[Somewhere in the distance the clock strikes three...]
[Dawn-Part I]

It was no surprise to find Aido outside, deep within the forest that stretched out from her home.

Bi-colored eyes were shut, her head was tilted just upwards from the grass on which she lay and Rael was no where to be seen. The mid-afternoon sun beat down gently on her exposed feet and arms, as her loose crimson shirt had been rolled up to prevent overheating and she'd simply forgotten shoes.

It was much cooler here than in the cities of Gaia, though it could be argued that her newly Air conditioner suited room was even cooler. But she'd needed to get out of the house.

"Gifts are too hard..." she mumbled to herself, idly toying with the shadows that branched off from the hundreds of blades of grass that lay about and under her. Khia's gift had simply come to her and, after the initial attempt which had fallen apart on her lap, had come together with ease. Linny's refused to; her ideas didn't work, the Shadows refused to cooperate and when they did cooperate they would soon rebel and fall to pieces. All in all it was very frustrating.

Camp had partially helped her to ignore her frustration yet had added to another segment of it in the growing annoyance that was Dillon.

"Graaaaaaahhhhhhh..." why had her thoughts gone in that direction of all places?

The Tale sat up, her halo standing sharply to attention as she curled her legs up to her chest and sighed, mentally prodding at her own churning emotions and vaguely wishing they would just leave her be for a time.

Lost in thought she didn't notice the small projectile that flew through the air, landing some feet away from her. But the second one that quickly followed was much harder to ignore as it skimmed her cheek sharply, jerking her out of her reprieve as her eyes sprung open.

The third small projectile just barely skimmed her ear, and only because she saw it coming and had instinctively moved. Ducking to avoid another one she quickly grabbed at one that had fallen nearby.

A rock.

An innocent, fairly small, smooth, probably from the nearby river, rock.

She eyed the tiny object for a moment, vaguely hoping it would give her an answer as to why it'd been flung her way.

Of course no such answer came forth and after a moment she uncurled from the protective position she'd scrambled into and quickly stood up.

Immediately two of the tiny stones were launched forth, one hit its mark, bouncing off with a mild sting from her exposed forearm while a twist of her leg allowed her to evade the second.

With a light grimace she raised her hand up, palms out in an attempt to show she had nothing to hide. "Hello!" she called, "is someone out there?" Maybe they didn't know she was here?

A small, jeering laugh echoed from with shrubbery immediately followed by a chorus of whispers as another rock sailed through the air and rolled to a stop a few feet away from her, though her attention did not follow it as the shrubbery continued to stir.

A group of figures gracefully stepped out from within the shadowed forest, out into the bright sunshine, none looking older than her mother. Their faces were shrouded in shadow, blocking her view of their eyes, though they each wore a small, twisted smile on their faces. An expression of a hunter coming across wounded prey.

Instinctively Aido took a step back as the hairs on the back of her neck stood to attention. Large groups circulating about Barton, Durem or even the Stationary Shop were commonplace, some seemed sinister, other warm and welcoming; but a group this large in the forest was something she'd never come across before.

'Ah that's her.' 'That's her.' 'Her?' 'Her.'

Aido took another step back at the hostile murmurs.

'Feh, larger.' 'Bolder.' 'Older.' 'Darker!' 'Shade.' 'Shadow.' 'Unstable?' 'Very.' 'Cursed?' 'Cursed!' 'Undeserving.' 'Pitiful.' 'Of course!'

The Shadows at the feet of the group stirred, whispers of wonder and worry for one they considered theirs' were nudging at the back of her mind, causing Aido to put even more distance between herself and the group, though her eyes remained fixed on the stones the group held which ranged from the size of a penny to the size of a coconut. Something in the back of her mind stirred; old, worn, emotions. A large dose of pity mixed with more than a dash of fear.

Her expression hardened as she pushed the emotions back, eyes snapping to the shadowed faces of the group; each still a mirror of the last.

-Phantoms- Rael's voice laced across her mind as he stretched into being, accompanied by a growing background of murmurs from the Shadows. Golden eyes narrowed as the group turned their focus onto him as one.

A single biting laugh, dripping with contempt was the group's reaction, or as much as Aido could hear.

It was enough, as with a low snarl, Rael suddenly threw himself forward into the group, all obsidian teeth and lashing claws. The group scattered and a single word from Rael froze Aido in mid spring. -Run- echoed away and was relayed back, again and again, louder and more forceful each time by the shadows at her feet.

"Rael!" she called, muscles loosening as she fought against the grip her Shadow seemed to have placed on her. But as she tried to push herself forwards she found herself still rooted to the spot.

The shadows had latched onto her bare ankles and laced upwards along her calves to her knees. Echoing Rael's voice again and again they forcefully shifted her shifted her around and began to raise her legs, buckle her knees and move her, first at a walk then at a run that bordered on painful away from the site.

[Dawn-Part Ib]

It wasn't until she was back in familiar territory that the Shadows found it fit to release her from their numbing grip. Immediately overexerted and numbed her legs collapsed beneath her and she tumbled onto the ground.

The young Tale didn't move for several moments. Tears of disbelief were stinging uncontrollably at her eyes and she forcible pressed her face against the moss she'd been fortunate enough to land in.

How could Rael have sent her away?

"-do! Aido!"

The call caused her to stir, pushing herself up as her bi-colored eyes searched for the source, finding in the light haired teen running quickly towards her.

She blinked and quickly rubbed a sleeve against her eyes to hide any signs of tears while trying to address the newcomer, "Victoria?" the crimson cloth came down and Victoria was sitting beside her, a look of concern etched on her features, "what're you doing here?"

"I was taking a walk and I saw you. You looked like a sleepwalker in the middle of a fight with her own legs, Ai."

Aido couldnt help the faintest trace of a smile that tugged at her lips, despite the lingering feeling of betrayal that'd settled over her heart. "I did?"

"Yes, so why, pray tell, were-" Victoria's eyes, which had been tracing Aido's form for signs of injury halted at an exposed ankle. "What's that?"

She followed the trail of Victoria's eyes to her own ankle and merely sighed at the shadow that was curled delicately around her ankle and foot. Aido quirked an eyebrow at it and plucked it away from her skin, noting the various cuts she's acquired and what looks like several pieces of glass that were jutting from the bottom of her foot. As soon as the shadow rejoined its fellows the cuts began to sting and smart sharply.

"I think I smell irony," she muttered, mood darkening slightly, momentarily forgetting Victoria as her mind slid back to Rael, wherever the idiotic Shadow could be, and she idly began to pick out the shards.

"A Shadow?"

Aido looked back to the Victoria, surprised that her expression was one of keen interest, "yes." At the moment she saw no point in lying. Either Victoria would run screaming through the hills... or she wouldn't.

Oddly enough emerald eyes pinned her with an almost accusatory look, she merely blinked curiously in response, vaguely wondering if her initial impression that Victoria had some insight into Shadows was wrong.

Without speaking Victoria suddenly reached forward, grabbing the back of Aido's head with almost painful force and brought their foreheads together, all before the Tale could attempt to draw away.

Marks flare into existence, cool against the two girls' skin, the feeling brushing along through the conscious as recognition of a similar nature between the two of them was given.

Victoria released Aido's hair and fellback against her hands, eyes wide.

Baffled by what has just happened Aido merely returned the wide eyed stare, fingers reaching up to press against a mark she hadn't known existed and even then it was fading back into her forehead, leaving no trace that it was ever there at all.

Victoria was the first to break the silence and does so with the slightest of laughs and a quiet, "ohhoho."

[Dawn- Part Ic]

"Ohhoho."

Aido blinked at the older girl, positively baffled by her reaction. "Oh...ho...ho?" she echoed lamely, the feeling that something had just gone over her head stifling in it''s sudden intensity.

"Yes," an impish smile was tugging at her features, an odd light playing in her eyes. The flora beneath whispered as Aido instinctively shuffled back slightly, before catching herself mid motion and looking the other girl in the eyes.

"Victoria, what are you talking about?"

"You, my dear! You''re a Shadow Mancer, how odd that I didn''t notice sooner..." she put a finger to her lips consideringly.

Aido felt a weight lift and smiled slightly; so that was it. Victoria was just confused! Laughing quietly she shook her head, "no, I''m a Tale, not a...er, Shadow Mancer you called it?" With the situation no longer spinning into the realm of bizarre beyond her ability to cope with her curiosity had perked again, "by the by, what is that?"

Victoria''s emerald gaze shifted back to her as one light eyebrow quirked up, "a... Tale? Like a story you read in books?"

"No, that''s just what I am, a Tale. I was born in-" she paused and shifted what she was about to say, "at a Stationary Shop. Others who were born there are also Tales." An abbreviated version but, while she liked the older girl, she didn''t feel quiet comfortable to tell her her precise origins.

"Is this Stationary Shop in Gaia?" The older girl pressed on.

"Yes... why?"

Victoria''s brow knitted together in quiet contemplation. That was... interesting information. She stowed it away for later, noting the guarded look Aido was beginning to acquire.

"I-no, my dear you see..." trailing off she took a deep breath and stood, "your home is nearby, yes

"Yes."

"Then come on, let''s head there and clean up those cuts of yours then I''ll attempt to explain, alright?"

With a sigh Aido nodded slowly, taking the older girl''s offered hand then leaning on her as Victoria laced an arm around her waist, taking most of the weight off her feet, which were protesting loudly with pain again.

"Is it the place I dropped you off when you mom couldn''t pick you up from camp?"

Aido nodded, "yeah."

"Right then," stepping towards the nearest tree Victoria easily slid into its Shadow with Aido, causing the younger girl to nearly gasp in surprise, but before she could the sharp, sudden cold of the Shadows stole the breath needed neatly away.

--

It was the shuffling of feet that brought Chao''s attention back to reality. With a tilt of her head the Author''s keen ears noted that it was more than the usual lone pair of softly padding steps that Aido so wonderfully represented.

With a quiet ''hm'' she shut the book she''d been reading and stood, stretching out cramped muscles before she began to move towards the stairs, intent on saying hello to whomever her daughter had brought over.

A small, crisp white envelope stopped her in her tracks. It was the lone piece of mail for the day. In fact, the mail shouldn''t have come yet.

Arcing an eyebrow the guardian moved over and ripped open the envelope, plucking the letter from inside. The two girls? upstairs remained neatly oblivious, too wrapped up in the conversation that had resumed.

