That's too bad. So the Culp people that came there to work are now going to be out again, but now on a normal unemployment I suppose? That is really lousy luck for them. That's why I'm not rushing into a new job. I've paid into unemployment a long time & used little of it since getting on that Sample Warper. I want to get some of those TAA benefits! Even if all I do is take the 5-week course for getting started, that would teach me new computer skills, might improve my typing somewhat, and give me 5 weeks to also job search at my leisure, not pressured to find 2 contacts a week. Same goes if I go ahead & take some more schooling.

I had a cow when I saw what the COBRA payments would be to continue my insurance coverage. OVER $300 A MONTH!! scream That is crazy! For a family it would be over $1000!! How do they think people on unemployment are going to pay that??

Here's info about the TAA, by the way. You may need it too some day. Make sure Chambers gets you these benefits!

Well, I went to the ESC yesterday & filled out the paperwork to get into TAA. There is a Tax Credit thing that will pay 65% of your COBRA payments, too, for as long as you're in school.
Last evening I applied online on the ESC site for Unemployment. It's pretty cool that you can do that, and report your work contacts, and search the job listings, all at your own computer now. It's bound to cut down on the overcrowding at the ESC offices. I remembered the Burlington office as very crowded & unfriendly years ago, but it has improved a lot.

i think all esc offices are the same stuffy and crowded its a good thing you can do that on the computer now i used to hate having to go down there every few weeks and show them my job hunt sheet when there was really nobody hiring in my area at that time sad

No, some of the newer offices are much better.
Hillsborough has a really good office even though it's small. It's well laid out & the staff are friendly & actually care about helping you.

That's the only reason I can think of that he would run out on such benefits--he knew he'd be caught if he tried to apply for them.

Right now I'm taking some time to visit my parents in the mountains, so it just feels like vacation. When I'm home it does feel weird & purposeless. sad I'm working on my deck gardens this year to keep busy.
