"Oh nothing," Karen said to Lisha. She quickly checked her bag to make sure everything was in it before heading up to Gryffindor Tower.
"Gosh dang it! My wand is missing!" She was already dreading going back to the Great Hall. She turned to Lisha. "I suppose you'll want to accompany me back to the Great Hall then?"

Lisha nodded, "I don't want you to get in trouble by fighting with that girl again... Do you know what house she was in?" Lisha was still learning the different houses and what they were best known for.

"Ravenclaw," Karen replied as they stepped into the Great Hall. She began to search for that blasted piece of wood.

"How do you know? Did you know her last year? What year is she in?"

"I didn't know her until today. I know her year now since she spat it at me. She's a second year." Karen bend over and looked under the Hufflepuff table. She reached under and grabbed the slender piece of wood. "Finally, we can go back up to Gryffindor Tower."

Lisha, now that the fighting was over and Karen had found her wand, bounced happily through the halls to the Gryffindor Tower at Karen's side

"Lisha, aren't you even tired at all?" Karen yawned as they climbed what seemed like the millionth stair case.

Lisha seemed to think about it for a while, "No, not really."

"I see," Karen yawned again. "Augh... I wonder what time it is. It's strange we haven't gotten in trouble yet for being out this late."

Her eyes went a little wider than usual, "We could get into trouble for getting your bag?"

"Uh... no. We are out past nine o'clock, I think. It's not allowed really, so we'd better hurry up." Karen began to walk a bit faster despite her tiredness.

Lisha sped up too, but because she did, she wasn't looking where she was going and so got her leg stuck in the trick stair.

Karen sighed impatiently. She turned around and put her hands on her hips. "Didn't anybody tell you anything about this place before you got here?" Karen asked. She leaned forward, grabbed Lisha's right arm, and easily pulled her up, out of the step.

"Hmm." Karen continued up the stairs.
Finally they reached the portrait of the fat lady.
"Oh, I don't believe it!" Karen said, slamming her fist on the painting. The fat lady was nowhere to be seen. "Of all nights to go party with her other painting friends!"
