Friday, August Nineteenth

I don't think you've truly lived unless you've tried to find a four inch boy in a three story house.

Daisuke's birthday was the other day. He hid. For hours. Jeane told us whomever found him would get a special prize. She didn't say what, but that made the other girls look a lot more earnestly.

Of course, I found him. I almost just left him hiding under the pile of books, but I knew he'd be in for it if anyone else found him.

"Come on, little one." I said, scooping him up. He glared at me.

"You just wait untill you're hiding on your birthday."

Sibling Talk

"You know, you're lucky that she hasn't done worse than ground you."

"I know. I mean, now I just get to sit in my room and dress myself up. A dark blue would look really good with your wings, by the way."

"No thanks. I don't really care about clothes. I'm fine with my slogan shirts."

" 'Don't interupt me while I'm ignoring you?' Nice. Can I borrow it sometime?"

"Nope. That's what you get for being a tall freak. You'd stretch it."

"Nah. It'd look cute all tight and stuff. Like a pop star!"

"If you turn into a whore, you'll break your mother's heart."

"She has a heart?"

"Har, Har. Very funny. She's human, after all."

"Human? So, what are you, then?"

"Complicated, stupid."

"Don't call me stupid!"

"I thought it was 'ugly' you didn't like?"

"Say that again and I'll gut you like a fish."

"Har, Har. I'd have you unconsious by the time you took three steps. I use these chains with deadly accuracy."

"Yeah, right, shorty."

"Say that again and I'll crush your skull."

"Yeah, right."

"I did it to Bob once."

"Well, that's not hard, from what I've heard."

"Jeane's crushed his skull once. With a shoe."

"Wow! What kind?"

"Her green stilletoes."

"Oooh. If her feet are ever the same size as mine, those shoes are so totally going in my cloest."

"I like her black boots, myself. All piratey."

"They'd make you taller."

"And those sparkles would make you less ugly."

Finally, a pause. The two 'sisters' looked at each other.

"You're not as bad as you used to be."

"You know, I was thinking the same thing."

October 2nd

Today's Conan's birthday. Lucky b*****d is a teen. Me, I'm just as short as ever. Guh. I think I'm going to be short forever.

He's having fun. His girlfriend showed up the other day, and that made him happy. I'll find him longing around the house with this smile on his face and this sappy look. It's funny.

October 6th:

Once great, awesome, wonderfull thing about having your own room? Quiet. If I want to, I can read. I can nap, or just talk to myself. I do miss Conan at night, but I can usually find him during the day in the library, or hearting over his Kiri.

Bob's missing. Pepito just randomly showed up with her skullmonkey and her demon baby, bawling. They got into a spat, and he just disapeared. Jeane's worried a lot. I'm worried, because Pep told me the full story. Poor guy seems to have a really ******** up life.

She's recovering, at least, enough to screw up my life. Keeps saying: "Rene, you need to get out of the house more!" I shudder in fear. She's talking about enrolling me in a pottery class. Lovley.

Pottery Class

Pepito gently propelled Rene into the classroom. "Here we are!" She said with mock cheer. Rene glared up at her.

"Wonderfull." The small angel growled, heading in.

The teacher there was all smiles. "I'm sure she'll love the class, Miss." The woman said, giving Rene's shoulder a squeeze. Rene snarled at the woman, who looked quite surprised.

"Just shove me at the stupid wheel and let's get this over with." She growled. The teacher, still looking surprised, pointed her to a free wheel.

After practicing for about ten minutes, Rene got the hang of spinning the wheel. She tossed the lump of clay on it and started sculpting.

There was something satasfactory about smashing into the clay to make the opening of the vase, to squeezing the sides to shape it. Every now and then, a bit of clay would smack her on the face, or something, but it was an overall enjoyable experience.

Untill one of her chains caught under the table. While it didn't hurt her much, it did cause her to get pulled face first into the clay and spun on the table for a moment. She tore it from her face and took a deep breath, glaring around the room.

"Oh, ******** this." She growled, storming out of the room with red cheeks.

