Junior looked back up at Raken, "Blame it on Dad. He's the one who got it to stick. And now you're a great grandpa, grandma Raken." Junior said, knowing that Raken would be annoyed at this statement. "Well, the best we can hope for is that neither of them are doing anything to cause more chaos."

"Raken, are you sure it was a good idea to bring her out here?" Starry asked, concerned what this might do to the child. "I know, she's your daughter, and you raised most of your siblings, you do know best, but still I'm concerned about her." She said, telling the star to float just above them. It would have to stay there to provide sufficent light for the small group. "Why don't we check by the bridge, I think I saw a few pae there before we got into the tree."

(( Sorry for the late reply Umi. I had a bit of Rl stuff to take care of.))

With junior's help,Ayiana pullied herself securely onto a tree before stiffening up at the sight that had just been unfolded before her. "What happened here" Ayiana thought to herlsef and she made sure that Ivan was holding on to her tightly before she continuced carefully on her way to where Junior and the other were. "Maybe I shouldn't have brought you Ivan, this could be dangerous." She sayed in a worried tone as see looked about the mud covered area before looking down at her younger brother in her arms.

Ivan looked up at his older sister with a somewhat happy expression and hugged her tightly. He was glad that she had brought him along and wouldn't want to be anywhere else beside by her side. "Me glad me come,Yana." The yellow toddlar sayed as she dug his face into her hair to block the harsh wind from his eyes.

"Aww,Thanks Ivan." Ayiana loved her brother dearly and would hate the thought of putting him in the way of any type of harm. "Well let's find out what's going on here." The purple fae then moved over towards Junior, who had just covered a small pae'il with a blanket, and listened to the conversation that was occuring.

"At this point of time, I do not trust Dyas with anyone but me." He responded quietly, lifting a hand to catch a dropped item from his bird, and noting one fly in a familiar direction. He wrapped it around his belt before seeing the bird back up to search again. Why would his shadow bird be going there? Probably the...oh. "Can't. But if you'd like, follow me. I think I may have a lead and if I do not follow..." The bird could dissapate and he'd completely lose it. The demonic started after it, holding his child protectively. "and stop calling me grandma Junior!" The child reached down and took the object wrapped around his belt to hold it gently in her hands. It was pretty...maybe her father would even let her keep it.

Starry kept the star over Raken's head, following him closely. "You know best." She said, looking back at her son. The purple fae had caught up and it seemed he was filling her in on what had happened. She figured he would catch up, though Raken was going quite fast.

Junior looked at Ayiana. "Come on, we need to stay close to Raken, he is far smarter than any of us." He said, about ready to take off again. "Grandma Raken!" He called to Raken, just to keep a lighter mood. It was bad enough that there were children about this night, let alone while this island was doing such a thing to pae. "If you need a break from carrying him, don't hesitate to ask." Junior stated, taking off after Raken.

Saffron nodded at Aoaka's question and pointed to a particular footprint. "See these? Well, they don't tell us much by themselves, but I figure if we follow them instead of wandering around aimlessly, we'll either find more clues...or find the footprint makers themselves."

A new idea struck Saffron and he curved his path back towards the prints. Why worry about preserving them anyway if it meant that they might miss something else? What if one of the Pae'il had dropped something? It could be lying nearby, buried in the mud, or even stepped on and left in one of the footprints themselves!

The mixed angel slowed his progress a bit as he started sifting through the mud with his feet. No longer worried about getting dirty, he started using his hands as well to sift though the muck. His curiosity was definitely getting the better of him.

The purple fae nodded her head as she watched the others start to follow a demonic pae who seemed pretty odd,but knowing that looks don't tell everything,Ayiana didn't question anything at all. "So that must be the smart pae named Raken that junior is talking about." Ayiana sayed to herself as looked down at Ivan with worried expression. It was getting a bit cold and the yellow toddlar demon did seem to be holding on to her not only to be cold, but also to stay warm. "Maybe I should go back." Ayiana thought to herself softly as she held onto him tightly in hope of giving him even more warmth. "But we've come way to far now to stop and I'd hate for him to feel that he's stayed our 'lil adventure'." She then decides to go on and replied softly to junior's statement. "I'm fine, but don't worry I won't hesistate to ask." The teenaged fae then quickly followed the others as they continuce on there way behind Raken.

As his older sister continuced on her way following the others,Ivan looked up from under Ayiana's hair and looked around. "What...go...on?" The yellow toddlar says in a small suttering voice that hinted how cold he actually was.

Ayiana heard the toddlar's question and looked down at him in a concerned tone. "I don't know Ivan. I haven't found out yet,but as soon as I do then I'll tell you. O.k?" She then thought of how their mother would surely punish her for allow her little brother to be out way past his usual bed time and in sure harsh conditions at that. "Grounded here I come..." The purple fae sayed with a sigh before noticing a little yellow/black backpack stripped to Ivan back. "Ivan you have your backpack?!"

The yellow demon then nods his head slowly before taking it off his back and opening it to reveal his small red/yellow baby blanket, toy truck and uneaten afternoon lunch. "See...me fill it with mi stuff." Ivan sayed with a wide smile toward his sister and in his half broken toddlar speech.

