=The unnamed holds his stance; though, the a slight tightening of grip on the staff might indicate preparedness for defense. As IV advances, he might hear a slight harmonic begin to pick up. It's almost like a low hum or whistle, and it could be easily dismissed as the rustling of the wind. The unnamed recognizes it as he can also feel the cause; his weapons are vibrating. There is no unease or concern addressed on his face. His body shows swift action once IV is in just the right position. A quick, upward slant of the shaft end of the staff would ensure a quick, efficient defense. What happens next depends on IV's reaction and the readiness of the unnamed.=
=If IV's rush proves to be a feint, the unnamed would turn the upward momentum of the shaft into a roundhouse spin to carefully deflect the renewed strike of the bone-blade and retaliate with an uppercut towards the face. If IV is parried as he continues on course, the upward momentum of the staff would be swung right back down towards his skull for a powerful, knock-out blow. If IV is parried but uses his own momentum to his advantage, the unnamed would just have to catch the head of his staff as it swings under his arm to use as a psuedo-shield as he prepares for whatever comes next. Whatever happens, the unnamed watches IV with that two-toned gaze that never seems to go away...=

The hand with the dagger goes wide and he simply continues on, brining on the reaction of the staff coming down to his skull. Instead of striking him, however, his free hand intervenes as his head slides to one side to catch the staff with a series of cracking sounds from within his hand and wrist. This, however, would not affect his grip as his body twisted in the air, pivoting on the staff. His legs would be brought in close to then spring out at the unnamed man's head and chest.

=That grip might not be the best thing for IV. As the staff is vibrating, it would cause deterioration in that springing kick. That won't change any response from the unnamed. He swings his left fist towards the hand IV has gripping his staff. Still attached to the chain, a mass movement of that chain acts as both an offensive and defensive measure. A shield and whip as one could be said of the wave-like movement, and there's a sharp tip heading to impale IV's incoming leg, the one aimed towards the head of the unnamed.=
=If IV is dislodged by the punch, he'd certainly avoid the sharp tip but would likely be thrown to the ground by various forces. If he is not, the kick should do some blunt force to the arm and chest of the unnamed. While that would cause the unnamed to take a step back, he'd couple that by swinging his staff to impact IV into the ground, likely to shatter bones and earth as well as amplifying the pain of the impaled tip. The unnamed, all the while, tucks his wings to thrust himself into the air, putting enough distance between them to prepare the next strike. Though...an impaled leg might drag IV into the air some. That might be painful. All the while, the unnamed is mindful of that bone-blade.=

((...you posted with three minutes to spare. h8 XP))
The chain would slightly blunt his strike, but not enough to not make it hurt like a b***h. The movement of the staff would force him down, but when the unnamed darted into the air IV would be taken with him. As opposed to causing him pain, or even doing further damage to his leg, it would be giving him an advantage. The hand holding the dagger would plunge it into his chest before sweeping down to spread open the opposite side of his leg and pull the chain through. This would effectively be tearing the the chain away from the unnamed. From there he would shove it into his chest to then remove the blade again. At this point he'd pretty much be hanging from the staff and the chain that now connected the two.

(( stare Forgive me for Valentine's Day and family.))
=The vibrations of the weapons the unnamed carries are enough to cause harmonics similar to a low humming...or singing. It might be hard to distinguish. He even takes a moment to listen to those harmonics. What he hears is processed easily enough. His weapons simply know of another way of communicating that is not psionic in nature nor against the "laws" created in the newly governing null field. Even if the Dominion IV mentioned could still have influence within this null field, neither would quite be able to understand what is being communicated. That's actually part of what is being said. The other is a reiteration that IV has been cut off from that Dominion, just as the unnamed has been cut off from Momiji and direct/easy communication.=
=As the unnamed feels IV attempt to rip the chains away, he tightens the grip of his left hand around the lead of links and gives it a few, quick pulls. He uses those actions to draw the chain into a quick loop to get his arm into, so he creates three "loops" around his arm. All this right before a heavier thrust to send a wave of kinetic energy through the chain, which can physically be seen. Unless IV dislodges the chain from his chest, he'd be thrown up before being pummeled into the ground, multiple times as the unnamed watches and repeats the action. This action should also serve to sever IV's grip on the staff. It might even prove to give the sharp tip a chance to disembowel IV as it is forcibly dislodged from his body only to bring a few...souvenirs with it. Not that the unnamed is expecting that to have any reaction from IV.=
=With all this, what could the plans of the unnamed actually be? There's still the sinusoidal pulse of that globe. He also took a kick to the chest. The one to the arm is easy enough to ignore as the bending motion of the elbow aids a lot like a spring and the chains act to disperse the force. Perhaps the material of the clothes he wears helps in the same way, by dispersing some of the force? In the end, he just responded to somebody trying to yank one of his weapons away by putting his body into a motion to dissuade further attempts. That would, perhaps, be the implication.=

