Dancing

If he had been further away this would have been easier, but something about that owl had grabbed her attention and held it, causing her to forget about the threat with teeth within stone throwing distance.

Lesson learned for next time, but right now she had to get out of this unscathed.

It really did look more like a dance then a fight, Zanna doing most of the dancing away from the wolf's attacks. Her spear provided her as a method of blocking moreso than a weapon due to the feral nature of the ******** fleabag..." The teen grunted as she delivered a swift kick in the head to the wolf, who was currently using her spear hilt as a chew toy.

This knocked the straggly beast to the side, causing it to stumble before diving towards her with a snarl for another attack.

Okay so kicks worked on raving wolves. With that duely noted, Zanna swiftly turned her body, swinging her left leg around to come cracking into the side of the wolf's skull.

The beast's whimper of pain made her grin, which widened when she saw the wolf stumble to the ground with the crushing of snow and a grunt-like noise from the wolf.

Before he could get up, Zanna had her boot pressing down on its shoulders, pinning him down with that while she brought her spear to his neck. Her eyes stayed on his, as if she were reading his thoughts through them.

She saw fear. He had relented to her control.

Under her boot, she felt his breathing become smoother, slower, and his eyes confirmed the fact that he was calming down.

Something told her to let the stray go, and so she pulled off her boot first before slowly moving her spear away, though keeping it aimed at the creature just in case.

"Now go," her words were gruff and stern, and with a knowing look, the wolf got up, shook free the snow from his mangey coat, and then trotted off only to disappear into the forest.

It was only then that she laxed her spear and muscles, brushing back the even more confusing thoughts of what had just happened.

Instead, her gaze moved up to the owl once more, and the bird acknowledged her with a soft, pained hoot.

Zanna had to help her, and with that, the teen set her spear down and moved to scale up to the injured bird.

The tree would be the fun part.

Falling

Ever since she was a child the teen had loved to climb trees, and had even turned it into an art of sorts, perfecting her techniques that varied for each type of tree.

This tree was no different.

Hoisting herself up on the first branch, Zanna quickly climbed her way up to the injured bird, who seemed to understand that the teen wasn't there to hurt her. There were no problems with the ice on the way up, the traction on the soles of her boots serving their purpose well.

Once she had finally settled on the branch directly next to the snow owl, Zanna began to speak softly, as if to keep the animal calm. "You know, I'm sure I could fix you up. Just gotta stop the bleeding, bandage you up a bit. Maybe make you a splint..."

As she rambled, the teen searched her jacket pockets for some sort of fabric she could use to bandage up the owl, who was rather calm considering what had just happened. It's reflective eyes stared at Zanna's every movement, silently watching.

Finally Zanna found a clean hankerchief, and so she carefully and slowly pulled out her knife as she continued to ramble on about the weather and whatever else. All was for the bird's sake.

Cutting the cotton into strips, Zanna laid them out on her leg before she reached up and cut off a few small twigs, and after shaving them down to a good size with her knife, she put the weapon away.

The owl continued to watch.

Returning her attention to the owl, she smiled and began splinting and bandaging up the leg. First a layer of bandages to stop the bleeding, then the splints, and finally thinner fabric strips to tie everything in place.

The owl only hooted softly once, watching the girl's movements with a thankful glaze in her eyes, broken only when the Simu reached her hand out to the bird. "Climb on and I'll take us back down. No scary wolf this time eh?" As if understanding of the girl, the bird gingerly hopped onto her hand, which she moved to her shoulder, the owl taking the hint and hopping there before settling.

Zanna cheerfully took several steps downwards on the icy branches as she hummed a soft tune. Each step was well calculated and precise, as always, but something happened that she wasn't expecting.

The ice had made the limbs weak with the added weight, and in seconds, the solid branch she had just stepped on snapped off and began to hurlte towards the ground.

Just like she was doing.

The owl had taken off the moment she began to freefall, using its wings to give it safety.

Zanna didn't have wings, and she fell hard.

Weakening

Peck. Peck. Peck.

The form stirred with a pained and groggy groan, eyes fluttering open to come face to face with yet another pair of eyes, their gaze unwavering. They were the owl's, belonging to the same creature which had pecked Zanna till she awakened.

Maybe the bird understood that falling asleep in such cold conditions wasn't much of a good idea, or maybe it thought that the girl would make a tastey mean. Who knew, but the owl had awakened the very disoriented teen.

Moving her arms, which were only a little sore, Zanna pressed them to the snow next to her chest, where the owl was currently perched, and attempted to sit up.

