"Ground Troops. Against a Dragon. You're really bucking to lose your command. That scenario is gonna end so badly for your troops. Eh. Whatever floats your boat."

"For what goes up, must come down eventually, and then it becomes a battle for which we can win. That and your not looking very preturbed that an enemy is in our midist and in your territory at that."

"First off. We don't consider this our turf. We're patrolling for our employer. Second, whatever it is, its leaving. Away from us. A dragon is nasty buisness to take down, and I don't want to throw 5 Wyverns at one Dragon. We'd lose unless we got lucky. So, therefore, it's going away from us and is of little threat. What do you want us to do? Help you? Yeah right. Check with General Shiro if you want that."

"You flying types really annoy me, picking your battles when you want to, and leaving all the hard work to us."

About that time the first flight of 13 arrows struck all around the camp, the targets were random and no one was spared or shown lenancy. From downwind and at a good distance for longbows 13 humans stood wearing grass a brush on thier backs. The battalion commander grabbed his shiled from the side and held it up as the next incoming flight struck, it severly wounded his mount and he was forced to dismount and stay low to the ground underneath his sheild.

"It seems your patrols are not very effective in smashing the human resisitance. Aide, ride back to the battalion and gather up a patrol of volunteers, we'll grind these archers into the ground before noon, the rest of the battalion will march onto Inthe."

When there was no response of sir and the sound of movement the commander turned to see his aide struck by two arrows and slowly falling off the side of his mount. He cursed all humanity and moved in the direction of his battalion to do it himself. The last flight of arrows were buring heads and their targets were the tents that could be seen. With that the human archers left at a quick run disappearing over the next hill.

The sounds of steel clashing came from the direction of the withdrawing battalion, Humans on horseback were charging through the lines with crude lances made from saplings. They took heavy losses, but those that made it through kept on riding hard to put distance between the battalion and the wyvern camp.

The battalion commander was about 3/4's the distance to his battalion and shouting orders, but in the confusion that lasted for mere minutes they orders went unheard and the attack ended before he reached his men. He was furious for looking the fool in front of the wyvern riders

Tolly made the Inthe castle, and found it too be a little to quiet for his liking. He spent most the first 2 hours finishing the healing on his children, and made sure they were safely hidden away resting while he went to investigate the castle. The lower floors where elegant and a few of the larger more bulky tapestries still remained. The story they told in his eyes were of happier times, and offered a little reassurance to the weary king, as he walked the empty halls, that there was still hope alive if even embedded in the past.

Tolly returned to the hiding place and gave his children what he could find in the way of food. "Its not much, a few rats and mice, and some decent roots."

"Where do we go from here papa?" Tolly leaned back against the wall. "We will try to make our way back to Houka and then slip into the resistance headquaters from there." "We don't have a chance do we?" Yumiru's comment made Tolly grit his teeth. "There is always a chance Yumiru, because despite all darkness there are those whose shine as bright as the sun. From them hope festers on to grow through their actions, and eventually despair gives way to confidence and courage." "How long does that take to learn?" Hiyru questioned of his father. "That is trick, it can grow quickly, or it can take years. It depends how strong those are that fight the darkness, and how many are left to spread hope across the world." "Could we help spread the hope across the world papa?" Hiyru looked at his sister first then to tolly awaiting hsi answer to her question. Tolly smiled; "Sure ya can, but your gonna need to rest first, we'll leave here for Domachi tomorrow."

"We just took months coming fromt here and now were going back there?" Tolly shook his head; "Listen Hiyru, sometimes you half to be in the one place your enemy wouldn't think you'd go to, and sometimes that is their own back yard. Domachi is destoryed and desolate, the villages there occupied, and its citizens enslaved. The commanders there are far from the frontlines of the resistance and their guard is not as high as the provinces near the front lines. However if you desire a longer trip back we can go that way." Tolly pointed up towards the cieling. Yumiru looked up at the celing; "So we would go really high up, but won't that be dangerous for us?"

