Daray laughed aloud as he silenced the rabbit's screaming with a swift crack of the neck. Minimal droplets of blood had soaked into the hoof he used to do it with, and he paused for a moment and grinned, feeling the sweat slowly fall down his brow from the racing he had done moments earlier.
There had been pain, frustration, and definitely alot of soreness, but he had finally gotten more than just the hang of this 'killing business'. For weeks now, he had studied and learned with the kalona the ways of the hunter, and with Aita mentoring on the sidelines as well, he had worked his way up to becoming something he himself was proud of. No longer did he have second thoughts about murder... it was just an everyday thing now to him, death. He now took pleasure in destroying life, and found even more pleasure in having company in doing so.
Turning to one side, he grunted and leaned over, taking the rabbit's leg with his mouth, and held down the body with one hoof. He swiftly jerked back and tore the leg off of the rabbit, savoring the taste of blood flowing into his mouth. Without a pause, he turned and tossed the rabbit's leg at Shade's feet, and then leaned back over to retrieve the remainder of the body.
He had hunted and discovered the rabbit's hole from the other side of the forest, lured the rabbit out, and killed it, all by himself. Very proud, he ignored the sting of the sweat dripping into his eyes and approached Aita, with the rabbit's remains, hoping now that she could sing praises to him of a job well done. Dropping the rest of the meat at her feet, he gave her a cocky smile and turned around, facing Shade once again.
"So... when do I move on to bigger and tastier meat?"

Aita had watched Shade train Daray over the weeks that had passed and had even mentored him some herself as well with Shade's guidance and help. She was happy to be a part of his training. Her sinister crimson eyes sparkled with glee as she watched what Daray was developing into. Such a strong stallion now with excellent hunting and killing skills. She was very pleased with the results of his training.
Not only was he silent and efficent but eager to learn more as well. His hunger for knowledge was like his appetite for food..it never diminished. She watched the pleasure he took now from killing, smiling to herself. She felt a shiver run through her entire body and the same, strange erotic and pleasurable, tingling sensation she experienced from her own kills and feasting on the flesh and blood. She turned to look at Shade who watched and observed Daray's every move.
Her eyes met his, with that cocky smile he gave her after dropping the kill at her feet, and she met it with a very pleased sinister grin of her own. She took pride in Daray and what he had become. She chuckled at his next question to Shade, amused with his eagerness to learn more still. Placing a hoof on the rabbit's body to hold it she sank in her fangs and tore the torso in half, after all daray ahd hunted and killed it all by himself. He should share in the spoils.
She picked up one half of the body and dropped it beside him, then taking the other half and turning to see what Shade would say with the other half still in her mouth, blood dripping and oozing from the sides of her mouth and down her neck. She was a messy eatter but then she enjoyed it really. She loved the feel of the warm, wet blood on her body.

Shade stood there silently, her eyes were glazed over a sign in their own that she was off in her own world at the moment. She did that sometimes when she stood back allowing Aita to help with Daray’s training. Nobody knew what Shade was thinking about when she slipped into the silence of her own thoughts completely leaving the world behind her.
She blinked when the voices sliced through her thoughts like a hot knife through warm butter. “Huh…” it took Shade a moment to get her mind back fully then she shook her head “oh… if you feel your ready you can hunt larger game.” Shade looked down at the leg laying near her hoof and nudged it away. She wasn’t quiet hungry and as surprising as it was for a kalona Shade never killed just for the fun of it.
As the kalona mare stood before them she eyed each soquili before her with a cold calculating gaze. Twitched her spaded tail she stepped forward smelling the air for any sign of a large creature for Daray to match his skills against. The wind brought her the scent of a buck nearby and the mare tossed her head.
“Well seems to be your lucky day then Daray, a large buck is grazing not far from here, try to stalk him and kill him,” she paused for a moment “I’ll be watching from the air.” She flapped her wings and looked towards Aita, “If you wish to follow along from the other side I have no doubt that you can stalk the creature without alerting it to your presence.” With that Shade bunched the muscles in her legs and leaped up flapping her massive wings.

