Watching Kamiss, seeing the sun sparkle off his hair, Charlene was almost sure she was the happiest she had ever been. Being able to just sit and watch the sunrise, not speaking, and knowing nothing could ruin the moment, made the day perfect. Already, though birds were just waking from their slumber, she heard their song as a melody of joy, and she was hardpressed not to laugh at how beautiful everything seemed to be.

Kamiss turned, as if he had heard the altered pattern of her breathing. He smiled, and walked towards her, sitting down beside her and wrapping his arms around her. "You slept for a while." He said softly.

Snuggling against him, she spoke softly as well, so as not to break the morning silence.
"I was exhausted. I feel so rested now, it's amazing. I think I'd forgotten how perfect the world can be."
She settled back, feeling his heartbeat. Perfect.

Kamiss sat up suddenly and laughed. "This is one amazingly long sunrise. Think our world is helping us out?" He leaned down and settled back with Charlene. "Yeah, this is perfect." He said. "I don't know anything that is more perfect."

"Why shouldn't it? Mother Nature isn't always spiteful, and Father Time probably has a heart under that beard somewhere." She laughed, stretching. "It's hard to believe, with all the death and crime int his world, that some moments can still...shine, like this."

"Mother Nature has always been nice to me." Beardheart. Haha. We made a funny. "I've seen enough death and crime, though. Every day I see it in my family. And so I guess, yes, something still has to shine. We'd be gone without the light, I think."

"True. The human world has been fading for a long time now, and these strands of brightness hold it together. Makes you feel kinda cosmic, really, when you realize that just enjoying life and the people you know can save the world."
She smiled, standing up and walking to the edge of the balcony. She stared out across what small patch of the world she knew, and thought it was the most beautiful she'd ever seen.

"From underneath the trees, we watch the sky, Confusing stars for satellites, I never dreamed that you'd be mine, But here we are, we're here tonight." Kamiss sighed, holding Charlene tighter as he spoke. "Saving the world has always been fun." He commented somewhat randomly

(Awww! That was BEAUTIFUL!)

Charlene smiled and snuggled against him again, basking in the glow of his poetry. "True, saving the world is always fun. As long as you're appreciated for it."

(Thank Nickelback for Nickelback. What?)

Kamiss looked at the sun again. It was directly overhead, but the colour of the sky was that of sunrise and sunset. "Looks like nature IS on our side now." He looked down at Charlene. "That's why I left America. Saving the world was enough. I couldn't save the world and then not leave my house because people would want to talk and express gratitude and such. I much prefer the quiet thanks of Europe, don't you?"

( mrgreen )

"Yes, I agree. Out here, the old ways seem to still hold sway, though the modern world is encroaching on dominance. In America, all the old rules, legends, are gone. It's all so bright, shining and new, it hurts to see. One of the many reasons I love it here. I can live by the old rules, and be understood."

Kamiss was silent for a long time, but it did not seem to be such a bad thing. As stars came out and fireflies span around in a spectal dance, Kamiss finally responded to her question. "Yeah." He said, the simplicity compounded with everything he msut be thinking about. "Yeah."

Charlene slipped from Kamiss' amrs and ran to the balustrade. (I'm thinking that means what I hope it means.) The tree tops brushed the balcony, and the fireflies danced among the uppermost branches, letting the world now with their most beautiful words that the sun had set, and another wonderful day had gone by. The matched the stars in number, or seemed to. She caught one in her hands, blew it a kiss, and let it free. It flew around her once, and more rose with it, some settling in her hair like glowing diadems. She smiled, and they flew off, back to their dance, as she returned to Kamiss.

(I think it does. If not, who gives? mrgreen Except the invisible cd tray over thar... maybe he does)

Kamiss rose to meet her, and took her hand. "I think I've had enough of this building for a while." He said, and leapt off, Charlene trailing behind. He grabbed a branch of the tree, leapt up, and gently hauled Charlene up after. "There's a good spot to watch stars over there." Kamiss pointed to the largest willow tree around. He started treehopping, then looked over his shoulder to check on Charlene. As Kamiss started forward again, Isirine landed on his shoulder, digging her claws in lightly, and meowed. "Ok, ok, I'll slow down. Just take your claws out. It's not nice." Kamiss said, looking the cat in the eye scoldingly. Isirine's eyes seemed to shine as she promptly batted Kamiss in the nose.

(You are getting REALLY good at making me laugh. I love Isirine's attitude.)

Charlene leapt along willingly, feeling as if she were flying. Sh elet out a quiet cheer when she saw where they were going.
"I love willows! They're beautiful." Her words were snatched away quickly by the wind, but she knew Kamiss had heard her.
She almost let go and fell when Isirine made her entrance, but she shook off the surprise, and was soon laughing at the cat's righteous indignation.
She reached up with her free hand, took gentle hold of Isirine, and nestled her in the crook of her arm. A soft purring arose as they landed neatly an the uppermost branch of the willow.
