i did Spanish at school(long time ago now
sweatdrop )only for 6 months though because we moved away.
i really enjoyed it, was very good at it too! British schools teach French as a default foreign language, usually from when you start secondary school aged 11. you then learn it for 3 years.when kids start their 4th year at secondary school they choose the final subjects they want to study, many choose to drop French then, i wanted to but my Mum wouldn't let me
mad But the way it's taught is dull, verbs and more verbs
talk2hand The Spanish i learned was more conversational, aimed at tourists. We learned to ask and give directions, to tell the time and various other things like that, one of the first phrases i remember learning was donde esta la playa
cool got to get your priorities right
blaugh but i never got to continue my spanish lessons
sad it's a shame, personally i'd have thought it would be more sensible to teach spanish in British schools rather than French. Surely far more countries speak a variation of Spanish than are French speaking?
In my opinion, British schools only started teaching French simply because it's the nearest 'proper' foreign country, as in outside of the British Isles. i suppose i should be grateful that they don't make us all learn
Welsh eek Here's a sentence in Welsh just so you understand what i'm getting at
lol Rydw' i'n dysgwr newydd o Gymraeg, ac rydw i'n gobeithio byddwch chi'n meddwch y croeseiriau hwn.
i've no idea what it says though!
