Halycon stood, still fuming to go put the picture back up, and throw something else. Or at least arm himself should Vash come in. As he started to stalk to the picture, he stumbled and fell to the ground. It was embarrassing, how he couldn't walk a lot without falling anymore. All because he'd been stuck in Vash's stupid mind for so long. He grumbled, standing up again before fixing the picture. He through the pillow back at the couch it came from, managing to knock another picture off it's nail. He rolled his eyes irately as it crashed against the back of the couch and then onto the floor.

"Dumb things."

Halycon crossed the room again, and tripping and falling once more. After standing up, his legs feeling like rubber. He fixed the picture before stopping and flexing his hands. Even that was hard. Frustrated, he tried again, only to have his knees give out. His anger swelled as he pulled himself back onto the couch, tucking his feet by his bottom, compacted into the corner of the sofa.

He crossed the line, Halycon thought to himself again. He crossed the line, and I don't know if I want to forgive him yet, or at all.

"Of course," Fidel replied, before raising an eyebrow at the wall. There was a lot of crashing and thumping; Vash assumed it was from Halycon's ongoing hissy fit, or...falling. He looked sharply at the door before turning to look at Fidel again. He placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled.
"I'll have these filed out to the departments in the White Building, then," he said, and she nodded, blushing slightly, before leaving the room. Without a second thought, the noble teleported into his counterpart's room, waving away some ebony butterflies that were obscuring his view. Damn things.
Vash studied the boy's room, where he noted some cracks on the glass of a picture on one of the walls. Sighing, he finally stopped his eyes at Halycon.
"Listen, love," he began to explain, walking towards him, hoping the boy would understand.
But if Anakera was right, the noble knew this wouldn't be as easy as he hoped.

He didn't even have to look up to know that Vash teleported in. The little black butterflies stirred the air, and his soul gave a little whimper in fear. It didn't want them to fight, but what did his soul know? That was right, not a damn thing.

He looked up at Vash with hate (he brought it on himself, really, and it wasn't like Vash could blame him for it) and realized that he forgot to arm himself. He looked around for the pillow, but it was at the other end of the couch. Out of other weaponry, Halycon spat at Vash, for the first time he could ever remember.

It was the first time he ever really lost his temper with the man, too.

"No," he said with no intention to change his mind. Vash deserved everything he was giving him. He kissed Fidel. What did he expect, a congratulation?
PostPosted: Sun Dec 23, 2007 12:19 pm

If he had a tail, it probably would've been tucked between his legs by now. Vash stared in shock at his beloved counterpart, who had just spat at him. His own soul groaned in protest, but the Demon was snickering.
Shut it. the noble snapped. The snickering lowered to a cranky hiss. Vash let his hands drop to his sides limply, still staring at Halycon. He let out a slow sigh.
"You're right, of course," he said finally. "I deserve this." He paused, taking in the hate-filled expression, and then continued, "But I have to continue with what I'm doing." He was well aware of the fact that the boy wouldn't listen to his explanation and reasons, so he didn't bother. Instead, he teleported into his own room again, and stared at the heavy heap of paperwork Fidel had finished.
This was only Halycon's part of paperwork. He shuddered at the thought of doing all that work, and flexed his hands. The next week or so would be hell--moreso than it had been in a long time.

Continue what he was doing? He frowned at the man, rage bubbling. For the first time in a long time, an out of place thought popped up. If he was going to continue kissing, or doing worse, with Fidel, then he would leave. His soul shouted angry arguments with him, but it didn't matter anymore. What was he supposed to do, lie down and let Vash walk all over him? It happened once already, and he had no intention of letting it happen twice. He'd coincided with that stupid subordinate for long enough. Vash was lucky he stuck around long enough.

Still angry, but determined now to follow through with what he had decided, Halycon teleported into Vash's room, landing silently on his couch.

"You're going to have to chose. It's me or Fidel," he said flatly before teleporting back out of the room.

