Eskevar Fire Cross Chestnut stuck out one furred hand " Nice to meet you Elix!" he said enthusiastically. Everyone started to move forward for a time and the fox followed, content to be in between the bear and the scorpion (feeling it was probably the safest place). After walking for some time he became aware of a tantelizing scent that made his mouth water. Distracted by the scent he ran into the Thomas' solid back with a dull *Wumph* when the bear came to a sudden halt.
" What's the hold up?" he asked innocently as he made his way around the bear. He stood stock still trying to process the gruesome sight, but when Elix' cool was shattered all reasoning capacity ceased. He screamed and dashed for cover behind Thomas. He encountered a solid object. The force of the impact threw him to the cold metal floor.
" THEY GOT ME!!!" he shouted as he checked himself for wounds. " Elix? Are you all right?" He asked as he scrambled to his feet, almost blind with terror. Elix screamed again when he collided with something in his attempt to flee, it wasn't until Chesnut spoke that he realized he'd run headlong into his freind. Still quivering he checked himself for injuries, finding none he rushed over to Chesnut, cowering beside him "The'll eat the bigger ones first right?" he squeeked, and then considering his own words, he glanced calculatingly at Thomas, deciding that thebear was by far the biggest creature he proceeded to hide behind him, peeking out nervously at the one who looked most likely to try and eat someone,...namely Aion.

Sabel eyes the sight rather cooly considering the gruesome circumstances. "Uhg, whatta mess..." She mumbles under her breath. At about that time she realizes that the food smell she had been scenting for some time now was the scene before her. A part of her wanted nothing more than to lick the blood off of the walls and crack into the marrow of the cow-girl's bones. Somehow, I doubt that's the course of action I should take right now. sweatdrop She shifts her weight uncertainly and watches the two smaller anthropomorphs attempt to flee and bumble into each other. Irritated by her own strange desires towards eating the carrion before her she scolds with more force than she'd usually show. "Shut up or I'll bite you two!" She snaps. "Someone DIED have a little respect, you runts! SHe probably had family, maybe a boyfriend or even a husband, maybe she has children! Stop behaving like a couple of little girls in a haunted house!" She grumbles to herself. "Besides why would we even bother to eat a couple of tiny shrimps like you, the only predators among us are big game eaters, you don't even register on our hunting senses. Besides, who knows where you two have been." She snorts and turns away, crossing her arms over her chest, out wardly it would seem she was just displaying disgust, but in reality she was doing so to restrain herself from reaching towards the carcass.

Chestnut yipped at Sabel's sudden outburst. He settled down immediatly however. He remained where he sat with shoulder hunched over and tail curling around him feeling very much ashamed at himself. He didn't know why everything set him off like this, he was normally an emotional pendulum but this was ridiculous.
He looked around with his emrald green eyes shimmering, almost as if he was going to cry. He looked over to Elix and sniffed pathetically, " I wonder what her name is..... should we...... do something er...... bury her? I think I remember something about that's a good thing to do...." he paused, " a respectful thing for somebody who died." he stumbled over the words searching foggy recolections of another life. He fiddled with his collar trying to avoid looking and very disgusted with himself for his own watering mouth.

"I've met her before," Thomas said quietly, "but I didn't know her. Recently, at least. Who knows what might have been in the past..." His solemn gaze regarded the fox thoughtfully; apparently he was capable of more than panic attacks. "You're right, though. I didn't think of it, but we certainly can't leave her here. It would be... disrespectful to her memory. She had to have been important to someone." He gently slid his massive arms around her once-considerable bulk, trying not to get too much blood on himself, and continued with the others until a few moments later they reached a sliding doorway larger than the rest they'd encountered. As they slowly opened to reveal a refreshing sight for very sore and confused eyes, Thomas nodded to a guard who had been posted just inside, a canine woman whose name he could not remember. Her fur stiffened in shock as she saw the body in his arms, but he quickly explained the situation as the group filed in behind him.
"Who's still out and about? Are any of the other groups back yet?" He decided to wait until they were with everyone else currently in Sanctuary before voicing his suspicions.