--

Swinging newly bandaged feet to and fro Aido peered intently at Victoria. The older girl had insisted, much to Aido''s chagrin. The idea of being something other than a Tale was... well, interesting in it''s own light, but clearly wrong.

"I-hm..." Victoria sighed, seemingly trying to find the best place to begin.

"What is a Shadow Mancer?" Aido pressed, curiosity, as always, getting the best of her.

"Right, a Shadow Mancer is one who can, as the name suggests, work with Shadows."

"Can''t many beings in Gaia do that?"

"Yes, but not all of them have marks which react to another Shadow Mancer," Victoria replied. Whatever response Aido had held on the tip of her tongue fell away as two nimble digits pressed against her own forehead questioningly.

"Oh. Is that what I felt then?"

Victoria nodded, the barest of a smile tugging at her lips as she saw that the younger girl was beginning to lose her fevered dismissal of her explanation.

"Why did it do that?"

"Because of your Shadow."

"My...Shadow?" that immediately made her think of Rael, Rael made her have a mark?

"Yes the one," she gave Aido''s chest a small tap, "in there."

This explaination was not helping, Aido gave the older girl a helplessly confused look, "inside me?"

"Yes, listen, here... there''s a myth that explains it better than my attempts will, do you have a piece of paper I could write on?"

Nodding slightly Aido stood, brain shifting to autopilot as she moved instinctively towards where her journal had fallen weeks prior. As she grasped it in her hands she blinked and dusted the blue cover off fondly, with the gift from her friend in her hand she felt a little more solid. A little less like the situation was spiraling out of her coping range yet again.

Flipping to a fresh page near the back, far away from her own scattered entries, she handed it over to Victoria who pulled a pen out of her pocket and patted beside her.

"I can talk while I write..." she muttered, "but I can recall it better if I''m writing."

Sitting where the older girl had indicated Aido listened as she began to speak as the letters easily flowed onto the paper.

Once one got up into the hills near Durem the heat easily cooled off making what might have been a blistering, humid day in the city shifted into a moderately cool if not a bit blustery, day.

Which was a rather apt reason for most of the Luaier family to be out and about, shifting inside and out as they went about the day's business.

Fai was sitting up on the roof, bent over a weather map, comparing it to the map in his sister's hand in an attempt to get a better sense of how things moved naturally. After all, if a huge snowstorm suddenly moved in from the east people might get curious. Yes, it was definitely best to get his facts straight before he dove back into weather manipulation.

Taking another glance at the paper in her hand, Jizzy looked up at the house at the top of the hill. A small, sleeping child was in her arms, and he appeared to be normal, if you overlooked the cloth like wings, devil tail and baglike eyebrow wings.. Next to her, Teryl was striding quietly, a book tucked under her arm.

"We should have called first, mother.."

She said quickly, but Jizzy simply smiled. This was a surprise visit.

Runae's ears flickered as she caught the sound of footsteps heading up their hill. Frowning as much as her maw would allow she gave her tail a small flick. It was very odd to have anyone but the current occupants, who were all present, wander up this way.

Ae' she called into the household, stretching out for the teen and was rewarded with a mental curse and a thump from the upstairs as Chao attempted to jump up with her history book on her lap.

What is it Ru? Was Chao's terse reply.

There's someon- some people coming up the road.

""I still think we should have called.."

Teryl's logical voice said again. You think by now it was useless lecturing Jizzy on the workings of logic, but alas, she just kept trying. Jizzy just grinned as she reached the doorway and nodded to Teryl, indicating she knock. It was rather hard to knock when holding a baby in you arms.. Teryl sighed and obliged, knocking on the door three times..

The door swung open just as the third knock sounded, revealing Chao with a look of cold anger on her face. But as soon as she saw whom it was the expression cleared and there was nothing but warm relief and welcome in her eyes.

"Jizzy! Teryl! And a new babe I see! Do what do I owe this visit?"

An extra two pair of bi-colored eyes were now watching the scene curiously. Aido and Fai had abandoned their maps at the sound of a knock and were now leaning over the edge of the slanted roof.

"I was in town, and I though I might drop by.. I hope it's no trouble.. I brought Deimos as well.? She said this a rather quickly, seemingly exited at having a friend to visit now.

"Teryl just sighed and rolled her eyes, sometimes she swore she was more mature than her mother..

"It's no trouble at all! We just never get visitors, living up here and all," actually that was the reason she'd bought the land in the first place, but she wasn't as paranoid of the citizens of Gaia now. At least not the ones she knew.

Her face didn't betray her thoughts in the least, "would you three like to come in?" looking over their shoulder she rolled her eyes, "Fai! Ai! Come down and say hello."

Before anyone could look Aido had already slid into the Shadows, leaving a smiling, if not a bit red cheeked, Fai to scramble away from the roofs edge towards the second floor open window.

Shaking her head Chao stepped out of the way and beckoned the group inside.

"Jizzy bounded inside cheerfully, much to the opposite of her methodical homunculus, who strode in carefully, slowly, her eyes taking in every detail they could about the house.

"Ai? Another one I suppose, she's older right.. Deimos hasn?t had much to do with kids his own age and well.. he's a bit.. rambunctious.."

Jizzy said kindly, not really looking over the house in detail as Teryl did.

"Mmmhmmm, Ai's my eldest-" she paused and made a face though didn't stop walking, leading the small group through the warm feeling house to the kitchen, "I never thought I'd find myself saying that...."

Aido herself slid back through the ceiling of the kitchen just before the group walked in, landing on the kitchen counter in a crouch, halo glowing softly as she sighed. It was so much harder to do this without Rael....

Fai bounded down the stairs with a smile, though it faded slightly as he noted his sister's place. "Ah, ceiling again?"

Aido nodded and hopped onto the floor.

Jizzy blinked several times at seeing Ai on the kitchen counter, but soon shrugged it off. The small child in her arms began to stir and both Jizzy and Teryl both noticeable stiffened. Teryl made a beeline for Fai, arriving at his side quickly.

"Hello.."

She said simply, still eyeing the baby with a slightly scared look on her face.

Aido barely seemed to notice the slightly odd expression on Jizzy's face, her bi-colored eyes looking over each of the new people briefly before smiling warmly, "hello there."

Fai blinked away from the new people to focus on Teryl, his expression immediately warmed, as if trying to compensate for her own slightly scared look, "hello, m'names Fai," he tilted his head, trying to place where he'd seen her before, "aha! I saw you at that lab place, didn't I?"

""Yes.. My name's Teryl..Pleasure to meet you both."

She said, giving out a small sigh as the baby stopped moving and fell back into a deep sleep.

Jizzy also let out a long sigh. "The longer Deimos sleeps, the better.. He's a real handful..."

Jizzy said, smiling though. She could complain all she wanted about Deimos, but deep down, he was still her baby..

"Aha, I know the feeling," Chao's eyes flickered playfully to Aido as she walked in. The Tale merely tightened her scarf slightly in response.

"And... perhaps a formal introduction would be helpful, hrm?" She tilted her head before charging onwards, "right, I'm Chao, this is Fai and that's Aido," she gestured to each in turn. "My brother Rico should be around here, so if you see someone who looks quite a bit like me, but male, that's him and not some creepy stalker trying to mimic my every way."

Both Fai and Aido let out small snort of a laugh at that.

Jizzy chuckled lightly, while Teryl just tried not to crack a small smile.

"Well, if it's for introductions, that's Teryl and this is Deimos, and I'm Jizzy."

She said, mostly towards Fai and Ai.

"Teryl sighed softly.? Mother, I already introduced myself.."

She said softly, and Jizzy nodded.

"I know.."

She said simply, causing Teryl to roll her eyes. Why did she get stuck with the weird one?

Fai twitched as he felt the dreaded silence of the post introduction phase begin to settle and his mind quickly searched for what little he knew of the other girl. She'd been reading a book; maybe she'd like the trunk?

Giving her sleeve a small tug to gain her attention again Fai smiled mischievously and lowered his voice, "Teryl, want to go see something interesting?"

Aido fell back into silence, simply looking at these new people, it was nice to have other people around for a change, though at the same time it only strengthened her resolve to head back to the Stationary Shop soon.

Chao leant back against the kitchen counter easily, tilting an eyebrow at Deimos, "er, if you don't mind me asking, where did Deimos come from Jizzy?"

"Teryl glanced over at Fai and once spotted the spark of mischief in his eyes, cracked a genuine smile. "Sure.." f there was one thing she loved more than books, was living the adventures out herself.

Jizzy smiled at the question, even though she was rather clueless about the TRUE story of how Deimos came to arrive with her.

"He's a Magical Mishap... A by-product of a spell gone wrong.. much to complex to reverse, so they?re adopted instead.."

His own smile brightened at Teryl finally cracked a real smile. "We'll be upstairs Aemu!" Fai called and headed quickly up said stairs, gesturing for Teryl to follow him.

Sighing at the nickname Fai had adopted, just as Aido had Chao nodded and gestured them onwards before perking at what Jizzy was saying, "wow, sounds complicated, but practical. And Gaia's one of the few places you could do that kind of thing I suppose."

"Yes.. Gaia is definitely a one of a kind place.. I'm rather fond of it here, the variety is a refreshing."

Jizzy said softly, feeling the child move in her arms, his face beginning to screw up. Her hand dove into a baby bag on her shoulder and she pulled out a bottle of what looked like blood. The child?s eyes opened and he opened his mouth to bawl, but Jizzy had already handed him the bottle and he burbled and began to drink.

"It's his feeding time.."

She explained simply..

Meanwhile Teryl had followed Fai quickly, her heart beating in expectation of what might be upstairs.

"What sort of thing will we be seeing?"

She asked eagerly.

"Definitely a refreshing place to find oneself, I take it you weren't born here then?" Chao tilted her head, glancing to Aido as the Tale slipped onto the kitchen counter next to her, mindlessly playing with the shadow her mother cast while listening closely.

Fai smiled to his companion and he trotted down the hallway, briefly patting the various creatures that seemed to litter the place, turned and opened a door which led to yet another staircase, "just wait and see, 'kay?"

Jizzy nodded as Deimos eyed Aido's shadows from the corner of his eye. He was have investigated, but.. he was much to hungry at the moment.

"True.. I wasn't born anywhere near here.."

