The hatchling sat in silence, only half-listening to the questions asked. There was only one thought on his mind: The human must be killed. Whether these eggs were normal or special, precious or non, they were still dragons', and any thief needed brutal punishment.

He caught the last few questions, and his attention snapped out of his own thoughts. Rotar wondered if the humans could get flight from the Ascended or Fallen. "They probably just want to start more fighting between humans and Dragons...." He mumbled, a little too loudly.

Master Lierce allowed for the chatter to continue for a good amount of time among the various dragons. Each clan was speaking among itself and even the Fallen were conferring with their leader. Shadine was merely listening with her eyes closed and the human that was sitting with the younglings was distracted by mentally communicating with her dragon, somewhere else in the gathering.

“Tarketh!” The cry was loud and high-pitched with surprise. By one of the entrances the young dragon Fam practically threw herself backwards as the large Fallen dragon brushed past her and into the room. Then she glanced over at where the younglings sat, a guilty look on her face.

“Pardon my late arrival,” the dragon said with a smile, stalking across the open floor as conversation died down, “But really, nothing important ever happens at the start of these meetings.”

He glanced at Lierce and the Dragon-Bound Knights noticeably went for their weapons. Tarketh only chuckled and walked into the center of the room, near the foot of the dais. One of the knights moved between him and Lierce and for a moment they traded glares, Tarketh swishing his tail as a veiled threat.

“I’ve been eavesdropping from outside and must admit that I find it very amusing that it took younglings to realize the most important matter lay before us today. Doesn’t speak very highly of you, Master Lierce.” He glanced up towards the back of the assembly. “Shadine.”

“Get out,” Master Lierce finally growled, “You have yet to contribute anything useful to our kind.”

“Anyone is allowed to speak. Your rules, Knight.” Tarketh glanced down at the captured egg thief and smiled more, his eyes narrowing. “Give me this one. I have no Dragon-Bound right now and greatly desire a new one. You have killed dragon thieves before this one and surely everyone here agrees he deserves death. I will grant him this – eventually – and perhaps even find out why he was hired to steal the eggs in the first place. I have… my own methods for discovering information.”

His tail swished again.

“Give him to me. His fate will be done with and you can go back to deciding how you’re going to discover what the humans want with Ascended and Fallen eggs.”

Ithiel thought this was a grand idea after eyeing the spikes all over the newcomer. "I think it's a good idea," he said, loudly enough to be heard. "It's not like we can just let humans steal the dragons who're born with wings and not punish them. Like Lania said, this was calculated and there's no way we can let it go, even if the human was only doing it for money."

Viscal gasped. He was starting to feel sorry for the human, and didn't agree that it should take punishment. He stared up at Tarketh. Tarketh was here. He hissed. He knew he would come, but no one had listened. He growled. He had taken an instant disliking to the dragon...if it could even be called a dragon. He snarled outwardly. How badly the small dragon wanted to splash the demonic creature in front of him in the face. Now, he was sideing with the human, anything to be on the opposite side of the Fallen. Fallen had been okay in his mind before...but something about Tarketh made him mad.

"You shouldn't be allowed near the human," Viscal growled, though he hoped the Fallen didn't come after him, he did value his life. Then, even though the sky was clear, it started to rain fiercly. The little water loving dragon had never conjoured anything that powerful before. He once again hoped the Fallen didn't come after him.

Meanwhile, far away from the Genyiel Circle, a female stood in the soaking rain. She had been following a group of men who were up to something. She had heard them talking before, but she had lost them. She stood, wondering whom to report what she had heard too, or trying to find the men again. She wasn't very old, and was doubting she could do anything. Azra then twitched, she had to make up her mind soon.

Eyal sat there and listened, holding back his thoughts and comments, keeping them to himself. He did not speak at all, not when the comment about being "special" arose, nor when the fallen leader voiced her idea. He heard the human remark about her wanting to destroy entire villages. This he frowned at. Sure it was all okay to kill those involved with the kidnappings, but villages of the innocent? Although Eyal was not particularly fond of humankind, he also believed that there must certainly be some of them who wanted the fight to stop between dragons and humans. After all, a child can't choose their parents, and these humans could no more stop the mistakes of their ancestors than the dragons could stop them.

But now he thought of something else, something that had come to his attention as he had observed the dragons gathered. There were ascended, and fallen. And, as he had heard, the dragon-bounds of those two species also gained their own wings and could fly. And those dragons didn't need bonds to fly. No wonder they were considered special. And the humans who had wanted to take the eggs. If all they had wanted was dragons, they could have taken regular eggs to, it didn't nesssecarily have to be ascended and fallen. The fact that they had chose those two species must mean something.

