Once upon a time...: Metaplot - Dream

Armel's Dream
Once there was a little boy named Armel.
He was stubborn as a bull and filled with pride.
It was assured that in life that he'd do quite well.

"I haven't a thing t'fear. I will stand up for m'self and m'friends. I will not back down from anyone. I am a survivor and I will survive. I jus' 'ave to..." is what the young boy said to his guardian during a particularly cloudy and ominous day. It was a sort of day that spoke of ill things to come, but it was ignored...

One day a monster came to town.
All of Armel's friends ran to hide.
Armel decided he'd destroy it on his own.

Something was chasing him; it had come during that ominously cloudy day. It had made his friends fear for their lives. He was scared too, but he did not show it. Armel didn't feel that he could show it. To show a monster fear is to give them the upper hand. This he knew from experience.

Days and nights flew by on a wing.
Armel barely noticed as he was busy.
He built a contraption built of many a thing.

It was huge, and it would work. So he hoped. He aimed the contraption toward the mass of black writhing tendrils that was slowly destroying everything around it and pushed the contraption toward it. As the contraption rolled and wobbled the beast snapped out a tendril, took it up and ate it. The beast now knew where he was and it came for him.

Armel had flown into a tizzy.
The monster got closer still.
The stubborn little boy still did not run.

The monster of shadows wrapped it's tendrils around Armel and began to lift the boy up into the air. Armel frantic now was swinging his hammer against the tendril that had captured him determined to fight this creature to make it let him go. "FIGHT FAIR!" he bellowed as loudly as he could. The monster merely laughed and swallowed him whole...

Thus ends our tale of Armel.
He was swallowed whole despite his fighting.
Why was he so determined?
Why did he do it?
It was all because, "No one else was going to."

---

Armel let out a squeak as he jerked into a sitting up position in his bed. His eyes wide in the dark as a snap was heard from the story book hitting the floor. Armel listened quietly for the familiar raspy laughter of an amused Serkan somewhere near by. Yet there was no one, and as far as he knew the hellion couldn't get into his dreams could she?

That dream didn't have the markings of the hellion, however, why did he dream it...?

Armel almost expected for Serkan to appear and tease him about the nightmare, but maybe she had gained a better hobby for once. He eased himself back into his bed and under his covers, but no matter how he tried his eyes would not close and he could not get back to sleep.

Quest Time!
With the events happening and the dreams occuring these past few weeks, Armel's truly on the verge of growing. His quest is two fold: First he is to hone his skills and talents (whatever these may be it is up to you to discover) by collecting materials which will help him do so. Second he needs to gather at least four books of any subject for his personal library.

The second part of course is friendship, he is to make friends with those who are not Tales and those who are. ((translation: Two PD's, one with a non-Tale and another with a Tale he does not know or does know)) These can be held in the guild, over AIMs, in the shop thread, wherever it is held, it must be documented in his tome.

Good luck.

Of Outings and Death Threats
Serkan & Armel the Continuing Saga

Armel was lurking around the house - truth be told he was avoiding Serkan.

Andy was okay, and so was Serkan when she was still attached to her brother. Now the twins were separate and the bloody and eyeless girl had taken to interrupting Armel's sleep patterns (at random).

It was a prank the ram-horned boy wasn't very appreciative of.

Serkan also had away of making things hurt. Like his markings. All the girl had to do was catch him in the right mood and at the right time and things would happen. Things Armel wasn't quite comfortable with and made him cry out for an adult or Andy whichever seemed closest at the time.

He didn't really want to hang around his Author either still being miffed at the man for disappearing on him, and also lecturing him for disappearing on them the other day. Armel didn't see the stink about walking out to Barton Town and all he did was hang out at the fountain. He wanted and needed to be alone, but that wasn't the case after a while.

Sure he was approached by a stranger whom offered him candy which he politely declined. It wasn't like the person dragged him into an unmarked mini-van or anything...

Regardless Armel was miffed at Pales and Pales was apologetic and mildly miffed at Armel.

Though no matter how much Armel wanted avoid anyone, when Pales made the announcement that he was going to go out Armel suddenly appeared in front of his Author with a desperate sounding, "TAKE ME WITH YOU," Blurting out past his lips as he clung unto Pales' pant leg.

Armel's shout was soon followed by Serkan screaming from somewhere in the house, "NO DON'T TAKE HIM WITH YOU!" shortly after the girl appeared into the hallway out, "If you do, Bird, you'll regret it." The eyeless girl rasped.

Pales ruffled Armel's bangs a bit not looking at Serkan for the moment, "It isn't like we are leaving for days and days. We'll be back and you can torture him. Why not go bother...Suzu or something?"