Cross pottery off of her list of things she somewhat tolerated.

Drum Lesson

Late entry: Supposed date is October 16th.

"I hate you, you do know this?" Rene asked up to Pepito, glaring at the one-eyed demon.

"Oh, come on Rene! I know you'll love this class!"

"Oooh, like you said I'd just looooove pottery?" The fallen angel said, glaring up at Pepito.

"Well, if you'd take those chains off-"

"I'd climb up your hair and strangle you with them. So be glad they're on."

"You used to be so nice, Rene. What happened?" Pep sighed.

"I got tired of taking s**t from people."

"Don't tell me you talk around Jeane like that."

"Who do you think I learned it from?"

"Ah. Right." Pep sighed as they walked up to the door. She opened it and very badly played music poured out. Rene gritted her teeth and glared at the band Director.

"Oh, Hi there! You must be Pep and Rene!" The man said, grinning. "Well, this is the class, Say 'Hi', Everyone!"

The class yelled down random things to the two females. Rene gritted her teeth harder.

"So, what did Rene want to play?" The director asked Pep.

"I think tru-"

"I play drums, or I'm walking out right now."

"Uh, she'll play the drums." Pep finished weakly.

Rene was ushered up to where the rest of the drum players were. Some of them gave her odd looks, but quickly stopped after she started playing. Rene had allways had some sort of rapport with music. Even though she had refused to sing after getting sent down, she still carried her talent. One she figured out how to hold the sticks properly her talent came out, keeping her right where she should be in the music.

After class, the Director expressed that he'd be glad if Rene stayed on full time. Rene grunted and headed out of class, still holding the drum sticks.

"Well, Rene?" Pepito asked as they started home.

". . . Shut up."

"You liked it, didn't you?" Pepito sounded delighted.

"Whatever."

Ellic and Rene Playdate RP

Ellic was not sure he liked this thing that Indu, his host mother, called "Halloween." She had told him that a costume was required and that he was going to have to pick something out. He didn't see the point in this, since according to the extensive research he'd done on the subject, All Hallows Eve had nothing to do with frivilous costumes and candy. He suspected that Indu was using it as an excuse to make the children leave the house. At least no one had come with him.

So here he was, staring at rows of fabric in a store. The plastic and cheap garments he'd seen in the convienence store were not at all appealing to him, and he'd quickly realized that he was going to have to make something on his own, however, he had no idea what he wanted.

Chains clanked on the ground as Rene surveyed the store's selection of zippers. Holding a picture of Catwoman in one hand, she tried to find the best match. As this would be her first halloween, she was going to do it right, damn it.

Choosing one, she moved over to the fabric and nearly ran into the dark demon, veering into a rack of fabric to avoid him. Gauzy pink fabric fell over her face and she peered up at him. "s**t." She growled, swiping the fabric away. "Uh, hey."

Ellic was distinctly pleased that Rene hadn't run into him, and therefore blinked down at her, almost smiling, yet not offering a hand to help her up. She could handle that just fine.

"Hello. Are you shopping for Hallows Eve too, Miss? Oh... Excuse my lapse of manners, I am Ellic."

He bent to pick up the picture on the ground and raised an eyebrow at it curiously before holding it out toward her.

"My adoptive mother tells me costume is required for this event, though I do not see it's purpose. Might you explain it to me?"

Rene pushed herself up onto her feet, rubbing her back. "Oy." She said with a bob of her head. His speech somewhat surprised her, as her own had deteriated in her falling. "Nice to meet you, Ellic. I'm Rene."

She accepted the picture back and stuffed it into her pockets. "It's an old custom, warped over the years. Children, or adults in some cases, dress up and walk from house to house, asking for candies or other treats. I think it has traces to the old customs of dressing like monsters so that the creatures that came out on Hallow's eve wouldn't realize you weren't one of them. Now, it's just a reason to act dumb and eat candy."

"I am delighted to meet you, Rene is a beautiful name. However, I still do not think this is worth the effort of creating a costume. I am not particularly interested in candy."

