((I'm sick. D: ))
Shae turned a very delicate shade of pink at the other's comment. Leif couldn't know... could he? The way he spoke almost made it sound like.... Leif was gay. Or at least bisexual. He found his gaze lingering down towards his own feet. He raised a tentative hand and patted the hat that was now securly on his head, a small smile on his lips.
"Thanks," he mumbled slowly, still eyeing the hat as best he could. It was because of his strainings to try and see the hat better, then, that he didn't exactly notice the other moving in until he had stopped moving. Shae's eyes flitted over to the other's face, having to raise his own head in order to make it.
His heart was pounding for some odd reason. It wasn't like... like he actually cared for the other. Because he didn't, not in that way. This was all just a game... right? Right. He had to firmly remind himself of that and keep his face from turning such obvious shades of red.
His eyes returned downwards as the other moved away, resisting the temptation to reach out to the taller male.
And then the other's comment broke whatever 'spell' he had just gone under. Nose pink from cold, he glanced over at the other, a slightly impish grin on his lips. "I'm sure you would be."
The truth was, Shae was cold. The shirt he had selected was long-sleeved and thick... but meant for spring. And the nights still belonged to winter. And the other's pants were... well, there was no other way to describe it: they were a southern intepretation of the word 'cold' and they just didn't cut it for northern temperatures. The cloak (and the hat) were a help, though Shae was still quite cold.
He shivered slightly and moved over to his own Maple, stroking her neck softly before giving her a quick hug. It was then, from his bent over position, face laid side-ways against his companions neck, that he mumbled, "You know... I really am very cold..."

At Shae’s comment, Leif turned back towards him, only to spy the provocative position the prince-turned-princess-turned prince was posed it. Obviously, by the taller man’s cough and expression, he could think of quite a few ways to warm Shae up. Blissfully unaware that this was supposedly a game between two of noble birth, he secretly wished that the princess would remember that they were in the presence of a man - but it was perhaps that ‘innocence’ that enticed him even further. Once again, Leif swept in behind Shae, this time with the means to wrap both him and a bit of Maple in his own cloak, his body pressed in close to the boy’s backside. “I have something that will keep you warm,” his lips brushed gently across Shae’s ear as he murmured this in a languid whisper, and then there was a metallic clatter, the sound of a buckle being undone while Leif shrouded Shae in his bodily warmth. “This might help a little bit.”

Shae hadn't realised that his position might have been... provocative. He was simply giving his beloved steed a hug - that was it, in his mind. He was therefor justafiably surprised when Leif quite quickly appeared behind him and held him close. Shae was quite fortunate that the other had grabbed him from behind, at the very least...
Shae's face was most deffinately a very bright shade of pink, which was steadily turning into even more prominent shades of red. Shae had very sensitive ears, to say the least... and the sensation of the other's lips running across that pale flesh sent shivers down his spine (hopefully Leif would think those were from the cold). And he had never heard the other's voice just like that before....
He turned his head back a bit, trying to see what the other was doing, as he heard the metallic click. "Leif, what...?"

“If I could just get it out...” Leif mumbled to himself, still struggling. “Just stay there and warm up a moment,” He continued, writhing with something that was apparently difficult to work with. “I haven’t used this in awhile, but I’m sure it’s still good. Perhaps better with the wait, eh?” With a grunt, he had it free, and he presented the spoils of his effort to Shae - in the form of an ornate horn flask. “A little bit of mead to warm you from the inside out.”
If Shae had thought that Leif was so weak of mind that he could not control the lusting of his body, he was mistaken. To reiterate the point struck so many times before, Leif was a gentleman. “Take it, and my cloak too, at least until you’re a comfortable temperature, your highness.”

Had he actually been expecting something to happen? Well, to be truthful, yes... yes, he had. And that only irked him more. The blush hadn't quite receded from his cheeks as he turned around and smiled. "Thank you," he mumbled, receiving both items. "Are you sure you'll be warm enough without your cloak?" he inquired.
It was quite annoying just how... how much of a gentleman the other was flawlessly portraying. Well, perhaps not completely flawlessly... the trade of a pair of pants for a kiss wasn't exactly what-- But that wasn't the point. The point was that Shae had a new motive: to make the other snap. It would be a very interesting game (although undoubtedly not at all a smart one).
Shae made a small curtsy and then, just for the hell of it (and to see what interesting reaction the other might come up with), he leaned upwards and gave the other a kiss without any warning whatsoever.

“Yes, I’ll be quite cold without it,”came the honest reply, but it seemed he was quite trusting. “That’s why, as soon as you’re no longer chilled, I would like to have it back, please.” It was his favorite cloak too, he thought selfishly, but no matter. This was an affair of the heart, and he knew that when he got it back, it would be warm and smell like his beloved. “This shirt is actually not too bad,” he continued, referencing his jerkin which was made of thick leather and lined with warm wool, but before he could finish, his lips were met by Shae’s, striking him silent for a good few moments.
It was one of those moments that, in sudden clarity, a man realized just how manly he was - and with Shae returning his affection, Leif felt like he was the manliest of all. “Ah, you’re welcome,” he stammered, then cleared his throat. “Okay, Okay. Let’s go. We’ve got a few more hours of riding.” He felt lucky that he pretty much knew the area once they were outside Chver. It was like he had always just gone around the little country - and he was glad of it now, otherwise it would probably be razed to the ground.