Tolly nodded; "For younglings like yourselves yes, for me its merely a spell away to do." "What about the doorway thing you mentioned back int he camp?" Tolly arched his eyebrow; "you shouldn't eavesdrop on conversations between adults Hiyru, but i'll let it go since it involved your lives as well. however it would only be good for about 2 minutes and about 200 leauges worth of travel." "Is there anyone nearby that could increase our numbers for protection or boost the time longer?" Tolly shook his head; "Yumiru your young body is the problem, it can go as far as I desire, but for you to stay in there longer then 2 mins would cause madness along with severe phyiscal damage." "What about the tower we saw when we landed here?" Tolly moved his head tot he side a bit to look out the window at the tower. "It is under the rule of an ally, but the protection spells are very strong. We would perish upon them trying to get through." "What if we asked to enter through the spells, I'm sure with them bing your ally they would let us in."

"We could, but I'm not sure if they are still there, and then there is little thing about sending the message; or have you forgotten how you were attacked in the small medow?" "Hiyru glared at yumiru; "It wasn't my idea papa, and I wanted to get as far away from there as possible after i smelled demons." Yumiru opened her mouth to retaliate, but Tolly shushed her and spoke sternly at Hiyru; "The past is exactly that past, and to berate somebody in the present with the past only serves to breed hate. Hate i will not tolerate between you two at this point in time, because we will all need to work together as one to make it to safety. Now get some rest, we have a long trip ahead of us no matter how we go to get to our next stop."

The two children huffed at one another and eventually got to sleep. Tolly used the time to hold the box again and look at it. Tolly sighed wondering if he would ever find the one this box was destined for befroe it was too late.

If Toleranth took a care and listened for a moment, he would hear trouble. Though it wasn't looking for him, but the people in trouble were looking for him.

It started with the swooping of thousands of wings, around the castle. Teams were deployed inside. Auren knew Toleranth was around here somewhere, and he intended to find him. The game was up, and there was a very, very pissed off Laos after him. Auren regarded the now-defunct collar and laughed, and disintigrated it with a word.

"Come on guys, I know he's around here somewhere. I can sense him." He grumbled that to his aides. "Sir, we've outpaced Laos' military by quite a bit. Current scout reports -- "

"How current?"

"As of two minutes ago."

"Alright. Continue."

"Current scout reports place Laos' military about forty leagues west of here, and are moving at the pace of 10 leagues an hour."

"They're pushing themselves, no?"

"Looks like it."

"Whatever. We'll be long gone and laughing at them by the time they get here. Perhaps I'll have time leave them a present. An incredibly virulent plague, spreads to true daemonic beings only, that'll do the trick. Or we could just prep the Gate Spell and leave." Auren mused. He would normally handle a lot of the reports himself, but there were enough Wyverns doing something that he needed to distribute tasks, and distribute he did. Auren then had it. "Captains, hold the fort down. I'll be back."

Auren felt a pull to Toleranth. He could feel it... and after walking through some hallways, he came upon the door that Toleranth was behind, and took a breath, before knocking swiftly.

The door creeked open from the knocking, there was a small light coming from within that flickered, Hiyru jerked the door the rest of the way open and Yumiru stood across the room holding a very lethal looking spear. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?"

((I'll get the harpy box lady to post either tonight or tomorrow, fear not.))

Tsuki looked to Ankhe as a necklace she wore began to glow blue.

"Dear, could you shadow over to the castle and see who is there? They should be friendly...unless the spells are faulty. Which is actually quite possible since the spells haven't been renewed since I died last...but....

"Anyway, I want you to -carefully- shadow over there and check whom it is. If you don't recognize at least one person I want you to come back and tell me. Don't engage in any contact unless you know for sure that they are friendly. Clear?"

"Crystal." Ankhe replied with a mock salute, "I'll be back before you know it Mum."

With that, Ankhe shadowed into the castle of Inthe.

Tsuki looked around her and decided that it was time to move out. Her portal could only be used to travel to one place, she had found, and the one place was going to be straight into the HQ of the Resistance. Tsuki would be the last to go through so that she could shut it down in case the Tower was taken by an enemy.

"Alright people, it's time to move out. I want all civilian refugees to go first, then the fighters, then anyone else. I will go last so that I may turn off the portal in the case of an invasion. Spread the word, we move in three hours."

Murmurs of acknowledgment could be heard throughout the room, Tsuki even heard a few people saying 'about time' under their breath.

