Caroline laughs heartily. "Now wouldn't that be a bloody stroke of luck!" she exclaims. "And aye, we could. Ro's getting to be right graceful."

Rojiza tips her head at Aisrhan. She nods a bit, slowly. Of course she'd like to see Khevashi--her serpentine friend's younger brother is adorable. But somehow she doesn't think that's the reason for Ais' sudden desire to go play with him.

[She's perhaps a wee bit dense. xD]

As the mood shifted, Leax relaxed. Lorelei relaxed a little, as well, when she felt her lover's grip soften and heard Vanna's whimpers subside.

"She's moving away," Leax murmured, as if she couldn't tell. Lorelei smiled, faintly, for him, and the family settled back down.

While waiting for Anezka to come forward with her answer, Oqaia decided to deal with a piece of business on her own. There was a matter she had taken charge of. It was she who sidled up next to Irina, who had waited so patiently.

"Irina... there's something I can't explain now, but will have to do... after the ceremony. But suffice it to say, the meij has done something... unknown, by changing a fosterless Fortunette animal into an infant so readily. And... well, something else has happened in the change. The meij must be confused. Or- something must be wrong." She was babbling. She was not nearly so good at this as Valelldia.

"Your wagon is the only place it will be safe. ...She. He." She shook her head. "I'll explain later. But for now- please, will you take this child?" Finally, Oqaia showed what was in the basket she had brought to the proceedings. It was a babe- a little goat child.

"...His... name is Eerie." The babe looked up at Irina- and gurgled.

((Godmodding ftw XD Sorry Maeko, want to move things along. <3 Hope y'don't mind!))

Before the rabbit child could go to fetch one of her Banyas, Hadassah came flying into the circle. Valelldia only nodded, her head upturned to something- maybe the sky... maybe the meij. Oqaia looked on with the same worried air she'd had for weeks.

"Hontanna, Darspur, All Ell Oraylo," Valelldia said. She was hoping for more from the meij than a gift for this child. She was hoping for redemption. For them all.

Her words deepened in the air, and took on bright, almost convivial smears of possession- they were light, they were beautiful, and they moved around each other like dancers in a celebration. Oqaia's eyes went wide, a moment, in awe, then a twinge of something darker frightened her, and she closed them tight against something that was about to happen. She was growing into her birthright- this possession and understanding of magic... but even yet, she could only sense these things; she did not have a firm grasp on them.

Valelldia knew a little better what was to happen- or rather, what she wanted to happen. She wanted the birds to come together, and in a collective, appeal to the meij for an answer to the question she had been asking it- with no avail- these past few weeks. Was the prophecy doomed to occur? Or was there something there could be to stop it?

Valelldia spurred the word-lights on, up into the sky- where they eclipsed into Hadassah. The bird jolted once, as if shocked, but it stayed in the sky, and its eyes were enflamed with a gold possession. It cawed- no, screamed- and with that call, the other birds in the caravan joined it in its circular flight around the gypsies.

Their calls joined together in a cacophany of screams and caws. A light began to flourish around them, and the wagon mother hoped and prayed that the light would turn into a solid ball between them, then fall to earth. It would mean that they could be saved. It could happen. She wouldn't have to... die.

One lone Banya flew against the herd- Aucaman, and it was this furious, dark cry that suddenly railed against the gypsies' ears. It was only a sign, though, of what was to come.

Instead of the light stream they flew in congealing into the answer Valelldia hoped for... the stream burst off into a two paths- one the same circle around the campfire- and another a thin line off into the night. This path was followed- almost immediately, by Hadassah, Secra, Aurelia, Lucia, Lirka... and Hajari. The rest of the birds returned to their wagons... as the gypsies stared in horror at the sight of their beloved Banyas... disappearing into the night.

Oqaia brought her fingers up to her lips, speaking through them in an awful hush.

"Sister... what does it mean?"

Valelldia closed her eyes, both against the sight and against the tears. "It means... it will occur."

With the fluttering wings of goodbye from the Banyas, came the one gift that Valelldia did hope for. It was the last meij blessing of the wagon ordering.

There would be no more.

In a pale, almost blinding lavendar light, a girl was changed. It was an ugly taint, for a Lightbringer. She would be cursed, in her own respects... until the loss was rectified. Her growth may have been 'easy' for the sake of her mother- but the results of it would be difficult, unless the quest was completed.

In the shocked silence that followed the birds' flight and Anezka's transformation, there seemed to come across the hills a lilting, singing voice. Odd, that somebody would be singing. But slowly, the sound approached... then stopped.

There was the rattling of wagon wheels - soft, only one wagon, no caravan behind it - in the distance, and then, over the nearest ridge, came...

