Tre listened and then turned to look at Ribbon. "What do you need the money so bad for? If you don't mind me asking." Tre took not of the fact that Ribbon didn't react much to what he said. He thought Ribbon was cute, but he didn't know how Ribbon would react if he made genuine advances. For one Ribbon was almost five years younger than him, which wouldn't be good in general, but he was at different place mentally and had probably done more in his life physically and if he made a move he doubted that Ribbon would be able to handle it

((Jeez, already thinking that, huh. O: ))

Ribbon shot the other the tiniest of grins and replied, "That's for my ears only," which basically meant, in a slightly less childish way, that the purpose of the money was a s-e-c-r-e-t. There was a particular gleam in the young teen's eyes that seemed to easily portray the image of one used to getting things done by himself -- and doing it all his way.

((lol no, not really Tre is just a character who goes right after what he wants and when he sees something that catches his interest he wants it, and Ribbon was first to catch his eye))

"Oh? So you're the type who keeps secrets then. That's interesting." Tre rolled his neck a bit as they walked. They seemed to have been walking for a good while now. Tre looked around curiously. "So how much farther is the place you're house-sitting?"

Ribbon shrugged, supplying no response to the other's comment. "It's right here," he replied, nodding over at the incredibly large, formidable-looking house. It was the biggest on the block by a long shot and it was quite obvious that the people who lived there were filthy rich. Ribbon, however, didn't seem to bat an eye and walked right up to the door, pulling a key from his pants pocket to unlock the front door. The cat, by this time, had streaked off into the vegitation surrounding the house, eager to go after smaller, more easily accessable food.

"Right, well, thank you for your help, Tre," Ribbon said as he pushed the door carefully open so the other could follow him through, past several rooms and then finally to the kitchen.

Tre wasn't impressed by the size of the house and didn't acknowledge it, but once he was inside he looked around with curiosity. Tre was used to living richly back when he was with his parents, but he was on his own now and was sensible and worked for what he had trying hard not to have to ask his parents for anything. He was strong-willed and worked for what he wanted, he didn't want it handed to him like it had been in the past, and the money he earned went to his education and his bills. "It was no problem. You must know these people well if they let you watch there house." He said as he followed.

"They didn't chose me. Their cat did. If you think how he acts around me is bad... well, I'm one of the people who can get even relitively close to him without being torn to shreds... So it was basically an act of desperation after several of those interviewed left rather in a hurry.... And since they were so desperate, the pay is pretty good," Ribbon replied with a small shrug as he showed the other into the kitchen.

"And I know the house pretty well, since I've been here a lot..." He did not, however, elaborate upon why he was here so often.

Tre nodded sitting the groceries on the counter. "This place is odd to me. Not this house, this town and it's odd how that cat acts with you. It's just real different from what I'm used to." Tre leaned on the counter an looked around. "I get a weird vibe from some people. Like you, but it's not bad, I just feel something. Do you mind if I..." Tre reached over and touched Ribbon's hair letting his fingers slide through it. He rubbed at the scalp when he got to the top.

(( Can I ask if there's a 'setting' that the anthros in this RP all revolve around? A park, a hangout 'known' to anthros, or is it fairly random? I have an idea, but not sure how it would work in, or if anyone is still roleplaying this thread, per se...))

((Ill go ahead and post...))

Vasha rubbed the back on one large, and yet refined, tanned hand across his slightly glazed eyes, trying in vain to wake himself. His mouth opened wide, revealing gleamingly white teeth, as his giant of a yawn seemed to swallow him whole. It had been a long morning at the bakery, and it was about to be an even longer day.... Vasha's weekend schedule wasn't exactly desirable, after all: Wake up at four in the morning and after a hurried meal of oatmeal it was time to prepare the morning's loaves and get them in the oven. Next came treats -- the day's cakes, muffins, and other such pastries. Thankfully, Vasha had naturally inherrited his mother's skills with food and it hadn't taken him long to learn everything he needed to know to operate the bakery. And now that school was out and it was summer vacation, his mother and step-father had taken the oportunity to leave the bakery to him to escape away to some sort of lovey-dovey resort cruise thing.

A small scowl marred the otherwise indifferent lips -- not that it did much, as his contencance was usually one of stoic displeasure (though not by any choice of his own; it was simply how he appeared). After everything was out of the oven and in the racks, it was time to open the shop, the goods piping always hot and ready by seven. They had to be or business would drop. After the rush hour, which always left him in a state of detatched weariness, he got a break -- leaving the shop's easy hours to his less baking-oriented twin, Sasha. Mother had though that the nicknames were funny... Vasha and Sasha, though the common people did not understand that these were simply more childish versions of their real names -- Vladamir and Alexander -- which were far too formal and imposing to be of any use to teenage boys.

It was break time now and Sasha was manning the shops -- and the only differences between the identical twins were their baking experience and their natural expressions. While Vasha's tended towards that of surly indifference (though he certainly did not feel so ill-willed), Sasha tended to wear a bright smile. Somehow, though it never seemed to suit Vasha, the sunnier expression seemed to fit perfectly the twin upon whose lips it rested.

It seemed like it had been a particularly profitable morning to Pal, as he sifted through his pockets, looking for his pocketknife. A handsome enough fellow, he was still young enough there was some hope he might gain at least a little more bulk... because he didn't look like he'd gain much more by way of height! He tousled his dark brown, almost black hair with one broad hand, and peered down an alleyway. Smells of fresh baked goods taunted him, and he turned down the alley to investigate.