It was at this point that Vash realized that God hated him.
He clenched his teeth and drummed his fingers on the desk, eyes fixed on the flutter of moths that had teleported Halycon in and out of his room. His soul was, if even physically possible, crying. He narrowed his eyes, attempting to silence it. The Demon was beside itself, totally overjoyed at his counterpart's words. What they meant, of course, was that he had a decision to make.
Successfully wipe out his father, or make peace with his own counterpart again? Vash slammed his fist on the wall, and the massive pile of paperwork began tilting off the side of the desk. He caught it with the other hand, his fist still firmly beating the unoffensive wall like his father had beaten him.
His soul became silent.
The noble stared up at the ceiling, sinking to the ground beside the couch and door. His emerald eyes glinted in the light of hopelessness.
"What the hell do you want from me?" he whispered. Of course, there was no answer. There was never an answer. He felt a chill run up his spine, and he shivered.
Halycon had taken to a totally ridiculous notion that he was replacing him with Fidel. It was sheer stupidity, he thought, considering even the thought of replacing the boy made him twitch. But if he could use Fidel against his father, and finally kill the b*****d off, then...
Vash closed his eyes.

Fidel hummed down the corridor of the Science Department, down the flight of stairs, into the elevator, and into her room. Emyrus was in there, probably doing something destructive, but at the moment she couldn't care less. She straightened the pink skirt with the heart stitched on it that she was wearing, and sighed, flopping onto her bed beside her counterpart. Usually, she would have raised an eyebrow and demanded to know if he had set fire to anything, looked through her drawers, and put the toilet seat down after he used it.
Instead, she beamed, glowing like a Christmas tree. Her soul was muttering something incoherent, but she pointedly ignored it. It had no business criticizing her actions, unless it had to do with Emyrus, considering he was her counterpart, after all.

A five letter word that means happy.

He thought through all the words he knew that meant happy, and thought of bliss pretty easily, but it was boring to put down what they actually wanted. The whole crossword was full of stupid answers that amused him for a little while, and then Fidel was in the room.

Hey, that had five letters. She seemed happier than an squirrel in a peanut can, too. Shrugging absently, he wrote her name in the slot and threw the crossword aside as she flopped down next to him.

"What put you in such a good mood?" he asked simply. Since the whole soul connection thing, they had managed to bury any feelings of hatred (though he still managed to annoy her from time to time) and were more or less friends. It wouldn't work if they hated each other, after all.

Fidel laughed, and her bells rang in a jumpy, childish melody. She sprang from the bed and twirled, then let her hands fall to her sides again. She beamed at Emyrus, sapphire eyes lighting up.
"He knew this whole time. Can you believe that?" she shook her head, still beaming. "He loves me, Emyrus~!" The subordinate twirled again, this time landing on her butt. She blinked, then sighed contently. It had finally happen, and her soul had been proven wrong. Fidel glanced up at the alarm clock sitting on her side table. It was midnight, two hours since Lord Vash had asked for her help. She could still feel the girly bliss bobbing through her, and she couldn't remember ever feeling this happy.
It had been a long time.

At first he was smiling. Anything that put Fidel in that good a mood couldn't be bad, right? But as soon as she said the word "he" his stomach filled with dread. And he was right. Things were bad. He knew that Vash had blinded Fidel, but as long as he wasn't using her, Emyrus didn't see why he needed to cut in. Sure, he wasn't happy about how close she was to the slinky man, but why ruin her dreams? His soul was never happy with his fake apathy that came with the situation, but butting in would only make things awkward. And he was fine with being friends, really, he was.

He watched, smile dropped, as she twirled again and fell on her butt. Brushing his hair back with one hand, he sighed. Really, honestly for once, he didn't want to ruin her dreams, but this time Vash was abusing them, he was using her, and Emyrus had a big problem with that.

"Fidel, you're a real dumbass, you know that?" he said, eyes dull with something similar to regret. He didn't want to shatter this for her, really didn't, but he didn't have a choice. He swallowed, hoping she wouldn't hate him. "You know he was lying, right?"