His fingers brushed over some fabric, and lingered on a dark one with stripes thoughtfully, perhaps this would be appropriete?

"Must one dress as a monster? And is this walking required? I prefer to stay at home."

"Thanks." She said, somewhat surprised. She didn't get compliments much, expecially about her name. "It got me thrown out of heaven."

Uh, right. That wasn't something you just talked about freely. Probably weird the guy you. Riiiight. Anyway: "No, of course not. It has changed quit a lot since the old days. Now you could dress as whatever you wanted to. I toyed with dressing up like a lead singer from a band I like, but I thought Catwoman sounded like more fun."

Ah, an angel, like Klaus, then? Interesting. He was now curious to know what his "friend" had done to be kicked out. Still, she had offered information, and he should too.

"I do not touch people and I do not particularly like them."

It wasn't just a creepy statement, it was the main reason he'd gotten kicked out of his home. He dislikes weapons, and wouldn't touch, therefore he couldn't do much to harm another. He didn't cause much trouble either, since he kept to himself.

"A cat woman? I know one of them. You are supposed to dress unlike you usually would, correct? Perhaps I shall put on more clothes for Hallows Eve..."

Glancing around for an idea, he spotted a small photocopied piece of paper out the window, attached to a telephone pole, with a man in a suit and hat leaning against a wall. Some musician. Perhaps that would suffice?

"Nothing wrong with that." Rene said, shrugging. "Most people are too touchy feeley, anyway. Expecially older women. Or younger sisters."

"You can dress like anything you want. I've seen pictures of people just wearing a shirt that said 'COSTUME' on it. Most people like to go all out and show off, though. Hell, you could probably go naked and no one'd raise too much of a fuss. My 'aunt's going to be just about naked in her costume."

"I usually do go around naked, so I think that more clothes would be appropriete for a 'costume,' no?"

Lifting his fingers from the fabic, Ellic turned his light eyes on Rene, brow slightly creased as he frowned slightly, disliking to ask questions.

"Might you know where one could aquire a firearm?"

He thought he had an idea.

"I bet everyone at your house loves you for that." Rene snickered slightly, immagining the response Conan, for example, would get if he walked around naked. Screaming and lamp throwing would probably follow such an act.

"Depends on what kind: Pistol, Shotgun, Muzzleloaders are a lot easier to aquire than a machine gun. We've got the first three at home in a gun cabinet in my house, but you'd have to go on the black market for the illegal types." Not that she'd done reserch, or anything.

He stayed in his room most of the time, so no one cared. Except for Indu, of course, who was currently trying to control the rampant nudist colony growing in her home. He nodded slowly, turning her answer over in his mind before actually smiling at her.

"You seemed well versed in a subject I am keen on. Perhaps you can help me obtain one of these less common objects? I must admit that I know nothing of this 'black market' although I have heard mention of it in many texts."

Rene seemed to know a lot for someone his age, though he knew she was older. Much like Klaus. It was good to form favorable relations with such individuals, especially when they could give to one another.

"In return, I shall help you with anything you ask."

Holeee s**t. It appeared that Rene had at least made an ally of sorts, maybe a friend. That was more than unusual, expecially since she'd allready reached her one-friend-per-yer quota with Eban, and both liked her intrest in guns. Pffft. And Jeane had told her being voilent wouldn't make her any friends.

"Yeah, I think I could get you one. The 'Father' of my family's pretty good at getting stuff he shouldn't be able to get. And he's real easy to get stuff from, once you know the proper way of approaching him." Namley, calling him Daddy, making big eyes, and screaming untill you got your way. She'd watched Mignon many times, and that's what allways got the onion girl a new outfit.

"I don't need anything, really." She said, shrugging. "Unless you know of some people who're good at music. Been thinking of scraping a band together, since playing the drums is one of the few things I'm decent at. Nearly suffocated myself at pottery."

"That would be most pleasing! Thank you! I might be able to return your favor, Rene. Two of my sisters are very passionate about their musical pursuits. Neme loves the guitar, and can sing rather well, she's a teenager, however, Yael-Krie is a musical genius, but unfortunately, she is naught but a toddler."

