Peter said it was necessary. the baptism peter is talking about is spiritual baptism. the water baptism Jesus did is a symbol. And, yes, Jesus does symbols. The wine symbolized his blood, the bread symbolized his body, the parables were word symbols of how we should live our life.

Collun It wasn't a symbol. Jesus wouldn't have done it if it wasn't necessary. Peter said it was necessary. Well first off, Jesus din't do it to be saved, He doesn't need to be saved. Jesus being baptized in the water is supposed to represent how we are to be baptized in His grace.

WE MUST RETALIATE!!!!! :Chibi me with combat boots, camoflage clothes, little helmet thing, and rifle running across a battlefield firing at the kamikaze watermelons:
Kamikaze commander: ATTACK!!!!
Kamikaze minions: YAAAA!!!!!!!!
Me: Haha! Take this, melon scum! :throws banana peels at the minions:
Minions: NO!!!!!!!!!!
Me: and now for you, commander! :throws giant papaya at him:
Commander: AHHH A GIANT PAPAYA!!!!!

Watermelons: :very, very dead:

Kali-san What of the thief on the cross? Jesus told him that he would be with Him in Heaven, but the thief had just become a Christian while hanging there. What about that? In the Catholic Church there are many types of baptism : Baptism of Desire, Blood, and water. Baptism of Desire is when you Die wanting to be Baptized but only truly in your heart. Baptism of blood is when you die for Jesus because Jesus said "Whoever so loses his life for me shall find it in me." Baptism of Water is the typical Baptism. So the theif on the cross had Baptism of Desire. He repeneted and believed.

Jesus did it as an example so that we would do it Jesus would never go to Hell!!!!

Which one is that one? it can't be water, because jesus implied they were separate.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is considered Confirmation in The Catholic Church, THe baptism of the Holy Spirit is Pentecost when the HOly SPirit came down from Heaven and the tounges of fire rested on their heads.
