"Good morning Ra," Sadie grinned brightly as she watched Obie set the coffeemaker. Sadie giggled at his excited statement.
"Let's go see then!" she exclaimed softly and reached out to grab him by his arm and drag him towards the living room. "Mom and Dad let us open up our stockings if they're not up yet. It's the main presents we have to wait for the whole family on," she grinned up at him.
Obie laughed at Ra's childlike excitement, knowing full well it wasn't far from her own, and grinned as Sadie reached out to drag him off. Making some hot chocolate for her sister, she followed after them with a huge grin and the mug for Sadie.

Ra smirked at Obie and allowed Sadie to drag him off into the living room. It looked so much warmer than before. Stockings lay on the sofa and presents under the tree. It was brilliant. He could see his one for Obie that had been handed along with a bag of presents for the family under the tree.
"Wow." he said as he looked at it all. "I used get one present on Eid ... this is amazing."

"The ultimate testament to consumerism," Obie smirked and winked at him as she handed the mug of cocoa to her sister who had plopped down onto the sofa with her stocking. "Though it's totally worth it," she grinned and reached for his stocking to hand it to him. Maddie had really gone all out to make them both a part of the family, she thought with a warm smile.
Drew stumbled down the stairs half asleep, his auburn hair sticking up in really odd angles. He had smelled coffee brewing and knew his parents must be up. Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, he gave the small gathering a sleepy smile.
"Merry Christmas," he smiled and looked around. "Where's Mom and Dad?"
"They're still in bed," Sadie grinned as she sipped her cocoa and started pulling things out of her stocking.

Ra looked at the stocking as if it were going to bite him and then back up at Obie.
"Wow, they really shouldn't have." He said with a small smile. he was thouroughtly excited to see what was inside though. "hey Drew." He smiled as the shy boy walked in.
Madison had heard the delayed feet pattering past their room and the chatter in the living room. Smiling she shook Brad and ran her fingers through her hair to make it look a little presentable.
"I think we had better go down before the stocking bait wears off." She said with an excited smile.

Obie smiled at the look on Ra's face and plopped down on the floor with her own stocking, patting the floor next to her for Ra to join her.
"Merry Christmas Drew," Obie smiled warmly at her youngest brother, then smiled more as Gabe soon followed after having heard people moving around. "Merry Christmas Gabe," she smiled at him.
"Merry Christmas," Gabe grinned to the room as he grabbed his stocking and plopped into one of the arm chairs.
Drew smiled at the greetings and took his stocking to plop down on the floor close to Obie and Ra.
Brad smirked as Maddie shook him awake and cracked an eye before catching her by the waist and holding her close.
"You would think they would outgrow this getting up early business," he smirked and sat up to kiss her quickly. He released her so he could slide out of bed and tie his robe over his flannel pajamas, then followed her down the stairs to find all of the kids up and digging into their stockings.

"Merry christmas." Ra said to gabe as he moved to sit next to Obie. Thinking of his and Obie's conversation the night before he was now in no doubt that Christmas would be something he would want his hypothetical family to celebrate.
Madison went into the kitchen so grab the coffee Obie had made and put some gingerbread cookies on a plate.
"Merry Christmas." she beamed as she walked into the living room and placed the cookies down in the middle of them. "My, this must have been weighing down santa's sleigh last night."

The Christmas carnage was in full swing, everybody laughing and oooing and awing over their opened presents. Obie loved every one she got, but even more she loved the family banter and warmth that filled the living room amongst the sound of tearing paper and Christmas music that Brad had put on. Grinning she reached under the tree and pulled out her present to Ra. She was a little nervous. She didn't think it was terribly good and hoped very much that he would like it. He deserved so much more, she thought as she handed the neatly wrapped package to him with a smile.
"Here you go Ne-chan," she smiled and leaned a little against him so she could watch him unwrap it.
Inside the small box was a CD and small jewelry box. On the CD were several piano pieces that she played and had recorded for him, the last one a song she had composed herself with the help of the music professor. In the jewelry box was a slender silver chain with a small round silver pendant on it. Engraved on the front of the pendant were the Persian letters for the words "Dooset daram". On the back was the date "Sept. 9, 2008".

