Alturius shrugged again. "Maybe because I like the thought of power, it wouldn't really be much of a change, I don't think I'd be a bad king, I think the people would really love me, besides, all I'd ask is for taxes, and not that many at that. It would be a big boon for the Isle I'm sure!" The truth was, Alturius was a breed meglomanic through and through.

Reira's steps began to push the tempo of the music as her frustration escaped into her dancing. "You don't have to control people to have power... People should love you for being who you are. For being like them. Not because you tell them to. Not because you have their money." She paused. "You have to be loveable, first." That was by far the closest Reira had ever come to flat-out insulting someone. She instantly felt the pang of guilt, but it was lost to her need to understand what Alturius could possibly be thinking.

Alturius shrugged. "Eh, whatever works best, the best kings were loved for their kindness and the protection they brought, I intend to do that, I may fail, I don't know, but it's worth a shot." Slowly he began to notice that she was geting frustrated. "Would it really be that bad? To have someone protect you and tell you what the rule were? Right now I can do anything I want, and the only way I can be stoped is if someone stops me by force? What kind of life is that?"

"Those Kings weren't here, though." Reira shook her head. "And being protected and being told what I can and cannot do are two different things. The Guardians and the Elders protect us. We protect each other. That kind of life is made up of trust. Haven't you noticed? Everyone trusts everyone else." She sighed. "Except for you, apparently."

Alturius laughed. "It's not a question of trust, it's a question of reality, eventually, someobody is going to figure out that they can do something and not get in trouble for it because there are no laws, and they're going to take advantage of that. There is nothing wrong in a place with no laws." Shaking his head. "It's basic nature, hell, my MOTHER is already like that, the time is now, there is going to be a revolution, and I would hope someone with your looks won't be one of the ones up against the wall when it hits. Pick the winning team now and save yourself the issue of having to try to plead later."
Truth be told, Alturius was NOT a nice person.

"There's nothing wrong in a place with no laws!" Reira repeated. "Exactly! We're all just fine. What bad has ever happened to you here?" She wanted to fix things. Somehow. "And how is it that you're going to protect us if you're telling my back will be to a wall when you achieve power?"

"You see that's the problem, we shouldn't be, which is what I really can't understand. Obviously the people here are either too GOOD, or the element that causes people to take advantage of this situation is missing. Either way, I already know that there are several people who are willing, able, and ARE taking advantage of the lack of law. I know I will." Alturius shook his head. "It's not my fault that the people here are too weak to take advantage of an extremely advantagous situation."

Reira felt trapped. Alturius had a hand on her waist, and her heart wouldn't let her simply walk away from this. "If people are being good, why do you want to mess with that? Why do you have to be the one who causes our perfect world to change? If so many others are 'taking adavantage of the lack of law' as you say, why isn't anyone getting hurt by that? How is that 'taking advantage,' then?"

Alturius shrugged. "Price of progress, we won't get anywhere as a civilization unless we have structure, now civilization means not culture, not culutre no growth, I'm just looking to set things back to rights again, after all, we did lose most of our civilization to a civil war, so why not set it up so that NEVER happens again."

"You're trying to start another civil war to fix what happened in a civil war of the past! I'm happy with the way things are now." And then Reira asked a question she'd normally never ask. "What's in it for me, then? Really. How would I, or any other normal person, benefit? It seems like the only one who's going to be happy is you!"

"Well it wouldn't be a civil war if you all just smiled and followed my lead, I'm not that bad a person I swear, as to that, well, lets see, I'll build roads, I'll make jobs, you'll have plenty of good things to eat, all for just some taxes, I hear the city has just been finished, so could you image the wonderful things I could do with that, with a ruler, we could begin trade with the world outside the island, the benefits far outway the possible costs." Alturius hated these kinds of arguements.

"I believe that you think you're doing the right thing, but..." Reira shook her head. "Maybe you should wait until the city opens. They're holding elections for mayor, aren't they? Maybe that's all the lead we really need for now." Reira could feel her argument slipping. She was so easy to believe anything that it was getting harder and harder to disagree. Maybe he was right, she conceded. Those things sounded nice, didn't they? But weren't they all things that were going to happen anyway?

A small salamander crawled around the spa for awhile and looked around, spotting a small pool he smiled and jumped in "If this place has water then that's all I need" He closed his eyes and started to grow until he was a water patterned angelic Pae with two different eye colors. He sighed and rubbed his green hair as he relaxed in the pool "Water, no matter where it is, it's still my favorite thing, as long as it's not muddy water" He yawned and flapped his angel wings alittle, creating a few drops to fly around