Well, perhaps it was a man, perhaps a woman. It was hard to tell, especially from a distance. Flying behind the guest was an icy blue Banya. It wasn't one of theirs. However, perched on one outstretched arm... was Aurelia.

Seeing the encampment, whoever it was hastened their step. A wagon followed behind, its lead animal well-trained to follow its master. The person came to a stop near the circle, and still, gender was nearly indecipherable. Whoever it was possessed features of both man and woman - a girlish face, a small waist, but a man's bearing and proportions. When the person spoke, the voice was similarly androgynous.

"Has somebody... lost a Banya, perchance?"

"Oh my..." DeArca said, the only thing that could be said. So much could happen in this event that even his Tellbook couldn't predict it all...oh my, the Tellbook. DeArca reached, looking upon the bloodstained cloth folded over his Tellbook. "Mmm" He gave a deep frown, upset about how ruined the Tellbook had become. He was unable to determine how much longer he could wait until his Tellbook would revive. Maybe days, weeks...years? No, it couldn't possibly take so long....could it?

"Weee" A squeal came from above as DeArca turned to see Ash running around the top of the Forest Spirit, waving his arms around. He was chasing a little butterfly that seemed to flutter against the wooden rooftop of the wagon and as always, Ash had to repeat him. "Hehe! Wee!" A giggle sounded and DeArca smiled. "Be careful up there, Ash. Don't get hurt, please" He asked

He went into his wagon, seeing the frozen crystal shard taking the bulk of the walkspace. He looked inside of it to see Illyana sleeping within it and frowned some as he sat by it, resting his hand upon the crystal. "Soon, Illyana! One way or another, I will find a way to free you" He said, nodding some as he sighed. He hoped his words would have some truth somehow. He left his wagon, sitting up top as Ash walked over, hugging his neck, smiling. "Its alright, Ash! Lets just wait and see what the others want to do."

Rojiza watches with rapt attention the goings-on of the Meij. When it is all over, she is...torn. Torn more than before. She wants to run to her beautiful friend and embrace her, and yet her very soul weeps with the loss of one of her beloved Banyas. Aurelia, the bright and beautiful lady-Banya, had flown away. Rojiza feels a sense of betrayal--didn't Aurelia love her the way she loves all of the birds in her wagon?
A voice speaks and Rojiza stares at him with rapt attention. There perched on his arm is Aurelia. Rojiza wants to dance for joy. Aurelia had come back to her! She hurries over to him (and now that she's closer she's unsure it's really a him), tears still wetting her cheeks, and nods. Thankfulness shines in her eyes as she reaches for the lady-bird.

The man (because he was, technically, a man, despite his make-up and waist cincher and feminine voice) smile a little, and moved his arm, slightly. Aurelia hopped from his sleeve onto Ro's shoulder, squawking a little.

"I saw a whole mass of Banya flying away from here," he said, addressing the caravan once more. "Might I be of assistance? I have a way with them. I should be able to bring them back... with a little work."

The icy blue Banya that had been following him took Aurelia's perch, picking at the fabric a little as if to erase any marks of her presence.

Rojiza...can't answer that question. So she drops a little curtsy, nods once to the man, and goes back toward her mother, petting Aurelia on the head and making clucking sounds.

Baptiste blinks rapidly a few times. Such powerful displays of Meij in one evening! He looks over to Tamlin. "What do you make of all of this?" he asks in a low voice. They are newcomers, both of them. He supposes that the caravan as a whole is used to such things, but he changes his mind as he sees the stunned faces of the other gypsies assembled. Especially when the Banyas fly away into the night. He'd come upon a few Banyas during his days in the trading caravan. Beautiful creatures, but he'd never heard of anyone getting so fiercely attached to them as the earthen girl who'd received hers back.

Tamlin was rather shaken after the whole commotion and only when she heard Baptiste directly addressing her did she regain composure and begin to analyze the event

"I..I.. I don't know, but I do not believe it bodes well. I've never seen or even heard of such an event before. but of course the meij is beyond our comprehension, maybe this is one of those times where it will not make its full intentions clear to us. I however plan to take it as a warning, it may not be for me many of us, but it always good to plan in advance for the unknown."

Silver stopped speaking to Caroline and watched in awe as every Banya and bird in the caravan, even her own Binay, Mherudyn, joined together in a strange circular formation. She then stared in shock when a great deal of them flew away from their wagons and owners in a dazzling display of light that seemed to leave Valelldia stricken with sadness. She wanted badly to comfort the wagon mother, to ask what it meant, find out what was happening... but she felt that she should let her sister take care of her. Oqaia was there. Valelldia would be fine, right? In the back of her mind, Silver wondered if Val still needed her to come by with her scrying bowl later...

