(( Almost two weeks later... ))
With her teeny tiny heart beating so hard that Locke could probably feel the vibrations in his tail, Yaraif stared wild-eyed at the Cait and his familiar.
"Oh great. Another little bug."
The terror apparent moments ago all but vanished. Leaping to her feet, she shreiked at the fox, "Shesheske! Yauf ene...BUG! Yauf KUN!" A stream of Kunkunese oaths flowed from the angered Yaraif, her face livid with malice. She shook a miniture fist at Shippou for all she was worth.

For a brief moment Shippou was taken aback at the mighty furry in Yaraif's words. Then reality dawned on him & he was embarased that the little creature started him so. Luckily the quick flush was probably hidden beneath his red fur. Regaining his composure he began to laugh, snickering behind his tail from time to time. "Yauf isn't a bug, huh? ooo! Upset you did I, little kunkun? Aw. Poor thing." "Cut it out, Shippou." Locke frowned at his familiar. This was mean. Uncaracteristally mean. Even for the fox. "Yaraif is ...ah... sensitive. It's not used to the way you pick on Tien." The cait's eyes softened as he turned them to the Easter kun. "He doesn't mean anything by it, Yaraif. It's part of Shippou's way of playing." "Yaraif? Not Yauf? The thing can't even say it's own name right?" Locke ignored his familiar. The noise finally woke Tien who could only see the back of its new pelae as she brandished her fist in anger. Eyes widening Tien wondered what it could do. It knew there would be a risk using Shippou's tail. But it was the comfiest place to sleep that the kun knew of. The tiny kun's mind whirled. This was more than it could think through to handle. Tien held its head in its hands, shaking it back & forth. "Ihi erenede. Ihi erenede."

Yaraif looked stunned. She'd never met anyone so...mean! She whimpered softly, and slowly backed away. Tiny, hurt tears welled up in her eyes, despite Locke's comforting words.

Shippou realized that the kun was not taking his words as the joke he ment them to be. Seeing the strange little kunkun's violet eyes fill with tears his own eyes softtened slightly. "Ah, come on now." Nervously the fox pawed the ground & broke eye contact, uncomfortable with this unexpected change of feeling. "Don't take it like that. You little bugs... ah, I mean kuns are all right. I was just joshing, ya know?" With a soft look that he rarely shows, Shippou checked to see how Yaraif would take this in. Locke meanwhile stared in flabergasted disbelief at his familiar, unable to form as much as a thought in his head.

Her eyes overflowed. Yaraif rubbed them away, still sniffling and shuddering. Then she lowered her tiny fists and looked the kit right in the eye. Her expression was unreadable.

Gulping quietly, the little fox does not know what has come over him. Since when do I care what a little bug thinks of me? Tien meanwhile has reached its own decision. Flying between them resolutely it swats Shippou directly on the nose, scolding him harshly. "Shesheke! Malv foxie! Malv!" Stunned, Shippou rubs his noseas Tien goes to its friend. "Iktet... ero teln iktet. Shippou tail teln com-fy-est-est dormir...teln! Teln!"

"Ene teln iktet..." Yaraif said to Tien, rubbing her eyes again. "San ene malv." She glanced at Shippou broken-heartedly.
Then her miserable expression completely melted away, replaced by a perky smile. "...Foxie orange. Pretty oraaaaange."

Orange? Did it just call me orange? Between Tien hitting him on the noxe, which hurt much more than Shippou would have thought possible, and Yaraif's abrupt change of mood the little fox's head was reeling too fast to retort with any type of quirky reply. He was much too stunned for any reply for that matter. Locke on the other hand finally seemed to be unstuck. The green cait was laughing merrilly as he pointed first at Shippou, then Tien, back to Shipoou, then to Yaraif. The little fox could only glower at him. "Ene teln iktet?" Tien was slightly confussed. If it should not be sorry why did it feel so bad about all of this? Reigning in his laughter Locke managed to sit up briefly. "Yaraif, Shippou is a red fox. Orange is the color of pumpkins & jack'o lanterns." He could not be sure if she could understand him. His giggles still overwhelmed his speach.

Yaraif's perky smile weakened slightly when Locke burst into laughter. It sounded like he was trying to say something, but all she heard was chuckling and wheezing.
"Heke? Saa cowwur ene orange?" She looked at Tien, quirking an eyebrow.

Smiling at seeing her new friend not looking sad, even if only briefly, Tien nodded gaily. "Shippou teln red. Red ahm roses. Red ahm strawberries! Red ahm cherries!! Red ahm redhots!!! Red ahm Trel skirt!!!!" So gung ho on its color comparisons Tien did not pause to think that Yaraif had never seen Trelweny's skirt. It was just natural for Tien to go through things it liked and knew.

Yaraif nodded vigorously, understanding. She's seen red (( xd )) before. Strawberries, cherries, that vibrant color of paint she like to use...but...?
"Heke...Trel skirt? Heke saa?"

Tien stopped short. "Heke saa...? Heke saa!" Suddenly it understood. "San ene know Trel, san ene see aru skirt." Nodding to itself, happy that it had figured out that little mystery Tien rambled on. "Trel teln Tien's hu-man." The kun stretched the word out as it fumbled over the little used term. Normally Tien met new friends when Trelweny was around so this had never occured before. "Aru wears skirt here" Splaying its fingers out like the pleats of a skirt, Tien placed its hands along its waist. Trying to make her hands go all the way around like a skirt would the kun continued moving them around in its attempts. Its face began scrunching up in frustration. Locke meanwhile has curled into a ball to hide his face within the banded rings of his tail to muffle his laughter. "Good skirt, Tien. Good skirt." Staring on in wonder Shippou grumbles. "With another one around Tien will speak more kunkunese than ever."

"Hu-man?" Yaraif asked. She'd never heard that term before. She'd always referred to humans as Prolos...She tried to remember what that little white kun-kun, Olly, had called them. Opa Pelae? Yes, that was right. "Aru Opa Pelae?"
"Good skirt, Tien. Good skirt."
She continued to watch in amusement as Tien tried to show her what a skirt look like. Smiling sympathetically, she picked up a leaf and and wrapped it around her waist. "Like ihi?"
"With another one around Tien will speak more kunkunese than ever."
Though Yaraif hadn't completely undertood what the fox had said, Yaraif was tempted to stick her tongue out at him. Why'd he have to be so cynical, anyways?

Smiling wide Tien nods vigourously. "Sek! Aru opa pelae! Opa opa opa!" With each "opa" the kun shot up wards in the air until she was at Trelweny's height; about 5'6". Giggling to itself Tien floated back down in time to watch the Yaraif don the leaf skirt. "Sek! Sek!" "That's just right, Yaraif! Great skirt!" Nodding & beaming ear to ear the cait poked his head from where he hid in his tail. OH boy. what now? The red fox frowned to himself & hunched into a ball near Locke's tail. Stupid bugs... steal all of his attention from me. Cuter than me, louder than me. How can I compete?
((just some insight into Shippou's character. *grins* He wasn't always so kun-disliking you know!))

Yaraif beamed proudly. So, she'd been right about the skirt.
...Why didn't Prolo ever wear a skirt, anyway? This Trel person seemed far more interesting than her own opa pelae. And colorful, too. Prolo never wore red.
Noticing Shippou curling into an adorable fuzzy ball from the corner of her eye, Yaraif said, "Erje see Trel?"