His thoughts were momentarily interupted by the arrival of another fallen, one who was none to popular it seemed. Tarketh. Eyal's eyes followed the flashes of metal barbs as the fallen walked to the centre of the circle. This one, he wished to bond to the human? In order to figure out why he was hired? Really, the idea didn't seem like a bad one. The reason would be discovered, and the human would eventually die. Tarketh though...Eyal couldn't place it but he found the dragon to be very untrustworthy, who knew what he would do with that information? But then again, how else would they find out? Perhaps now would be the time to voice what he thought? After all, the issue of the ascended and fallen eggs was still on the table. "I don't think giving him to Tarketh would be that bad of an idea. After all there's no other way we could figure out what he was hired for. Perhaps he'd even know where to find the other human who want to take our eggs. But, the humans stole ascended and fallen eggs for a reason. And if we can find out that reason than all the better. But I think they want to use it against us. I mean really, there's tons of humans out there who hate us as it is. But they still can't fly. At least not without us. We still control the skies. But those bound to the fallen and ascended..." his eyes flickered over to the two groups and those who had brought bounds. "They have their own wings. They don't need us to fly for them. If the humans that stole the eggs could gain that ability themselves..." he trailed off a little, knowing that they were probably already knew what he would say next. A human granted with the power of flight. And if that human hated dragons, and wanted to kill dragons, how much easier would it be then? They nested in places like this so that humans couldn't easily reach them. But if humans could fly like they could, it would only be the beginning of a whole new war. "If they could fly like we could, then the skies would no longer be safe to us."

“Yes, that’s her,” the man said gently to Alter. He glanced up at Chresto and frowned, his hand gently touching the sword at his waist. The look on his face conveyed the meaning – don’t try and interfere.

“Where did you see her? Is she nearby?” he asked.

She nodded enthusiastically and tugged herself free of her brother's restraining hand. "Yeah, yeah! Lemme show you, mister!" Her brother snatched her back, eyeing the man with a somewhat confused face.

"I don't think that's such a good idea, Allie," he said slowly. If this guy wanted to hurt Avalene, he didn't know that Alter wouldn't protest it and get herself killed, or worse, hurt.

"Course it is, 'e's a nice man. You's just bein' mean, Chresto!" She grumbled at her brother and stomped a foot.

Both Asariel and Aaliyah shut up as soon as Tarketh entered the room. Neither of the younglings had ever seen a dragon like that before! The female Fallen, Lania, didn’t even come close to the male with the barbs. He resonated with a sort of latent power. Aaliyah, being the observant little creature she was, couldn’t help but notice Fam’s somewhat apologetic look at the younglings. That made her a little nervous… just who was this Tarketh, anyway? Clearly, he was a powerful Fallen, but… then again, that was all it took, wasn’t it?

Asariel listened to the white-striped orange youngling. He vaguely remembered seeing him before when they were hatchlings; it had been rather fun playing with him, so Asariel was inclined to agree with him anyway. Although he didn’t like the idea of giving a human---even an egg thief---to Tarketh, he disliked the idea of that human keeping secrets even more. “It seems reasonable… he wouldn’t be able to hide any information if he was bound to a dragon,” Asariel said with a slight nod.

Aaliyah snorted and tucked her tail neatly around herself. Without really thinking, she blurted out, “But the dragon in question would hide the information from everyone else…” She wasn’t quite sure where that thought had come from, but it seemed likely enough. There was obviously bad blood between Tarketh and Lierce; no doubt, the Fallen would enjoy taunting the knight with hidden knowledge.

She considered Eyal’s words carefully, thinking about everything she had learned of humans and Dragon-Bound. “I don’t think that a human could bind a dragon… as far as I’ve heard, it’s always been the other way around, hasn’t it? A Dragon-Bound can’t even disobey its dragon.”

“… maybe they are trying to find a way,” Asariel suggested after a brief pause. “They took away the power of flight once. No dragon saw that coming. Anything can happen, right?

Freezing slightly as a familiar large purple dragon waltzed into the meeting, Blade couldn't really help but stare at who he knew to be Tarketh for a little while. He wasn't alone there either, for the youngling at his side had his eyes laid onto the Fallen for some time as well. And from what either of them could tell, Aer was nowhere in sight right at this moment. Though given the context of what the Fallen male had said, the Dragon-Bound was most likely hiding out somewhere.

Where exactly did he go..?

Frowning slightly, their gaze moved over to the prisoner, wondering how exactly a binding would look like. Something told him that the captive human was going to be in for some rough times. If not just the way he might be bound, but in the way he may be treated afterwards. He was fairly certain that Aer was not always so sickly looking.

Shifting a little uncomfortably, he wondered if this is what his father would have faced in the case Astalder was one of these special dragons instead of what he was now. Still, he was sure his punishment wouldn't be too light if he had gotten captured as well.

Lowering his head slightly, Astalder shook it after gazing at a few of the other dragons. Every dragon had a voice here supposedly, but it seemed no one had even heard him. Pawing at the dirt below him idly, he just decided to remain silent for the rest of this meeting unless he absolutely needed to speak.

Chances were that he'd go unnoticed anyway.

The room had once again burst into chatter. The younglings weren’t the only ones shouting that the human should or shouldn’t be given to Tarketh. And the woman that had settled in with them was listening carefully to the speculation and quietly relaying it all to her Dragon-Bound, somewhere among the adults.

“You wouldn’t aid us,” Lierce growled, low so that only those in the front rows and Tarketh could hear.

“You? Of course not. I would sooner rip my barbs through your chest and leave you to bleed and die than help you. But my concern for what the humans want with the eggs is greater than my dislike of the Knights. So I will help dragonkind. But not you.”