IV's leverage against the chains would make taking them away from him nearly impossible, and would only further cement his position up close and personal to the unnamed. He'd not be going anywhere in the aftermath of the kinetic thrust as the chain would simply be growing too short between them for him to go anywhere. Each kinetic thrust after the first would end abruptly at his leg and thus do nothing at all beyond that point. Bone would weave through the links and begin absorbing the kinetic energy as it travelled down the chain. That chain wasn't going anywhere and was, effectively, a lost cause for the unnamed man to even consider anymore.
With his grip only shaken but once he would still be hanging onto the staff, now pulling himself up against it. From the unnamed man's perspective it would seem like he was trying to pull the staff away from him, but that was merely the effect of his strength and weight. His unencumbered leg would swing up and attempt to reorganize the man's face. The dagger seemed to be growing slightly longer and the area around them seemed to be brighter, in fact the entire arena seemed brighter. It must have just been an optical illusion being dispelled by the field and returning to the norm, right?

=The kick lands. Rather squarely. IV might notice that something had caught some of the force just before impact, but an impact is an impact. Right? The unnamed, however, doesn't so much as flinch, which allows a small cut to appear on his cheek. He might have dispersed some of the energy from the kick if he had turned his head with the force, coming away with merely a bruise. Instead. He stares intently (platinum right) sorrowfully (blue left) at IV. Is he deaf to even blunt force? That is the question the unnamed must ask now. IV had to know that the unnamed has shown the ability to lengthen and split the chain links to seemingly any length and number (respectively). Therefore. Would IV really believe him worried about pulling or tearing the weapon away? Even when the unnamed has even shown willingness to "break" the chain?=
=IV may think taking hold of the chains and staff would leave the unnamed defenseless against a coming strike from the bone-blade, but that object is something he is keeping well aware of. He even takes his left hand to grasp the staff as his right moves down the shaft and towards his side, even angling his right leg. All the while he's keeping them aloft. Why? Keeping a seeming stubborn hold of the weapons would seem against the favor of the unnamed. The new stance also wouldn't explain the perplexing duality of the appearance of his eyes.=
=As IV notices the blood trickling down the cheek of the unnamed and the seeming emotions reflected through the eyes of the same person (if he even looks that is), he should also start to feel something else inside of him. What an interesting predicament to create an unavoidable attack...for one's opponent. At first a strange, crunching sound might be heard as bones break away from the links of the chains within IV's body. That strange, predatory cry from before might be better understood now, especially as regenerative properties wouldn't bring that bone back. Soon enough. It would be flesh. How can this be happening in the null field? Perhaps the natural state of the chains is not as chains. Perhaps the properties of the chain's material is able to reflect even the smallest wavelength effectively rendering any frequency use, well, null. Perhaps any number of theories could be used and tossed aside. Whatever the case, regeneration of what is "consumed" appears impossible, and the "consumption" seems related to the sorrow transparent in the left blue eye. What of the intent in the right platinum eye then?=

Genetics. The base foundations of life, and even unlife. These simple building blocks are well founded in science and altered from afar by the forces of magic. What happens, then, when one's own genetic code begins to evolve without the direction of an outside force? What happens when a simple strand of triple -yes, as in one more than double- helix DNA is far more than simple fragments of protein and sugars? If the unnamed were the one being observant he'd notice subtle shifts in the frame of the beast, subtle shifts that had been indicated previously and were on the verge of cascade. The greatest sign of change had been that of his skin, crawling and shifting, but now a tint of jade would exist within the coals that smouldered in the recesses of his skull.
Evolution. Darwin's surely joygasming in his grave.
The bone blade continues its fun little growth pattern as the bones within IV get a little bit squishy. Though hell, by the way these babies are constructed the chain wouldn't be making nearly the progress assumed. Superman wishes he had IV's bones, and Wolverine would be glad to have the trade off of not being Magneto's puppet now and again. Though I doubt Wolvering would survive the exchange, even though IV would be happy as a clam in the interim. Being squishy was fun too.
IV begins twitching the blade toward the unnamed, as if trying to pick out the best parts to stab him. While he's apparently waiting on that his foot retracts and strikes out at the unnamed man's face again, this time aiming to take a few teeth and implant them in the walls or ground somewhere not quite nearby. He could have fun all day kicking at the guy's face, it was actually rather funny that he just took it, all that wonderful focus on the blade IV planned on stabbing him with.