She said. Or anywhere near this time either...

Teryl's eyes shined with excitement and she grabbed Fai's hand in hers, leaning in to whisper to him.

"Please.. just a hint.."

She said, softly subtly, but her face quite near his.

Chao nodded in turn, "sometimes I really wonder how many of Gaia's citizens were born in Gaia...."

Fai merely smiled wickedly and seemed to consider whether or not to grant her a hint as they climbed up the carpeted stairs, "hrm... well...."

"I don't think many were. Gaia seems like a place where people immigrate too.. in some way.." Jizzy said, the smile still on her face, unless of course, the empty baby bottle of blood was promptly chucked on her head. She screwed up her face at the impact and sighed.

"Please.." She whispered in his ear again, still grasping his hand as he led them upwards.

"It's that kind of place I suppose," Chao murmured, snickering lightly at Deimos' shot. If she noticed that it carried the remnants of blood in it she didn't seem to mind, perhaps she really had been in Gaia for too long....

Fai glanced at her, wondering why she was so dead-set on whispering in his ear, but decided to give anyway.

"It's something actors usually use in plays," her said finally.

Teryl gave a soft sigh and refrained from any more whispers but kept her hand on his. She started working on the hint he had given her, but it would take her a while, they'd probably arrive before she figured it out.

Deimos had now finished eating and his eyes were locked onto Ai and her shadows. He gave a curious burble and extended his arms towards her, trying to break free from his mother?s arms.

The last few stairs were climbed and the two Homunculus' arrived in a warm, carpeted attic space. Various knickknacks were all spread over the floor and the walls, though the real majority of such random things lived in the basement or the garage.

Tugging Teryl's hand Fai led her in the direction of one of the small windows and finally stopped in front of a huge ancient looking trunk, "open it!" he urged eagerly.

Aido broke away from her thoughts at Deimos' burble and smiled kindly at the baby. Cupping some of the Shadow in one hand she held it up so he could see it better.

Teryl pulled her hand gently away from Fai's and placed her hands on the chest. It was old.. very old, and this only incited her curiosity more. With a moment of a hesitation, she soon opened the trunk.

Deimos gave a happy clap and a cheerful burble at the sight of the shadows, but once he allowed his small eyes to wander he froze, looking at the halo atop Ai's head. He soon gave an angry shout and refused to look at Ai anymore.

Jizzy gulped.. "The halo.. probably makes him feel uncomfortable.. He has demonic blood in him.."

Inside the trunk was an innumerable number of well kept costumes. There didn't seem to be any sort of reigning genre for which they were designed, there were dresses heavy with frills and carefully folded, if a bit threadbare, cloaks among many other articles.

"Oh..." Aido murmured softly, the smile vanishing from her face as her halo dropped sharply into her hair. "oh... well, I don't want to make him uncomfortable. Sorry Deimos," she pushed off the kitchen counter and crossed swiftly to the nearest shadow, vanishing into its depths before her mother could call her back.

Dropping the hand that had shot out to grab her daughter Chao sighed and raked it through her dark locks with a heavy sigh at Ai's abrupt disappearance.

Teryl's eyes grew wide as she gazed at the costume... "These are.. amazing.. May.. may we try them on?" She asked happily.

Jizzy sighed.. "Deimos is very temperamental.. He'll probably want her back soon.."

"Of course!" Fai grinned, pleased that Teryl was happy.

Chao sighed and rubs at her forehead, "yes, I know, but Aido, well, I suppose she's just rather self conscious about her halo."

She glanced to Jizzy and Deimos, "I hope he doesn't want her back too soon, she probably won't come back for a while now," and I can't reach her until she does, she thought unhappily.

Teryl immediately snatched up a costume from the chest, hiding it behind her back. "Where could I change?" She asked politely.

Jizzy sighed. "I try to teach Deimos good manners but.. Sometimes he just won?t listen to me.." Deimos was still acting very upset, he had perfectly good reason to.. at least he thought.

Fai blinked and looked around, snatching up an old beach towel he wandered to one of the relatively unoccupied corners and quickly strung it up by hijacking two thumbtacks from the wall. It made for a fairly decent changing screen, "there! How's that?"

"Eh heh, sometimes I fear babies can be very set in their ways, and sometimes they just don't understand what you're trying to explain. As far as I can tell it's normal," she smiled gently at Deimos.

"Perfect.." Teryl said, ducking into the changing thing as son as it was ready.

Jizzy gave another loud sigh. "I suppose but, also.. Deimos is so.. he's quite a handful.. They say it?s his demonic blood back at Mishap HQ.."

Fai continued to root through the costumes, looking for something to change into after Teryl was done.

Chao merely shrugged, "eh, well, technically demons can be quiet and complacent just as easily as they can be loud and a handful, he's probably just enjoying being his baby self."

This last comment made Jizzy smile. "Yeah.. That's probably it.." She said. Deimos finally looked out from his mothers arms, as if looking for Ai once more, and he seemed rather upset at not having found her. Tears formed in his eyes and he began to bawl.

In a few minutes time, Teryl emerged from behind the towel, in a costume that strikingly resembled the 'Point of No return' costume from Phantom of the Opera... She loved anything Phantom of the Opera, from the movie to the book and she'd get her hands on anything her mother handed to her. Teryl did a little spin in front of Fai, allowing one sleeve to slip down onto her shoulder, as it did in the film. "How do I look?"

Chao grimaced slightly as Deimos began to cry after looking around, probably for her newly disappeared Tale. She gave Jizzy a helpless look.

Fai, who infact had seen Phantom of the Opera, prompted by sighting Teryl's copy at the Lab raised his eyebrows slightly and clapped, "it looks wonderful on you," he said sincerely.

Jizzy began to try to calm the small mishap, but instead inciting his fury once more. In a move she had not expected her began to cry out "AI! AI! AI!" She blinked.. was he simply shouting gibberish or were his first words truly the name of this tale.

A pink tinge crept into Teryl's cheeks as she strode to him.. "Thank you.." She said, taking a seat near him and nudging him towards the towel.. "I want to see your costume now.."

Chao looked around, as if hoping her daughter would pop back in, barely noticing a small ripple in the shadow Aido had exited by.

Moments later Aido's head appeared, halo glowing atop her partially soaked head, it's light fading and the circlet dropping into the wet locks as she stepped fully through into the warm household, wet clothing dripping on the rug. "What's going on?" she asked, looking around, eyes wide and slightly alarmed.

"No need to thank me, it's the truth," Fai replied with a slight smile as he continued to paw through the costumes, "and I'm not sure what to pick."

"AI! AI! AI!" Deimos continued to cry, currently oblivious to the Tale's appearance.

Jizzy winced at the loud noise and with her eyes screwed up, she didn't see or hear Aido either. All she could hear were Deimos' constant cried of Ai!

Teryl glanced into the chest. "Anything. Maybe something bold and daring. Something you wouldn?t normally wear."

Chao pointed to the wailing baby in Jizzy's arms, "I think you're being paged."

Aido blinked and quickly headed over placing a hand on Deimos' shoulder, "Deimos? What's the matter?"

Fai hummed quietly before burrowing into the chest once more, grabbing something and retreating behind the curtain.

Deimos felt the warmth of a hand on him and he stopped wailing, looking over at the hand her felt. His face lit up and he extended his arms eagerly towards Aido. "AI! Ai! Ai!' He cried out once more, but, cheerfully this time.

Jizzy smiled.. He was calling her.. "Well, Aido.. You're Deimos' first word.."

Teryl let the other sleeve of her dress fall onto her shoulder as she waited for Fai to emerge.

Aido blinked, raising one eyebrow. Hadn't Deimos just wanted her out of his sight...?

Chao smiled warmly and leant back on her hands but kept her silence.

Fai took his time behind the towel-turned curtain, straightening out sleeves and smoothing out the long coat he'd grabbed before emerging. He'd thrown on a long black coat, one that's tattered tail trailed slightly after him, with it's hood up his face was completely wreathed in shadows, masking his features nicely. Midnight blue pants, equally tattered, hung off his legs and a barely visible blood red shirt covered his torso, though a fairly tight long black sleeves clung to his forearms to wrap around his the base of his middle fingers.

Looking around he grabbed his scythe and slung it over one shoulder.

For a moment, Teryl almost wanted to take a step back. Dressed like this, ad scythe in hand, Fai could be well, frightening.. Or maybe it wasn't fear... No. It was more like a powerful presence, imposing, noticeable.. Teryl offered him a small smile.. "Intimidating.." She said simply.

Deimos, who seemed to notice nothing wrong at his sudden change in mood, kept reaching out to Ai. Jizzy smiled broadly. "Would you like to carry him?"

Knocking back his hood Fai merely grinned, "you said choose something I wouldn't normally wear so here I am..."

Aido glanced at her mother, who merely mouthed 'baby mood swings' at her before nodding to Jizzy and hesitantly reaching out for Deimos.

Teryl felt the intimidation fade slightly at being able to see his face and she stood. "True.. But it fits you.. Gives you an air of power.." She said, circling him, eyeing his outfit from head to toe.

Jizzy placed Deimos carefully in Aido's arms.

He immediately clung to her. "Ai!" He burbled again happily. Now fingering her scarf slightly.

Fai shrugged and scratched at his chin, "an air of power, hrm? How odd, I didn't think an outfit could do that, be useful if you needed to bluff your way out of something."

Aido smiled tentatively and made sure that Deimos was secure in her arms, "hey Deimos."

"The right outfit can do anything. Intimidate, persuade, seduce.." Teryl said, leaving it off at the last word, smiling down at him.

Deimos gave a cheerfully burble before saying. 'Ai! Ai!" Once more. He clung to her quite tightly, apparently now very fond of her.

Fai straightened slightly, rotating the scythe as he tilted his head at her, "ah yes, but unless the person behind the outfit is right and can do the same out of it, it'll all fop in the end, right?"

Aido bounced the little boy in her arms and wandered over, then sat in, one of the more plush kitchen chairs.

Chao smiled fondly at the pair then to her friend.

"True.. But I think you have the potential to be intimidating.. and powerful.." She said, resting a soft hand on his shoulder. "Don?t you?"

Deimos reached a hand up and began to play with Ai's bi-colored hair, first the white, then the black, the intertwining both. He seemed to be very very amused.

Jizzy just smiled as well. "I've never seen him get along with someone so well.."