Ellic bowed slightly to her in gratitude, something he'd picked up from Klaus in their first encounter and smiled, surprisingly happy with meeting a living being.

"It shall help me greatly with my costume."

Rene smiled at Ellic. "No problem, my pleasure to help. If you leave me an address, I could send it to you when Dhee gets it in." Because there was no doubt in her mind that he would get the gun. After all, Jeane had told him not to buy her a gun, not that he couldn't buy a gun for Ellic.

"I can't wait to see the finished product." She grinned

Ellic produced a pen and small notebook from his pockets and scribbled his address and phone number down before holding it out to her, surprisingly unguarded with his movements since he knew she wasn't going to touch him without his permission.

"I will be sure to show you, I would also like to see this 'catwoman' you shall become. I believe I will be using this fabric and... That image,"

He pointed out the window to the ratty paper attatched to the telephone pole.

"It is public, no? I may take it?"

Rene took the paper and slipped it into a pocket. "All right, I'll send it over as soon as it comes in."

"I'm sure no one would care if you take it." She added, looking out the window to the paper. "Looks kind of old, anyway. And if it helps you, at least it gets some use."

She sighed, looking around. "I prolly better leave soon. I have to work on sewing my costume and, well, I've never sewn anything before. It was nice meeting you, Ellic." She bowed her head towards him an walked towards the cash register.

Rene buys a gun/Thoughts on Ellic

Eyeing Dhee thoughfully, Rene began her plan. "Oh, Daddy?" She called, voice sugar sweet. The dragon looked up at her, his eyes huge.

"Don't you start on me now." He warned. Rene batted her eyelashes.

"I made a friend." She said, drawling all her words slightly.

"That's nice." He said, still wary.

"And, see, it's getting near halloween. And he needs a gu-"

"I'm not buying you a gun."

"But Daaaadddeeee!" She cried, clinging to his arm. "It's not for me! It's for Ellic!"

"Oh, really?"

"Here!" She handed him Ellic's address, having allready made herself a copy. "Just buy him a mini-machine gun thing and send it to him."

"What makes you think I'd do something like that?" Dhee asked, amused. Rene smirked at him and opened her mouth, taking a deep breath.

"You wouldn't!" His eyes widened.

She started to scream.

Well, I got Dhee to get Ellic the gun. It's sad because I can't get one, but beggars can't be choosers. Maybe for my birthday.

Ellic was nice. I rather liked him. He was easy to talk to and wasn't inquestitive. I ended up telling him about me before he could ask. Just having someone say that my name was nice struck a chord in me.

Maybe making friends is okay.

Happy Birthday, Rene!

Daisuke smiled a most wicked smile. He perched on Jeane's shoulder as the very pregnant woman glared at the door in front of her.

"No." The inhabitant within called.

"Rene, come out." Jeane replied, knocking on the door with a glare.

"No."

"It's your birthday. You're eating cake and you are going to smile for everyone, goddamnit."

"You can't make me."

"You wanna bet?" Jeane challanged, nodding to Daisuke. The Reliquiant dropped down to her door handle and messed with it. After jimmying it for a few moments, it popped open. Jeane plucked him up and entered.

Rene had chained herself to her bed. She smiled smugly.

"I hate you." The angel growled later. Gathered around her were all of her family members, in her room. Jeane smiled just as smugly as Rene had. "Happy birthday, brat."

Daisuke hummed happily. He'd gotten her revenge.

Worst. Birthday. Ever.

Actual date, november 9-10th

Rene stared up at the ceiling, counting down the minutes until her 'birthday' would be done with. A scowl crossed her little face as she cranked up the volume on her CD player.

No matter how loud the music blared, though, she couldn't phase out a loud moan, followed by pained sobs. Scowling more, Rene sat up and pulled off the headphones. The moaning was coming from a nearby room. Sitting up, she heard a scrambling sound in the hallway outside of her room, claws gouging into wood.