Aisrhan and Rojiza never made it over to where their parents were, never went to see Khevashi. Too many strange things happened too suddenly. The birds, the light, Anezka, this odd new ... person bringing Aurelia back to them. Aisrhan disappeared into the crowd as Rojiza tearfully went to retrieve her Banya from the interesting newcomer. She nods to Anezka as she passes, her own small "congratulations" to the rabbit girl she'd hardly spoken to, but felt she knew quite well. She faded into the background, not wanting to be in the middle of all of this. She would find her mother, then go back to the wagon.

Mherudyn, called by the meij, did as she was bidden, and afterwards remembered nothing of the events that occurred. She did, however, have an odd feeling that their numbers had gotten smaller. She couldn't sense as many of her furtune-telling cousins as before. Recognizing Silver and Khevashi, she started to go to them, but then she spotted Aisrhan. The girl looked like she was up to something, hiding from everyone, sneaking away behind the crowd. Mherudyn decided to join her, alighting on the girl's shoulder, startling her somewhat.

"Mheru! You scared me!" Ais hissed. "Be quiet, girl... The meij is being weird again. It's Val's fault, I'm sure. It usually is. Anyway, I'm not staying out here." Aisrhan made an ugly face in mockery of the woman.
Mherudyn ruffled her feathers irritably. She liked Valelldia.
Aisrhan pet the black and green Binay lovingly as she slithered in the direction of Weathered Melody, passing Silver without a word...

Irina watched the proceedings, in awe of the growings that had taken place right before her eyes. Before she could congratulate the new teenagers, she noticed Oqaia had seemed to have taken a keen interest in her, sidling up next to her with a basket in hand.

Irina kept a watch on Kalpana, who was now crawling around on hands and knees, inspecting the dirt for bugs, while she lent an ear to Oq, hands resting on her growing belly. "The meij must be confused? Is that possible?" she asked the gypsy, looking down into the basket, and practically cooing as she saw the goat child lying in the bottom of the basket. "Why my wagon though? My wagon always seems to be causing problems..."

She looked down at the basket again, knowing she couldn't say no to such a face. "I'll be happy to take him," Irina said, taking the basket from the pink-haired gypsy. "I'm interested in what you have to tell me sister. I'll meet you in your wagon very soon."

She put the basket down on the ground, and as Oq walked away, Irina lifted the child from the basket and cradled him in her arms. "Eerie? Well Eerie, welcome home," she smiled at him, holding him tightly while she turned around to check on Kalpana. "Hey Kal, come meet Eerie."

She put Eerie down on the ground with Kal, wondering how they'd react to each other. "Eerie, this is Kalpana, your new sister."

"Eewee?" she asked, her ear flicking forward to see what he had to say about it. She scooted closer to him, finally noticing the length of his ears. She wanted to pull on them! They looked like they'd be fun to pull on! Reaching up for one of the floppy ears," Kalpana carefully pulled down on one of them, curious if it'd stretch.

The goat child said nothing as the curious badger girl came right up to him, and bravely - almost fearlessly - grabbed his ear and pulled on it. Letting out a loud bleat of displeasure, he grumpily frowned at his new 'sister' and batted her hand away from his ear. It seemed he would not stand for such a violation of his personal space!

Heather watched as both her fully grown banya's flew off. Amkia looked up suddenly but didn't say anything. He had been silent the whole time they were here, feeling so guilty. Sighing Heather stood up, the cat girl in her arms and went to the man she had not met before.

"Excuse me? You have a way with banya birds because two of mine just decided to do a vanishing act." She didn't sound happy at trying to get them back, Secra was known to be the most annoying bird ever but Amkia adored all the banyas so it was her duty as his mother to get them back.

Amkia had followed his mother and was holding onto her skirt, hiding behind her. He was so much more nervous now and seemed more afraid of everyone else then even Kala though he still didn't like her much and she did have a habit of screaming and scratching if they got too close.

((What? I've totally been here. THE WHOLE TIME.))

Gwynna and Nusa arrived a bit late for the ceremony. Although Nusa was more active during the evening hours, the little girl had been loathe to leave the wagon. Spending so much time traveling the plains made her nervous. Of course she was too young to explain how frightening the wide open spaces were. In any case, the tug of the meij was strong enough, and Gwynna managed to get Nusa dressed properly.

The pair sat towards the back of the group, settling in just in time to see Anezka grow. Gwynna smiled; the rabbit girl had transformed at her very first wagon-ordering ceremony with Valelldia's caravan. And Ro had grown, too, she noticed.

Nusa startled at the burst of meij and feathers, babbling to herself. Her voice was tinged with fear; Gwynna was quick to comfort her as well as she could. The dark-skinned woman was just as confused as her little daughter.