=If evolution has anything to do with the speed at which the chains would "progress", it certainly wouldn't be showing it. There was no assumed progress. Rather. There was an attempt at prevention and keeping this a fight. The gnawing sound, as well as any crisp breaking sounds, slowly disappear as more squishy bones and fibrous flesh come into contact. Even the enjoyment of or desensitivity to pain wouldn't dull what's happening. The unnamed doesn't shift his gaze. As much as IV might want all focus on the blade, it is the whole of IV which has the focus. It is the world around and any subtle signals as to a strike or how a strike will come. The first kick to land was more a chance to show IV that taking the chains into his body in such a manner was not something that should have been done. If another strike is to land, IV had better learn to be far stealthier in his strikes.=
=With his current position, the unnamed knows how quickly he can dodge a stab, slice, cut, draw, or any number of other maneuvers with that bone-blade. He's also not about to ignore the size or rate of growth. The only brightness that should be of concern is the pulsating glow of his own staff, but he keeps tabs on anything else that might be used, or useful. In the meantime, further attempts to kick just wouldn't be courteous to his opponent.=
=Rather than buffer himself and take the kick as he did last time, the unnamed makes sure his position is favorable before taking a sharp lean back and spinning his body away from the kick. It would put both into an unfavorable position to try to strike again, but it may well force a specific type of strike from that bone-blade. All the while, the unnamed keeps track of just how best to pull off the next stunt while possibly still being in a spin. All the while he wonders if IV will expel the chains to take this back to something more resembling a battle of tournament expectations. It's not like the unnamed is here to please the whims of his weapons.=

This was the point where IV seems to stop being IV. Great wings burst from his back as his flesh seems to tear away from his body to build the majority of the wings' membranes. Under where his flesh had been is a lithe form which is quite slick and rather amorphous. That which had been altered by the chain attempts a revision while the surrounding tissues alter beyond the scope of bone and organic tissues. A sort of quarantine would form around the chain to disallow spreading of the effect with inorganic membranes and what seems to be a stone based composite foreign to this world.
The two would begin spinning quite wildly as IV's wings beat in hopes of generating a chaotic spin. The bone blade continues its own shift in length as IV's leg retracts, but only for a short distance. The strike this time is an attempt to land a two taloned foot with a third facing the opposing direction directly on the unnamed's chest. This may seem quite odd, in both form and function, as that would seemingly require IV's leg to not only change shape drastically but bend backwards. What made it within the bounds of logic was that these terms were exactly the case. If the foot made contact with his chest a fluid would be left behind that would begin a dissolution of the molecular bonds of whatever it touched of foreign origin. The dissolution seemed to be working on a subatomic level, some unknown particle within the organic compound adversely affecting the quantum mechanics therein.

=The unnamed has no idea what the chains, specifically, are experiencing. He can only listen to the sounds they are creating to take a guess. The null field makes sure he can't communicate with his weapons in the usual way, and his chains aren't vibrating anymore. The sounds arise an interesting question. Why had sounds of gnawing and breaking returned? IV should probably be asking himself a question about now. Are these chains going to disobey every law of physics this null field is forcing them to adhere to? The answer lies in what the chains consume and how it can be said that no conservation laws are ignored. Perhaps there should have been careful consideration of the fact that the chains showed varying degrees of ability to grow and split in previous matches.=
=Regardless. It could be said the chains are having a field day while the unnamed remains calm in the attempt by IV to create a chaotic spin. Under normal circumstances, the attempt might have been allowed. However. The unnamed uses his number advantage, in terms of wing pairs. He merely stabilizes the spin. As for stopping it, that would require too much effort. Allowing IV to continue it and himself to merely stabilize it takes far less effort and allows a maintained level of focus. In the meantime, the unnamed keeps his new grip on his staff and posture ready. The glowing pulse continues at its "normal" pace at the head of the staff.=
=It doesn't appear that the unnamed can be surprised by much of anything. Neither of his two-toned eyes reveal a hint of surprise. This third kick may well indicate IV is not quite ready to use that bone-blade; though, there is a chance it reveals desperation or something other. A kick to the chest would mean passing between his arms and over his staff. He presses his bent, right leg against the shaft of his staff only to kick off of it. In an instant, he tucks his wings in a way to allow quicker movement, seemingly to disallow an action from IV to disrupt this maneuver, but also causing the spin to become chaotic if only for a moment...which actually helps make the maneuver faster. The way the unnamed makes his midair maneuver not only allows the unnamed a quick escape from the oncoming kick but adds two other factors. The first is that the staff and chain still left between IV and himself don't tangle. The final is that IV would find his leg, nearest the talons, pinned against his body rather uncomfortably by the remaining chain links between them. The unnamed would simply return to the position he was in before, wings spread and beating to keep the spin not chaotic, leg bent near staff, and arms spread carefully along the shaft with his right hand nearest his waist.=
=The pinning of the leg and return to position might be altered by immediate response. Considering the speed at which all this would happen, especially in the brief chaotic spin, this is the most likely and what should still be seen if only for a brief moment.=

