I'm actually a bit dissapointed with it, granted I've only played a little bit and only played until the carpenter has come in thus far. My big problem is the hunger thing, there is no restaraunt/bar open yet and eating some of the little produce that has grown hasn't resulted in helping it out much and when it's low or nonexistant you wake up at noon! Since you can't really fill it until a later point in the game it really limits what you can do during the day as far as watering/chopping/hammering/digging stare .
The best "cure" I've found for this is working until your character passes out and then you'll wake up the next day at 6am but still you're low on food. Don't forget to grab the seaweed daily from the big greenish rock on the beach.

I had that problem, too. What you need to do is up grad your house and then upgrade all the roads you can so you can get sub-characters. You need 10 of them to open the cafe, which has the most choices of food. This also opens the Dinner. Another thing to do is fish. To get the fishing rod, talk to Taro daily.

A nice thing in this one though is that when you buy an animal barn you get a free calf (happens the day the thing is built, the old guy brings it) since it costs only nominally more than the chicken coop I went for it first and was very happy with the freebie. (When you buy a coop you get a free baby chicken with it).

My plan of action was (1) buy bridge to festivals (2) buy animal barn (3) buy upgrade require for fridge and fridge so things wouldn't go bad (4) buy chicken coop (I should have just saved up the money to buy the second bridge and get the mine).
I hate the new sun/water system they have going. As soon as I figure out the mine and keep fishing (yay for treasure chests and save/load for many large fish catches in a single game day) I'm not dealing with crops until I buy a greenhouse.

Crops actually aren't that bad. I fish most of the time, though. I have opened up all the areas except for the rice paddies, which cannot be opened until winter. I have upgraded my house and am saving up for a chicken coop and barn. I just got my horse, which makes me very happy! Now I can get around faster.

*dances with her chicken plush* I got it, I got it!~
It's fun too. 3nodding a bit tricky in the way of controls, but fun ^^ Though I dislike the hunger thing, I kinda think it would've been better off if they'd left it as Stamina/fatigue points. I thought BOTH blue bars had to run out before I would pass out, not just the stamina one. D: (OR the hunger one, I've had both happen to me already.)

Yaaaay I'm so happy for you! ^__^
Yeah... I think if they were trying to make it more realistic by adding hunger but it's not very realistic if you only eat once in like three days... XDDD