Ayiana returned a small smile of her own before pulling out the small blaket and returning the backpack closed up to Ivan's back. She then slows down a bit to take the blanket and cover Ivan with it tightly before returning to her usual speed. "There, that should keep you a bit warmer." The purple pae sayed feeling less worried about him and with a smile. "Now to find out what happened." She thought to herself as she concerned more on the island's mysterious problem.

Aoaka nodded. "I thought that was what you had in mind. Do you want me to help search through the mud? We should check the branches and bushes, too. Something might have gotten caught in them," he answered.

The Naiad knelt to add his own hands to the work of sorting through the watery soil they were walking through. It was so dark with muck that he couldn't see through it, so it was all done by touch. He hoped nothing lived in the mud, but ignored that train of though. After all, finding out what had happened to that poor Pae was more important!

He moved a short distance from Saffron, so that they weren't both searching the same area, and also gave the surrounding trees a good once over, looking for any broken branches that might hold a clue.

Saffron nodded, shooting Aoaka the briefest of smiles. "Good idea. I hadn't thought of that." It was tiring and difficult work sifting through the mud, but necessary. They could overlook some important clue if they weren't careful.

Saffron eyed the footprints with an analytical eye. Something very odd was going on here. Suddenly, his eyes opened widely. That...wasn't a Pae'il footprint...

And were those drag marks? Something had definitely happened here. He moved ahead, noting everything he found and logging it away for further consideration later.

"Any luck over there, Aoaka?" he called out after a while, noticing the distance had increased more between the two searchers than he'd realized. He frowned, shaking his head slightly. It would take more than two determined Pae'il to search this entire swamp. They needed to pinpoint exactly what they were supposed to be looking for. Moving further ahead, still following the prints, he groped about in the mud, feeling for anything that didn't feel like muck and soil.

Aoaka shook his head. "Nothing here, I'm afraid," he said, and then sighed, adding, "I'm not even sure what to look for, really. I'm not used to looking for something like this."

He gave the mud another once over, and then stood up, scraping mud off his knees, and moving ahead as well. He thought that maybe something could be seen from a higher vantage point, and clambered up the nearest sturdy tree, clinging unsteadily to the branches, and giving the area they were searching a once over.

Saffron chuckled softly, shaking his head. "I have no idea either. Not exactly a common occurrence I'm used to dealing with, ya' know. Though, I'm just looking for anything that doesn't look like mud, muck, and more of the same." His voice was tired and while he hadn't been completely out of luck, he had no idea what to do with or make of what he'd found. Bird prints and signs that something had been dragged? Yeah, that was helpful.

"Well, judging by these marks, I'd say that whatever WAS here is gone now, taken by some bird. Maybe, if it was heavy enough, it would have dropped it again, but we can't depend on that. I say we see where these tracks lead. The trail is only getting colder while we mess around here in the Marsh. If we hurry, maybe we can actually catch up to whoever left these tracks in the mud." Looking up, he realized he'd lost his bearings in the marsh and while he could still see the prints clearly enough, he couldn't tell where they led. The possiblities were many too. There was Tuatha Ri Lake to the north, leaving Pae'kippu Beach to the northeast and Loka Nei Forest to the northwest...now...where could they have gone?

His mind set, Saffron began slogging through the muck once more at as fast a pace as he could manage, following the mysterious sets of footprints.

Aoaka dropped down from the tree, sinking into the soft ground a bit before recovering and heading after Saffron again. He kept an eye out as they walked for the same things they'd been looking for so far. Anything that looked out of place, basically.

"Saffron... earlier you asked about your son... I never got to answer, but I haven't seen him. I'm sorry," he said, as they walked, while he looked about. He had no reason to, but he felt vaguely guilty that he had nothing to tell the Pae he was traveling with.

Saffron paused and glanced back at Aoaka with a sad smile and a shake of his head. "Thanks. Don't worry about it though. It's not your fault or anything. I was worried initially when I heard about the attack, since he was still missing, but I'm sure that he's okay. He's probably off somewhere, completely oblivious about any of this."

He resumed slogging along slowly as Aoaka caught up. "He's always been rather independent and liked taking off on his own. I used to keep watch over him when he did so, but I should have realized I couldn't do that forever. He is a teenager and it's only natural that he wants to live his own life. Afterall, I set off on my own and did the same thing at his age."

*In the past *

Coronus stood in the mud she felt the rain upon her. Though some thing was happening before her some thing that look to be a fight. She held her staff and started to run though the mud well as best as you can run though the mud well actually the mud ran though her she was not there. "what in the world. She could make out the figures that she way there was some faeries and she stopped That could not be what she thought it was.
"It looks like a half angle half demon that were just put together."

Aoaka nodded. "You're probably right. He might have found somewhere to wait out the storm, and hasn't come out yet. The sky hasn't cleared, so there could still be some weather coming," he said, trying to see the sky, but the overhanging branches were really too think to see through.

"Where do you think these tracks are leading to? I think it's away from the Lake, but I'm not sure..." he said a moment later. He'd never been this far from the lake before... but the surroundings were so damp that he wasn't bothered by the air.

Jazz flew from the Houses of Healing back to the Marsh. This time she didn't get her feet into the mud. Instead she just floated on top. She found where there seemed to be a struggle by the bridge. "Humm..." She said as she began to look for foot prints or at least some sort of trial on which way to go.
