It was easy enough for her to stand straight up, look offended, stomp her foot in absolute exasperation, and teleport away with only a feather to take her place, but easy wasn't always the best, and it certainly wouldn't help her sleep at night. The girl watched her liar with a blank expression, and when he finished, the only response she offered was a nod and, "Alright." She stood slowly from her place on the floor in front of him, taking time to dust off her frilly high society dress and corset (which wasn't quite as tight anymore, considering there was less of her to fill it), and then look down at her counterpart with an expectant face. "Well?" She glanced around the cupboard once indifferently, and then back at Emyrus. There would be no more stupid arguing on her part today. This matter was settled, done, completely and entirely over with, and her counterpart could rant and rave and come up with an endless list of reasons as to why she should get out of this house right this minute and leave him the hell alone to his heart and soul's content. She wouldn't be teleporting without him anytime soon (or ever), and, quite frankly, she saw no reason why he had to stay here at all.
Then again, she didn't know the reason he was here in the first place, either.

At first he let himself think she was going to just give in with good graces, be the mature one, the polite and proper one. Then, as she started to stand, he remembered that she was neither, mature, polite, or proper. He frowned, watching her face turn expectant.
"Well what?" he asked, standing up. She wasn't going out that cupboard door, especially if he didn't know where Ilaria and Meyra were. If there was some way to teleport her out, tie her to her dresser or something in the Purgier Mansion and make her stay put, he would. Then again, she could teleport too, so that was out.
Shitty days called for shitty luck, apparently.

"Are we going to stay in this broom closet all day?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. The girl turned towards to door and placed a hand on the knob, and then shifted to look back at him. Expectant. Whatever the reason he was here, she'd eventually find out. Unless he became extremely pissed off and punched her in the face and knocked her out (and last she knew, that would certainly affect his soul as much as hers), Fidel was staying put. And if she did go back to the Purgier mansion, and Lord Evanescere happened to ask her where he dear counterpart was, what could she say? She wasn't a professional liar like Emyrus--not verbally, anyway, and the madman would undoubtedly become suspicious if she explained very politely that he was in some unknown noble's house with his unknown lime-eyed noble relatives in some deep, unknown noble s**t.
Possibly.

So there were two choices, apparently. One: Stay in this damn broom closet all day and hope Ilaria didn't feel like bothering him (fat chance), because Fidel wouldn't leave without him. Two: Break his promise to his sister, possibly lose all contact with her again, have a high chance of screwing her over, and keep Fidel safe by leaving.
Both had pros and cons-- cons he wasn't able to live with, and pros he wasn't able to live without. Option One and Two battled back and forth as he leveled a stare at Fidel.
"Right. Get you out," he mumbled, not intending for her to hear, but not caring much if she did. He kicked open a board on the floor, grabbing a piece of paper that was blank on the back and a black pen. As he crossed to the old cot, he prayed the pen still had ink. Apparently it did, because his blocky handwriting came out just fine on the back of the paper. He scanned the original words to make sure he was writing on the correct document before lying it wet-ink-up on the bed.
Without so much as looking at Fidel through the whole process, he put the floorboard back in place. He snatched her hand, the one that was lying on the doorknob expectantly and teleported to some alleyway in the Middle Section.
"So? What are we supposed to do now?" he asked, voice thoroughly irritated. He could get away with the bruise-scars now because it looked like he'd gotten jumped, and for that he was grateful. However, he wasn't exactly grateful that he had Fidel following him, and an inability to go to either the White Building or the Purgier Mansion to crash for the night. His lips pursed. What fun.
Ilaria,
This was fun! Let's do it again sometime, perhaps? Of course, things certainly won't be so easy for you next time; after all, surely it was boring with me just showing up on your doorstep. If you want me home, come find me.
With A Sincere Wish You Get Cancer, Emyrus