Bright hazel eyes brightened when he finally found the pocket knife, and he caught himself talking aloud again. "There you are my naughty little friend... You hide too much." the tiny pocketknife barely seemed to suit him, with the slender blade and tiny attachments hidden within the casing... which was exactly what he was after. The tiny pair of scissor-snips were useful for a great many things... including nipping his ragged fingernail. Who knows what he'd done to it- he wasn't at all sure, but the nail was fairly shattered, and he wanted to trim it up to minimize the chance of getting an infection or something. The poor fingertip was black and blue, and once he'd trimmed the nail back, he was quick to rub it on his shirt- as if that would clean it up somehow! His shirt looked like it had seen better days itself!

Pal tucked the tiny knife away again, and turned his attention to something more important for the time being... lunch! The dumpster of a bakery was a proverbial godsend, and he shamelessly stuck his head into it, to hunt up anything that was clearly edible... and pottentially really yummy. OH look- a whole tray of slightly-undercooked donuts! He could go for that, sure as anything... they were even still fresh!

"Vaaaasha!!" The tall, slightly brooding, teen turned as he heard his name, his bright eyes fixing upon those of his twin brother. He gave a small nod to show he was listening. The crowd along the bakery had ebbed slowly as the baking goods had thinned out, and there were very few now inside the small shop. "Vasha, lovely, I'm heading out early," Sasha said sweetly, blowing his "dearly darlingest brother" a mock kiss as he quickly exited the bakery, a bright grin. It was pretty clear from his expression that he had a date... or something to that affect.

Vasha rolled his eyes slowly and gave him another small nod, indicating that he'd manage the shop fine on his own. "Thanks, bro!" the slightly younger of the twins exclaimed as he skipped off to whatever it was he had planned that day.

As it was, Vasha had forseen this -- and so he had spent a longer time in the bakery than usual, preparing at least some things for lunch. It was only nine, true, but lunchers headed in a soon as eleven and he needed to be prepared... It was lucky that Eric was on duty that day -- Vasha's mother had only just hired him before the end of school, but he was proving himself a very good help, with a good deal more sense than the usual hired hand.

"Hey, Alex!" Vasha called, just before Sasha really left. The teen turned, looking slightly non-plussed. "Could you take the garbage out, please? It's getting full already." Vasha motioned towards the can, showing at the same time that he himself was busy preparing for lunch. The younger twin nodded and sighed, before returning to tie up the bag, set a new one in, and then carry the old one out to the dumpster -- where he saw a not so unusual, but still distasteful, sight.

"Hey," he called, not quite wanting to get closer unless the guy was dangerous. Sasha, too, had inherited the animal jeans, though he was not the same as Vasha.... "You know, if you wait another hour, you can get left-overs that aren't undercooked and don't have to be fished out of the trash."

Pal looked up.

He'd literally been caught with 'sticky fingers'. ...and not the kind you want to get caught with, either. There's just no dignity in dumpster diving... it's not half so cool as anything else he could have done to get a meal.

"Uuh..." he oh-so-smoothly managed to say as he disentangled his fingertips from the gooey wad. "I hate to see food wasted." yeah. that's it... it's not like, compulsive or anything. No. Not one bit.

He wiped his hands onto his work pants, as if this somehow wiped away the evidence. Riiiight. the frosting on the brown canvas-covered thighs... that was nothing. really. Pay no attention to that. *wipe wipe wipe*

"...Right," Sasha replied, one brow arched up, brow crinckled slightly. He walked forward several paces and then tossed the bag before turning to go. Then, on impulse, he glanced back towards the other boy and added, "The bag I just threw away only has napkins and disposable stuff in it. Customer trash." It seemed he didn't want the other digging through garbage any more than he had to. So Sasha wasn't exactly... nice -- a nice person would have offered the other free food -- but not exactly unkind at the same time. He simply detested germs and couldn't bare to reach out a helping hand to anyone not following at least minimal standards of cleanliness.

"...I'll tell my brother to take the extras out back once he finishes some lunches," the dark-skinned teen said at last, looking as if he didn't quite know what to do with himself. His avid disgust for anything unclean was quite strongly battling his pity for anyone so misfortunate -- particularly someone who he identified as being his own age.

With that, Sasha was gone, back into the store to mutter those few chosen words into his brother's ear before he departed off to his date.

Pal didn't seem too disturbed, in truth... he tried to even offer a fairly cheerful thanks, as he retreated from the bin... apologetic, because it WAS embarassing... and he could scent how the other was so clean and... well. Clean people tend to like OTHER clean people, and all.

He decided to retreat for an hour or two nap... choosing a broken-up pile of boxes and crates, and after looking carefully to be sure he wouldn't be seen, he snuck in amongst them, and changed- allowing his body to slink into the shape of a common Hyena...

...which he knew was NOT very common in the city- so perhaps wiser to seem to have dissapeared- or to have climbed into the pile, if discovered, appearing to rise up out of it if he changed back after his nap.

He expected it to be a comfortable nap indeed, since this form handled the heat much better than a human, would be able to sleep without fear of sleeping through dangers or sounds of danger approaching... and nevermind that musky thick SMELL... he knew his sister smelled far worse in this shape, so surely humans wouldn't notice, right? What's a few new smells among alleyways?
