's a problem with a guardian, it can be handled in a much more private and non-aggressive manner. I'm sorry, but whoever came up with the idea of an open, anonymous forum was dead wrong. This hasn't solved anything so far, that I can see. It's only made matters worse.

Yeah, it's ugly... but you know what? People... FAMILIES... have ugly times too. It's part of being human. You get any large group together, conflicts are going to happen. It's in our nature.

So it happens. But you know what? They happen, and then the people involved get through the conflict.

We can get through this. Maybe not unscathed, but hopefully unscarred and whole.

I firmly believe the time for pointing fingers and delivering accusations, be they true or not, is past.

We are a family. We will have sibling squabbles from time to time. It's normal. Yes, this is a big one, bigger than normal, but I firmly believe it's not impossible to heal! While modding on Gaia I have seen TINY things tear groups to shreds. I have seen groups heal amazing wounds I would have thought fatal, because people had the strength to stand up, to forgive, and to make a supreme effort.

I know I'm also very much an optimist, and I always will be. I also believe in you, in EVERY DAMN ONE OF YOU, from Anya down to Jiora (the newest Guardian). Yes, this includes Neith.

Neith did some things she shouldn't have done. A lot of things.

We've all done those. Maybe not in the Fa'e arena, but we all have. That doesn't make it right, or okay, but it does mean we have common ground. There is no holier-than-thou here.

It's time to bind together and figure out compromises. Create solutions. We have the problem, now let's work, all of us, to patch up this rift, lest it break us apart.

Riven and I will be here until the damn bitter end, if nothing else.

Anya, this is not your fault. I think all of us who haven't dealt with problems when they happen rather than shoving stuff under the rug have to bear some of the responsibility.

The thing is, a lot of us have done attention-whoring stuff, modified ideas for our own use, made mistakes. I think that it's all built up, and because Neith has been very visible and loud about it at times ... she got all of it.

While I've been annoyed at her now and then, and I don't deny she's been nasty to people, hell, so have we all been nasty to people in our weak moments. It's a mess. It's a big mess. Problems need to be dealt with in person, when they happen, rather than simmering about it and getting angrier and angrier.

We're all people. All of us have feelings. All of us make mistakes. I don't want the game to end. I love the game itself, and I hope there's a way to repair the relations between all of us as players.

I agree with Youko - and I'd like to add something. This is not Anya's fault. It is each and every one of us that have held back and simmered silently. Problems with Neith should be taken to Neith - not whispered among the rest of the Guardians behind a false name, and behind someone's back.

While we're on the subject, let's remember our OWN flaws. It's like I said before - people make mistakes. And that includes all of us. Neith just happens to be the straw that broke the camel's back.

I personally invite anyone that has had problems with me - past, present, or future, to adress them to me now - via AIM or here. As long as we're bashing, let's not leave out anyone, ne?

This is a mess - and we have no one but ourselves to blame.

It could be a good idea, also, to set up a system of conflict resolution, formal or informal, through which people can try to resolve problems if they can't find a way to do it all themselves. Sometimes an outside viewpoint can be invaluable in helping settle problems.

[edit] *points at Sosi* What she said. I intend to hang in here and try to keep it going. I'm willing to help and willing to try.

Yes. While I don't feel we need rules codifying plotlines as it were - we don't want to be too rigid, the freedom to plot within metaplot guidelines has always been one of myf avorite things - a few rules here and there to help resolve conflicts before they escalate to this level would be a good thing.

I would be happy to offer myself as a judge when such matters come up. It's not like modding is anything I'm a stranger too, heh. We don't want to stress out Anya. *hugs her*

... could the sherrifs act as mediators for these disputes? have they in the past? i know they are there to help newcomers to the thread...

I also wouldn't mind being a judge to help settle disputes. I'm generally able to stay neautral when I have to be... and I've wanted to be a Gaia mod for over a year now, so, that counts for something, eh? ^^;

I'm pretty sure Moderating the thread is part of the point of Sheriffs.

Unless a punishment system is worked out, there's not anything more the sheriffs can do but listen and offere suggestions. People have complained to me before about Neith, and I've told them everything I could suggest, including blocking her from there AIM name. ANd I've talked to Neith, asking her to caln down, quit arguing everytime someone gives her a suggestion, and not to badger people.

They are only temporary fixes. Something else happens that gets Neith upset (whether is be legitamately OR not, there have been cases of both), and the whole things starts over again. People don;t block her... so they argue back, get offended and insulted, etc. Vicious cycle.

To me, I can hear someone rant and steam and argue for hours and it doesn't get to me. To other people it drives them insane. I think this is one of the biggest problems.

If there was an actual rules-and-punishment procedure that could be hammared down, the sheriffs could do much more.
