"No, Ah can cook one!" Estrelas cried and determinedly shoved another marshmallow on the stick.
"Ah can, Ah can!" she almost shrieked and stabbed the stick through the white confection and in the heat of the moment, swung it through the flames. Why couldn't she do it?
This time she kept it in the extermities and carefully watched as it browned a gold color.
Angel hopped over to Samantha and sniffed her shoes.

Popping the marshmellow into her mouth instead, Samantha blinked in surprise when the bunny hopped over to her, it's pink nose wiggling questioningly. "Hey there, little rabbit," she said with a smile, holding her out her hand palm-up for the creature to sniff at. "She's adorable." Sam looked over to Estrelas, who had managed to keep her treat from flaming this time. "Is she yours?"

Right as Samantha asked that question, the marshmallow burst into flame dramatically.
Estrelas muttered something in Portugese that would have earned her the most unpleasant chores back at home as punishment, but smiled. As Victor Hugo once wrote, "Even the fiercest of beasts are soothed by carresses to their children."
She smiled. "Oh yaah, zat is Angel," she replied. "She laikes ter be pet, scratched on the nose," she offered.
Angel wiggled her pink nose and twitched her whiskers, sniffing Samantha's palm. Cautiously, she licked the hand, her head bobbing up and down.

Moira smiled slightly and nodded. "I'm sure." She muttered softly, watching the flames. Her eyes shone in response to the fire, and she was silent for a couple minutes after Aislynn had asked how many stayed behind.
She counted on her fingers, and frowned. "I haven't seen Archer, or Shane." She replied calmly, thinking. "I'm sure there are more of the recruits that I haven't been introduced to yet, but those two are the ones I know I haven't seen." Moira smiled slightly, looking over.

Wraith sighed when Estrelas' marshmallow combusted and remarked, "No one's saying you can't do it. I just thought you might want to eat something that isn't burnt beyond recognition."
Shrugging, Wraith offered his marshmallow to Sam instead. He rocked back on the heels of his hands and sighed. It was good to get out of the snow once in a while.
Shee walked up to the LOTUS jet as she and Eponine approached it. Reaching into it and half disappearing in the process, Shee grabbed a green skirt and matching blouse.
Grinning slightly, she handed the clothes to Eponine.
"I'm sorry-- they seem to be green. I think that's all we have here though. We should be getting back to the fire. We don't want to miss anything."

Eponine changed with much wriggling under her monster suit, shedding the atrocious sack of green fur when she was done. Smoothing down her new clothes, she offered Shee an appreciative smile, which dimmed at Shee's last words.
"Do we have to get back so soon? Can we stay here and...rest for a little? I'm sure we won't be missing anything too important." It was bad enough going to a place infested with humans and their weird customs, but returning to it after supreme embarrassment? They probably all suspected she was not a normal human now. She couldn't go back just yet! Maybe they'd forget the whole thing if they waited for them to cool down a little.
Of course, she probably wouldn't have suggested it if she knew what was going on with Estrelas and the marshmellows at the moment.

Smiling shyly over at Wraith, Samantha took the marshmellow from the leader of LOTUS, and popped it into her mouth, being reminded yet again how socially awkward she was. "She's cute," she said to Estrelas again, reaching out to pet Angel, who had licked her hand. "Where did you get her? I think I'd like to have one..."

Estrelas smiled brightly, one of the only times she had done so sincerely. She simply could not resist chatting about Angel.
"Waalll, you see, in mah hometown, on the farm ((--insert heavy accent an imperfect English, I won't type it for the sake of reading. >_< --)), ya see, we're so small and insignificant that nothing happened there in the future OR the past. But when the whole time crisis happened, we didn't get anything really exciting, no killer robots or andriods or anything, we just got a very LARGE shipment of Mosieur Enjolras' Fine Rabbit Breeds, oh, this is Angel..." Estrelas bent down to pet the very large rabbit, "I lured her in the house with slices of fruit." She positively beamed with joy about the interest Samantha showed in the rabbit.
"She's a Creme d' Argent," she added, glowing with pride at the rabbit, who looked up at her before laying down in the grass, asking to be pet.

"I've always wanted a pet...But my parents didn't think that would be good for me, since I had allergies when I was a child. And when I went off to college, I just didn't have any time. Maybe I'll look into getting a pet... I may not look like it, but I'm very much a dog person. Have you ever seen a German Shepard? They're gorgeous animals." Apparently, Sam wasn't all that bad, once she got over her initial awkwardness.

College? German Shepard? What in God's name was a German Shephard? Was it like, a Shephard from Germany? And what was this COLLEGE thing?
Estrelas smiled awkwardly, pretending to not be totally clueless. She nodded intelligently. "Yaah, yaaahh, very beautiful animals," she agreed cluelessly. "German has such beautiful dogs, do not they?"

Samantha laughed, and patted Estrelas' shoulder in a friednly sort of manner. "I'll show you a picture of one, when we get back home. They're rather large dogs with brown and black markings. They're very pretty. But I like cats as well, so it's hard to pick which one I want." The dark-haired girl smiled shyly, suddenly becoming self-concious of herself again.

Shee thought for a moment. Eponine was right. After all, this was just a vacation.
"Alright. We can stay here for a while. Truthfully, it's nice to get away from the crowd sometimes."

Eponine seemed infinitely relieved, settling down on a patch of springy grass.
After a while, she realized she should probably say something. "Ah, it feels so good to get out of that costume." She offered a friendly smile to Shee, still in her ghost disguise. "You humans have the weirdest customs!"

Estrelas laughed blandly. "Hahaha, ha, ha, haha," she said. It wasn't insincere, not at all, and it wasn't forced either, it was just a chillingly eerie laugh that had no mirth, no expression, no humor. "Ah would think so, Ah am not German or a daawg, so Ah wouldn't know-"
All of a sudden, she heard Eponine's voice through the crowd.
"You humans have the weirdest customs..." She froze.
You... Humans? HUMANS? YOU HUMANS? She was saying they were humans whereas she was not a "You Human" but rather something else- no wonder, that girl was strange, she might be a goblin or a-
Everything clicked of all a sudden. Estrelas' mind was filled with realization of Eponine's real... Nature...
THAT THE FRENCH RECRUIT MUST REALLY LOVE HALLOWEEN!
Yes, why else would she dress up as that green beast and take on its role, pretending, acting that she was the beast herself and not at all human? She was pretty good at what Father Ferdinand called "Devil Possession," aka acting.

"I imagine it would. It seemed... itchy."
Shee gently lowered herself down to sit beside Eponine. The grass was cool-- a welcome change from the stifling fire that had made her head spin.
"It took me a while to understand Halloween myself, when I'd first heard of it. Sometimes people need explanations for things that are hard to understand; I think that's why you think it's so strange. A strange explanation for a strange event."
Wait. Did Eponine just say you humans?