"Not sure, but doesn't really matter, ne? Power always has it's downfalls, better to just live life!" Honestly he was damn content to not thing about becoming something powerful and intimidating, especially since it seemed if one got too intimidating and/or powerful things eventually came back and kicked you in the a**; namely angry pissy rebellious peoples bent on freeing the world from your tyrannical hold.

Perhaps reading parts of his mother's history notes hadn't been the smartest thing.

Aido laughed quietly but didn't seem to mind as Deimos played with her bi-colored hair.

Chao smiled and kicked her legs back and forth, "well, yay for the first of many [hopefully] good beginnings." She grabbed a glass that had been sitting nearby and raised it in a sort of toast to the little boy.

"True.. But what's life without a little adventure, thrills, risks.." She let her hand slide from Fai's shoulder, instead of simply removing it.

Deimos soon reached up and up through her hair, soon reaching and accidentally touching, the halo.

Jizzy raised up a false glass. "Here, Here." She said, in mock toasting manner.

"Adventure, risks and thrills are great, but you don't need to be powerful or intimidating to do either," Fai pointed out logically.

Aido's entire body seemed to seize up momentarily as Deimos' fingers brushed the metal and the halo swiveled back, causing a rush of cold and pain to surge through her. She just barely managed to restrain herself from either letting go of Deimos or increasing her grip on the boy in her arms.

The pain passed and the cold ebbed momentarily after it'd begun, leaving her panting softly.

Teryl gave a short smile and moved away from him, as if sizing him up.. "I like you.. Logical, Adventurous.." She extended her hand to him. "Friends?"

Deimos watched Ai's sudden reaction and his eye grew sad. "Hurmel?" He asked in baby talk, but his voice was concerned. What was wrong with AI-Ai?

Fai arched an eyebrow at her again as she seemed to size him up, but an offer of friendship was not to be ignored lightly. With a warm smile he grasped her hand, "friends."

Aido caught the demon babe's concerned look and smiled, though it seemed a bit strained, "m'alright Deimos, don't worry."

To be continued...

Quote:
He had much better things to do than leave the house, but Shouhin but being a stubborn old goat today. Maybe he had been trapped up in his dojo for a bit too long, but he still have to practice every day. Then Sah pointed out that he wasn't really training no more than cutting himself cause his mind wasn't focused on what he was doing. Sighing heavily, the boy paused in mid step and looked down at his heavily bandaged hands, flexing his fingers slowly and carefully. They were healing as they should, but it was stiff to move them too much. Another sigh left him as he looked up at his big brother Mouu, who had decided to come along with him today. Noticing that he had stopped, he looked down at him, just waiting for him to speak up first. "Are you okay with coming with me?"

"Hmm? Oh sure! Tigg's asleep and we do gotta see if Yuhin's stationary came in or something. I don't mind coming out with you today, Jiro. How are you feeling?" He knew his kid brother was out of it with Khia moving away and everything, so the boy felt rather out of sorts. Khia was his best friend, after all, and though the boy had other friends, he just sseemed closer to Khia. Probably cause they were both violent or something, Mouu didn't know. He just thought they were amusing to watch. Pushing open the door to the shop, he let him wander in first. "We shoulda brought Luc along.. maybe he could have used an outing..."

"But he's gone out shopping with Kali.. there would be no point to it, ya know?" Snickering, he went and found a place to sit down and did so.

Silent walked the sidewalk quietly. It had been ages since she came to the shop. It didn't feel the same anymore. And surprisingly, Angelus wasn't on her arms like he normally would. Looking behind her, she watched the small Tale take his steps.

Angelus walked with a confidence, which was a definite change from the person he used to be. The scars are still evident on his neck, and the memories still fresh, but he learned to put that all behind him. It was time to move on. His blood tingled for an unknown reason. Jiro. He could feel the other tale. Ever since the exchange of blood, he wasn't the same.

Silent finally made it to the shop door and slowly opened it. Angelus followed suit.

"So this is the place?" Redish grey and gold eyes were fixed upon the back side of the Stationary Shop.

"Mhm."

"This is where you were BORN."

Bi-colored eyes shifted to her brother, "yes, mr. lava lamp incubator."

Fai grinned and poked at her gently, "I didn't mean anything by it," glancing around he blinked, "how do we get in?"

"Front door," Aido replied and stepped forward heading along the small alley like way that tracked around the shop to the main street. It felt so odd being here with her, now older, brother instead of her mother; though Chao had promised to meet them at the store later. It felt weird being there at all, there wasn't even a guarntee anyone would be there or that the shop would even be open....

Fai glanced to her and rolled his eyes, first she'd been all restless and ready to go, now it looked like his sister was having second thoughts, how silly, "you have your 'what if' face on Ai, stop worrying about nothing," grabbing onto her hand he quickly led them up the steps and pushed on the door, smiling triumphantly as it opened and the tell tale bell jangled softly as they entered.

Silent was about a foot away from the open door. Thank goodness it didn't hit her. She turned around to see who entered. Brown eyes blinked in confusion and then a smile came to her lips. Aido. " Long time no see."she told the other Tale.

Angelus also turned around to see who was here. He wasn't expecting Aido to come. Not at all. His own brown eyes looked up to his friend in awe. How long had it been since he saw her last? It was so long that he couldn't remember.

" Aido." He whispered her name. He said it clearly but quietly.

Aido's eyes caught Silent's for a moment before darting to the floor, where Angelus stood near his mother. Eyes suddenly bright she darted foward, dropped downwards and hugged her friend fiercely, "Angelus!"

Fai smiled, very pleased with the sudden change in his sister. Coming here had been such a good idea. Smiling to the woman he tilted his head, "hello there Miss," he greeted warmly.

Silent's mouth hung open and then closed. " Well. That was a decent hi. I guess." She chuckled. Her brown eyes went to the male. He didn't look very familiar. She offered her hand. " Hi. I'm Silent. And you are?" she inquired of the newcomer.

Angelus nearly lost any breath he could have used. His wings flapped incessantly.

"Aido... Can't... Breathe..." He hoped she would get the message. He really didn't want her to let go. He missed Aido soo much, but he needed air to talk to her.

"She's spent a little too much time inside I fear," Fai nodded solemnly, he'd said she needed to get out, what, over a week ago? Silly people, never listening to him. Turning back to Silent the redhead grinned, "my name's Fai, her," he gestured to Aido, "brother, it's nice to meet you miss Silent."

Aido blinked and promptly loosened her hold on her friend, slightly redcheeked, "sorry," she muttered, tugging on her scard in embarrasment before grinning at Angelus again, too excited at seeing her old friend to stay embarresed for long, "I just haven't see you in so long. I missed you."

Silent nodded in understanding. " Angelus hasn't had contact with anyone other than myself and his family at home. He needed to come back and by the looks of it, it was a wise choice." She could already tell that Angelus was warming back up to the old ways. Her brown eyes went back to the boy. " A brother? No offense, but Chao never mentioned you. I know her brother Rico, but not you." She didn't want to seem rude, but she was a little lost right now.

Angelus chuckled as she released her hold on him. Within a moment, he had her in a hug. It was only fair. " I missed you too." He didn't really use his telepathic abilities much. Every once in a while he did, but he slowly grew accustomed to talking verbally with others. He slowly let go and looked at Aido. " You're big." He chuckled as he took in the form of his friend.

Today was truly one of the best days of Smerdle's life. Sylvester wasn't sulky or running a fever, nor was he a Crazy Nutjob. Smerdle was so thankful, in fact, that when Sylvester suggested they go to the stationery store, she had agreed even though she had other things to do. Like shop. For food. Oh well, they would just have to get a pizza tonight.

Sylvester hopped along in front of his mother, oblivious to the fact that he had been a Crazy Nutjob at all. He felt great, Morry was being quiet for a change, and he was going to play. He arrived at the door and pushed it open slowly.

"Hey!" he said, without looking around first to see who was there.

Smerdle followed a few steps behind, catching the door when Sylvester dropped it. She waved a bit at the older people in the room before sliding over to a brightly colored shelf to look around.

Fai tilted his head and nodded slowly, he didn't think his mother had even been down to this shop in the time he'd been alive, "Oh yes, uncle Rico is Aemu's mom but I'm her son and, well, I'm something of a recent addition to our family really," he scratched the back of his head and vaguely hopes his mother would arrive soon, it felt weird having to explain his exsistence.

Aido smiled and buried her face in his hair as they hugged a second time, smiling at the warm feeling that unfolded in her chest as Angelus said he'd missed her.

As he let go she sat back on her heels and lokoed down at his comment of her growth, "yes, I suppose so," she looked down back to her friend, "but now that I'm bigger I've gotten to explore more on my own." She paused, "it's much more lonely, exploring on my own. I miss our explorations."

At the sudden greeting she looked up and over to the door and smiled to the newcomer, "hello there."

Silent nodded in understanding. " Around Gaia, one always has a recent addition to the family. Well it was a pleasure meeting you. Have you been around for a long while then?" she asked curiously. She nodded to the woman that stepped in briefly.

Angelus cocked his head to the side. " Explore on your own? We did that anyways with eachother." he chuckled. " It's no fun to explore on your own though." he sighed. He missed their adventures.

Black wings ruffled in curiosity as a newcomer stepped in. A Tale from the scent of it. Angelus' brown eyes scanned the newcomer and then he looked to Aido. " I don't know him." he whispered. Was he gone for soo long that there were more Tale's he didn't know about? Most likely. He watched in observation.

Fai shook his head, smiling when Silent didn't seem too weirded out at his recentness, "I haven't been around long at all, only...a little over a month I think."

"We should go exploring again sometime soon," Aido replied with a determined nod and an excited smile at the prospect before turning her bi-colored eyes back to Sylvester, "I don't either," she whispered quietly in return but dove into introductions anyway s her attention slipped back to the new Tale, "I'm Aido and this is Angelus, who're you?"

Eyes. On him. Sylvester had forgotten how weird they made him feel. He involuntarily shrank back a bit before stepping forward, which resulted in kind of a wacky shuffle.

"Hi, I'm Sylvester," he said quickly to the girl who had addressed him. He watched her for a second, or rather he watched the halo float above her head. Ooo. He couldn't exactly make out their whispering, but that hardly mattered. The girl, Aido, had said something about exploring!