Daray watched as Shade's expression seemed to reveal that her thoughts were elsewhere than at the current time. He was curious as to what she was thinking, but knew not to question the kalona. It was not his place to ask questions, only to do as he was told.
He watched her push away the rabbit flesh and his eyebrow rose. What kalona refused a free meal? He would never refuse a meal if one was simply handed to him. Then again, leaves and berries never ran away in a chase, so he really didn't need anyone to fetch him dinner.
His ears perked as she presented him with the opportunity to show off his skills. He hoped Aita was impressed with the skills he had learned so far, and perhaps taking down this buck would impress her further?
Pawing at the ground with one hoof, he nodded his head, excited. The minute Shade took off in the air, Daray literally leaped off the ground and towards the buck's direction, excited and a bit nervous at the same time.

Aita listened as Shade spoke although somethng distracted her attention. Perhaps this was why she took off to watch from the air...to be alone with her thoughts. Aita feasted on her half of the bloddy carcass as she watched the exchange between Daray and Shade. She was somewhat disappointed though Daray had not noticed her pffer to him for half the spoils. She frowned to herself slightly, wondering if he would notice. She had seen Shade nudge away the leg and shrugged. Perhaps the kalona mare was not hungry or such a meager piece of meat did not interest her.
Aita finished up her portion of the rabbit and stood there knawing on a leg bone, blood still dripping and oozing down her muzzle. Her ears perked at the mentioned of a nearby buck. That would be quite a feat for Daray but aslo a scrumptious meal. Bucks had tender delicious meat. Her eyes followed the mare as she took flight to the air. How Aita wished she had wings to fly. It would be a great advantage to stalking and hunting prey. It was then Daray took off for the hunt, still leaving his portion of the rabbit she had given him, untouched and unnoticed. The mare's heart sank slightly. She had hoped he would accept the gift she presented him. She shook her head and picked up the other half of the carcass and quickly but silently followed Daray, stalking the buck. There was no sense in wasting good food.

Shade flow lazily above them her wings flared out as she watched the ground with a stony expression. She seemed to be watching, and for the most part she was, but at the same time the kalona was once more lost in the whirlwind of her own thoughts. She could see the grazing animal bellow her and watched the creature whom didn’t know it’s own fate.
She tucked her large wings down doing great loops as she lowered herself more towards the tops of the trees. All the while Shade’s mind was going over her and Calamity’s plan and her need to break her habit of socializing with lessers. Even so, she knew she’d hold these two in high regard among the lesser races but it was still time that she act as the kalona she’d been born.
A gust of wind seemed to want to lift her away form her vantage point and Shade snarled at having to work even harder to stay in her spot above the ensuing chaos.

Nervous and anxious, Daray made his way into the woods, using his eyes and ears to guide him since his sense of smell wasn't nearly as keen. His stomach was churning, threatening to force the meat he had swallowed back up from the direction it came from.
Why was he so nervous? It wasn't like the buck was something to fear... it could do just about as much damage as Daray could inflict on it, so as equals he shouldn't be worried. Was it his fear of acceptance, then, the reason for the butterflies in his stomach and the dryness of his mouth? Was he afraid that Aita and Shade would look down on him should he not succeed at the task at hand? He already knew he was standing on a fine line when it came to the kalona... she wasn't the type who seemed agreeable to the 'normal' type of Soquili, which put him at a disadvantage, and he knew the Nightmare would see him weaker than their two species from his lack of power and intelligence.
But he would show them. He was determined to do his best, and by god, would he take down that buck if it was the last thing he could manage.
Slowing down and finally stopping next to a large tree trunk, Daray gazed out into the clearing to see the innocent buck standing there, grazing, as if he didn't see his death in the near future. Would he really be able to go through with it? His stomach was doing flips, and he felt his forehead start to sweat. The taste that he once found appetizing in his mouth had turned bland, his worry overcoming him.
Crouching lower, he tried to come up with a quick strategy, ideas forming in his head. Above, he could see a faint glimpse of the sparkling black and blue kalona, and though she followed quietly behind him, Daray knew Aita was close by.
Now was the time, and there was no turning back.

( jsut a short post so you guys can get to the kill of the buck ^^)
Aita watched Daray as he stalked the buck. She stopped at a good place to jsut watch and to finish eatting the meat he had left behind. Her eyes moved skyward a moment as she watched the hovering and circling kalona. This hunt would pretty much be Daray's final test. If he could do this then his training was complete.
He had improved in his skills in stalking silently and his killing methods. It was like he was another soquili when he hunted. She had admired the skills he learned so quickly and with ease. Her eyes left the kalona and returned to Daray. There was nothing more to do now then watch and wait. She ripped off a piece of the rabbit meat and chewed thoughtfully, her gaze never leavig the stallion.