Well, Fidel couldn't really say where the answer came from, but there it was, both sparkling and startling to her mind's eye, and she welcomed it. Their situation called for a solution, so here it was. She turned her head to the side and looked at him thoughtfully. "To my house," she replied, offering a small smile--she owed him that much, for being the one to finally bend and leave the stinkin' noble mansion. Although, she still had an itching, absurd curiosity, but she'd placed that out of her thoughts and on the near bottom of her list of worries, because everything else took complete precedence over one silly little curiosity. However, it was odd to think that most, if not all her worries evolved around her liar and counterpart, the idiot who got himself into trouble (again) and sometimes reminded her of a grumpy old man and a youthful moron at the same time. And Vash? her soul probed. "At the bottom of my list--at the moment." she replied inwardly, and this time, she was the one to grab Emyrus and teleport with him. It smelled the same: that familiar, light scent of daffodils. They lined the porch of her quaint white home like little candles, and that was...comforting, she thought, and how weird it was to feel comfortable in such a long time. And once she had this damn, froufrou dress peeled off, she'd be feeling even better. It was a blissful thought indeed. Maaaybe a tad dusty, but all of the furniture, ornaments, and decor were still sitting dutifully in their places, she saw when she teleported inside. The door was locked, of course, because people in the Middle Section (and no doubt the Slums) were not beyond welcoming themselves to everything her mother had left behind. She fluttered into the middle of foyer, and then turned to look at her counterpart, beaming all the while. But then she remembered who he was, and her smile dropped as quickly as it came. "Plain and lowly for you, my lord," she commented between clenched teeth. "Pray excuse me for this...unfit and untidy shack."

Still shaken from the... encounter he'd just escaped, upset that he had to be the gentleman and responsible one, and trying his hardest (and failing miserably) to be lighthearted, Emyrus shoved his hands into his pockets and looked around the house. Really, he never knew she owned the place. Looked like she hadn't been here in a while, though, what with the dust all over the place. Beside that, though, it was a charming little house. Not the ratty houses of the Slums, and not the revoltingly elaborate mansions of the Noble's Section. Content with the surroundings, he let himself smile while looking around him, until Fidel decided to start talking again.
And by start talking, he meant making herself into an extreme dumbass.
"The hell?" he asked. She seemed, well, pretty pissed, though he was sure he hadn't done anything. For God's sake, he even went with her idea! She should have been in a damn good mood, not ready to bite his head off.
"What's wrong with you?"

Naturally, she didn't think through her reply like the (supposedly) analytical soul scientist she was. Fidel bristled at her liar's own response, and the words came tumbling out of her mouth like impulsive children. "Nothing's wrong, my lord. Why would anything be wrong, my lord? What ever gave you that damn notion, my lord?" Her soul stirred and started to pester her about this stupid, meaningless beginning of an argument, but she drowned out the sensible input, ignored the very fact that she should listen to its advice and apologize, and continued. "Why didn't you tell me?" the girl demanded, feeling the infamous lump rise to her throat. "A noble?" Of course, Fidel didn't doubt that Emyrus had a box of secrets hidden away, but this was different from the others (at least she hoped there were no more as important to her as this one). He had to know what she thought of nobles, Vash excluded. The emerald-eyed nobleman wasn't included in the high society any longer, thanks to his madman of a father, and he busied himself too much with revenge and Halycon (she felt strangely indifferent to the blond boy now, but too occupied with the present situation to even take note of it in the back of her mind) to attend the masquerade balls uninvited, or kick around the Middle class without a reason. "Why?" she asked again, knowing very well that it all came down to that stupid question. Fidel suddenly wondered up another "why". Why did she care, when just a few weeks ago she was revolted by the thought of his soul entwined with hers, when he hadn't known that she was actually a girl dressed as an adolescent boy, when all she could think about was how Vash's lips might feel against hers. Oh, no doubt their relationship had taken a better turn than she had hoped for, and soon she found herself laughing at his idiotic jokes in some bizarre and unlikely friendship. So what did that add up to now, now that she had discovered he had kept the secret of his nobility from her, while she had let him in on the truth of her gender? And after tending to his damn cuts and bruises and promising to persuade Vash to hire one of Emyrus's friends into the Science department.
Fidel suddenly felt like an idiot for trusting her liar at all.