She grinned, hopefully the portal could be reopened on their end though she doubted it. The magical artifact had fallen into disuse after her death and the spells around it had decayed quite a bit. In order to reconstruct them, it would take her several days possibly more. Tsuki had decided that she would only attempt it if it was truly necessary as it would leave her drained for quite some time.

-----

Ankhe traveled through the shadows and exited them without a sound. The hallway she had entered was quiet but she could sense living shadows somewhere in the castle. She slipped back into the shadows and spread her senses in an attempt to find the 'friendlies'.

the very same kind of spear poked lightly inot the back armor of Auren; "Exactly, answer my daughter for me, she is impatient with all the ruckus going on outside." The words came from behind and no doubt were Tolly's.

"Simple. A full siege force is coming this way. The Wyverns are camped around the place, but we're bugging out. We've been kicked out by Laos, obviously." Auren tore off the colar and disintigrated it with a spell. "I came to tell you it's time to get the hell out of here. Alhana and I have prepared a gate-spell. I'll hold it on this end, she'll hold it on her end, you step through, and you're in Pearle near the resistance base."

"It couldn't happen at a better time." Tolly turned around; "Hiyru, Yumiru, were leaving, and be quick about it for danger lurks in these walls." The youngsters came out of a room at the other end of the hall, and two illusions faded along with the light in the room they formly occupied.

"So where do you propose we open this gate at, thrid floor gates make for a rough tumble on the other end."
PostPosted: Thu May 10, 2007 8:00 pm

"Danger? Everything's been dead for days in here. Blame the Wyverns. I can open the gate anywhere you would like. Though outside is best. Its your call." Auren looked away as though listening to somebody. "Scouts put the siege force at the walls in no less then four hours. So we got time to screw around, but not much."

Nadira emerged from her rooms, her soft green eyes alive with surprise as she peered down the corridor.

She wore a gown of simple, supple, rose colored silk; Flowing easily over the contours of her shape and cinching just below her breasts. Her silvery hair was neatly combed, parted, and tied back with the exceptoin of two locks left free to frame her face. Her tiny dracling, Metta, was perched on her shoulder with her slender tail wrapped around Nadira's neck. Freya was just behind the girl, her bare blade gleaming. Freya was garbed in a green knee length tunic and tan leggings. Sensible clothes for moving easily and unseen through the forest.

Sounds of battle were clearly audible even from this far into the tower.
They shared a look and trotted down the hall towards the stairs.

Tsuki rubbed at her temples. It had been about an hour since she had ordered people to prepare for a relocation and problems had begun to arise almost immediately after.

Presently, a group of young men had gotten into an argument over some item of worth and were duking it out in front of her. Insults had been thrown, swords had been drawn and now they were fighting each other. It was raising so much noise that Tsuki wouldn't be surprised if some mistook it for sounds of actual battle.

"Alright, break it up." She shouted. The group wasn't showing any signs of stopping. She took a deep breath and attempted to count down from ten. She'd reached '7' when a bowl flew past her head; they were resorting to throwing things.

"Alright, that's IT." With that, she walked into the fray and began to disable them. Kicking behind knees, knocking the air out of anyone that tried to get back up, she calmly broke up the fighting. In one case going so far as to grab two men by the back of the head and crash their foreheads together.

Nadira and Freya had appeared a little bit before looking prepared to take on a small army by themselves.

Tsuki finished breaking up the fight and began to lecture them.

"We don't have time for petty fights. There is an army about four hours out that is coming to lay siege to this Tower and we have that much time to get all of you out. If I hear of anymore fighting or anything of the like then unpleasant things will happen to both the instigators and the participants. Do I make myself clear?!"

There was a round of sullen nods as ten or so young men went to go nurse their bruises.

"So, what brings you out here Freya, Nadira?"

((Faith, let's wait a bit before we bring armies in, okay?))

"Auren you can't be so lax as to not dectect the movement of shadows in the lower floors, pushing onto its enemy the light which I sense very easily, sense it and you'll understand what I'm talking about. As for heading outside, lets get started, the quicker the better, and the more we talk the more that siege army gets here. Last thing I need is a guilt trip cause your wyverns are stuck between a wall of soliders and this heap of rock."

Tolly waived his hand forward and his children started walking, but Tolly turned his head to ask Auren a question. "Did the squadron commander who rescued my children ever deliver my message to you?"