Shade continued to watch form overhead she was hoping Daray would pass the test so she could get on with her and cal's plans. The chilly wind whipped her mane makeing it dance like the flames among Aita's mane and tail.
Her tail twitched abck and forth as she continued to circle high overhead her gaze moving from daray to the buck then back to Daray. She snorted and moved up alittle high in the cold updrafts her eyes locking o nthe moon for a long moment.

Taking a deep breath, Daray gave the buck one last minute to graze, then charged at him from the side.
His loud trample alerted the deer of his prescense, who turned his head around to stare at the intruder. Seeing only a deranged looking black and orange stallion, the deer looked puzzled. Why would a stallion be running in the forest? Perhaps there was danger following the horse?
Worried at the invisible danger chasing Daray, the buck took off as well, keeping slower than his usual pace so as to question Daray of his actions.
"What's chasing you?!?!" he nearly screamed at the stallion, nervous for his own hide. He was about neck and neck with the stallion now, running alongside him as he kept twisting his head around to look behind them, "Is something trying to eat you!?"
Daray, of course, had been caught off guard by the deer's reaction. He had temporarily forgotten that though he had become a killer on the inside, his outward appearance showed nothing similar to the kalona and nightmare he had been training with. This deer found no alarm in Daray, and wasn't scared of him. Insulting, but... he could definitely work with it.
"You didn't see that monster?!" he answered, pretending to look back behind him at nothing but the air, "It was horrible!"
"WHAAAA?!" The deer asked back, starting to get really scared, "MONSTER? What is it?!"
Daray smirked, his legs enjoying the pace they were running at, and he waited for the moment the deer turned his head back once again to whisper out the answer.
".... Me."
With saying that, he lunged forward and grabbed the buck by its jugular, sending them both towards the ground with an alarming thud. His mouth tightened its grip around the deer's throat, and the deer bucked, surprised at the turn of events. Since Dar had grabbed him under the throat, the deer could not move its head, and its large antlers were useless. One leg, however, did manage to strike the stallion in his side, and the pain caught Daray off guard, who temporarily lost his grip on the deer.
Taking another deep breath, he quickly grabbed hold of his neck once again, and Daray squeezed as tight as he could, knowing he was cutting off the buck's air. Soon, the deer ceased it's flailing, and lay limp on the ground. Save for the few bite marks that were beginning to swell with blood, the deer remained untouched, unmarred dinner for carnivoures.
Stepping away from the freshly dead carcass, Daray looked towards the forest, in hopes of catching Aita watching him. He was proud, yes, and hoped the nightmare would be proud as well. Impressing her seemed to be his main goal as of late, and he could definitely get used to catching her dinner more often, at least as long as he didn't know her meals personally, of course.

Aita watched as the scene unfolded and ran silently thorugh the forest, a few feet behind but to the side of Daray away from the buck. She was not as fast as they were but she managed to stay within a hearing range. And then it was suddenly all over. She had watched Daray's play on words before he viciously grabbed the buck by the throat and quickly killed his prey.
She moved forward now, into sight, stopping beside Daray as she admired his catch laying before them. "Well done Daray. Such skills you have mastered and that added sadistic use of your appearance made it all the sweeter. " Pride shone in her eyes and those emotions she had been experiecning that were foreign to her burst forth once again, stronger then before. She fought them back and waited for Shade to arrive, but she believed Daray's training was complete. He was now a master hunter and killer.

Shade watched the kill form high above flying over hunter and prey. Her eyes watched the rippling muscles beneath Daray’s body scrutinizing their movements and power, shaking her mane she started circling again lowering her massive body slowly to the clearing bellow. Her hooves struck the heard earth with a thud and she moved swiftly towards the two soquili before her.
Tossing back her head she looked down at them once more scrutinizing Daray, “you’re training as far as I’m concerned is finished you’re a hunter and can find your own prey.” Her ears suddenly laced back and she snorted “we may have been allies for this period, but be warned…the next time we meet it might not be so pretty.”
Shade had respect for these two, but she was still a Kalona and they lessers to her race therefore she could show no weakness where they were concerned. Tossing her long crimped mane the mare strode towards the forest line once more letting the shadows reach out as if to engulf her in their dark embrace.
She was gone as quick as she’d come as if she’d never been there, and never truly trained Daray. The only signs of her passing was Daray’s skills and a long strand of silky blue mane clinging to a tree branch as it was whisked around by the wind.
