Marching cymbals is completely optional.
I don't see the point of them, anyway, the parts could easily be covered in the pit. It's like battery for beginners. rolleyes

not true. marching cymbals have all types of sounds. in the pit, the most we do with cymbals, is hit suspended cymbals. in the line, they do all types of stuff, like sizzles, crashes, bell taps, and flashes. they add flash to the line, while making the music thicker ( if you know what i mean)
Yeah! Plus, when a piece calls for a cymbal to hold for snare...wacha gunna do if the only cymbals you have are in pit?
I played marching cymbals and marching bass, and i decided to go back to marching cymbal because it was more fun, and i liked it better because it adds depth to the music. (Cymbal=Epic)
and its not "battery for Beginners" Have you ever seen DCI Cymbals? or Collage level cymbals? and you call that "Battery For Beginners? You really need to learn what exactly you are talking about before you run your mouth like that. Please... rolleyes