A searing pain shooting up her leg through her hip was enough for her to quickly allow herself to crash back into the snow. It was then that she attempted to hastily remember what had happened, the throbbing headache being one of the first clues to the light flashback.

She was falling, hands out in attempts to grab at a branch to slow her down, but the ice was too slick at this speed.

Suddenly, her left leg caught a thicker branch, slamming against it with full force, several cracking noises greeting her ears as a flood of pain wiped over her, ending only when her head struck another branch.

Then it all went black...

...until now.

Peering to her left towards her leg, she grimaced at its unnaturally mangled state, curses spitting out under her breath as she closed her eyes and rested her head back again. Just so she couldn't see it anymore.

She realized it was hopeless. She was in the middle of the woods, with a broken leg and no way to contact anyone. What a great warrior she was now. She was pitiful, and she was going to die a human popcicle, how wonderful.

But there it was again. Pecking against her cheek causing her eyes to reopen. Zanna simply smiled as best as she could to the white creature. "I need help... but I can't walk," she explained to the bird, who merely shuffled its feathers and hooted.

Might as well pass the time talking to the bird that had gotten her into this mess, but somehow, she didn't blame the owl nor her skill. It was the blasted ice!

The feather ruffling caught her eyes, which narrowed in thought, reaching out to stroke the bird only when she realized its potential. "You can fly for help can't you?!"

She was saved!

Her hand quickly dropped from the bird as both of them began to search through the coat for a pen, but all she found was more cloth and her knife. She was about to give up, when her gaze fell on the owl's leg, blood soaking through the bandages somewhat.

That gave her an idea.

Quickly unsheathing her knife, Zanna carefully pricked her right index finger deep enough to draw a steady flow of blood, and after she put the knife away, the teen began to write on the cloth.

Cloth
Hurt. Immobile. Follow the owl to me. -Zanna

Nothing fancy, just enough to get her point across.

After she sucked on her finger a bit and the blood had dried, Zanna took the cloth and tied it around the owl's other foot.

Oh gods she hoped that this worked.

As if to give the bird some sort of directions, Zanna pointed to her eyes and smiled encouragingly, "Same eyes..." And with that, the owl gave a determined hoot and carefully pushed off of Zanna's chest and flew away into the horizon.

All she could do now was wait, and waiting went by faster if one slept as far as Zanna was concerned. There was a nagging tired at the back of her mind anyways. It was easy to just give into it in her state.

The teen hadn't noticed the pool of blood that had formed under her left leg, nor did she feel anything below the waist due to the cold snow around her form.

A nap just sounded better and better, so she yawned and closed her eyes, allowing herself to drift into the welcoming darkness, letting the warmth embrace her as her senses slowly slipped from reality.

She was free.

Hospital

When she finally woke up, Zanna was extremely groggy and dizzy, probably from the amount of painkillers she had been put on for her leg. Her eyes continued to blink stupidly while she got accustomed to the light and the fact that she was seeing again it seemed.

"Good to see you awake again Zanna..." It was a voice she recognized, but couldn't quite put her finger on till she looked over and focused on the woman lounging in the chair next to the hospital bed. The woman continued on, figuring that Zanna would be able to take all of this in despite her drug induced state of being. "The doctors say you broke your left leg in three different places, so they had to stick you in a full leg cast and dope you up."

"Mum...?" Zanna's groggy voice interjected as she continued to attempt to wake up. She moved to sit up, or rather she struggled to push herself up, but was stopped by a strong hand, X's, which pushed her back down.

"Not going anywhere except home later today. Doctors need to clear you for discharge first, and then we'll take you home." The vampire sighed softly and pushed some of the stray hair out of her 'daughter's' face before continuing on, a rare mother/daughter gesture between the two. "There's a catch though, bedrest for AT LEAST a week before you can get crutches..."

"But what?! I can walk!" Zanna didn't want to be dependent of others anymore! Getting help earlier was enough, but that was justified because her leg was CRUSHED and she was unable to walk on it. What good was this big cast if she couldn't walk with it?!

"No you can't." X's voice was stern and unfaltering as Zanna continued her emotional complaints and denials.

"I'm not weak... I'm not..." The teen's eyes held a look of panic in them, something that was rarely seen in her ever, but there it was now, staring straight up into her mother's comforting ones.

Gripping Zanna's hand, X gave it a reassuring squeeze as she chuckled, "******** no you're not weak... You know that." She then leaned in and whispered to her Simu, who was already drifting off to sleep from the drugs kicking back in, "Between you and me... I think Adrian would've cried had he broken his leg like you had... Still be out in the snow methinks..."

That was enough to make the teen smile just before falling into her drug induced sleep, comforted by her mother for now.