Throwing open her door, she came face to tail with Dhee, who was spinning around on the polished wood floor. He swirled around to look at her, his eyes wide and crazed. The moans were coming down the hall, from the room he and Jeane ********." Rene said, eying the swirling man. "She's going into labor, isn't she?"

"She is hurting!" He whispered, eyes wild. "And they are hurting, and they want to be free, and they hurt her!"

"Listen, dumbass." Rene snapped, reaching out to smack him on the nose. "You go back in there and keep her safe. I'm making a phone call." Dhee actually whimpered.

The fallen angel had to give Bob props. It only took one word, 'birth', for him to fly over, dragging Pepito behind him. She herded all the children down, far away from their mother's screams. Dhee refused to leave, and he was making Jeane even more hysterical. Finally, both at their wits end, Bob smacked the dragon in the back of the head and Rene got his knees. With a final snort, Bob kicked the dragon down the steps.

"Keep him down there!" Bob called down, turning around. Rene stood between him and the door. "And you go downstairs."

"Oh, come on. I've kept your arm from falling off, and I've never gotten to see a birth." She rested her hands on her hips, though her stomach churned with nervousness. Bob looked down at her for a moment, sighed, and ruffled her hair.

"Right. Come on, brat." Patting her on the back, he ushered her into the room. "Just, uh, comfort her or something. I need to get some towels and stuff."

"Right." Making her way up to Jeane's head, she reached out to touch her. "Hey."

"Never..." Jeane gasped, reaching for Rene, "Having unprotected sex again."

"Good girl." Rene patted Jeane's hair back. She gritted her teeth and attempted a smile.

"This seems a bit backwards." She said, wincing. "Aren't I supposed to be giving you this speech?"

"I'm older than you think." Rene said, eyes closing. A lot older. Jeane gripped Rene's hand and attempted to smile again, but her grip betrayed the attempt. She was hurting a lot.

"You're a good girl, Reenie." Jeane whispered, back arching. "Augh!" She cried, reaching her other hand towards her stomach. The angel could see something poking her stomach from the inside.

"Bob!" Rene called as Jeane's grip intensified. The fairy rushed up the steps, towel thrown over his shoulder and carying a knife and a steaming pot of water. Murmuring under his breath, he moved over to his little sister.

"Don't worry, little one." He crooned to her. "I'm here for you. I'll get you through this."

Thankfully, Bob knew something about midwifery. Though Jeane weeped and cringed, Rene managed to hold her in place. The first child was pushed out, clawing at a thick membrane. Bob sliced it open, pulled out a baby and wrapped it a towel before handing it over to Rene.

"Look, Jeanie." Rene whispered, tilting the baby towards its mother. Still gripping Rene's chains, Jeane managed a watery smile before crying out again. Bob leaned on her stomach.

"Come on, lovey." He murmured. "Just a little more, you can do it-"

Tears pouring from her eyes, Jeane cried out again, her entire body stiffening. A second membrane covered infant emerged, and Bob cleaned it. The first infant, once clean, had a grey skin tone, while the second had a pink tone. Bob handed the other child to Rene, smiling wearily.

"Go show them off to their daddy." He said softly, pushing her off. Rene hurried down the stairs, leaving Bob to clean up. Dhee was waiting at the bottom of the stairs and squealed when she broght them down. The pink child, which actually had been born with teeth, attempted to bite his finger off. This made him coo louder.

"What a punk." Rene said, rolling her eyes. When Dhee attempted to take the firstborn, it started to wail. "And what a spaz. You two have names?"

Dhee looked lost.

"I didn't think so." She rolled her eyes at them. "Spaz and Punk."

Bone wing angel- RP with Kouji

-He needed to be somewhere other than at home, just for a while.. Just for a little while. Just to avoid the awkward glances from Louis and, of course, the slight concern of Kioshi and Kit. He wouldn't talk about the night, and he certainly would not cry. There was no reason to cry.. So Louis was afraid to look at him and so he kept getting pelted with the question 'You okay?'.. Niether thing was reason enough to break down.