"Have you been? Explorin' I mean. All the other kids I met here do too! I..." He had been about to launch into a story about the time he had spent with his new dream friends, but he had promised them he wouldn't. Plus, Mama was just right over there and Sylvester was sure that she would take him to the doctor again if he mentioned having dream friends at all. He scratched his neck and tried to look innocent, hoping they wouldn't ask about his own adventures.

Aido began to fidget slightly as the new Tale's, Sylvester's, gaze latched onto her halo, just like everyone seemed to the first time she met them. The circlet drooped momentarily before perking up again as Sylvester asked about exploring and even began to launch into his own story about his exploration.

Smiling as she followed along she tilted her head as he suddenly stopped but tried to pick up the conversation again, "it's nice to meet you Sylvester. I love to explore, espically since Gaia's so big and crisscrossed, it's like even if you explore someplace once there's new things if you go back a second time."

Angelus watched on as Sylvester, the animal like Tale, and Aido conversed about exploration. He stepped forward, tired of being the shy one. " Why don't explore upstairs?" he added in. He remembered the last time Aido and himself went upstairs. That was pretty fun. Memories of the backyard ruled out the Shop's garden as a different means of adventure.

He gave a slight bow to the Tale in greeting. " I'm Angelus". His wings raised up in the air and flapped. A black feather fell from the movement.

"That's so cool. I wish Mama would let me go all kinds of places like that."

He turned toward the winged Tale. Cool! "Yeah, let's go!"

"Be careful," Smerdle said distractedly as she continued to browse.

Sylvester nodded to no one in particular. "Can you fly?" he said to Angelus. He had never seen another Tale fly, though he assumed Tybalt probably could.

Angelus smiled and with a burst of his wings bolted through the air. He came back around in front of the Tale and hovered a few feet above him. " Would you like me to carry you or would you rather follow?" he asked the Tale. He used to hold Aido under her arms and fly with her, but that was when she was a kid like himself. Not anymore.

Sylvester's eyes widened considerably at Angelus' awesome flying capabilities. But, they scared him a bit too. "That is so cool," he breathed. "I... I don't think I want to fly though," he added. He hoped the other boy didn't think he was too much of a wuss. "So, what's upstairs?" he asked curiously.

Angelus smiled in understanding. His brown eyes went to the stairs that led to the second floor. " Last time I remembered we found some interesting rooms." Flying took little energy now. He had enough endurance to fly the whole time if need be. He looked back at the Tale. " You still want to go?"

"Yeah." Sylvester nodded and smiled. He glanced at his mother, looking to see if she was going to butt in, but she seemed preoccupied with the different kinds of paper. Grownups were weird. "Let's go."

Angelus nodded and easily flew up the flight of stairs. He effortlessly lowered himself on the top of the steps. He didn't want the other Tale to feel left out. Looking from left to right. He wondered which corridor they should go down. " Left or right?" he asked Sylvester.

Sylvester hopped up the steps after the flying Tale, excited to be on an adventure.

"Hmm. Left," he said. It looked slightly lighter, after all.

Angelus nodded and started his way down the left corridor. He walked slowly and cautiously. God knows what lay behind the many doors. As he walked, his fingers trailed along the wall. Lifting his nose into the air he sniffed to see what kind of scents lay before them. So many. But he couldn't make out what they were. He looked to Sylvester.

" You've never explored before?" It didn't seem right not to go exploring.

"Just around my house and yard a little," Sylvester said. "Mama's scared stuff'll happen if I'm alone other places and we don't live around other people." Even as Sylvester said this, he knew it wasn't true, but he couldn't think of why. Oh well.

Angelus listened to the Tale. "Silent lets me wander off on my own. We own a lot of land at home and plus the beasts of the land no better than to do anything to me or else they have to deal with my mommy. And they don't like an angry mommy." he commented. His eyes fell upon a cherry wood door. The knob was too high. He looked to Sylvester. He was taller than Angelus. Crouching on all fours Angelus looked to Sylvester.

" Climb on my back and open the door." He instructed the Tale. Angelus was curious to see what was behind the door.

"'Kay." He had never climbed on anyone's back before, but there was a first time for everything. Gripping the door frame, Sylvester rested the toes of his right foot gingerly on Angelus' back, careful not to step on his wings. He took a deep breath and hoisted himself up, turning the knob with ease. As he clumsily jumped off of Angelus' back, he accidentally pushed at the knob on the way down. The door creaked open wide enough for a kid-sized head to peek through.

((-kicks gaia for eating her post, saluts silent and jumps back in-))

Several yards behind the two Simple Tales the shadows quivered and Aido's head poked through, halo dim as her eyes swept over the dark hallway. Having lost the others in a moment of distraction she hoped they would be around here and smiled brightly as she caught sight of them.

The shadows twitched back into place as she pushed through the threshold, feet sliding onto the floor silently as she turned and quietly wandered down towards the others, looking over the doors they passed. For a moment she considered sliping back into the shadows and poking around on her own but-! No! Group exploration! That's what she'd missed. Focused again she quickly moved to crouch behind the two, watching what they were doing but keeping quiet, not wanting to mess up whatever concentration they might have needed.

Angelus nearly fell on his stomach from the weight but quickly scrambled to stand on his two feet. A scent in the air caught his attention. Looking behind him, he fell backward in shock causing the door to open all the way. Aido nearly scared him to death.

" Aido! You scared me.!" He said to his friend. Brown eyes went to Sylvester. " Are you okay? What do you see?" Three pairs of eyes looked into the newly discovered room.

"Sorry," Aido replied, grimancing, but glad that Angelus didn't seem hurt. She leant forward, "what's in there?"

"It's pretty dark," Sylvester said, after assuring himself that Angelus was okay. He was kind of scared of what was in there, but he didn't want the others getting hurt either. Definitely not. He inched inside, using the tip of his nose to flick on the lightswitch. He turned around slowly, back to the wall.

"Whoa."

The room was engrossed in light. " What the?" He couldn't believe it. What would a nursery be doing up here?

He looked to Sylvester and Aido as if they held the answers.

Aido blinked and sat back then shrugged casually, the nuresery made a bit of sense to her, "well, Linny and Khia both live or at least lived here at one point, right? Maybe it was their's, or Linny's sister's or someone's...."

"Yeah." He hadn't known Linny when he was small enough for a nursery, and he didn't know Khia at all, but Aido's idea seemed like a good one.

Since he was already inside the room, he walked in a bit further, half expecting something to pop out at him.

Angelus walked deeper into the room. A wooden rocker rested next to a wooden crib. It was simple. Not too extravagent. " Makes sense." In a corner Angelus found a couple of wooden blocks. He wondered what else the room had?

Aido stood and followed quietly, running a hand over the top of the wooden cribs, quietly remembering her old crin [and the many times she'd escaped from it] and idly wondered if her old friend had once slept here. Which reminded her...she still hadn't given him her gift.

Giving the crib one last look, and quietly vowing to either drop of Linny's gift or track down her friend and give it to him personally, she continued to wander about the room.

While everyone appeared and roamed about, Mouu had been looking for Linny. So far he wasn't seeing him and he frowned lightly as Jiro wandered about. While the boy was off looking bored and distracted elsewhere, Mouu watched him in concern. Lately, a lot of things had been happening to the boy.. Kali had told him about finding him on the roof with Khia.. supposedly Jiro had been carving symbols into his own legs using a chopstick.. why was unknown.. but Khia found him and helped him. Which was good.. but he's been more withdrawn and testy lately. Though Mouu didn't like to pry, he was half tempted to. As other Tales came in and then wandered elsewhere in the store, he blinked and looked at them heading upstairs. "Jiro.. aren't those your friends?"

"Hmmm?" Turning away from what he had been looking at, he noticed someone heading up the steps and he shrugged. They weren't his friends, he supposed. He didn't talk to anyone much on a normal basis but whatever. "I guess... why?" Seeing how Mouu seemed to get a bit too pleased, he feared as he came closer. He knew there was a reason to it! Sighing as he found himself getting pushed towards the stairs, he grumbled as he got the hint. "Fiiine >>" Though he didn't feel like it, he wandered up the steps, muttering how mean big brothers..

Sylvester had never really been small enough for a crib, but he was still small enough for toys. He approached a stripey jack-in-the-box and crouched near it, turning the handle quickly. When it popped open, an old-looking piece of paper popped out along with the required poofy clown head. Sylvester opened the folded paper only to find... nothing on it. How disappointing.

Angelus watched as Sylvester opened the Jack in the Box. He somewhat jumped in surprise but was glad no one else noticed. Looking around the room he found a small writing desk with a bookcase. Walking over, he climbed upon the chair and reached for any book within his reach.

" The Stinky Cheese man?" he said aloud. What kind of title was that for a book.

Blinking Aido wandered back towards Angelus, peering over his shoulder at the book, "'The Stinky Cheese Man', sounds very... odd," she concluded lamely, not sure how else to peg the book's title. Idly she looked over what else was on the table but nothing caught her eye.

With a shrug she wandered over towards the closet, peering inside, looking at the various older baby supplies that were kept inside.

Sylvester pocketed the blank piece of paper he had found as he stood and joined the other two Tales.

"Stinky Cheese Man?" He couldn't read English, but the picture on the front of the book was enough to make him laugh anyway. He heard a faint chuckle, but assumed it was Angelus or Aido.

Angelus didn't need to turn around to know who was in the room with them. He hadn't seen the other Tale in a long time. His own negative feelings about the Tale long since vanished after the incident. He wished to make amends one of these days but Jiro was stubborn. It might not happy today or tomorrow, but Angelus hoped soon enough. His head turned to look at the boy.

" Hello Jiro." There was no animosity behind the tone, but gratitude that the Tale joined the small exploration.

Aido did turn at the slight chuckle, blinking as she noticed that it belonged to Jiro before smiling tenatively, she never had figured out where exactly she stood with the other Tale, and waving a hand in greeting towards the other Tale.

"Hello Jiro," she greeted warmly.

Well.. there went that cover. Ah well, it wasn't anything bad. His eyes rested on the three there. Angelus, Aido and Sylvester. When it came to Angelus, his hatred and anger towards the other Tale had disappeared the longer he remained in his home. Actually he had no problem with him anymore.. but he was a stubborn mule and he wasn't exactly sure how to make the first step in showing that he wished to 'mend bridges' with him. Aido... before, he would have just ignored her. But he had spent a lot of time in self reflection and realized he had been rather babyish in his behavior towards her. It was in the past. It was done. It was over. Stop thinking about it and let it die.