It only made sense, when looking at the situation from a third person perspective. Vash almost killed him, would have killed him, because he "stole" Halycon from him so long ago. He aided in the blonde's death, only following orders really, and Emyrus found it a miracle Vash hadn't tortured him and killed him yet. Those two were closer than anything. They didn't love each other, at least not romantically, as anyone could see. There was something profound between the two, though. Something deep and invisible, yet tangible at the same time. You could see it whenever Halycon smiled at the creepy tall guy. You could hear it in the way they talked.

All Halycon had to do was ask and he got anything he wanted from Vash. The two might as well have been brothers and best friends for as close as they were. And Halycon hated Fidel, oh yes, that Emyrus could see with ease. Maybe Fidel forgot all of that, but he sure didn't. Halycon didn't. There was no way Vash had any room in his heart for someone else. No way at all. And with the one who already stole all of his affection hating Fidel, how could he love her?

"He can't possibly love you, don't you get that?"

The feeling of having an actual body was definitely awkward. Definitely. He had always felt sensations, but he never felt so... limited, or contained, like he did in this body. He had taught himself to walk for the most part, and still tripped a lot. He didn't fall much anymore, but it still happened, unfortunately. What was probably more odd was that he found out he had... talents. It wasn't much, but he could make people forget things. Once he tripped and fell, and one worker of this place started laughing. He stood up and wanted him to forget it ever happened, to shut up, and he did.

Apparently Anakera was his wishgranter too, but he really didn't want to have someone grant his wishes. There was something unnatural, and quite honestly disgraceful, about not fulfilling your own wish. When he told her that, she only laughed and said he was a good kid.

He could teleport, too, and that was even more awkward than having a body. When he did, vines wrapped all around him, and then he was wherever he wanted to be. It was fast too, like blinking.

Klemenis always kept a close eye over his brother, careful not to get in much trouble with Vash (because the man hated him among other things), but still knew most of what was happening with the blonde. When he through somewhat of a fit, he knew. When he demanded Vash chose between he and Fidel, he knew. He sighed, teleporting into the corner of his angry brothers room. He never had much against Vash; he had plenty against the man's demon, and certainly didn't like the man, but he must have had a reason to betray Halycon like that, unless he lost the last shard of sanity that was left. He didn't really deserve Halycon's rage, did he?

"Halycon," He said lightly. Ever since getting a body, he talked quietly. It hurt to talk too loud, probably because he never used actual vocal chords before, but he didn't whisper like his brother. Just talked quietly.

"What do you want, Klemenis?" Halycon snapped, glaring at him. He'd never seen the boy like this. Swallowing, he stepped out into the room.

"Do you really want to do this? He might have a reason; perhaps you should listen?"

He was always a shy person. When walking, he looked at the ground. When talking, he didn't like looking anyone in the eye. When he was yelled at, he cringed. All courtesy of Vash's damn demon. All courtesy of being stuck in utter hell, right under the tyrannical fist of the ******** demon, being abused and pushed around and forced into things he didn't want. Courtesy of being lowered to subhuman. Courtesy of being a goddamn slave to a demented part of the man he was trying to help.

Did he really want to do this?

Her soul murmured its agreement. It said that she shouldn't argue with her counterpart, and that hating him would not be a good idea. She stopped listening to what else it had to say.
"What's wrong with you?" she demanded, narrowing her eyes at the man. "Is it so hard for you to imagine somebody loving me?" Of course, she knew of Lord Vash's hatred for Emyrus, but she was sincerely shocked that the liar would go as far as this. Didn't he understand that she had been waiting for this for years? That this was the reason she had agreed to work under a bloodthirsty noble and pretended to be a boy? That was all over now, since she had promised Lord Vash that she would give him as much information of what was happening in the Purgier mansion as possible, and she was also allowed to take on her normal appearance, instead of looking like an adolescent boy.
Thank. God.
Her once blissful expression made way for a dark glare, painted not only in her eyes, but her entire demeanor. Did he enjoy trying to ruin this for her? She had thought of Emyrus as a friend after a while, and his company was appreciated (when he wasn't refusing to put the toilet seat down).
Inwardly, she felt like he had twisted a blunt knife into her side.