A sigh was emitted as everything began to process through Kouji's mind. Suddenly he was pleased with his decision to rush out the door and run away. Of course he was not really running away. He wasn't that afraid of his family. His knees were brought up to his chest and his arms wrapped about them to hold them tight as he pushed himself closer to the corner. In a way he wished he'd brought his sketch book and a pencil.. Had he done that then all of the thoughts rushing through him would have remainded dorment for a long while, which would have suited Kouji just fine! He would have rather had the thoughts never appeared. His knees were brought closer to his chest. Tired.. He felt tired.. But he couldn't sleep. No sleep. No sleep ever again. -

"Aaaaarhg." The fowl tempered angel stalked into the room, left eye twitching slightly. Family, Christmas, Chaya, blah. T'was the most wonderful time of the year, and Rene wanted to maul something. At least she was out of the house.

She slowed slightly at the sight of the angel in the corner. He didn't look in too good of shape, from the dark circles under his eyes to the bone wings. Rene approached him slowly, crouched down to be at eye level, and arranged her chains around her. "Hey." She called, peering at him.

-Kouji had been in the midst of berating himself for not thinking ahead when he'd left when the newcomer approched and spoke. Her voice caught his attention almost instantly. Both eyes franticly flickered up just to see who it was. Fortunatly, no one he knew personally.. Not that he knew anyone personally. He hardly talked, he hardly went out.. A brief moment passed and he calmed himself down a little.- "H..Hey." -He murmured before clearing his throat. His voice was rather hushed, although it was easy to hear.-

Whomever this guy was, he didn't exactly look like the kind of guy that was touchy feely. Most people would have placed a hand on his shoulder and offered a kind word, but Rene wasn't exactly touchy feely herself. Instead, she sat on the floor and looked up at him.

"Hmm." Looking him up and down, she settled back on his face. "Damn. You look like death warmed over." Not exactly the nicest thing to say. "I'm Rene, if you care to know."

-Kouji's eyebrows were knitted together at the comment. That seemed like a delightful thing to say. How he would have adored blurting out that he was.. He licked his lower lip and turned his head away slightly. He did not want to look into the eyes of another. Not at that moment.- "Wish I were warm.. I feel cold." -He stated weakly.- "Kouji.. My name is Kouji..." -The name was spoken with ease. As soon as each syllable had escaped his throat he released his knees and shifted so that he were sitting cross legged. Both hands were rested within his lap.-

No matter how much she pretended to be a cool, caculating person, Rene still had a soft spot for some people. When someone looked sad and tired, like Kouji was doing a very good job of, it made her 'Big Sister' mode kick in. Stripping off her coat, she laid it on Kouji's shoulders.

"You look more tired than cold, Kouji." She said gruffly.

-The gesture caused Kouji's eyebrows to unfurrow and raise. He did not question it, though. Indeed, he was cold! And something over him made him feel at least a little warmer than he had felt before. One set of thin fingers traveled the distance from his lap to shoulder to further pull the coat around him.- "Thank you." -He cleared his throat and told himself to give her a smile, at least a half one. The ends of his lips twitched and flipped up for a moment before they pulled back down.- "I'm not tired at all.. What makes you say I look it?"

She waved her hand at the thanks, but she did smile a tad. "Your eyes." She said, tilting her head to one side as if trying to get a better look at them. "You look. . . Unhappy, at least. And you just look tired."

-He supposed it did seem rather obvious that he wasn't in the best of shape. He knew his eyes displayed much, particularly fatigue. The eyelids were heavy and he did have a little difficulty keeping them open. Occasionaly they would droop, but he'd always catch it and force them to stay up. Kouji began to straighten himself a little more.- "You're observant." -He did not speak in a sarcastic nor crude manner, but rather a factual one.- "Can't say I'm in the best of moods. But it'll pass.. It's suppose to pass, right?" -His frown augmented.- "You... Said your name was Rene?"

Rene smirked slightly for a moment, but it faded. "Well, I do try." She reached up to ruffle her hair and eye the boy again.

"They do, sometimes. Just gotta ride 'em out and be strong."