Sylvester he didn't know all that well, but he did remember him from some part. Probably Huni's party. He had spoken to him about that odd thing called a TV, that he actually had to look up as soon as he got home. Allowing a smile, not a calculating, mean or cold but an actual smile, cross his lips, he pressed his hands together and bowed before them. It was his way of apologizing to Aido and Angelus and showing respect to all three of them. "Hello, Aido. Angelus. Sylvester. My big brother told me you three were here..." He then looked around. "Is this an exploring adventure or something?"

Oh hey, it was Jiro. He hadn't seen all that much of the other boy, but he did remember that he had felt a lot dumber than the older Tale. Sylvester nodded in response to his question and waved briefly in response to Jiro's bow.

"That it is." He responded to the question. His smile mirrored that of Jiro's. Hopping down from the chair, he walked towards him. He handed the book to Jiro. " Honestly. What do you make of this?" Angelus couldn't figure it, but Sylvester was right. It did have a funny picture on it. A gingerbread man, but made out of stinky cheese. Brown eyes looked to Aido and Sylvester.

" What do either of you think?" It was now the small mystery among the nursery room.

Aido smiled and her halo glowed softly at Jiro's reaction, feeling some of the nervous tension that had begun to build fall away. She nodded politely to his bow before glancing back to the book in question,

"I don't know. It seems a bit creepy though," she eyed the little cheese man on the cover warily. An animate little man made out of cheese was both bizarre and a bit frightening a prospect to her. What if people tried to eat him? Or he wanted revenge on them for eating his cheese comrades?

Looking down at the book curiously, he held it and turned it over, curious if there was anything on the back. After he found nothing to suggest anything, he turned it back to the front and studied the cover. "It's a rather strange sounding book.. could be about a demon or something like that." A gingerbread man made of stinky cheese? Was it a twisted nursery rhyme or something?

"Maybe we should read it or something?"

Walking cheese men meant one thing... magic. Magic was awesome.

"Yeah. Open it," he urged.

Angelus looked back at Sylvester. An idea came to the Tale's head and for some reason became overly excited. His brown eyes went back to the book. " I guess it won't hurt to read it. Aido, will you read it?" he asked the eldest of the group.

Aido pursed her lips, releasing the bit of shadow she'd quietly gathered from the fold of her long sleeved shirt back to where they came from, having been quite prepared attempt to strike any Stinky Cheese Men that decided to come out if one of the other Tales opened the book.

Glancing to Angelus she nodded a bit, "yeah, I'll read it," taking the book gingerly from him she opened it a bit more, making sure nothing was going to pop up and attempt to...well, eat them or something (she was never, ever agreeing to watch a horror film again if this was how it was going to make her think afterward.)

Glancing about she moved to a more open space and sat down, opening the book fully and glancing at the picture inside. She waited a moment for the other Tales to move closer then began to slowly read its contents.

He had no issues with handing the book over to Aido. It was best to let the eldest of them to read it aloud, though he was curious if anything would come out of it. If it did, he wanted to stab it with a chopstick to see what exactly it was. If it was real or just magic. Really good magic... Moving over with her as she found a place to sit down and knelt next to her, his robes shifting around him as he tried to look at it more closely. The words were weird to him. Probably English.. gah, he still couldn't read that well yet >>.

Sylvester gathered closer to the other Tales and peered at the book. He had never been too interested in reading himself, but being read to was all kinds of cool. He shifted so he wasn't sitting on his tail anymore and waited for Aido to begin.

Angelus also joined the half circle and sat close to Aido as well, making sure nothing would jump out. He let out a sigh of relief as only words appeared on the pages. Angelus sat back and listened the story that would soon come.

Aido took a deep breath and began, voice a bit weak but steadying and gaining a bit of confidence as she went on and stopped stumbling, she didn't exactly have a large amount of practise with reading aloud either after all. Rather early on a dark eyebrow rose as she read about the birth then adventures of the Stinky Cheese Man to their small group.

Several minutes of reading later she read about the Ogre who seemed not to care about the Stinky Cheese Man's stink and ate him anyway and finally stopped as the story ended, blinking and looking at the other Tales for reactions.

This story started off rather weird to him. About a piece of food that walked and talked? A bit disappointing to say the least, but the adventures were slightly amusing.. or maybe he was just morbid and horrid like that.

But then the story was over. Ah, that sucked. Aido had a nice reading voice too. With a slight wrinkle of his nose, he tilted his head a bit more. "Well.. it wasn't about demons or anything.. and it was kind of morbid.. but it wasn't anything bad..."

Smerdle had come looking for Sylvester several minutes before the story ended, having decided that pizza for dinner wasn't such a good idea after all. She found the children easily since Aido's voice carried down the hall, but Smerdle waited there until the story was done before stepping into the doorway.

Sylvester had enjoyed the story immensely, but in order to seem cooler, he nodded. "I wouldn't eat a cheese man," he mused as Smerdle came into his view.

"Hey kid, we've gotta go," Smerdle said.

"Aw, mama."

"Sorry," she said. "We can come back soon."

"Okay." Sylvester stood and waved again. "Nice to meet you guys," he said to Angelus and Aido. "Bye," he sighed, including Jiro this time, since he had met him before.

Angelus waved goodbye to the other Tale. Angelus scrunched his eyebrow's in wonderment. " The ogre ate him? Wouldn't the stinky man be too skinky for the ogre?" Angelus couldn't believe that such a rotten dairy product got away with so much stuff. He deserved to be eaten by the ogre. That was his philosophy. It was a tad morbid but entertaining none the less.

Aido waved to the departing Tale, "bye Sylvester, it was nice meeting you!" she called with a smile before turning back to their group and to the Cheese Man's story.

"Yeah... it wasn't bad. Though it'd be really weird if a cheese man actually came to life," she mused quietly, looking to the ceiling pensively at Angelus' statement, "well... maybe the ogre was even more stinky than the Stinky Cheese man and couldn't smell him over his own stench so just ate him and was done with it?"

"That would be rather strange indeed. But if one did appear, I would rather it be one that smells good so he can be eaten or something..." Waving goodbye to Sylvester and wishing they had more time to talk more, he scratched at his cheek rather lightly in thought. "Or maybe Ogres just aren't picky about eating things.. and he was starving and decided he was just something to eat."

Angelus nodded. " Either way, the stinky man was eaten and the adventure ended. But personally, I would never eat a stinky cheese man if I was starving. Blegh!" Angelus made a weird face at the prospect of eating stinky cheese. Thank goodness that he didn't rely on human food to live. It was nice to consume once in awhile, but it did himself nor Silent any good. He looked out towards the door. " Anyone else want to do something new?" The story was good but Angelus like to be active. He couldn't stay in one spot for too long.

"Maybe..." Aido murmured before perking up at the prospect of doing something new, "yes, let's do something new," she replied eagerly and stood, streching a bit before crouching back down, "what new thing should we do?"

Looking up at them as they talked about doing something new, he didn't have anything against that and he pushed himself up smoothly. "Sure, what can we do?" Looking around this room again, he tried to figure out what they could possibly do. "Are we going to continue looking around here?" Since he was late, he had no idea that they had pretty much only done that.

Angelus shook his head. " I recall claw marks along the walls down the other corridor. You remember Aido." That was from one of their first explorations. Back when she was a child. " How about we find out what made those marks?" he asked to the two.

Aido nodded lightly, "yeah, I remember those." She considered this for a moment, feeling something nudge at her memory before brushing it off, "yeah, that sounds good."

He had no ideas what they were speaking of but he thought it sounded interesting. "Claw markings? Then let's go find out who or what caused them then... it sounds like it'd be a fun mystery." Jiro actually looked rather eager to try out this adventure.

Angelus nodded his head and made his way out the door. He looked towards the opposite corridor. The marks were still there. Evident as before. He walked down the hall toward the markings. Bringing his hand up he felt the indentations in the wall. Lowering his noise he sniffed to see if any scent still stayed. Odd. He smelled almost familiar yet not. He couldn't put his finger on it.

Aido quietly followed Angelus down the hall, running her fingers along some of the higher claw marks, digging them gently into the grooves. The shadows laced gently around the digits, their whispers floating through the back of her mind as goosebumps rose along her writ and forearm, but all she got was a vague sense of familarity and old sort of feeling from them.

As expected, she could still do squat with tracking and the Shadows, wonderful. With a sigh she pressed the shadows back into the grroves, watching them flit back into place before she looked down to Angelus, "what do you think?"

He followed them quietly a bit, pausing when he saw the claw markings. For a moment his golden eye flickered red a bit before he reached out and touched them himself. Such deep claw marks... he couldn't have... but why? It didn't make any sense. For a moment, he felt a sense of worry before he pushed it back. No way.. he wouldn't think about it right now. Not til he spoke to him again. The smell he picked up was too strong, no matter how slight it was.

As his fingers dragged over the deep grooves, an odd onyx and ruby ring seemed to flicker and pulse on his left hand, middle finger. "Hmmm..." Though he could speak his mind on it, since neither had asked for his thoughts, he just kept quiet.

Angelus froze. He was feeling emotions. Emotions that weren't his own. He looked to Aido. It wasn't her. Realization struck. Jiro. He looked to the Tale. Something was wrong but he was being quiet about it. The transfussion. Feelings were felt. Angelus shook his head to rid himself of the emotion. "What the?" he whispered to himself. Confusion was evident. He looked to Aido, answering her question. " They seem familiar but I can't put my finger on it. They've been here for so long."

He looked to Jiro. " What do you think made these?" A gut feeling inside told Angelus that Jiro knew. The emotions that came from Tale didn't mean nothing.

Aido gave her friend a curiously concerned look as he froze and glanced to her, but didn't comment on it, instead she nodded, "that's what I felt too."

Her attention shifted to Jiro and she tilted her head, halo glowing softly, maybe Jiro got a different feeling from them? "yeah, Jiro, what're your thoughts on them?"

[You'll find your way back down.]

It was sometime in the late afternoon when Chao arrived home, back from a stroll through the streets, a bundle tucked carefully in her arms and a new umbrella up over her head.

The door shifted closed and she plopped down the umbrella to dry near the front door. Within a few moments she caught sight of a scarf hanging downwards from the ceiling and looked up.

