Anezka lifted the lantern to get a better look at the writing, just as Val tripped. She turned and directed the light to their feet. "...Uh..." was all she managed to utter. Her golden eyes grew wide as she looked back up at Val. Pulling a brave face she attempted, unsuccessfully, to shrug it off, "Bet they just slid and hit their head...the cave floor is rather damp."

"Or fell asleep too cold," murmurs Val. "I wonder what he was looking for," she says, looking at the maps and writings again. Something compels her to look closer at the cave wall down the way a little. "Come this way with the light, dear," she says to Ani.
As the light falls on this darker spot, there's revealed something nestled into a c***k in the wall. "What's this?" she wonders. She reaches for it, then pauses. "You take it," she says on impulse.

"Oh...yes...that could be too..." She followed close behind Val with the light, not quite seeing what Val was actually looking at. Switching the lantern from her right hand to her left, she reached out her right hand to grasp whatever it was that Val had found.

Val smiles broadly as Ani takes the wide, flat tri-rune piece from the niche. The tugging feeling dissipates; this must have been what the Meij wanted Anezka to find.
"This makes three, does it not?"

Anezka was soon flooded with joy and nearly dropped the lantern, but quickly tightened her grasp on both objects. "The final piece...I...I can't even believe it..." She stood there with her mouth hanging open slightly, shaking her head as she tried to take it all in. "I have the other two!..." She went down on her knee to put down the lantern, then pulled the pouch from her belt, dropping the pieces into her palm, holding the completed Tri-Rune.

"Anezka, wait--" begins Valelldia, but the over-excited teenager was too hasty.
"Oh dear," she says again as the Meij takes hold of the rabbit-girl. It enfolds her in the life-giving light she'd come from. The completed tri-rune sears in her palm, its magic seeping into her veins. The magic travels, fire-like, through her arm and up her shoulder, onto her back where it explodes into her once-lifeless wings. She feels like she might die from the pain and yet...somehow Ani can't keep the smile from her face, she is so filled with joy.
After what seems like hours, the bright light subsides, and with it the pain. The residual sparkle of magic settles on Anezka, and she seems to glow in the dim light. Val can't help but smile. "Welcome back," she says softly.

Ani looked at Val with a joy-drunk expression. She stood and looked at the Tri-Rune, at the same time examining the burn mark on her hand. Her heart and mind were racing, and the only thing she managed to say at first was "Sorry..." She smiled at Val and then pulled her into a tight embrace, "Thank you...I never thought this day would come...I have to tell Leshya'e...I have to tell everyone!"

- Telling Mum -
Placing the completed Tri-Rune into her pouch and lifting the lantern, she rushed Valelldia along and out of the cave, then left the lantern with her. "You'll make it to your wagon alright...?" She called out, not waiting for an answer. She knew Val would be fine, and was far too excited to speak to Shy to worry about being insolent and impatient. "Shy...Shy...Wake Up!" Anezka called as she neared Varekai, banging on the side as she came around the corner and up the steps. "Ugh...Ani...oh, what is it!?" Shy grudgingly sat up and swung her legs off the side of the bed. She rubbed her eyes, pulled her hair back from her face and looking up at Ani her mouth fell open, "My God, Look at you! When did this happen?" She paused for a moment and then added, "Ani...Where are your wings?" Anezka tilted her head and raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean, they're..." Catching her reflection in the window beyond her mothers head, her eyes went big and she shifted around to get a better view. Much to her amazement, Shy had been right, Her wings had disappeared.
Confused by Anezka's surprise, Shy stood and put her hand on her daughters arm. "Ani...what's going on?" Anezka just stood there for a moment, before snapping out of her mesmerization, "I went with Val. To the Cave. Found the Tri-Rune Piece...and then...It all sort of happened." She reached into the pouch, grabbing the completed Rune, and held it out in her hand, also showing Shy the triangular burn mark on her palm. "I don't understand...It's complete...and I changed...where did my wings go?" She pulled Ani close and shook her head, "I don't know...but we'll find out...don't worry, everything will be right."