Home

Humiliation would be the best word to describe what Zanna was feeling as they left the hospital. Her face seemed to be twisted in a constant and very disgusted scowl as she was pushed through the halls of the hospital and then to the car in a wheelchair.

The warrior...was in a wheelchair.

Zanna would've cried pathetically if she hadn't been so angry, her eyes boring holes in whoever even much as looked at her. She wasn't weak! Weak people don't get pushed around in wheelchairs after breaking a leg, the ******** use crutches!

But unfortunately, those b*****d whores that called themselves doctors wouldn't let her use them. They said she needed a week of bedrest at LEAST, and that meant no walking, no standing, and definately no training or going out.

Well ********. Life really ******** sucked at this moment and the teen knew it was going to get worse.

She seemed to be literally steaming when X helped her into the car, by picking her up and carrying her to the front seat, which was all the way back to accomadate for her daughter.

The car ride itself was silent and strangely docile considering it was X who was driving, but when the two of them reached home, most of the family was there to greet her. It was Slush, her child hood friend, who came to help X with Zanna.

Once inside, they rolled her to the temporary bedroom suite they had set up in the room near the kitchen, lifting her up and setting her in the bed once they got there.

"I'm glad you're okay!" The overexcited Slush replied while he was fixing the covers and the sling the doctor had given them before they left.

The comment only received a violent glare from Zanna, who growled out her first words since they had stuffed her in that blasted wheelchair. "******** look at me... Do I LOOK okay to you?! They won't even let me WALK with CRUTCHES! You know I'm strong enough!" Yep, the teen was most definately about to explode, and all Slush could do was try and give his sister a comforting smile and headshake, but Zanna's voice had already been breaking with emotion.

"At least you didn't crack open your skull..." With that interrupting comment, X swept out of the room. If Zanna wanted to sulk and cry about it all, she could, but that wasn't the daughter that she knew.

After watching her mother leave, she gave an absolutely pathetic glance to Slush, who understood and swiftly turned to adult, hopping up on the bed and curling up next to her, head resting on her shoulder.

The teen cracked her first smile of the day, no matter how small and deranged it looked as her hand closest moved to scritch behind her brother's ears, the murring noise he made comforting her.

As the drugs began to kick in again and the Simu began to drift off to sleep, a light hoot caught her attention, and she glanced in the direction of the noise, her eyes widening when she saw what it was.

It was the owl she had saved! Perched on her own perch at the side of the room, right next to her bed. How had she missed it earlier?

"She's been here since we found you and the ambulance came. Methinks she's quite fond of you... Does she have a name?" Slush, still in his adult form, piped up at the sight of another smile from Zanna, who nodded slightly and spoke the first name that came to mind.

"Sevati..." The owl simply cooed in response, apparently happy that the girl who saved her knew her name.

Zanna would've reached out to pet Sevati, but her vision began to haze and she yawned widely. Soon after, with the help of Slush nuzzling her shoulder, the teen drifted off to sleep.

The figure at the doorway simply smiled at the threesome before turning to check on the twins, as well as the father and a few others. "This shall be interesting..." Were her only words as she made her way upstairs, a crooked smile on her lips.

RP

A woman who looked around the age of twenty ducked quickly into the establishment, taking down her jacket hood and shaking out her purple and black hair, which was currently in dreads. Swiftly, the vampire tossed her hair up into a high ponytail, a few dreads escaping into her face as she turned her eyes to the shoppe.

Tired of dealing with Zanna on drugs, X had decided to come to the shoppe where she first received the mirror, and then post up something about the teen on the bulletin board. Mayhaps she could coax a few fellow Simus to come visit her, though it was doubtful considering Zanna's usual temperment. Hell it was worth a shot right?

Elijah had already been inside. Granted, he'd gotten tired of waiting for someone to arrive and began to, er, "rest his eyes," but at least in body he's present.

More of a bump on the couch than anything, the teen emits a gentle humming snore. Much, much more comfortable that that stiff old cot he's used to sleeping on.. The noise of the door shutting rouses him gently, but he takes his time to open his eyes at a rather slow pace.

Groaning gently, he sits up and runs his fingers front to back through his matted hair.

Hearing the noises of someone stirring, X jostled her eyes to the couch before actually walking towards it, eyeing the teen over the back of the furniture. Maybe he knew Zanna, and what was more fun than confusing people who just woke up? With a light smirk, she gave a soft chuckle and finally spoke.

"Hullo there. Do you by chance know a girl named Zanna?" '...and do you not hate her?' Well, that's what X had wanted to continue the statement with, but she just took a step back and looked over the teen. That tattoo was pretty nice.

