"When?" Billy's head swung blearily around to glance up at Alec once again, his spiny fin-ridge flairing subconciously. "B'fer... 'twas mostly down-hill-like."

Sid glanced back. "Whadja do? Start rolling and hope you didn't hit a rock?"

He had to fight to keep from laughing at the mental picture that conjured. He covered it by clearing his throat, and then sucking back spit. The noises weren't entirely pleasant, but the important thing was that he was used to it.

"Anyway..." Silence followed as he blanked on conversation topics that didn't involve starvation or body algae and the removal thereof.

The teen bit down hard on his bottom lip to stifle a laugh as ironically, Sid's joke had been exactly what Alec had been thinking at the same moment. He settled for a strained grin that hopefully would go unnoticed unless Billy turned back to look.

"Aw we theh yeeeet?" The sharkboy groaned after a healthy length of silence, grunting as he shoved the wheelchair's squeaky frame past a lump of obstructive dirt.

Billy had fallen silent after his cigarette had finished, his chin tucked against his collar bone, he used a tentacle tip to idly trace along the lines of ribs that stood out against his thin, slimy skin. "Wonder... how long'll... still ha' bones t'all," he slurred uselessly.

"Not much further," Sid said. The village was thankfully in sight. Billy's musing threw him a little. He could have something reassuring, problem even should have, but everything he thought about sounded empty. Worse, it got him to thinking about his own future problems. Just three minutes without that would be nice.

He glanced back once more. "At least you've got your he... I mean your... your cigarettes." He faced forward again before adding, "Least you can smoke 'em."

Alec kept silent for the moment, slowly glancing between Billy and the back of Sid as he lead them through the jungle. Maybe he wasn't that bad off afterall? Although the irish kid's head had taken most of the damage the last round of his changes, he definetly did not mirror the broken pile of tentacles and slime that was sitting in the chair. And Sid's face... that must've hurt like a b***h. It sure seemed like he was lucky so far when compared to the other two. These just compounded reasons he used to convince himself to put the past behind and continue to look positively into the future. He had to.

It was too quite again. The squeaking of the rusty wheels grinding the flimsy axel was starting to irritate him, coupled with the depressed demeanor he could feel was taking over their small party. He didn't want to think about the bad things, he wanted to pretend they weren't there for now and he refused to be give in to the sadness. So the silence was abruptly shattered into bits by a sudden chorus. "Now 'aaaam aiming fo' 'eaveeeen, bu' a'll prolly wind up down n' 'eeeeell... where 'pon th's altaaaaa-"

"'Ang me... guilt ridden head..." Billy mumbled, recognizing the song even in his dimb, dumb, delerious state. He hummed beyond those words, though, still "fingering" his ribs curiously.

"Nice song..." The words, assorted accents and slurring aside, didn't ring a bell with Sid. No real surprise there, given all he knew about music barely stretched beyond the 70's. But besides that... "I never could carry a tune. It's really bad when you can't even get into a band where the only requirement is screaming into a mic... Metal's dead now, isn't it?"

Alec hummed a bar of the song whenever Billy's voice faded away simply for the sake of passing time and filling the gap of silence. "Ye... a' thin' tha' stuff's through." The teen smirked, guessing Sid would be into music like that as it seemed to suit him. Billy on the other hand, pleasantly surprised him when he'd recognized the song.

"Bloodeh finalleh GEEZ!" The youngster barked and slumped against the wheelchair handlebars as he felt the ground below become more even and worn, indicating they'd just about arrived at their destination.

Billy hugged his backpack again, having pulled open the broken zipper to peer inside at what was there besides his cigarettes. He rooted about, the sad remains of what belongings he had taken with him jostling about for the world to see befor he located the black wallet that had been stowed safely away under the well-worn squeezebox he'd never play again. It wasn't as though he had ever been any good, but he had enjoyed it. Enough to have not thrown the instrument away by now.

Sid was oblivious to what both Billy and Alec were up to as he focused ahead. The pain was drifting away, taking the rest of him with it, though as long as he had an audience he would have carried on no matter how bad it was. Thanks to the pills, it would eventually go away. It might come screaming back within a few hours, but the wonderful think about pain killers is they made it hard to worry about things like that either. It was glorious. A man just had to be patient. Ideally, a man also had to act like he wasn't soaring on a combination of medication and alcohol, but that was another thing to worry about after it wore off.

"Not much longer," Sid said, nodding vaguely to Alec. "Further, I mean. Almost there. Yeah."

Alec sighed, unenthused by Sid's response. 'Almost' never instilled confidence in anything. As he continued to push further onward using his elbows to guide the wheelchair, he noticed Billy was rooting through his bag for something. Praying he hadn't left something else behind that the teen would have to later retrieve, he leaned enough to peek over the tentacled-man's shoulder. "Wutcheh lookin' fo? A'll ge' i' fo' ye."

At the very bottom of the bag he finally found it, lifting it up in a tentacle weakly to offer it to the shark-boy. It was a passport in the name of Brian Levonawitz and a picture of a sunken-eyed, black-goateed, greasy black haired young man in his late twenties. The octopus's face twitched as he pointed, "Th'used t'be me..."

There was still a little while left before Sid reached that magical point where it got hard to focus on his immediate surroundings. It wouldn't have been like that if he hadn't dropped the whiskey. In any case when he heard Billy his curiosity got the better of him. He turned and walked back to the chair to have look.

"Levonawitz?" he said.

Alec stopped pushing momentarily to take a look at the offered item, peering at the picture with his odd, large-eyed stare. "Mm." He made the small sound and nodded, offering the passport back to Billy. "So diff'nt." It was a shame, it really was. Billy hadn't been the smartest looknig bloke he'd ever seen but to have a face be taken away like that was tragic. Of course this only reminded him of his predicament, somewhat similar to his. "Looki' me face mahn, a' 'ad th'coolest 'hawk n' fookin' Belfast." The teen smirked to himself, sadly taking his place behind the wheelchair again.

It wasn't until Sid mentioned the name that Alec raised an eyebrow. He had most likely missed the detail of the fake information on account of his tendency to skim over anything written. Reading wasn't one of his strengths, so he avoided it.