-A light laugh was given. Ride it out and stay strong. That was a good way to think of things, certainly. But remaining strong was difficult. Even those that seem invincible crumble if circumstances become too difficult.- "Yeah?" -He set both of his hands on his head to smooth back his bangs. For a second or so his eyes fluttered shut. but, like a deer that had just heard a car horn, they reopened and he went to rubbing them to ensure they would not again slide shut.- "Make sense... Unfortunatly, even the strong sometimes fall. And usually they're the ones to get hurt." -His task of rubbing away at his eyes was completed. Once more his hands were carefully positioned on his lap. The motion had caused the coat to slide a tid-bit away from where it had been before on Kouji. He'd needed to move once more to set it further on his shoulders to prevent it from falling and hitting the floor.-

Carefully, Rene reached around Kouji and tugged the jacket up over his shoulders. Giving it a pat once it was there, she pulled back and rested her hands in her lap.

"Then you have to make sure you have some one to land on if you do fall." She smiled at him slightly. "Even if you fall back, as long as someone's there to catch you, it doesn't hurt as bad."

-Talking felt a little odd. He did not know the girl at all. He'd learned her name hardly a while ago and there he was, chattering like a gossiping school girl. The comparison gave Kouji perhaps one of the worst thoughts he'd ever had about himself. He? A gossiping school girl? That was an awkward idea. Sluggishly he turned his head so that he could see the girl clearly with his eyes. The dark circles resting beneath the optics made them seem as if they were far back in his head. Another tug was felt on the corners of his mouth. He gave an askew, disfigured, smile to the girl before stirring so that he could stand up. His legs were begining to fall asleep from the sitting. Fingers were latched onto the jacket so to keep it positioned where he wished it to be.- "That's.. A good way of looking at things." -He stated calmly. It was truth. If there was someone to catch you, someone to help you fight off what was wrong then things never were too bad. That was how the movies went on television so that was how things had to be in reality.- "You sound like a philisophical genius." -A light chuckle was given.- "So.." -He cleared his throat and tried to stand straight. However, he couldn't do it. His body just seemed to clouch foward a little.- "What..Brings you here? I mean.. Not.. Here, but.." -He thought.- "Why'd you come to talk to me?"

Smiling a slightly twisted smile, Rene also stood. "I'm a bit older than I look, you see. I come off sounding like an old maid a lot of the time." She dusted her knees off and stretched a bit.

"Oh, I came up here to escape my family. They were being too cheery about the season and got mad at me, so I high-tailed it out of there. Guess were were just lucky to meet here."

"That's a good thing." -Kouji tried to keep his smile alive. It was withering away, threatening to perish like a rare wilting flower.- "I have a brother who happens to be a little.. Like that. Sometimes I swear he's an old man in a child body." -He shook his head to himself. In the midst of shaking his head he paused so to gawk at the girl once again. The holidays were intended to be a season of good will and cheer.. How could one be too cheery about the holidays? He didn't question it. He simply delivered a nod and an 'I see'.- "I suppose fate felt like being nice.." -Quickly his gaze was shifted to his bare feet. He truly needed to start wearing shoes.- "Do you come here often?"

"My brother, Conan, used to be like that. Started talking before he could walk, watched PBS before cartoons. He's grown into his body now."

Rene did snort slightly. "I'm sure my family wouldn't agree with you. They'd be saying, 'Poor Kouji, having to deal with our Rene!' " She rolled her eyes at this, mimicking the voice of a somewhat whiny girl. "And I don't come up here nearly as much as I should. I usually just stay out in my room, listening to music."

-Music? Kouji took a step away from where he'd been standing, feeling the burning need to move just a little bit. He had to think to himself as she spoke that the girl amused him and entertained him more than even his sketch book did. Her immatation of a complaining female had slightly delighted him, although it had created no form of childish ecstasy.- "Well that gives us one thing in common.. Can't say I'm here too often either. I.. usually stay at home in the basement." -He wrinkled his nose at how awkward that sounded.- "It's.. Where my stuff is, anyway. My paint. I paint." -He blurted out to recover from his comment on the basement. His statement about painting only furthered his desire to retract what he'd suddenly said. He hardly told anyone he painted. He often said he drew, but rarely did he mention the paint.-

"Unfortunatly, one of my siblings has learned how to unlock doors, and now I can't hide there. The basement is where my uncle lives when he gets into a fight with his girlfriend."

