But the sun was setting and he needed to get back to the inn before they gave up his room to someone else. He whistled, not a loud, shrill obnoxious whistle. It was more prodding than anything.
Circe awakened and looked up at the sound of the whistle. She blinked and for the first time in a long time contemplated ignoring her partner. She was very comfortable with Nanaki. However... he was her partner. With a sad squawk she stood, gently so as not to hurt Nanaki. Leaning down for a moment she groomed the corner of his beak for one more moment before turning and trotting over to her partner, not able to resist glancing back at the male behind her a few times.