Lune remained silent when the body of the bovine female was discovered. His senses did not detect any hostility in the area and the body did seem to have been there for enough time that any predator would have left the area. However, in order to support the rather fragile emotional states of those others there Lune tensed his muscles, particularly in his tail and kept himself on the strategically weakest side of the group at all times through the remainder of the trip.
Lune would have suggested that he could have carried the corpse with greater ease but it seemed appropriate that the only one who knew her at all should carry her, even though he seemed to care about the blood in his fur only slightly less than the body in his arms. He followed the group into the new area, noting the diminished glare and the guard immediately. The guard was occupied with Thomas so Lune moved into the nearest shadow in order to be close enough to be both seen and useful but also to be far enough away that his appearance wouldn't panic the female canine. His black carapace blended into the shadow slightly, although the shadow was significantly lighter than his own body. He raised a hand and ran it through his dark blonde hair, disorderly as it was after all of his shifts in posture, as he lowered his significant mass to a position more of rest than anything else. Lune was not tired physically but he was feeling a kind of mental and emotional weariness that had grown suddenly stronger with the discovery of the corpse. It seems that I will have to use this stinger soon... I hope not. He closed his human eyes behind chitinous lids and listened, more to his thoughts than to the words of those around him.

Aion watched subdued, as the emotions and shock played over the various peoples faces. He felt a wrench of guilt when the ferret-man eyed him fearfully. And finnally when Thomas picked up the corpse and began to carry it away, Aion had to avert his gaze. Drifting to the rear of the group, Aion was surprised to find himself comforted by the one person who had terrified him before. He walked wordlessly beside Lune, and followed the scorpions lead into the sanctuary. His nose perked once at the scent of the canine, but he wished for solitude at present. His black and grey fur blended well with the shadows he and Lune occupied, and he crossed his arms over the patch of white fur which adorned his chest. The silence was companionable, and hoping to comfort another as he had begun to relax he strove to catch Sabel's eye.wordlessly motioning for her to join them.

furry1337otaku Uncomfortable in the presence of strangers, Sabel backs off and drifts to the back of the party, noticing Aion's invitation. Sabel flicks her ears uneasily. "So...uhhh...what are we supposed to do now?"
The fox still somewhat subdued.... and still a little bit afraid of Sabel fidgeted. Everyone seemed to be moving off in different directions. Thomas with the guard and the hound-girl.......... something about hounds and foxes flickered in his memory, not a comfortable memory.
He passed over Aion without even considering going over there...... the wolf-man still triggered a massive surge of flight instinct. He sort of lost sight of Elix and so decided to wander over to Lune. He walked over stealthily and settled himself out of Lune's range of vision (not knowing if his presence would annoy the scorpion) looking out over the sanctuary.
Now that he had time to pause and reflect Chestnut realized he was a wreck. His nerves were frayed, everything looked and smelled strange, he didn't know from one momment to the next if he was going to be eaten by another animal or by something worse. The little fox started sobbing with overwrought emotion. He had a faint feeling this wasn't manly but he didn't care as he slipped into slumber.
It was bright, I wish it was raining (what is rain?) There is a hole in the ground.... marring the gentle green carpet of grass. A long box is in the hole. Somebody is crying...... he is crying. Hands try to pick him up, ( Did he have hands without fur once?) he pushes them away......... MOM!!! the words fade into silence.

Elix nervously followed the others, flitting between the larger weres with ease. All these bodies moving about made him somewhat disoriented, and it wasn't until most of them had filtered away that he realized he's lost sight of the only one he considered a freind. Somewhat panicked now, He dashed about trying to locate his fellow, fearing the vulpine might have gotten lost or worse. It was with a deep sigh of relief that he noticed Chestnut curled unhappily beneath a tree. Scurrying over to him Elix settled next to the fox with a contented sigh, noting his freind's unconcious state, he simply relaxed next to him. Unwittingly falling asleep himself, it had been a long and unnerving day! While he snoozed, Elix's animal instincts moved in and curled his body around the comforting warmth the fox provided. Creating one big red and white furry ball.