The wings of the beast continued to expand while a second pair began to work its way out through his back. This second pair, however, was vastly different from the first in that the first were normal batlike wings and these second seemed almost insectlike, vibrating the moment they were grown. The unnamed would begin finding it more and more difficult to maintain control of the spin the longer IV was left to evolve and adapt to the situation at hand. The pinning of his leg against him would be rather useless as its size and shape continued to change. A new joint was afforded to his leg as it bent to lash out at the unnamed man in any way possible, the acidic substance still waiting to dissolve away what it touched.

=IV might want to question why the unnamed has not once allowed contact to the staff to be lost. He might also concern himself with the loss of mass he is experiencing due to the chains he took into his own body. As the stone-like, inorganic structures break completely down, the chains would once again be in contact with the myriad forms of flesh available outside that hastily constructed quarantine. The material won't matter, and some body parts, especially that of IV's impaled leg, now or will experiance impeded movement. The unnamed had tried to remove the chain. Too bad.=
=The unnamed does pay attention to the fruitless thrashings of IV's pinned leg. Due to the chains proximity to the actual talons, it would be a while before added dexterity would allow a kick to land. In the meantime... The style the unnamed uses is about fluidity, using the opponent's attacks and momentum against them. The attempts at creating a chaotic spin are as much a boon to him as they would be to IV. The next action might seem against the way the unnamed would normally fight. With his left leg, he sends a powerful, angled kick to IV's side. It would be the shin of the unnamed impacting IV's right abdomen, if the kick connects. Following this, he would use the momentum of the spin to pull his leg back, regardless of impact, only to thrust his foot towards the midgut of IV. The whole action to push off of him and force him to let go of the staff. That's how it would appear, but the unnamed could easily use this as a feint for something else...=
=As for the spin. It remains relatively stable. The unnamed, afterall, is expending a minimal energy for this. There's no real reason to stop a chaotic spin.=

The strikes against IV's torso are met with little resistance, only the first one connecting with the second one simply not happening. After the first the unnamed would, quite simply, be stuck to IV by his shin and thusly be unable to deliver a second kick. The advance of the chains would be halted as the molecular acid began flooding the quarantined area. By now IV's leg with the chain in it would be quite massive, rather bulbous due to the abnormal growth. The air around the two would seem dry, if anything on the unnamed man's side could determine as such. The bone blade continued its growth as the two pairs of wings continued their growth and began trying to steer the two to the north.

=Though the "molecular acid" could dissolve the chains, it isn't nearly fast enough. There are many varieties of molecular bonds, differing strengths of both ionic and covalent. The chains consume the strange fluid, both while it is active and neutralized. If it is an acid, it will have a base which will combine with it and create water and a salt. If it is a protein, it has a nature and denature state. Either way, there are at least two rules of dissolution the fluid would have to follow, "likes dissolve likes" and mol count. A moment after the initial contact between the "molecular acid" and the chains IV took into himself, a couple of drips escape from what might appear, at first glance, to be a hole created in the staff of the unnamed. What drips out follows a path directly towards IV's hand still grasping the staff. It's that same fluid he's producing now, yet it does nothing to the staff as it runs down the shaft. Meanwhile. The globe atop the staff still slowly pulsates.=
=The unnamed must ask himself his own questions. It's no surprise the what he's been told by his staff is accurate, but did that really mean he would have to end this the way his weapons seemed to want to? What escapes his lips may be a knell for IV. A sigh. Of what? There's no emotion in the strange evacuation of air. Then the unnamed grasps both hands to his staff and pushes it forward. At the same time, he says something. What would be interesting in this is the fact that nobody listening would understand it. The tongue alien to all ears of those listening. It sounds soothing, like a beautiful melody.=
=What's the purpose of all this? The strange, harmonics that were once coming from the staff and card-shaped item at the side of the unnamed simply cease, the same of their vibrations. The chains within IV do just the opposite. They go from a still calm to violently vibrating. There's no clue as to why; though, it might just depend on what the unnamed just said. Observers might note that the weaker willed in the audience fell unconscious. No magic involved. No supernatural. Their brains just short-circuited is all. Nothing fatal. A few might have headaches. Nothing major. No ill effects for IV either. Then why? The only thing IV really need worry about is the sudden force applied in his direction on the staff. Nothing he can stop with the force of one arm, especially in a bad position. The end of the shaft may even pierce him as it angles somewhere between where a stomach and kidney might be in a human torso. Not that the unnamed expects anything to be there.=
