Does a lot of reading turn you off from roleplaying? |
Yes, I don't feel like reading a whole story before I can get the idea of what the Rp is about. |

((Pfft. Syrup. NOWAY. He's molasus, man. D< Only... it didn't sound very good... and I don't know how to spell molasus, anyway. xD;;;; I guess he's more like... I dunno, cranberry jelly (is there such a thing)?))
Orpheus had entered the room and sat down slowly. He had thought it was merely lunch, but... from the way Abby was talking, it was obvious it would be a lot more. He slouched forward in his seat, one arm extending so tht the elbow rested on the tabletop and his palm supported his chin.
He knew he had been here the longest. But it wasn't by his choice. Father just thought something was wrong with him.... But that was bull. He'd pobrably just... gone crazy himself, maybe. Stupid old man....
His brows knitted together as Abby continued. Tell... his story? He had nothing to tell. He was... he was normal. A little depressed, yes, but normal compared to the rest.
He didn't bother to sit up striaght as attention was shifted to him. He kept his hazel eyes downcast a muttured slowly, his smooth voice nearly innaudible, "My name is Oriel ((yes, he goes by his middle name)). I'm fifteen years old.... I come from a regular family.... And I'm here because my dad went crazy and says something's wrong with me...." His voice was slow. Somehow, it seemed to... sedate the atmosphere even better than ten bottles of Nyquil.
**
Aiden, as per usual, was nearly bouncing off the walls. He smiled around the room before taking his seat and listening intently to Abby. He leaned forward but, unlike Orpheus, did not rest his head on his head. Instead, he leaned quite across the table, elbows placed as far away from himself as possible while still, somehow, appearing comfortable - as well as providing a quite attractive torso.

((No prob, I did too till I went to check. Waahhh! *huggles Orpheus* And I have avi art for Mie-ki!! heart *must scan must scan must scan* What color to do the dress... I'll be using waky colors for this one just cause... well, cause tis Mie. ^^))
Allumen sat straight backed, as he'd been taught, and listened intently. Other than being a depressive goth, Oriel diidn't strike him significantly in any way... Except he thought the name sounded a bit like "Oreo", which made him smile some. He wasn't sure if the kid was finished talking, or if Abbey wished to respond so he waited silently for direction. His story? Well... That would be interesting... He hadn't ever really talked about it before. No one ever asked. The police just assumed by evidence and school counselors were always probing, until that incident... and his father pulled him out of school... he'd never felt quite comfortable. He still didn't really, with all the other boys around, but he knew Abbey, and it made him feel somewhat safer. Allumen shifted and put a hand up to the silver cross dangling from his neck. It was like a safety net...

After a moment of silence, Abby sighed quietly and then turned her gaze upon Orpheus, her brown eyes seeming to calculate his quick summary. She knew that none of the boys would be happy to share their story.... but she had a small hope that they would cooperate.
"What does he say about you, Orpheus? Why does he think something is wrong with you?" She pushed gently.
She paused a moment before adding: "What kind of a person does he want you to be?"
She knew that she was going to evoke some sensative emotions but that was the point. The boys needed to understand one another. This was the first place to start.... to recognized that no one person is 'better' than another.... and that they were all there to help themselves be who they want to be, not to conform to some set standard.
Tristan looked to Orpheus with mild curiousity, his blue eyes dazing out to focus on the images of his own 'father' in his head... and out of reflex, they narrowed into a glare. He had to close his eyes and refocus on what was going on in order to keep himself from remembering the past events. Which was easier said than done.

No reaction. Not in his expression, anyway. He paused a moment, surverying Abby for a while before continuing. "Let's see if I can recall his exact words..." he said blandly. "Hmm... 'Orpheus, you sick b*****d, stop pretending and wake up - you're a freak and you know it.'"
He sat back and a monochrome smile slipped onto his lips. "According to him, I'm 'not right up stairs.' Something about memory supression or something." He shrugged as if to show that the man was clearly out of his mind.
"And he wants... I don't know what that man wants and I don't care, either." Obviously, Orpheus had settled on being difficult. Well... not exactly. After all, it hadn't been a conscious decision - he was merely 'difficult' by nature.