Lierce sighed heavily. Hammand put a hand on his dragon’s shoulder and the two conferred mentally for a moment. Then Lierce spoke for a moment with the nearby Dragon-Bound Knights.

“The issue of the human needs to be resolved so we can move onto more important things,” he said. At which point the human woman with the younglings cleared her throat significantly and nodded at the dragons sitting around her. Lierce flicked his eyes over and then continued addressing the meeting as a whole. “Clan leaders, please gather a vote among yourselves as to whether or not to give the human to Tarketh, one of the Fallen. Nomads, either create your own groups with a representative or come up singly. Be quick about this – it is the least of our concerns today.”

And he settled back to wait. The human woman turned to the younglings as the room grew noisy again.

“You guys are smart,” she said, “I’m Nina. What do you want to be done? You’re dragons, you get a say in this. We’ll have someone take it to Lierce then – no – you can’t go. Let someone new.”

The Lierce-worshipper sat down before even being able to speak with a disappointed sigh.

Viscal coughed slightly, as he had just had an unexpected growth. He shuffled back befind the younglings so he would not get in their way, but in a spot were he could still talk to them. They might have been smaller than him, but they seemed somewhat easyer to talk to...instead of chatting with adults and such.

"I hope you don't mind me staying with this group," He said, trying to be nice to the human, despite his distaste for the race. "I'd just like to get my say in too," He added, "I think the human should not be given to Tarketh." Viscal glared at Fam from where he was sitting. He wished she had listened.

Grishmak was not at all surprised by his brothers sudden growth. He watched him to make sure he didn't leave though, he felt better with him around.

"I have to agree with Viscal on this one," The youngling said loudly, "Humans don't deserve to be treated baddly, and we can't trust Tarketh."
PostPosted: Wed Feb 14, 2007 5:54 pm

For a moment, the two glanced at each other, shifting a little from uneasiness. Both knew perfectly well that Tarketh did have a Dragon-Bound somewhere around here. And while neither really knew much about the dragon community, there had to be some reason why he lied about something like that.

But either way, it must have meant that a dragon could be bound to more than one human. Though perhaps it was just looked down upon or something along those lines.

In any case, something was definitely on that big violet dragon's mind. And the two young ones just weren't all too sure if that something was going to be a good thing.

Hopefully, Tarketh wouldn't hear about who voted for what exactly.

After receiving a nod from Blade, Astalder crept closer to the group of younglings, as well as the human female that accompanied them. Most likely, with the way he was moving, not many would really notice the extra presence until he spoke quietly to put in his opinion.

"I don't think we should give the human to Tarketh... He makes me nervous..."

Ithiel stomped one foot. "I don't object to humans normally, but this one tried to steal some of the precious eggs that are born with flight! If it'll help us teach the humans to respect us and help us protect the eggs, then we should give him to Tarketh. Besides," he added contemptuously, "he deserves it anyway."
PostPosted: Wed Feb 14, 2007 6:13 pm

Asariel was stubborn in his mind, despite Aaliyah’s words. “We’ll never find out who wanted the eggs unless the human tells us. And we’re not going to find that out unless someone binds his soul. Tarketh is the only taker. Besides, the little snot deserves it for what he did! He stole dragons’ eggs! How would you feel if you were the ones who had been stolen? He didn’t much like the idea of giving someone to Tarketh who looked very… scary, to say the least, but it was the best way to get the information. Or at least more information than what they had now. It was perfectly obvious to him that the human must know more than he was saying. Maybe… what about his friends?

After all, the dragons had already agreed that the humans were working together in a group this time. Who had hired this one? His memories held the key to that, and once that was known, the dragons would help wipe out this new threat. The plan seemed flawless to Asariel…

His sister was unconvinced though. Aaliyah shook her head slightly. She had to agree with the black colored youngling on this one. “I don’t trust him,” she announced, despite the fact that she didn’t know him. He didn’t seem nice. And Lierce obviously didn’t like him. Although she didn’t know Lierce either, Aaliyah knew a little about the Dragon-Bound Knights. If their leader took such an intense dislike of Tarketh, there had to be a reason… “There’s no proof that he’ll tell others what he finds out,” she said. “Sure, he says he will, but what proof do we have of that? We ought to look beyond the punishment for now and…”

Asariel snorted. “Aaliyah, have you been eating dirt again? This human needs punishment for his crimes!”

“Shut up, Asariel; go ask Lierce where babies come from again…” Aaliyah stuck her tongue out at her brother before maturity settled once more on the female youngling. “We need some sort of proof that Tarketh will tell the others what he finds out. Something a bit more concrete than his word.

Rotar looked over at Aaliyah. "We may not have proof that this....Tarketh will tell us what he finds out, but we don't have anything saying he won't. Atleast, nothing has been shared with us to make us believe that." He had inched forwards into the group of Younglings, despite being a hatchling. "I say we give the human to him. Let the filth suffer for his actions." The blue dragon bared his teeth into something a bit like a grin, then sat down and quietly observed everything going on. Or, really, quietly watched Tarketh.