Ra was loving every minute of watching everyone tear into their presents. When obie handed her his he looked up with a warm smile.
Opening it he was suprised to see a CD of her music. he knew how shy she was about displaying her secret talent. Opening the second present a huge blush washed over his cheeks as he read the written words and saw the date.
Smiling he looked up at her and held it out.
"I love it. Can you put it on for me?" He asked turning round for her.
Now he really felt his present was inferior. It was something he had seen in a department store and thought that she would like, even moreso after the ball.
Smiling shyly he reached for the smallish square box and handed it to her.
"I hope you like them." He said as he handed the well presented gift to her. Inside was a pair of silver and diamond earrings, Indian style, like a bollywood princess, a secret moviewatching passion they had in common. Around them although it did not really match was a sapphire necklace that matched her eyes. "They're not as thoughtful as yours." he said with a smile.

Obie watched him closely and smiled at the blush that washed over his cheeks. A smile that quickly turned into a broad grin as he asked her to put it on for him. Quickly slipping it around his neck, she fastened it and sat back as he reached out to grab her present. Smiling at his shyness, she unwrapped it and opened the box. Her jaw quite literally fell open.
"Oh my God," she somehow managed to get out as she stared at the -gorgeous- jewelry in her hand. "Oh my God... Ra..." she repeated and looked up at him.
Sadie paused in her present opening when her sister's stunned expression caught her eye. Moving closer to the couple, she peered down at the jewelry and blinked excitedly.
"Oh my God! Those are soooo pretty!" she exclaimed. "Can I see them?" she asked, looking up at Obie hopefully.
Obie blinked out of her daze and handed Sadie the box so she could get a proper look, then quickly threw her arms around his neck and kissed him hard, not caring in the least that they were in front of her family.
"They're beautiful love," she said softly with a very big smile once she pulled away. "Thank you," she smiled and rested her forehead against his.
Sadie grinned at her sister's reaction, then got up to walk over to Maddie.
"Look at what she got," she smiled, showing her the jewelry.

Ra blushed even more at her reactionand then wanted to hide as Sadie took them over to Madison.
"It was too much wasn't it?" He whispered as he pulled away from her and watched their reactions.
Madison took the box from Sadie and smiled down at the jewelry.
"Wow, they're beautiful." She said looking over at the both of them. "You've got a good catch there Obie."She smirked. "Not many men can pick jewelry out so well." Smiling she handed them back to Sadie to give to Obie. She really was going to have to start looking for that hat.

Obie laughed at Madison's remark and smiled at Sadie as she handed them back then returned to opening her presents. Looking at them once more, -really- looking at them as she was no longer dazed, she honestly couldn't believe he had gotten her such beautiful things. Lightly running a finger along the chain of the necklace, she smiled and shook her head then looked up at him.
"They're beautiful Ne-chan. I'm just... floored," she said softly. "I've never owned anything so beautiful before, let alone got a gift like this. This just might top New York," she smirked and winked at him. "Or at least be terribly close in the wow factor," she smiled and leaned over to kiss his cheek. "Thank you."

Ra lay in be reading one of the books Brad and Madison had gotten him. They were really interesting. One was a fantasy novel and the other was a book on theology. Waiting for Obie to come back from the bathroom he smiled to himself. The day had not been too bad, a bit overwhelming but he had thoroughlky enjoyed it. He closed his book and picked up the pendant from where it rested on his chest. It really was utterly perfect. He didn't think he had ever been so hapy at a gift before.

Obie walked back into their bedroom, her head still buzzing from all of the noise and excitement for the day. It had been truly incredible. She had grandparents now. And cousins, and aunts and uncles, and soooo many people. They had all been anxious to meet her and she had been more than thankful for Ra's ever constant presence by her side. She knew this was hard on him, but it meant so much to her to have him with her. Catching him admiring the pendant she had given him, she smiled warmly and tossed her things on the floor beside her bag to deal with in the morning. Walking over to the bed, she climbed on top of him and smirked down at him.
"You truly like it? I had to ask your cousin in the end for the letters. I didn't want to trust the internet with something like that," she smiled. "I hope that's alright?"

Ra looked up insuprise that she had asked Parisa for the letters.
"No, it's perfect, really." he said with a broad smile, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her down to him. "I love it." he said kissing her softly. "You liked yours?" He asked with a smile. "I'll have to take you somewhere nice in new York so you can show them off."

"Are you kidding? I'd have to be dead to not love your gift," she smirked and kissed him again. "I may not show it very often, but I am still a girl you know," she grinned and shifted to stretch out on him, picking the pendant up between her fingers to look at it.
"I'm really glad you like it so much. I was worried. I was afraid you might think it's cheesy," she smiled and pressed her lips to it, then to his softly.