"Ai, hey, not stuck are you?"

"No, just wanted to see who was here," the Tale said with a light smile, peering curiously at the bundle in her mother's arms. "Who's that?"

"Erm, grab Fai and I'll meet you two in the kitchen and explain, alright?"

With a curious tilt to her head Aido nodded and disappeared back into the Shadows and Chao briefly wondered when that had become so blatantly normal an occurrence within the house.

The teen made her way to the kitchen in a slight daze and sat down heavily in a chair, looking down at the bundle in her arms. One emerald eye peaked open to look at her before flitting closed again and the teen turned her attention to the steps nearing her.

Grey eyes so like her own blinked at her and she returned her twin's look with a helpless one of her own.

"Why do I attract glowing children?"

"Glowing...children?" Rico echoed quietly, tilting his head when Chao bent the tiny bundle in her arms towards Rico.

"Glowing children," the teen confirmed looking up as two pairs of closening steps signaled Aido and Fai's arrival. With a deep breath Chao stood and looked to her two wards considering, "Aido, Fai, well... erm... you have a little brother now it seems."

"Little brother?" Fai asked as Aido stepped forward, halo glowing warmly. At this the little firefly boy in Chao's arms twitched back to wakefulness to blink at the glowing girl. With a tiny gurgle he uncovered stomach lit up as two of his four arms reached up towards the glowing object.

Aido smiled gently and looked up to her mother, "can I hold him?"

"Sure," Chao replied and gently handed the Mishap to Aido who stepped back in order to show Fai, in reply the firefly boy peered at them both with keen emerald eyes, making a slight face as Fai ran a hand through his hair then grabbed the elder boy's finger when he went to move on.

Fai laughed and looked to his mother and uncle, "what's his name?"

A warmly smiling Chao looked to her sons and daughter, "oh, yes, Reid."

"Reid?"

"I like it," Aido murmured, grimacing as Reid took hold of a dangling strand of her hair and tugged, though the little boy's face turned apologetic when it didn't budge and she made a noise of discomfort. He instinctively didn't like that tone and wanted her to go back to the soft, light noise she'd been making before and expressed this all with a slightly urgent grumble.

Noticing that her family's eyes were still on her Aido elaborated, "like river reeds but not quite," Reid smiled and settled back, releasing his brother's finger to paw at Aido's scarf, "I just like it."

Smiling Chao slumped back in her seat, "that's good. I'm glad you like it. It means red-headed I think in...some... language. But it did remind me of river reeds. We'll have to drag out the old cradle and such I suppose and set them up in one of the extra rooms, Fai, Aido, would you mind doing that? I'm beat."

"No problem." "Sure Mu." Came the light chorus from the two and Aido handed the little boy back to Chao who waved lightly to her departing wards, listening as Fai began to ask his sister whether or not she thought snow was in order.

Rico laughed gently and slid into a chair besides his sister, "they took it well."

"Yeah, I'm sorta surprised."

"Really?"

"Yeah, the place I, erm, adopted Reid from said they have a Headquarters and that many of the guardians live there. Reid has a room there, already set up."

"Aha...."

"There is a point to this, really, just let me ramble, I'm too shell shocked to be coherent."

Rico nodded and chuckled lightly under his breath and allowed Reid to latch onto one of his fingers and explore his palm rather thoroughly, before seemingly losing interest and going to sleep.

"What I was thinking was, could you, or perhaps Dad, set up a portal between his closet here and his room there?"

"Like in Howl?"

"Well... yes. Alright, yes. It is like in Howl, but, just. Yes. Think it'd work?"

"Probably, need Dad's help though, he and mum," Chao grimaced, "oh, stop it Aeon." Rico snapped, causing Reid to make a face at the coarse tone, an expression neither of the teens noticed. "Anyway, they'll want to see Ai, and Fai and Reid instead of just pictures of them."

"I suppose..." with a yawn Chao got to her feet, "I'm going to go take a nap in my room, call me down for dinner?"

"No problem, sleep well."

With a nod and wave Chao headed up, keeping Reid close to her as she went to her room and promptly fell in bed for a nap, barely aware when Reid curled up against her, fully prepared to sleep until the sun finally went down. Although once the luminary set all bets were off until the rest of the night. Not that Chao was aware of that, having barely looked at Jabir's medical notes, let alone actually absorbed the sentence "full nocturnal habits."

[October 2nd, 2005]

[Enter and exit.]

Participants: Deimos, Aido, Reid, Jizzy, A very angry elder tree and and even angrier Jabir.

The sand crunched gently beneath the Tale's bare feet as Aido sat heavily on the side of the sandbox, watching her younger brother flit about, gentle glow illuminating the otherwise dark lighting the area was currently experiencing.

It was the middle of the night, some bizarre hour during which most would probably be asleep, but Aido was restlessly awake and had offered to take Reid, who was simply reveling in the night and working off the excess energy that came from a day or mostly sleeping, down into the seemingly open air of the Green Area while their mother caught up on some much needed sleep.

The firefly Mishap sat down in the center of the sandbox and looked around pensively, smiling as the sound of crickets chirping became louder now that he'd stopped moving. Somewhere off in the woods an owl hooted and Reid's glow brightened at the pleasant sound. Looking at his sister, who was humming under her breath he prompty attempted to imitate the hoot, though the sound came out rather differently than he'd intended it to, causing the babe to make a face. Aido merely chuckled and hooted back at him.

Though Deimos would never truly admitted, he relished in his mother's current illness. This meant she slept more, for longer and at night he could sneak out that much easier. Todya he planned to see the outside of the HQ by night and was making hsi was down to the gardens.

Now Deimos could see relatively well at night, so the glow in the distance seemed rather oddly placed to him. He gazed at it, and hissed as he identified it as a a halo.. It was instict. It took hima few seconds to realize who the halo belonged to.

"AI!"

Aido blinked and looked around at the sound her her name being called.

Reid, just as curious about the sudden new noises crawled over to his sister's legs and attempted to climb up them, only to be picked up halfway through as Aido stood, finally sighting Deimos.

With a grin the Tale waved her free hand towards the Mishap, "hey Dei!"

The demonic mishap rushed towards Aido, his cloak belowing behind him and his tail swishing, though it as more of a happy wag than anything else. "What Ai doing out late?" He asked and spotted Reid, wavving softly. "AI take care of little?"

"Dei!" Reid chirped in sudden recognition as the Mishap headed their way, so his sister and Dei did know eachother! He returned the older Mishap's wave with one of his own, glowing softly in pleasure as Aido placed him on the ground and gave Deimos a small hug.

"Didn't feel like sleeping," Aido explained, sitting on the ground so she was at level with the two mishaps. She nodded at Reid, "mhm, m'watching little," she smiled at that nickname, "while Aemu gets some sleep, what're you doing out by yourself?"

"'Sploring.." He replied giving AIdo a soft squeeze before parting. He wasn't the biggest fan of being hugged. "I go 'sploring when Mother sleeps." He said, patting the small Mishap on the head as a greeting. "Will Ai and Reid go 'sploring with me?"

"Sure," the Tale was always up for a bit of exploring. She looked to her baby brother who had just made a face at Deimos after being patted. "What do you think Reid?"

Reid gave her a curious look at that, not understanding with "sploring" was. He shrugged and crawled to where Aido's bag was and attempted to open it.

"I think that means yes..." Aido murmured and opened the bag for him. Reid grinned at his elder sibling and quickly plunged into the bag. A moment later he emerged with something firmly clasped in all of his hands so that no part of it peaked out.

"Dei-ar'n," he stated firmly, looking at Aido meaningfully.

"Oh!" Aido started and grinned at her brother, "I forgot we had him with us."

Reid lopsidedly crawled back to Deimos as Aido gently took one of Deimos' hands so Reid could place the object firmly within the older boy's grasp, keeping it hidden for as long as possible before he removed his own hands. Sitting in Deimos' hand was a small, plush devil-tailed doll.

"Reid got him for you, he's a wishing doll," Aido explained with a smile.

Deimos gazed at the small doll in his hand. Then look up at Reid and Aido. "Thanks.. Dei give present to Reid one day too. Equilent 'change.. k" He said and brought his tail around, slipping the doll onto it. "Does he have a name, like Zir?' He asked. He liked it when things had names...

"Mhm, his name is-"

"Ar'n!" Reid stated proudly and Aido nodded.

"Aeron," she translated smoothly.

((and, for those curious: Aeron=maculine form of Agrona who was the Goddess of war and death heart ))

Dei gave Aeron a gentle push so it swing softly on his tail. "Aeron almost as cool as Zir." He said, smirking at the pair. "Now come. We go to forest!" He said, pointing towards the forest over in the distance. During the picnic Jabir had prevented him from enetering it, which was a perfect reason to go inside.

If Aido had known that generally one was not supposed to go into the forest, more likely than not she would have steered their group in another direction. But the Tale had no idea of that rule and the forest merely looked like the one at home so she nodded and tried to pick up her younger brother.

Reid grumbled and quickly wriggled out of her grasp, he could move on his own after all, and headed towards the forest at a quick crawl.

With a shrug she followed, silently calling out to Rael who responded sleepily, letting her know he was nearby if anything should happen.

Deimos led the way into the dark forest, despite the fact the he was the only one who didn't cast light forth. He marched without fear into the towering trees. "You think there treasure here?" He said as he weaved in and out of trees.

"Maybe," Aido murmured, following Deimos closely, her halo glowing warmly, illuminating the area around them. Stooping down she finally got a firm hold on Reid who huffed but didn't wrestle out of her arms this time. Crawling was hard work, espically with so many huge trees about to go around.

Emerald eyes glanced about, taking advantage of Reid's new posistion to see deeper into the forest they were steadily making their way into.

Deimos was fearless to the forest, moving away branch and bramble in his path. "Well I find the treasure and be a pirate!" He said, swerving. The exit of the forest was nowhere in sight now..

Aido glanced over her shoulder, just a flicker of worry in her gaze when she saw that the exit was out of sight. It was fine to be this deep into the forest when she was by herself but she couldn't help but worry about what might happen. If they went in too much further she'd call Rael and get them all out of there.

"Piie?" Reid asked curiously, tasting the sound of the new word and wondering what it could mean.

