It was the way he spoke, and the way he looked and then he found he could no longer bare it. He stood up straight again, forcing the smile back. However, it was terribly obvious he was in pain now. The boy he was talking to was nearly causing him to relapse for a reason he could not explain. He had to leave, had to get the hell away from this boy. Some how... but first... yes first he must act as if nothing was wrong. Put the courtesy of others before the pain of yourself, another of 'dear old dad's' lessons.
"Oh forgive me!" He bowed, ignoring the other boys statement. Nobility bowed and the polite did too, as far as he was concerned. He had been raised to bow when he told another his name, no matter who. The other man, Professor Araquenosse had told him to make friends and respect his fellow students. That would include Jaden. Such a timid boy he'd never seen, nor someone with eyes as odd as those. "My name is Nathaniel Jacobson." He took another moment and stood up straight again, "I'm fine I assure you."

Teh Bunnah Ninja Rylenn hadn't been paying attention in the least. He offered a piece of bread for the crow. He was.. amazed and rather distracted. "Hallo there, Beautiful. Gilnuir..." Out of the corner of his eye, Dante saw Nathaniel and Jaden begin to converse. It was good. Perhaps Nathaniel would not be so frigid as he thought. The boy did seem soft, fragile--but he knew that oft a serpent lay beneath the innocent-looking flower.
With that, he turned his attention back to the bird, reaching out and stroking his throat, bringing an appreciative croak into his voice. "He likes it when you stroke him underneath the throat. And he likes food, as you've guessed," he said with a light laugh as the crow snapped up the offered morsel and began cocking his head, examining the boy for more.

'Okay, breathe in...that's it...now slowly breathe out. Good boy 'lij', you'll do just fine,' an optimistic tone ringed in Elijah's ears as he approached and stopped just before heading inside. 'What am I saying...this...this is a dream come true, I can't just waltz right in.' Every nerve seemed to be jolting in his small and meager body at the mere thought of starting his life here and though the feeling was exhilarating, the daunting radiance of the school loomed over him left him questioning how and why they had chosen him of all people to participate in such a brilliant academic society. Clenching his fist, the boy took another step forward, slowly and brilliantly gaining the confidence he fashioned within himself. 'Come on...you're just as good as any of these other guys...,' the voice said again, prepping him farther, instigating the perfect reaction. Finally, with every fiber of his being he stepped in and gazed about.
Catching his breath in his throat, the sights and sounds he saw astounded him. Elves and humans stood here and there conversing iddly or sharing stories while sharing a rather pleasant experience. 'This...this is amazing.'

Irame had simply been walking around, talking with people every now and then, greeting students and teachers alike. Then she noticed the young boy that had just entered the room. He looked amazed and somewhat worried at the same time. It wasn’t all that uncommon in the new students though. After all most of them had been told all their lives that Elves and Dragons and Demons and all such things were fantasy and then all of a sudden they find out that they weren’t? It was a shock to them.
“Mae govanne” She said as she came up to Elijah and smiled. She bowed her head slightly as she smiled, as was the normal informal Elven way of greeting. “Is everything alright…” she searched her mind for his name, and managed to find it, “Elijah?” she asked.

He smiled...in that sort of way that said that what the other had just said to him was most certainly a lie. A blatant denial of whatever struggle lurked in the depths of limitless green eyes. But Jaden would let it pass...he did not know this boy well enough to have the authority to confront him...or comfort him.
"I'm glad." He said easily enough, brushing pale hair from odd-colored eyes. "I was worried..." And still was, truth be told, and that came across readily, for those who were looking for it.

Rylenn laughed softly. "I do see that.. he's a very handsome bird." He began to stroke the bird's throat. He gurbled a bit and smiled. He searched his pockets and pulled out a cracker. Something he was given to combat sea sickness.

Jumping, having not realized the woman was there until her voice chimed directly in front of him and looking up Elijah quickly noticed her elfish features. She was stunning, young and friendly, or at least this was the boy's first impression of her. Lightly he bowed in return, remembering his manners and once rising he grinned in an almost childish fashion. "Everything is perfect, Ma'am," he chirped, his voice gentle and youthful. "It's brilliant to meet you Miss..." he too had to search for a name, but within his mind as he recalled what was written on the information to enter the school, "Irame." His shyness was still evident, but a complex confidence surely was leading him now.

He searched his pockets and pulled out a cracker. Something he was given to combat sea sickness. Dante laughed quietly as the bird snapped up the proffered cracker, too, and let out a harsh but pleased croak as he began nibbling on the fingers.
"Don't mind it when he does that. Gilnuir is very sociable--moreso than his brothers. This is just his way of showing that he likes you. Although...if his brothers try to do that, I would suggest moving your hands away as quickly as possible. The others tend to not be so friendly."
From the rafters one more pair of black wings spread and swooped down to them. Dante held out an arm and let the bird land--Gelnuir, he thought, judging by the green ribbon. Well, Professor Larine's tomfoolery had come in useful for something.