Serkan stood eerily still before responding, "He isn't much fun, and Andy is probably doing something boring..."

Armel didn't look pleased at the promise of being handed over to torture, though he knew Pales wouldn't actually do so, but either way he remained silent.

The man went quiet going over all the beings in the house. He didn't want to intentionally send the morbid girl after someone else but if it mollified her enough to let them leave then it was a price he'd have to live with. Out of all of the people - amazingly enough - Tyr would handle her best, "You haven't freaked out Tyr in a while. Why not go do that and when Armel and I get back I'll have a nice, bloody, gory, morbid movie for you to watch and I'll try to find a video game equal to the movie's horror."

Serkan didn't seem impressed by the offer but responded, "Fine, but if either of them don't live up to expectations then I will gut you, Bird." And with that she turned and went off else where.

Pales had a sinking feeling that wherever Serkan was off to it wasn't anywhere near Tyr just to spite him. Shaking off the dread Pales opened the door and ushered Armel out, "Quick before she comes back, Kiddo."

Armel didn't need much encouragement beyond that and thus scuttled out quickly followed by Pales...

Special Delivery:

Artificial Anonymity
The aging mailman inelegantly threw the package on the front step, causing the contents to rumble quietly.
Sending a sour look over his shoulder, the man quickly left - bloody early morning's deliveries, only meant to annoy him. No, a cup of tea and the newspaper was the way to go.

Besides the scarab-charms, a small, crumpled note is included.
The note says this:
Dearest Pales,
You missed Christmas, and I'll have you know Mom is quite furious. Anyway, since your kid hasn't gotten his gifts because of certain events (HEMHEM) I thought I'd send them by the snail-mail.
You can't email magic items, you know.
Well, anyway, the charms SHOULD be inlaid with a pretty neat protection-spell, but you never quite know with mages these days.
Oh, and they're hard to break so don't worry. We already tested. Numerous times.

Remember to come visit next Christmas, or I think Mom might just go into cardiac arrest from the sheer rage.
Cheers,

Quest RP (Spirit of the Abandoned Building.)
Prologue: A Deadly Game.

It was raining out. The kind of rain that was hard and slanted in the air as if trying to find a better angle to stab people with or at least get them very soggy. Armel was running through the rain and on his heels quickly followed Serkan with a frustrated yet somehow satisfied growl (as annoying as it was, it was much more interesting when victims ran).

In Armel's right hand he clutched the hammer-object he was born out of his book with. He had used it to try and clumsily ward off Serkan with little to no success. Either way he was in trouble and suddenly the hammer was in his grasp and the boy didn't even know where it was other than now - it was in his hand. Honestly he was thankful for it.

The ram-horned boy didn't know where to run to or why he was even bothering, it almost seemed like he was being pulled somewhere (Serkan was merely helping the progress along by corralling him toward where he was heading). The mistake the both of them seemed to make was thinking that there was nothing more to the backyard.

Armel struggled through the overgrown thorny bushes and tall grass that his Author seemed to somehow neglect in the care of the yard, and found himself in the center of it all in front of a building. He glanced behind himself at the torn pieces of wet cloth hanging on the sharp branches and Serkan coming toward him.

Serkan was now taking her time while inhaling deeply in order to more fully enjoy the fear and the scent of blood that was in the air. Every now and then she'd touch a branch of a bush and watch it wither away. After all, Armel was now trapped, and it was quite possible no one would hear his cries of distress now...

The ram-horned boy ignored the sting from the scratches of his struggle and all he seemed to hear was a creak of a door opening and the pounding of blood in his ears ... Wait a door opened? He looked quickly toward the building to see the door was now opened wide (by itself no less), and the only thing he could think to do was to barrel into the building and find a place to hide.

After he entered the building, door slammed shut behind him. Armel didn't remember pulling the door shut it just did so on it's own. The sudden slam caused the boy to startle and whirl around expecting to see Serkan, but yet she was not there.

Serkan entered the clearing just in time to see the door shut complete with a flash of light. She hissed and looked away. When the light somewhat faded she peeked again to witness a floating object in the air. It stank of a holy aura. She shrunk away. In the distance she heard her brother calling for her. Serkan moved away from the building into the thicket putting on a bored expression on her face to go see what the hell it was her brother wanted her for this time. After all she could get Armel later.

He heard Serkan leave, but he didn't really see her reaction to the symbol but he didn't seem to notice any outside strange lights flashing on the outside. Armel let out a huge sigh of relief and flopped to the floor trying to get the pounding in his heart to cease.

