Relm eyed the turk pointedly over her tea. She knew he had to be less innocently minded than Kaleb. "I meant from your fellow turks."

Then as if it had never transpired she smiled brightly at the healer. "I bet you're learning all sorts of things you'd never understand from books aren't you, Scholar?" Although there was a slight quirk at the corner of her lips & a less than innocent twinkle in her eyes Relm -percotious as she was- was certain that the double meaning would fly securely over Kaleb's head... but might make for some interesting reactions from his partner.

Kaleb blushed a little. Sometimes he was afraid Riley thought being around him was like babysitting, especially on those jobs that he couldn't handle so well, but it was nice to hear that Riley thought he was competent enough to handle himself.

"I-I'm not sure I know what you mean," he replied to Relm, fidgeting slightly as he did so. Maybe she was asking about his practicing. "I-it's nice to have someone to practice my magic with, I-I think I've learned some things through our sparring matches."

"I've already slugged Reno a few times." He shrugged slightly. "Kaleb had ta come fix us once and whatever ya think about Rufus he's not that underhanded." He scrunched his nose. "Well he is but .... yea." He wouldn't let his boss lay a hand on Kaleb either and he figured that Rufus was smarter than that anyway.

"And i don't think his books have that kinda stuff in'em .... but Reno's mouth is bad enough." he'd already been forced to explain some of Reno's slang to Kaleb already.

Her eyes crinkled merrily. "Oh yes. It's much easier to practice with someone, Scholar." My but she was certainly in a mood today. Sipping her tea she continued to silently giggle. "Reno has red hair, right? Yes... I think I met him at halloween -at a party." A mild frown. "Fun, but no denying his mouth can be quite ... vulger." Then she grinned with a teasing wink. "But I'm curious what you would have to hit him for."

"Unless, Scholar, you could tell me why your partner would be hitting a co-worker?" She asked -again- more to see reactions than in expecting to get answers, but Relm was getting such entertaining answers that it was hard to let the subject drop.

Kaleb's blush only got worse as the two of them talked, but not because of the suggestive undertones. He still wasn't entirely sure what had happened that one day, but he still thought Riley had been angry because Reno seemed to like taking advantage of him. Angry, and maybe a little jealous. Instead of replying he just poked at his soup and muttered something incomprehensible.

"Yea, Red hair and a mouth that doesn't shut up unless ya shove somethin in it." He grunted and took another bite of his sandwich. Reno needed to learn to keep his mouth shut or something. He was tired of having to explain things to Kaleb.

"I slug him cause he needed it." He didn't need to explain to her that it was because he didn't like Reno taking advantage of Kaleb.

That she had not gotten an answer was just as amusing as if she had. Relm schooled her features and managed to look properly apologetic. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring up something uncomfortable." Oh but it had been worth it to see their faces. "It's just so nice to have someone to talk to at lunch for a change. Hummer doesn't know about my little project yet."

She smiled with honest charm then. The only mischief dancing in her eyes was from the secret she was keeping from her beau & the excitement of guessing what his reaction would be to seeing it completed --then seeing it work. Relm could hardly wait.

"I-it's okay, really," Kaleb insisted, glancing up at his soup and still blushing. He was relieved a bit when Relm changed topics though, he felt no desire to continue on about things that made his partner frustrated and violent. It was nice to hear that Relm was still seeing Keme, those two had seemed fond of each other last time he had been around them.

"Wh-what are you working on?" Kaleb asked, partly out of curiosity, and partly to make sure the conversation didn't stray back to reasons for assaulting Reno.

Now that he didn't have to answer questions about the other Turks or Shinra he went back to feasting on his sandwich. It was really good and he wanted to finish it off before it got too cold. Whatever Kaleb and Relm were talking about wasn't that interesting to him since he didn't know what the girl did anyway that could involve projects.

With a conspiritorial grin Relm waved her spoon at the St. Petersburg mural that wrapped around the walls much as she would with her brush had she been holding it instead. "This. It's something special for Mister Petrov." Her eyes sparkled and she lowered her voice. "Only there's a bit of a surprise in it for him too, which will make itself known as spring approaches."

Then the pictomancer winked at Kaleb. "It's not like anything I've ever done before, though it has some similiarites. Once it's finished I won't have to keep it up much either."

Kaleb glanced up from his meal, and for the first time he really looked closely at the paintings on the walls. He could only appreciate the art from the perspective of an untrained and unfamiliar eye, but what really caught his attention to it was the magic.

He couldn't feel it to the same extent he could feel his own magic, or magic similar to his own, but he thought he might be able to make a guess as to it's purpose. "I-it changes, doesn't it?" He asked, smiling a bit.

He eyed the painting and scrunched his nose slightly. There was something off about it but since he didn't really have any interest in magic or the interesting things it could do he just left it alone. Kaleb could keep up that conversation on his own.

Relm beamed. "I'd hoped you could see it, Scholar!" She said with pride. "And that's just right. Tied into the seasons. Keeping the weave tight to the wall, so it doesn't give off any more signal than it has to." The look she gave him next was one between mages. A hint of fear flashed, remembering a Starlet painting gone bad in Jidoor. "Does it look all right?"

She did not mean to leave Riley out of the conversation, but this subject was too close to her heart to deviate from yet.

Kaleb grinned, pleased he had been able to figure it out. The magic reminded him of the glowing ball he had created to entertain Vivace, but this was much more sophisticated than simply changing the light wavelength at random. "Why are you asking me, you're much more proficient at illusion-based magic," he said with a blush, but then nodded anyway. "I-I can't feel anything wrong with it."

He set down is sandwich and picked up his drink. The picture looked like, well a picture, to him so he couldn't really make a comment on it. Though he guessed that if there was magic involved in it then it must be slightly interesting to someone.