"Zanna?" he repeats groggily, trying to smooth down his hair appropriately. Ah, yeah! Can't be forgetting that name, not after that frighteningly memorable second meeting. "Eee-yeah, I know'r. Why, is she missing or something?"

If Elijah had been more awake at the time, he would have noticed the similarities between the guardian and Simu, especially the interest in his tattoo. But, nothing.

"Not missing, she's bedridden... got hurt the other day." X made motion with her hand as if she were brushing the whole thing off before smiling in his direction. "So I came down here to post the news on the bulletin board, maybe she'll cheer up with some visitors...?"

Not like Zanna really wanted to be seen 'weak' and 'helpless' like she was, but X could care less because the girl was driving everyone crazy in the house. Besides, X hadn't gotten the chance to meet her friends either. Sneaky mother version of X. Ha!

Elijah tries to pry himself slowly from the couch with no prevail on the first attempt. Trying again, he manages to break free, solid floor under his bare feet again. Sure, his boots were around here somewhere, but.. who needs shoes?

"I s'pose so.. wasn't planning on doing much anyways.." he agrees with a thoughtless shrug of the shoulders. "She got herself hurt? How did she manage that? She doesn't look like the type to be injured easily.." He hadn't known nor talked to her for very long, but the appearance of her strength told the teen enough to make that type of judgement.

"I'll let her tell you, it's the least I can do since she's disgusted with herself for it..." There was a shrug from the vampire before she smiled and pulled out a piece of paper, a flyer of sorts. Walking over to the postboard, X rather violently pegged the paper up on the board before returning her attention to the teen, eyes glancing up at his height.

"Shall we? It's not that far of a walk..." Truth was, X had teleported most of the way there, that way, she didn't have to deal with a lot of the nasty cold snow. "Either that or I can teleport us both there in a stereotypical flash."

The mention of teleportation clearly interests the Simu teen a lot greater. Trying to brush away his enthusiasm as immediately as it appears, he brushes his hand against the back of his neck.

"Teleporting is something new.. never done that before. But, whatever you prefer, ma'am," he adds politely, his arm dropping to his side again. Judging by the force used to pin up the paper, it doesn't seem wise to him to say or do anything to offend.

She cringed lightly when he called her 'ma'am', it made her feel old! Damnit she only looked twenty, twenty-three tops! Shaking her head, X stepped towards him and smiled. "You ready? Don't get dizzy and throw up, or you get to clean the mess..."

With that, she wrapped her arms around him before he could protest, closing her eyes and phasing them both out of the shoppe. Moments later, they reappeared in X's foyer in the same position as before they left.

Elijah blinks a few times, waiting for the whole thing to set in. He doesn't feel any different than when he left, so he assumed that everything went swimmingly. After all, what's a little teleporting when you've been out flying in various dangerous weather conditions?

"That was.. interesting. Thanks," he offers. I guess I thought it was something more than that, he says silently, letting his eyes wander the foyer for any sign of the teen's bedroom.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 28, 2005 6:40 pm

X noticed they teen's eyes wandering the house as she pulled back from him and motioned towards a door on the right. "She's downstairs, through that door, the living room and then the second door on the left..." With that, the vampire seemingly vanished, leaving Elijah to figure everything out on his own. Her job was done here.

Zanna was in 'her' room petting a snow owl that was perched on her stomach. It's left leg was in a split much like the Simu's, only Zanna's cast went all the way up to her hip and was up in a hanging sling. At the moment, the teen was checking up on how her 'friend' was healing, speaking to it in a soft voice. "Feelin' better Sevati? It's looking better..."

Next to the Simu on the nightstand was her knife and the set of throwing knives X had bought her to make her feel better, a few of which were stuck in the dart board across the room.

There is careful hesitation in Elijah's steps as he makes his way through the first door. For all he knows, this could have been a carefully orchestrated trap.. for what reason, he hadn't quite imagined up yet, but there was still the possibility..!

Following the directions given to him - downstairs through the first door, second door on the left - he finally finds himself approaching the correct bedroom door. Was it the right thing to do, to agree to visit her when he hadn't even known her more than a few brief encounters? Hell, regrets aren't appropriate when you're standing in her doorway..

Knocking twice in a row, Elijah suddenly wonders and begins to imagine up what kind of condition could keep such a girl bedridden..
PostPosted: Fri Jan 28, 2005 6:53 pm

Zanna was surprised by the knock, usually she had to yell to get someone to come visit her in the house as of late. What? So she had been a bit grumpy lately, who wouldn't in her situation? Sighing softly, she responded to the knock in a slightly adgitated and confused voice. Maybe the drugs were kicking in again.