((Hello everyone, I'm new. It's a pleasure to meet you.))
“Oh... where is everyone?” The dining hall was all but empty except for the cook, who was just finishing cleaning up, and didn’t at all seem surprised to see the tall, gawky boy standing in the doorway.
“Ah, there you are, Liam. I see you managed to miss out on eating with everyone again.” Placing a hand on her hip, she shot him a glance that seemed to say that she knew exactly what it was that he was up to, but with a sigh she waved him on back towards the galley. “I’ve got your sandwich all wrapped up and ready for you, crusts trimmed off just the way you like it.”
With a gentle blush, Liam smiled shyly and tilted his gaze away and over to the cellophane wrapped square that waited for him on the counter. “Thank you Ma’am,” He responded quietly, picking it up as if it would explode with anything more than a ginger touch, “I’m sorry I missed...” Unable to remember what was on the daily menu, he looked into the closest garbage bin, only to be puzzled by the contents within. “...Whatever it was that you made. I’m sure it was... delicious?”
“Oh you,” Shooing the boy off with a dirty washcloth, the woman simply shook her head. Unlike some of the other more difficult youngsters, Liam wasn’t being sarcastic but attempting to be polite. It was enough for her to forgive what should have been considered a scathing comment. “You eat that on the way, Mr. Ashton. Abby has the other boys in a meeting, and you’ve already missed so many sessions it’s a wonder that woman hasn’t put a leash on you.”
The color drained from his face. A meeting? It had already started without him, that much was certain, and as much as he dreaded contact with the other, often frightening boys that resided at the center with him, he knew he had to go. “Thank you, Ma’am, I’m on my way now...” His grip tightened slightly against the plastic wrapped sandwich and his stomach churned. There was no way he could eat now, not when he was about to suffer the public humiliation of being late.
Despite this fact, his stride continued to be slow and hesitant, his feet at war with his heart that so wanted to just hide until the entire ordeal was over. What was one more missed session? It honestly couldn’t hurt. It was minutes after he came to the door that he could actually go inside it, twisting the knob as slowly and quietly as possible so he might shuffle in unnoticed - which, if he had taken the time to think about it, was an impossibility.
He was a tall boy and just a little bit older than most of the other residents, and that did not aid him in his attempt to slip in casually. His long hair was unkempt and hid his face, and his clothing was wrinkled, along with his shirt which was buttoned wrong. Stumbling as he stepped on his own shoelaces, he shuffled towards the closest seat, only to find it was next to Orpheus (who scared him to no end). Needless to say, this one would not do, so he took another one as quickly as possible - only to find himself seated next to the equally mesmerizing and intimidating boy with Bubble Gum hair. Yes, indeed, Liam felt he should have listened to his instincts and just sat this meeting out.

Allumen looked curiously at the other boy. He'd seen him before, but not often. Allumen had wondered many times if he'd just imagined it, but here was proof. He smiled softly, to welcome him to the group, then tried to turn his attention back to the matter at hand.

Abby was not surprised by Orpheus' responce and did not pry any further. She only nodded to show that she understood what Orpheus meant and that she would leave it at that. Although, she did hope that the other boys would be a bit more willing to share their experiances and perhaps influence more conversation out of the darker character. Her eyes fell to the floor for a moment in thought before she looked up at Allumen and decided to change her plan.
"Instead of going in order of who has been here the longest... Who would willing share their story?" She asked as her eyes jumped from one boy's face to the next before they finally swooped to Liam. A small smile graced her lips and she nodded to him in welcome. "I'm so glad you made it, Liam. I was getting worried that you weren't going to come." She said quietly to him in a motherly tone.
Tristan's eyes focused on the new boy. At first glance Tristan could tell that he wasn't a very confident person, his arrival however, only kept Tristan's attention for a moment because his mind wandered back to what Orpheus had said... and something inside him.... was itching to come out.
"....My real father was a do**** bag for leaving my family in the first place...." He commented casually. " ... but it was mom's mistake for marrying such an idiot the second time around...." He grumbled. "You know, you'd think people would learn after the second time around. Then again, my mom wasn't the smartest person you'd ever meet.... I guess its why she fell for my stepfather's lies..." He shrugged, realizing he was getting off track. He gave Orpheus a curious look, his eyes gleaming with some unreadable emotion. "....So.... what did you do to your dad?

Allumen’s smile, which offered such a warm reception, caught the newcomer off guard, and he rose a single hand to say hello. “Um... yeah, sorry I’m late...” He murmured, keeping his tone low as he addressed the matriarch of the gathering. He was about to make up an excuse, but thought better of it. He wasn’t out raping foresters or killing squirrels - it really shouldn’t be an issue as to where he was.
The talk of fathers made Liam feel uneasy. He barely knew his own father, for all the time he had spent away from home - working late hours at the studio, on location or simply networking at another important party. It was difficult for him to verbalize his emotions for him. He was just a man who paid the bills, who bought him cars for his birthday, who told him he was an embarrassment and sent him away to a camp of lunatics.
Why should it surprise him that everyone was crazy here? Really, it shouldn’t, as he knew he was no exception to the rule. However, it wasn’t exactly comforting either. Idly, his fingertips found its way into the plastic wrap coating of his sandwich, and the soft fragrance of peanut butter wafted from within it as he took a sizeable bite. A sandwich like this was always comforting, and as Tristan finished giving insight into his life and asked his question, Liam couldn’t help but let out a tiny “Mmm,” before sinking deeper into his seat. He’d speak up a little bit later - after everyone else was starting to get ready to leave and were no longer paying too close attention to what was being said.