Did he still hate her?

Emyrus looked down at her, and thought he was going to choke. He really didn't hate her (you love her, you coward, why can't you say it? you can't even think it, you damn--) at all anymore, and the sight of her glare, of the sudden drop in her face made his stomach drop to his toes. For the first time around her, he forgot all about loneliness and pain, and only felt guilty. And he couldn't hide it, either. It just swallowed him, all right. He was going right down to it's stomach, and he got a feeling that no matter how hard he fought it, he wouldn't be able to fix

(give her a while, she'll get it, she'll forgive you. she's not an idiot, emyrus. she'll put it together sooner or later. help her get it.)

this stupid mistake. It'd me so much easier to just forget the whole thing, laugh and say just kidding, glad things worked out. But sooner or later, Vash would tell her himself, and that would break her. It would hurt so much more for her to have Vash say it. He could deal with her hating him, he guessed, as long as he tried. Maybe it'd save her in the long run.

"Fidel, that's not what I meant," he said, trying to keep his voice from shaking. He thought it was working, but wasn't too sure anymore. "It's just that-- oh, dammit, Fidel -- it can't work that way. He's just using you. You'll get stuck in the middle of the war with him and his dumb dad."

"He's not a superhero, Fidel."
PostPosted: Sun Dec 23, 2007 5:08 pm

Naturally, the superheroes in the comic books Narien read saved the world over and over again (Fidel thought that was pretty boring, but didn't crush her friend's excitement) and wore bright capes and a dimpled smile. She rolled her eyes. Lord Vash ate people's souls. Of course he wasn't those cliche heroes from the comics. Just the thought alone was frightening.
"I agreed to help him with that," she shouted, ignoring the tears that were blurring her vision. Why was Emyrus suddenly being like this to her? The subordinate swallowed the lump in her throat. She hated fighting with friends.
"And I thought I knew it when you were faking," she said accusingly, looking up at the liar. He had been pretending this whole time. Emyrus had never stopped hating her, had he? She couldn't remember how seriously he took it when she punched him in the nose the first time she had confessed her secret. Now and again, she would bop him in the arm when he did something stupid. Did he take that seriously? She bit her lip.
Fidel's soul was still shouting its protests, but she wouldn't hear anymore. Quickly, the petite girl stood from the floor and teleported out, leaving a black feather to the ground in her place.
The stark white of the main lab in the Science Department greeted her. Nobody had seen her yet, so she quickly wiped off her tears.

"Fidel, I'm not--" he started, but then she was gone. Damn, he really messed up. Shoulda kept his big old trap shut, shoulda just shut up. He grabbed at his hair and pulled on it, now thoroughly regretting saying anything, and utterly pissed off that it didn't go ********>" he shouted, throwing a pillow on the ground.

He stared at it, anger going down by the second. He sighed, muttering another couple curses before digging in his pocket for a pack of Marlboro reds, glad he kept them in his pocket at all times, in case something stressful or all around shitty (like this) happened. There was only two left, he noticed, and made a mental note to pick more up tonight. He stuck one in his mouth and picked the pillow up, setting it back in its usual spot.

Still angry and beyond guilty, he walked across the room and took Fidel's lighter from by a candle and lit it, wishing he brought a regular lighter instead of her stupid candle one. He took a long drag on it before walking out, forgetting that her room would probably smell like smoke.

He glanced at her alarm clock before heading out. Midnight. He was going to be late to the rumble with the Dobes, he realized, and ran back into her room and snatched a leather belt that looked like it hadn't been used in years. Running down the hall, smoke in his mouth and already relaxing him, he headed to an empty hallway and teleported.

s**t. And he was supposed to ask her about a job for Daria tonight.