"Come in, it's not like I can jump up and answer it..." Sevati tilted her head towards the door, hooting softly as she stared at it along with Zanna.

The hoot of the owl makes the teen's wings unconsciously ruffle. Pushing the door open, his eyes fall on the owl first of all, the girl second. Quite an odd pattern, but it works for him.

"Sorry to, uh, visit without any warning or anything, it's just your mom- at least I think she's your mom - your guardian? Whoever it was, she asked me to come pay you a visit." He takes anoter awkward step inside; the touch of bare skin to floor makes him realize that he'd left his boots back at the HQ. Ehhh.. just a little explaining to do, and a little improvising, when it comes time to go home.

He doesn't come any closer. Instead, he drops his hands to his sides, one still level with the doorknob. "You doing alright? You weren't this roughed up the last time I saw you.." he adds with a quiet, uneasy laugh.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 28, 2005 7:16 pm

Ohhh, it was Elijah! The guy with the rather hot tattoo, seeing him caused Zanna to grin a rather goofy grin, most of which was due to the painkillers she was on, or at least that's what she wanted to believe. "Oh no, you're welcome... and yeah, that's my guardian..."

She motioned towards the chair right next to the bed where X had dragged it up the other night while they played 'darts' with the knives. One hand moved to ruffle Sevati's feathers before she glanced down to the leg in question. "Ice made the tree branch weak and I fell... That's the short answer. Long story is that I climbed the tree to rescue Sevati, her leg had been roughed up, and well I got up there just fine... Then I bandaged and splinted her, and was making my way down when a branch I was stepping down on broke... and... and I fell, cracked my leg on a rather large branch... It's broken in three places now..."

With a nervous chuckle, Zanna brought her eyes up to his face, trying to keep the disappointment in herself out of her gaze. "You know what's funny... I thought of you when I was falling. I wished that I could've had wings just that once because now..." An angered sigh came from her lips before she smiled again, this one strained as well, "I'm ******** weak now and I hate it... Helpless, what kind of warrior is like that?!"

She didn't know why or how she told him all of this all at once, but it felt good.

Elijah drags his hand across the back of the chair before sitting down, soaking in her story word for word. He rests back, his wings folding appropriately in order to avoid being crushed in several places.

Blinking twice, he begins his thought out reply. "I don't know if my wings would do you any good in that situation, actually. They don't fair well in colder weather, which is really a b***h because it limits my flying to practically nothing. Besides, ol' hawk wings like mine don't suit .. someone like you." He sidesteps around any type of elaborating there.

Elijah continues after another thoughtful pause, intending to reply to the last part carefully. "Without pain, there isn't any growth of a person. I'd say - and it's only my opinion o'course - that all warriors would prolly have to suffer at some point to gain a stronger level of themselves." He shrugs slightly, almost unnoticably. "But, think what you want."
PostPosted: Fri Jan 28, 2005 7:43 pm

"Like I said the last time we met... Your wings are rather beautiful, but why wouldn't they suit me...?" Zanna wasn't quite understanding why his wings wouldn't work on her, other than the fact that they were currently attached to him. After her pause, her voice started up once more, "I agree, in fact I enjoy the soreness from a good work out, but this... I can't even get up and go to the ******** bathroom without having to call someone to help me up and whatnot..."

Zanna trailed off with a disgruntled sigh, but smiled when she decided to change the subject from her to him, particularly his tattoo. "What do you think it means...? Or mine for that matter... Our tattoos?" Reaching out, she brushed her thumb over his chin before pulling it back to rest on the makeshift bed, her eyes catching his as she waited for his voice.

"They- they could mean a number of things, really. It's up for interpretation.. one of those 'in the eyes of the beholder' types of situations, I guess."

Elijah brushes at his bangs, temporarily driving them away from his line of vision. Carefully looking her up and down, his eyes fall back onto her face. Painkillers, he assumes, are still in her system; either that or she might actually be truthful. "My wings wouldn't suit you because they aren't.. they don't fit your appearance at all. They'd completely throw you off, too - I could see you without the feathers.."

He finds himself talking senselessly; Elijah shakes his head, moving away from that topic and back to the last, somewhat tying them both in.

"Maybe it is what they say, an' all things happen for a reason, y'know? You wouldn't have your owl friend here otherwise." he takes a moment to acknowledge Sevati, silently memorizing her colours, "So I say, even know I haven't seen your tattoos to know for sure, but I say that they can be whatever the hell we want them to be. Who the ******** knows for sure, really? They're a part of us like everything else now.."

He had become relaxed during this conversation - why was this? He'd never talked so openly about things like this before. Perhaps the opportunity just never arose..