He didn't know how she found out, didn't know who told her, but whoever did managed to royally screw him over. Just when things were starting to go in the way he wanted them to, this had to happen.
"So what if I am?" he said, frowning. She had to know he hated them just as much as she did. She had to know he was still the same old Emyrus. Even Fidel had to realize that just because he was his mother's son didn't make him any different. He wasn't going to go prancing around with his nose in the air, insulting anyone that wasn't nobility, and wearing million dollar clothes. Anyone that knew him knew that.
"I'm still the same person, and you know that. What does it matter who my mom is?" he asked, wary. He'd tried to avoid her persistent "why" question, but he didn't honestly expect to get away with it. Just biding enough time to figure out a good answer would be good enough for him.

Fidel eyed her counterpart warily, and then with sudden resignation. She had to at least take his word for it--how else could she know what he was truly like or what he was, anyway? "This city is making me suspicious of everyone." she thought with a chill. And rightly so, considering the kinds of people that creeped around Pendant (with the Purgiers and Tribulations in mind), although drilling Emyrus with questions and mistrust wasn't going to get her anywhere at the moment. So instead she sighed and said, "I hope so." The why still nagged persistently in the back of her thoughts, but after the past few days... The girl placed a finger on her cheek, a hand on her hip, and debated whether she should go back to the White Building or not. It would seem suicidal, although she assumed that she was being...ah laid off, if Vash really meant what he said yesterday. Which she had no doubt that he did. But the thought of leaving the White Building was somehow saddening. Sure, it was run by a soul-hungry madman and his equally insane counterpart, and people dying there was like a weekly event, but never mind that. "I'm going to the White Building," she announced.

Hallelujah, praise the Lord. And here he thought that he had completely run out of good luck. That pretty little lady Luck seemed to have a few more tricks up her sleeves, though, when Fidel realized his being a noble wouldn't make him a p***k. Only Fidel would have been stupid enough to come up with that kind of bullshit anyway. ... Well, okay, he was pretty sure lady Luck was fine with him, until Fidel decided to be an idiot. Again. "Are you sure you just don't have a thing for idiots?" his soul hummed, amused by all his predicaments. Oh, shut it. "Like hell you are," he said with a snort.

"I am!" she replied fervently. "There are things I need from there, if I'm leaving that place." Like clothes that didn't involve corsets that she could choke a cat with. And then she paused and frowned. Oh groan. What was she supposed to do now, now that she lost her job and her place at the White Building, and now that Vash was out for her soul (and her counterpart's as well)? She had lost her worth to Lord Evanescere in the past few days, and that...that was anything but good. He would find out soon enough, and then she'd have both set of Purgiers out to dispose of her, and not to mention with Emyrus still bleeding and Vash still out for his soul because of some twisted grudge, they would be hounding him as well. She thought of the two Tribulations then, and how they would no doubt find amusement (or vindictive pleasure, in Halycon's case) in all of this mess. The entire damn city of Pendant would either be amused, apathetic, or want to join in. The girl looked up at her liar again, biting her lip. "What do we do?"

A frown traced his lips, ready for another verbal battle. He was exhausted, and more than anything, just didn't want to deal with Fidel's stubborn nature. He opened his mouth, ready to put his foot down on the whole issue, when she hesitated. Warily, he clamped his mouth shut, waiting for whatever brilliant reason she was going to spit in his face.
The silence that filled the air thick enough to cut with a knife, though electrified with a spark of anxiety. He narrowed his eyes, waiting for her to finally spit out whatever was on her mind. With the way his shitty luck had been going, it'd probably be her decision to go do something stupid. Again.
As soon as the thought passed through his head, he frowned, repentant for it. She looked up, worried. His arms started to itch with the desire to reach out and comfort her, a stupid thing. He shoved his hands in his pockets to bite down the foolish need when, at last, she spoke her mind.
The old confidence lit his face. If there was one thing he'd been raised on, it was being able to run from people that wanted to kill him.
"You are going to let me use your phone," he said, smirk sliding onto his lips. At last, something comfortingly routine.
... Was it bad that he found running from people after his head comforting?