"Who's still out and about? Are any of the other groups back yet?" He decided to wait until they were with everyone else currently in Sanctuary before voicing his suspicions. A hound girl waited quietly at the gates of the sanctuary hoping against hope that at least some of those sent out would return. Only one had returned so far..... and she had returned alone and refused to talk about what she had seen.
Copper was just at the point of wandering down the corridor a few paces when she heard people aproaching. Her droopy hound ears perked up when the doors slid open to admit the massive bulk of Thomas... and not just Thomas. She saw the bloody mess in his paws.... the human part of her mind recoiled just as the canine part registered an apetizing smell.
She took account of those who followed and she could not help thinking, " All predetors.... and another wolf..... this could be bad." Thomas ambled over to her as the others dispersed quietly, she catalouged the group, a scorpion, a heyena, a ferret and a fox, she wanted to remember them.
" Only you and Sesha have returned...... and Sesha returned alone," the hound-girl replied to the bear's questions. " Things are deterorating rapidly though, I'm afraid it won't be much of a sanctuary soon," Copper sighed regretfully, " There is food enough for the herbavores and the omnivores here, but there are by far, more predators. We carnivores are hungry and getting hungrier. There is a wolfman, a big one, he wants to allow those who wish to eat the bodies of the fallen.... but I don't think it will stop there. He has attracted a lot of the predators to him. They run roughshod over everyone. A lionman named Kani has started his own faction to resist the wolf.... a lot of the big cats are with him...... but there are other factions, everyone is nervous especially the herbavores. I.... I... just don't know what to do."

Lune listened in silence, the tension in the hound's voice rousing him from his thoughts. His eyes remained closed and he noticed something new. I can feel them... as they move... vibrations. I see. My eyes aren't what I should be focusing on... it's how their movement stirs the air and ground. This whole ship seems to vibrating slightly but I can still discern individual movements. He then opened his eyes and turned them on Thomas and the hound girl. He was well aware of the sleeping ones near him and spoke very quietly, pitching his voice to carry.
"It sseemss that thiss iss a rather unsstable plasse. If you have need of me... assk. After all... sscorpionss are not a sspessiess that sshrinkss from hunting predatorss." Lune's eyes were calm and his face... carapaced and unreadable as he spoke. His tail and its deadly stinger were above him in a position of rest but still a symbol of death. I do not wish to have to kill but... if those predators are going to allow themselves to become murderers then... I must stop them if I can. I am stronger than any of these furred ones.

"Factions...that doesn't sound good..." Sabel mutters. In fact, the thought was particularly bothersome to her. Such things had one interpretation. That they would all be trying to recruit as many to their side as possible, meaning a solitary Hyaena was likely to be pestered until joining one of them. Something she really did not want to do. It wasn't just her instincts that were repelled by the thought of a 'group' mentality, but an aversion to the hieracrchial structures that would exist within. Those were something she immensely disliked, because more often than not, she would wind up at the bottom of the pecking order, and by the sound of things, it would quite likely be violent. A low growl rumbled in her throat at the thought. I refuse to become an omega. However she knew very well that there was little she could use in her own defense. The largest creatures a Stiped Hyena ever exerted authority over were leopards. Everything higher drove them off.

As the dream receded from his mind Chestnut realized his position in relation to the little ferret-man. " Um.... Elix," he coughed, " ......why are you fondeling my leg?" Elix froze, unconciously tightening his grip on said limb. His stunned gaze traveled from Chestnuts face, to the thigh he clasped back to the fox, and then to the leg again. 5 times did he glance between the two until finally with a nervous chuckle he released Chestnut with a certain over-quick force, "Oh,...ah....heh heh heh, well...um, good morning?"