Rylenn smiled brightly. He felt at home with this man. He wiggled his fingers playfully at the crow. "I'm glad he likes me. I think some part of me would be crushed if your crows did not approve of me, Professor...." His voice was soft, thoughtful. He began to search the crow. "Is he different then normal crows? He is most definately smarter.."

.Sephiros Immortal. He smiled...in that sort of way that said that what the other had just said to him was most certainly a lie. "Please don't concern yourself with me." He said this with a brightly too-cheerful smile and almost detatched words. Quickly with deft mental strokes he was repairing his facial features and everything about him that he had lost in that moment of panic. The composure came back and the smile seemed less forced and more real, his eyes shone with their emerald gleam and he waved a hand absently.
"Really. I'll be alright... I really should get going however. Do have fun meeting the professors and students. They're all quite interesting." He was fading out as if confused if he truly wanted to go or not. No. No he didn't think he wanted to. He wanted to try to find a confiding friend and Jaden could be a start, but not now. It was too soon. He could trust no one but himself. Turning himself ever so slightly cold he said -a little too quickly- "Perhaps I'll see you around. Good-bye!" And then Nathaniel was gone. It would be the first time he'd actually jogged away to do something less important then answering a command from his parents.
Things were going strange. Not just for him, but for the world... and he wondered how much longer he could sustain himself before it all fell apart. He'd need to come up with some things soon. Could he do it alone? He doubted it these days but as soon as he could access more information... soon as he could... the world should be afraid of his concoctions and ideas.

He was not normally good with others--mostly just formal and polite, and curious--but this boy with all his seeming softness and innocence reminded him of his family, especially his brother, and his heart stung a little at the thought of the family he'd left in Iliodean.
"You're welcome to come up and interact with them whenever you want. Gilnuir seems to like you terribly."
A pause. "...You'll still have to sign up for fifteen minute sessions, however." Because no matter how much he liked the boy, he had to be fair to the other students. "They do tend to be round and about, though.
"And these actually are a little smarter. They were a gift from a neighboring village's ruler...before we were sealed away. Perhaps it has something to do with evolution. I don't know. But from my observations these three are more intelligent...although certain professors have chosen to take advantage of that and teach them rather--"
"Luv you, Teytey," croaked Gelnuir.
"Bedroom now," croaked Gilnuir.
"...unscrupulous things."

Irame smiled warmly once more at the boys enthusiasm and happiness and was surprised to find that he remembered her name too. “It is wonderful to meet you too. And I am glad that you like it here, Elijah.” She replied lightly. “You’ve enrolled in the school for magic correct?” She asked, looking him up and down once. He looked more like someone who would have signed up for magical research. Someone who would have expected a quite and reserved professor to be in charge of that department and then got Javelin. “It’s always nice to get new students in the magic department.” She looked around and spotted Greg relatively near by so she quitted down a little. “Truth be told we’re beating the Tech department by tons of students.” She laughed lightly. "And most of our students are better, in our opinions, and I'm sure that you will be too."

Hearing the friendly rivalry Irame spoke of about the two branches rather entertained Elijah and instantly made him curious and motivated. Certainly he would try his best to help the magic department win such a wonderful title or at least something that was suggested. Of course, he understood that with more students signed up for magical research it would only make sense for their being ahead of the tech department simply because of the unequal distribution of students on either side. Still, he vowed to himself he would do his best, study, work hard, and live up to not only the title his branch created for themselves, but the honored name of ShinKami. "Thank you Ma'am, I'll try my best," he answered, though felt in the pit of his heart the anxiety that creped along when given such responsibility.

Irame noted that Elijha looked... worried was it? she wasn't really sure. She was used to her own childrens looks, who were always very easy to read, and had grown unused to other students looks.
"You know," she said, "you just have to try as best you can, there are no other standers. I mean our rivarly with the Tech dpartment is more for fun than anything else. Besides, it's more inportant to be you. I mean people thought that I was insane when I was younger and then it turned out I really could see Death, was a Necromancer, and then I became a teacher her." She smiled. "So just do what you can."
Greg stifeled a laugh as the birds spoke, and then looked at Dante. He gave the other professor a bright and charming smile.
"Oh, come on Dante. With the ribbons you can tell them apart right away, no bitten fingers, and the person that taught them to talk could have done a lot worse. I mean you never actually proved that it was me, and I really don't know why you think that it was." He said clasping his hands together.

Listening to her words, the boy understood quite a bit more about his teacher and with a small smile he gave her a nod, comprehending what she also meant. But that was his problem, he wasn't sure what his talent was or if he even had one somewhere concealed within him. Certainly they wouldn't have let him into this school without some sort of assurance in his abilities. Still, Elijah promised himself right there and then to do his best and succeed. "I'll live by what I believe in and what I know," he answered her, confident in her words.
