Zach swore inwardly to himself. He had let Budgie run off again, and this time he wasn't even paying enough attention to see where. Fortunatly, she had left recently, so he could still follow her. It wasn't until he neared the house that he smelled the food. He laughed nervously to himself. "Well. I DID tell her to find some better food than trash......Still........ Aw damn........" Zach swore again to himself and kicked the ground. He couldn't risk her getting in trouble, but he couldn't go in and just rip a random person to shreds. Not exactly very..... Inconspicuous....... And he couldn't find it in himself to go up and ask for her. Swearing even more, he took up a position behind a bush and sat down, listining closely for even the slightest sign of trouble.

Olivia smiled and took her own plate to the table, sitting across from Budgie and putting the bread between them. "No, they're not worms. They're noodles. They're a type of bread from Italy. You can either slurp them up, or eat them like," she hooked a few noodles with her fork and rolled them around it with her spoon, "like this" She ate the bite on her fork and gave the girl an odd look. "What's this lab place?"

"It's this big, scary building," Budgie said, shoving a few noodles in her mouth, not knowing how to use a fork herself. "They kept me there and did experiments on me. Sometimes they poked me with needles, or open me up when I fell asleep, even though I didn't want to sleep. They weren't very nice to me there, they kept me in a little cage. But now I'm out, and I don't want to go back. Do I have to?"

"I knew that place was a bad idea. I told the mayor he was a fool to let them stay here." Olivia ground her teeth together, wanting to use harsher oaths but not letting herself with the kid around. "Damn them!" she said, fist hitting the table, her anger finally getting the better of her. After a few moments of stewing inwardly, she shook her head. "No Budgie, you don't have to go back."

Budgie winced at the anger. She didn't like it when people got upset. That always seemed to happen when she was around, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have talked. I can go, if you want. Sorry."

"No no, I'm the one that should be apologizing for loosing my temper. Stay. Guest are always welcome in my home. No one will hurt you while you are here" She took a deep breath to help calm herself and counted backwards from ten. They said that helped, but it really didn't "We'll just have to have another talk with the Mayor, that's all."

"Really? Can I stay here forever and ever then?" Budgie said, vaguely aware that she could be pushing it. "I never had my own home. I wish I did. It looks nice." Even though she had just met the lady, she really liked her.

Zach's head shot up as he heard the conversation. Lucky for him the window was still open, otherwise he would have only heard mumbles. It also provided an easy acess point. God, I have to be a COMPLEATE idiot.....
Zach crouched down behind the bush, his muscles tensing. A few moments later, they realesed their tension, and Zach was launched halfway across the street in front of him. Already he could feel the adrenaline coursing through his veins and beggining to dull his mind. A few more leaps, and Zach was sitting on top of the open windowsil. I took a few moments to collect his breath before speaking. "I wouldn't advise talking to any of the officials around here, if I were you......" He winced as he forced off the tunnel-vision.

Olivia was about to reply to Budgie, but was distracted by the boy on her windowsill. "Friend of yours?" she asked Budgie with a small giggle, getting up to prepare another plate. "And just why...wait, what am I doing. Get off my windowsill and come in through the front door. Neighbors will think I'm crazy. Besides, I let pies cool there." She pointed at the door and made as much of a stern motherly face that she could.

"Yup, his name's Zach. He's my friend!" Budgie said cheerfully. "So, can I stay here? Can I? Please, I'll be a really good girl!" She kinda liked the mothering tone of Olivia. She didn't really have a family of her own.

Even with all the adrenaline in his system, Zach still managed a slightly confused look. "Ok, I can understand not getting up here to start with, but since I'm already here, why cant I just get off INSIDE? Seems easier....." He closed his eyes, and his breathing deepend as he let himself down to the floor. He wasn't totally calm anymore, but he had managed to get most of his wits back.

"Because...oh bother." she shook her head a bit and wet back to making the plate for the boy, Zach apparently. "And yes, Budgie, you can stay as long as you like. Everyone's welcome here." She gave a smile to the girl and turned to look at Zach. "No wings on you huh? Are you from the lab as well?" She shook her head again, muttering curses at the building "Do you eat meat?" she asked as she pointed to the uneaten meatballs

"REALLY?" Budgie squeaked. "Yipee. I have a home now!" Budgie ran and danced through the kitchen. As far as she was concerned, Olivia was her new hero. She was so happy she had so many nice people taking care of her.

Zach inhaled a few more times as the Adrenaline begain to wear off. He was thankful that only took a couple of minutes. "I..... Don't know.... Where I came from. I remember waking up in one of these buildings, then being chased out at gunpoint a few days later...... And yes, I eat meat......." He turned to look at Budgie. "OH! Kaine fell asleep in the woods where we left him...... I don't know when he'll be waking up, he was out cold when I left...."

"Kaine?" With a small laugh she added a couple meatballs to the pasta and handed the plate to Zach. "Well, he's welcome too if he wishes to join us." With a small laugh she remembered her mother, always telling her that with all the sports she played she'd never get a man and have children. "You don't suppose I should go out and carry him back here, should I?" She said as she pointed at the jar of silverware on the table for Zach to use. Giggling softly at Budgie's frocking, she turned all the handles of the pans to face away from the walk way, so that she wouldn't accidentally knock one of the hot things off.