Sadly there's no rest for the wicked it seemed, because soon after Armel had gotten his blood to stop racing there was a loud crash next to him causing him to stand up and brandish his hammer at the offending clattering sound only to hit air.

Armel grunted leaning on a near by wall, "Getting' paranoid, damn it."

There was a deep gruff chuckling coming from behind him now. Armel whirled around to face it only to see disconnected floating eyes at first.

"s**t!" Armel breathed out between clenched teeth, "Serkan, stop it!"

The eyes were slowly followed by an unshaven face and scruffy hair of a man. It took a few moments for the rest of the body to materialize, and Armel watched it warily.

"I swear t'Gods if'n yer Serkan I'mma pound ye one!" Armel threatened wiggling his weapon at the faintly blue glowing apparition.

The ghost-man just chuckled again shaking his head, "You have that certain spark to ya, son, but you're paranoid. No one can hurt ya here." The voice was deep and impressive, but yet it had an echoing tone. The ghost studied the drenched form of Armel a moment before adding, "Don't think yer daddy taught ya to cuss did he?"

Armel was now appropriately shamed the boy hung his head responding, "Nay, but ye scared me whoe'er ye are. All ghostin' around like some sort o' ghoul or somethin' dinn'ae know what t'think, sir." Unlike grown ups and other children his age it seemed far worse to insult a ghost of any sort (after all they can phase through walls and eat innards at least that is what the movies said).

The ghost chortled good-naturedly and shrugged, "I forgot my name a while ago, boy, but you may call me Oak."

The ram-horned boy wrinkled his nose at the name, "Why Oak?"

The apparition just shrugged, "T's a good strong wood and it's better than letting you call me ghost-thing or whatever. You seem imaginative and mischievous to boot. Savin' myself the embarrassment," the figure grinned and then moved closer to Armel, "saw ya getting chased. That girl is scary as all get out. I'm already dead and she makes me fear for my unlife."

Armel rolled his eyes a bit and shrugged at the last comment, "Try 'avin' 'er wake ye up. T's not a good sight t'wake up to."

Oak chuckled heartily nodding, "Indeed, now, I been trying to get you in here for a while now. It seems like it took that girl chasing you to lead you in here, finally."

The boy raised an eyebrow, "If'n ye used her like a pawn she'll definitely try all she can t'gut ye, ghost or not," Armel observed quietly and then shrugged, "not my problem, I guess."

The ghost chuckled and shrugged, "I have no plans to tell her and if you do she'll think you agreed to it and planned it."

Armel shivered and scrunched his nose, "What y'want then?"

Oak tapped his chin as if wording the response mentally before speaking, "Well, been watching ya for a while now, son, I mean like when ya go into the backyard and stuff. I can't leave this building, kinda bound to it."

Armel nodded waving at Oak to continue, "I don' 'ave all day and Da'll be looking for me soon."

The ghost chuckled and nodded, "Well the point is I can't teach you how to smith easily right now, but I can teach you how to fight. You seem to have a talent for it amongst other things."

The boy raised an eyebrow, "Fight with what? Don't think Da'll get me a blade or anything," the boy replied with a small shiver. He was still wearing his rain drenched (more like damp now) clothes. The rain outside had stopped long ago; actually, the rain stopped around the time Andy came to get Serkan, but Armel cared little about what the weather was doing at this time.

Oak began to reply when a man's voice was heard outside calling for someone.

"Armel? Armel! Come on, where are you hiding? I want to go on a walk with you before Serkan gets back and faces off with us again." The voice apparently belonged to Pales.

The ram-horned boy looked vaguely annoyed as he turned again to the door and glancing back at Oak with a small shrug, "I gotta go before 'e sends search hounds af'er me."

The ghost just floated there as if amused, "Leave that little hammer of yours here, it's safer to keep it here than in the house now that that wretched girl knows where it is and that it exists."

Armel hesitated a moment and moved to a large near by block and placed the hammer there, "See ye when I get back." The boy muttered gruffly and then went out the door which opened itself before him on its own accord. As soon as he was out the door he moved more carefully through the thorny bushes and plants until he came out the other side and almost bumping in to Pales' legs.

Pales felt the brush and glanced down blinking in shock, "There you are, and you're damp. What possessed you to hide out here while it was rai--," the man stopped mid-sentence as he got a venomous glare from Armel, "Oh, right, her."

"I'm gonna go get changed, Da." The boy muttered as he pushed passed his Author and toward the house, "I'll meet ye at the front."

The man looked after his boy with a confused stare and biting his lip, something seemed different somehow about the Tale, but his Author couldn't put a finger on it.
