I was twelve once. In 2003. You were nine then. I was never nine. Year 2000 didn't REALLY exist.

You know what's weird?
Kids who are currently between the ages of 0 and 8 most likely won't have a memory of September 11th
It seems like a thing that's the defining moment of hte decade and everyone will remember it and stuff
But there was a 7-year-old in a show I was just in to whom the date September 11th didn't even mean anything
I'm not a big "oh noes those stupid terrorists" person, but I do remember that day vividly, and it's just so bizarre that there are kids who will have no memory of that, just like they'll have probably never listened to a cassette tape or watched Peewee's Playhouse or played with pogs or worn a side ponytail

I remember the day from start to finish, but not with times. Woke up before anyone else, got dressed, went to eat breakfast, Marisa came out to the dining room, she at breakfast, she finished just after grandma came upstairs, grandma turned the TV on, said, "Oh my god, what is this?", Marisa went over to look, I finished my breakfast and went over to look, grandpa came upstairs and came to look, we watched the smoke and stuff for a long time, I didn't understand what this meant, I saw an airplane appear on the screen, then there was a big explosion when it ran into the building that hadn't been hit at all, I now knew what was going on, I was kinda scared, we kept watching, blahblahblah the rest of the day wasn't all that thrilling. Anyway, yeah, it's kinda pathetic, the lack of past that exists today. For instance, not one of my friends could tell you what year the first Apple Computer was sold (1965), and nobody remembers the day George Harrison died. (I do, but it was another school day, and that was before I got into the Beatles)
Between our lack of both knowledge of our recent history and memory of our early lives, we're a pretty pathetic lot.

I never did two of those...... But it's weird to think about the fact that, for those kids, September 11th will be like the Gulf War was for us.

But, of course, there are always those select few that actually are interested in their past, like me. I'm no ordinary 18-year-old. Because of my brother I'm into ancient RPGs, ancient anime, and a lot of other ancient stuff. Actually, to me, you guys are the wierd generation that doesn't know about certain things that I have in my past. But the world will only keep changing, and you just gotta try to keep up as much as you can, until one day you wake up an old man/woman, and realize you can't keep up anymore, and all you have is your memories left to comfort you. sad I can just picture me in 40 or 50 years. I'm just gonna be thinking of how I used to get on computers and talk to friends on Gaia, while the young people try out their new virtual internet, or something, and Gaia will only be a memory. It brings me to tears. crying (Well, not really, 'cause I don't cry. I'm a monster. I don't understand it myself, but that's another story... sweatdrop )