Of course. Of course.
If there was anybody who could get them out of a situation that involved bloodthirsty crazies chasing after them, it was the idiot standing in front of her. Fidel smiled, and then reached a petite hand down the front of her corset. For contacting other subordinates, calming down a paranoid Narien, and making sure the Science Department didn't kill their latest....experiment, the girl pulled out the small pink cell phone and held it out to her counterpart expectantly. It wasn't like these frou frou noble dresses had any pockets, anyway. The thought of hiding out for a while made her bite her lip. After all, it was Pendant, and sooner later somebody was going to find them, right? Turn them in and collect their reward? Everyone was out for themselves, and if there was one thing she knew, it was that nobody in the city was truly a good person.
Even and especially if they grinned at you.

Emyrus sighed, doing his best to not let his face turn a shade of pink that matched the stupid, girly phone. A few days ago, the last time he'd been into the mansion, he'd decided he didn't really need his phone that day. Like an idiot, he left it in his room, sitting on top of his dresser charging. He cursed his carelessness and knew he wouldn't go anywhere without that phone for a long, long time. Face a (thankfully) almost invisible shade of pink, he typed in the number he could trust, no matter what mess he got into. He let his weight drop into his left hip, phone to his ear as it rang over. And over. And over. This phone had been set to ring 15 times, either so the number would be able to get to it no matter where he was in the house, or to annoy the hell out of people with wrong numbers. As the numbers got past ten, Emyrus found he was running out of patience. 13... 14... 15... "Hello?" the phone's unbelievably stupid owner answered, out of breath for once. There was no way he actually ran for the phone and only barely caught it, no matter what he'd been doing before hand. "God, Cairell, were you knocking Sam up or something?" he joked. He couldn't be sure how safe Fidel's phone was (his phone was a fortress, another reason why he would have loved to have it) so he couldn't afford to use his half-brother's real name. "Ha ha, very funny. What can I help you with?" Alastier asked as a distinctly feminine sigh came from his end. "The usual. Bloodthirsty maniacs out to kill me. Me and a girl a know got in a bit of deep s**t. Can we crash at your place for a couple of days?" he asked looking at the crack where the ceiling met the wall. "As long as you two don't have sex everywhere, it's fine." Emyrus sighed in response. "It's not like that, you idiot," he said, trying not to sound regretful of that fact. "Yeah, okay. Who're you running from this time?" Alastier asked, interest strictly professional. Depending on the level of threat, it would make a difference where his half brother would hide them. "Lord Evanescere Purgier, his son Vash, possibly Currise Tribulation and his son Halycon and Ilaria. I doubt she'll have Meyra looking, but it's a possibility. You know how well the old hag makes her kid listen." Only Alastier would know that when he said kid, he meant kids. "All very determined?" "Extremely so," he answered. "Clothing situation?" Alastier asked, the same feminine voice on the other end asking him something. He could hear something like a muffled "hold on" in answer to whatever question she'd asked. "I'll make sure she gets something, but she might have to borrow some of Sam's. Either way, I won't have any." "All right. You can come. We'll discuss where you'll stay when you're here. Bye," Alastier sighed. He'd obviously caught on that the line wasn't safe when Emyrus called him Cairell instead of Alastier. "See you in a bit," he said, closing the phone. Handing the frilly phone back to Fidel, he said, "Go pack anything you'll want with you, and try to hurry. Don't forget clothes."

It was a wonder that she hadn't realized it before--probably because she imagined everybody in Pendant had something against her counterpart one way or another, and therefore he would have to depend solely on himself. So really, watching him talk to one of his contacts/friends/person he owed big time, was kind of surprising and a little bit wonderful at the same time. "Right. Clothes." She nodded and flitted off, down the hall, a rushed turn to the left, and a skidded stop in the middle of her old bedroom. To the antique, faded pink and gold wardrobe, and... Okay, so not growing even a fraction of an inch since she was eleven did have some advantages. The packing process took about ten minutes, with the girl trying not to fuss over too many things, and attempting to imagine where they'd be going in the first place. Slums? Maybe. But did it really matter, if that was the place where her and her liar could hide out and save their necks for a certain amount of time? Of course, the chances of eventually being found... Pendant was a small city, and no doubt if their happily rich-out-the-a** pursuers couldn't find them, they'd put out a bounty, and... Well at least they tried, right?
She flitted back to where Emyrus waited, one frilly bag in tow.