To tell the truth, Shae was a little disapointed with the other's reaction (although the stammer was rather amusing). He gave the other a small smile from behind fluttering lashes before he turned from the other and carefully mounted his steed. Once he was sure the other couldn't see his expression, he allowed a small frown to tug at his lips. Well, he'd just have to try harder than a simple closed-mouth kiss if he wanted Leif to do something interesting or weird, wouldn't he? It was rather lucky he had no qualms about kissing (he had, after all, done his fair share with both boys and girls). It was just something one did to relieve boredome or (occasionally) when it was actually supposed to mean something (but usually didn't). That was just how it was in Shae's mind.
((He's smart, but unromantic. xD;; ))

Leif knew he was boring. It had never bothered him before. Usually when he needed to be entertaining, there was plenty of mead, wine and ale flowing, and he was surrounded by gruff men who were usually fine with some grunted comment and a slap on the knee, or perhaps some good natured violence. The rest of the time, people were either too afraid to address him, or they were there to discuss strategy and politics. It didn’t exactly prepare him for the subtle art of romance or the needs of an intelligent, beautiful creature such as Shae. A few times during their ride, he would sigh, or open his mouth to speak, only to shut it again. Never had his self confidence been so brutally hindered than by her presence.
At last, he managed to stir up some sort of conversation. “Well, your act.” He stated, then clarified a little, “With the daggers, that is. When I saw it, I knew you were special. How long have you been doing that?”

"Hmm...?" Shae's thoughts had been wandering quite avidly during their silence. Shae was an excellent thinker. He could think and think for hours (and he had quite a lot to think about) and often times this would give him a rather blank, detatched expression that warned of slight daydreaming. "Oh... the daggars... Years. I think I started when I was... perhaps six? So about ten years ago," he murmured slowly, glancing over at the other as he spoke.
A faint smile curled the corners of the prince's lips up. "I bugged my eldest brother repetitively until he finally taught me."

“An eldest brother who’s an expert at handling knives, that’s reassuring.” Leif gave a light laugh, showing a bit of discomfort with the idea of having to fight off not only several brothers, but ones who were skilled with weaponry. But somehow, the conversation seemed familiar, as if he had asked it before. He was a bit nervous, after all. And cold, but he didn’t show it. Vulnerability was something that a man like him was not allowed to have.
Suddenly, a sound caught his attention, and he began to slow his pace, a keen ear listening in the distance. It was growing close to midnight, so he found it peculiar that he thought that he could hear people. Immediately he thought it might be an encampment of some sort, as they were growing near the sea, but it still seemed a bit far away to him. He lifted a hand to signal Shae to stop, and he whispered a silent “Shhhh....” Maybe it was nothing at all, and he was just hearing noises in the woods.

((You're blond. D: ))
Shae glanced over at the other as he signaled a stop and made the quieting sound. He cocked his head to one side, made deffinately curious by this action of the other's. He was feeling... better now. He had taken several sips from the flask and his own cloak (as well as the other's) had begun to absorb his body warmth. In fact, he was almost at the point where he would actually be able to return the other's cloak.
But this... action of the other's.... Could they be in... danger? He had noticed a faint noise... perhaps that was the cause of the other's hesitation? He wasn't sure....

Whatever it was quieted down again. Maybe it was just more people heading towards the ocean. It made sense. It didn’t mean that they were in any danger. And if they were, well, danger would learn the name of Leif Torvald in a number of languages. He listened for a few moments more, keeping his glance steady down the path before them before he began to whisper, his tone that of urgency. “I need a kiss again.” Well, it was worth a shot.

((Oh, Cammy. xD ))
The apparent seriousness of the situation was rather ruined by the other's statement. He had been expecting something rather more... urgent. But... a kiss? Still, it was funny... Shae grinned slightly, a small giggle escaping his lips. Leif seemed quite... desperate. At least in Shae's eyes, he did, anyway....
"Well... I can't kiss you if you're over there, now, can I?" he murmured slowly, a mischevious glint in his eyes. It seemed his little flirts and close-motuhed kisses weren't quite as useless as he had thought....

He had been half-hoping that it was trouble, so he could put on a show of bravado, but Shae’s safety was more important than that. A large, happy smile took over his face, and he led Gunther back a few steps, so he could lean over to receive his kiss. “You’re cute when you’re happy,”and Shae truly was. He wasn’t so desperate for affection as he was to make sure that she was having a good time, and not about to fall asleep on him.
((lol sorry. I was going to have them run into people, but then I didn't feel up to making people up. We'll have them arrive at their destination soon, I know I've draaaaaaaaaagged it out.))

((S'alright.))
He leaned forward as well, in order to meet the other. It was rather fortunate that Maple had always been quite a steady and dependable horse and wasn't prone to figdit. As he leaned over, he placed a gentle hand at the place where Leif's neck met his shoulder - so he could balance himself more effectively - and he gave the other a much more lingering kiss that he had before, a gentle flush lighting up his cheeks.