"Oh, you paint?" Her eyebrows raised slightly and she smiled. "Impressive. I'm not good at art, myself. Since I'm not too good at it, I don't really enjoy it. I love looking at the finished product, though."

-Kouji gave a brief nod. It was unfortunate not to have the basement to one's self. The basement.. Was a wonderful place, at least from his point of view. Hardly anyone hiked down the stairs and into the room, it was extremely quiet, so quiet one could hear the very beat of thier heart.- "Fortunatly, I don't have an uncle. Basement's mine for the taking." -He sounded content with that fact. His own little room outside of his bedroom.. A light red tint managed it's way onto his face. After a brief second it began to fade away, though. He had no meant to mention anything like that. But it was out in the open now, there was nothing he could do about it.- "Yes, I paint." -He cleared his throat. He knew he certainly did not appear to be the artsy type.- "It's.. Calming, I guess. Easy to get lost in colors and brushes." -His fingers tightened on the girl's jacket about his shoulders.- "It's always intresting to see finished products.. Of anything."

"I feel the same way when I practice drums. I can just give myself up to the beat and everything else fades from reality. It's nice to have something to retreat into."

She sighed, looking up at a clock. "I'd best be heading out. Jeane'll be pissed if I dissapear for too awful long." Not bothering to take her coat back, she waved at him. "Hope to see you again, Kouji. It's been nice." She walked from the room and headed off.

-It had taken Kouji a good while after the girl had left to realize he still posessed her coat. At first he had pondered running out to try and catch her, but something had stopped him from taking that route. A quick glance had been given to the clock to catch the time. It did seem to be getting fairly late. He had a slight feeling Kit was nervous about Kouji's sudden departure in the midst a meal. A sigh was given. He'd best get home himself, he supposed. With his fingers clinging to the jacket to hold it in place Kouji slipped out of the center and headed off down the road to return home.-

Growth: Erm, Rene wants to be small again?

It felt somewhat like the hand of God was wrapped around her neck, sqeezing the life out of her. Tossing back and forth on her bed, Rene awoke with a gasp.

The gasping kept on, even as she woke. That's when she realized that it wasn't a dream. Her left arm was unable to move, and her right one barely could make it to her throat. She tugged on the chain wrapped around her neck, trying to be able to breathe.

It didn't work all that well.

"Fu~" She wheezed, heading for the door. "Jeee-ne! Dra-" Coughing, Rene fell into the hall, frantically clawing at the chain around her neck. She crashed into the opposite wall and finally created enough noise to awaken someone else. Hands got between the chain and her neck and Rene greedily breathed in, eyes still closed.

"Renie? What's wrong?" One eye opened. It was Chaya, her blue eyes wide.

"Get... Jeane." Rene managed, sliding a hand under the chains on her neck to give herself some leeway in breathing. Chaya, eyes still wide with fear, nodded and dashed off.

Two pairs of bare feet and one pair with claws tore down the hallway a few moments later. Jeane was on her knees beside Rene, hands on either side of her face.

"Okay, baby, let me help..." She tugged on the chains but was unable to get much leeway. "Looks like you're a bit too big for ********... Jean-ius." Rene wheezed. Now able to finally breathe, she stared around. Dhee was on his knees beside her, tugging experimentally on a chain.

"This needs to come off, Rene." He said, frowning. The dragon man scooped her up and headed downstairs, Chaya and Jeane following behind. He sat her on the bathroom sink and stepped back, giving her a close look. "At least it doesn't look like we're going to have any trouble marrying you off." He said after a moment, pointing one claw at her.

Rene made a confused noise, turning around. Her eyes widened before she let out some very hoarse cursing.

"That's so like you, bitchy angel." Jeane said with a snort. "You complain because you havent' grown, and now you're pissed because you did!"