"Pirate! I captain and I have big crew. I have Wy, Ai, Zir and Osso." He explained, before he tripped and fell face first over a very very large treebranch. He grumbled and got up, hissing at the gigantanourmous tree. The only tree he'd ever seen that was bigger was the one at Crossroads.

Reid was about to ask what a captain was when his attention was drawn up the sides of the huge tree. Besides him Aido gasped at the magnitude of it.

"Wow..." she breathed, she didn't think there was a tree in exsistance bigger than the Crossroads, but here it was.

Dei grumbled and knocked his small fist into the tree, causing a load of leaves rain down upon them, many getting stuck in Dei's hait, which only made him more upset. "Stupid tree.." He hissed and took one step forward before he flew upwards, now hanging upside by his foot from a vine.. Damn them smart trees..

Aido gasped and gripped onto Reid a little tighter, rushing forward, besides her Rael poked his head out of the ground, "Deimos! Are you alright?"

"Dei!" Reid called up in concern.

"Of course not ok. I UPSIDE-DOWN!!" Deimos shouted, flailing around with the tree, but the vine seemed to have an iron hard grip on his ankle. "LEMME GO, DUMB TREE" At this insult the vine lurched and the small wish doll fell from hsi tial to the floor. "Aeron!!!!"

In one fluid movement Aido had mounted Rael and the shadow had propelled them into the air, jumping from branch to branch towards Deimos.

The tiny wishing doll feel neatly into Reid's lap as Aido pushed herself up, off of Rael's back and onto one of the branches. Her insticts all focused on getting Deimos out of the trees grip before something awful could happen.

"Please don't hurt him," she called seemingly to the tree, hoping Deimos would stop calling the tree dumb, it couldn't be making it feel any kinder in regards to the Mishap in its grasp.

Rael bounded off the tree and quickly headed back to the bottom to leave Reid then come back for the Tale and the Mishap.

Seeing that he was heading away from the others Reid glared and attempted to jump off the Shadow like Aido had done, but instead found himself unable to move, tiny tendrils of Shadow were wrapped. With a indignant gasp her growled and attempted to wrestle his way out, letting out a sad little whine when he realized he couldn't escape.

Deimos flailed as the vine carried him up. 'Lemme go!!" He said and hen puled himself up and began tearing at the vine with his claws. At theis onslaught another vine dropped down and gripped Dei's other leg and swing him around. "AHHHH, LEMME GO!!" HE shouted.

The tree rumbled slightly, perhaps hissing even as it tossed Dei around like a rag doll.

Bending down Aido swung herself down, latching her legs around the tree branch and grabbing a bit of her own shadow. With a hiss the slippery tendril sharpened in her hand, becoming a crude, knifelike object. As the vine neared she grabbed it and cut just above where he hand held. "Grab hold of it Dei!" she called.

Reid was so frustrated he'd begun to bang his tiny fists against Rael's backside, babeling viscously. The Shadow, while not hurt from the onslaught, grumbled unhappily.

Deimos did, and soon he was dangling by the vine. The tree hissed in pain. Deimos looked down and gasped softly. "I just relaized I dun like heights..." He said, trying hard not to let fear in his voice but it showed.

"leave the demon with me..." The tree rumbled in almost a low growl. It talked too. 0-o

"I'm sorry if we've hurt you but I'm not leaving Deimos," the Tale placed stress on the name, "with you. Espically if you're going to hurt him." In typical Aido fashion she didn't seem to be at all surprised that the tree talked merely angry that it would try to hurt Deimos. Her legs slid a bit as Deimos's full weight was placed on the vein in her hands and quickly she began to haul him up.

"It'll be okay Dei, just hand on, 'kay?" she called soothingly.

Rael waited near the bottom, having decided that leaving the firefly Mishap by hisself would be a very bad decision indeed. Once Aido had Dei he would retrieve them and they would get out of here.

On Rael's back Reid had yet to cease his attempts to wrestle away from Rael.

"Give him to me!" The tree bellowed and shot a vine towards Deimos.

Dei's tail flicked it away angryly as he began to climb the shadow. "Go way, tree!" He shouted.

"I know it's Erebus! Give him to me and we shall rid the world of the demon!" The tree said angryly..

The tree had offically crossed its boundaries as far as Aido was concerned. The young Shadow Mancer, "no! He's Deimos now, not Erebus," she practicly snarled, the expression of fierce anger foreign on the normally content Tale's face. Her halo was bright and glaring as she lunged forward, finally grabbing Deimos' hand as it finally neared and she pulled them both up and onto the branch.

"And even if he was Erebus I wouldn't let you hurt him," she snapped.

As Aido finally grasped Deimos' hand Rael launched himself at the tree again and Reid instantly stopped his barrage when he saw they were heading back for the other two.

The tree roared. "He will destroy you all!" He said as his vines receded and the tree feel silent once more..

Deimos clung to Aido as Rael coem for them. "Will we jump?" He asked shakily.

Aido didn't even glance back at the tree as it roared, only barely glancing to the side as the vines shot back to their original posistions. She was a bundle of anxious, protective nerves, lean muscles coiled and tense.

At Deimos' question she glanced down and shifted him to a better posistion, "it won't be far, just hang on to me," she said, voice amazingly calm and soothing considereding she was ready to strike at just about anything that moved towards them from within the depths of the tree.

Rael bounded off several branches before finally getting just under them. Aido quickly jumped and landed on her Companion who then turned tail and headed back down the tree.

Reid shifted, looking concerned but happy the two were back and held out Aeron to Deimos.

Deimos took Aeron and held him close, hanging his off his tail once more. "Thank.." He said, clinging to Aido still. He felt a bit safer now that he was on Rael. He shifted uncortably. He was not made for the air..

It was only moments before they were on the ground, which they hit at a run. Soon Rael had propelled them out away from the enormous, angry tree. Behind the two Mishaps Aido was standing straight, halo bright to illuminate anything that could be coming, though one hand had wormed its way onto Deimos' head and was soothing down his hair while the other was holding onto Rael.

-Are you alright?- Rael asked, the question was adressed to both Mishap and Tale.

Reid nodded leaning against Aido's arm and facing forward on Rael again, letting out a small yawn.

Dei felt them land and he immediatly felt much better. He felt so helpless in the air. He sighed and gripped onto Rael's shadows tightly as he answered. "I fine now. Foot hurt little, but me strong." He said determinedly. He was a lot tougher on the ground.

"Did it get cut?" Aido asked worriedly, glancing at Deimos before going back to scanning the area until Rael privately told her to stop being so paranoid as they were nearly out of the forest.

Deimos shook his head. "It just.. hurt.." He said softly, not wishing to press on upon his weakness. He put his ankle near Rael and the cool feeling of the shadows made it feel a bit better, but not too much.

"DEIMOS! DEIMOS!" Cries were heard outside the forest.

Aido gave him a gentle one armed hug and Rael sped up beneath them.

Reid tilted his head at the slightly frantic calls of the older Mishap's name.

Deimos winced slightly at the calls of his name and he seemed to noticably shrink.

Jizzy was pacing nervously in the garden, chanting softly. She'd panicked so much, she didn't know where Deimos was. She'd resorted to magic, I mean, she'd already used it once, she might as well get back into practice...

"Eleka nahmen nahmen Ah tum ah tum eleka nahmen.."

She chanted and soon a whisp of white apperead by her side, she whispered to ti and it sped off into the forest, hovering by Deimos as it located him.

"Your 'Mu?" Aido asked, peering curiously at the wisp while threw a glare at it over his shoulder.

-You're not supposed to be out on your own, are you Deimos?- Rael asked.

Reid smiled and waved to the wisp.

Deimos shrunk some more and nodded. "Mother not happy.." He said softly. This was not good..

Jizzy peered at the forest where the wisp had flown in, but not seeing anythign yet, simply bounced on her heels in impatience.

The bright white wisp fluttered about Deimos head before coming over to Reid and tingling slightly as a return to the wave.

Aido grimaced, sighed and Rael slowed as they exited the forest at a slow trot.

Reid smiled at the wisp and leant out, attempting to touch it. What would it feel like?

Jizzy saw the glow of the wisp and rushed to the forest. 'Deimos. Oh gods, Deimos you had me so worried? Oh, hello Aido, Reid." She said before roundign on Deimos once more. "How do you think I felt waking up and you aren't anywhere?"

The wisp was warm, nice and wamr. It tingled, almost of it was giggling.

"Hello Ms. Jizzy," Aido murmured, raking a hand self-consciously through her hair, unsure of what to do. Of course Jizzy was worried, Aemu was worried when she didn't know where she was after all....

The firefly boy smiled at the warmth and glowed gently in pleasure before looking to Jizzy, frowning and whimpering at the harshness of her tone.

The wisp zoomed up close to Reid's fac eand 'landed' on his nose. It made a soft jingling noise to soothe the small child.

"I'm sorry Mother.." He said meekly, not feeling brave at once confronted with his mother. He might have been a demon, but as the saying went, hell hath no fury like a mother scorned.

Jizzy sighed. "Promise you'll at least leave a note next time.." SHe said softly and Dei nodded fervently.

Reid sniffled but calmed down as Jizzy's tone shifted and the tiny wisp landed on his nose, as it jingled at him he tilted his head, as if trying to puzzel out what it'd said.

Aido smiled slightly, feeling a sense of deja vu. She'd had many conversations with her mother like this one.

Jabir approached the small group by the woods with a pacing furry. His neck was fully risen and his eyes were burning brightly with anger. He found very difficult to keep his temper while he spoke

"I don't enjoy to be awaken in the middle of the nigth, specially to be told someone had been wandering off in the woods without permission!!!" he turned his gaze to Deimos
"Yes, I'm aware of your little adventure with the tree elder. The others (trees) told me everything" he snarled at him, showing his fangs (something that happened everytime he was in a bad mood)

"I will be seeing you in my office first thing tomorrow. Please accompany him there Jizzy" his voice smothered a bit as he turned to her
"As for you Aido" he looked at the Tale "I expect you to be fully aware of the house's bondaries next time"

"Now if you don't mind I'll go back to my sleep... if there's any left after this mess" he grumbled and went back to the house, still swishing his tail angrily

Deimos shrunk back, so low it was shocking. He had been shouted at by both Mother and Jabir and he felt terrible.

"Come on, Dei.. Nice to see you AI, Reid.." She said and picking up the child from off Rael's back.. Deimos was in so much trouble...

The wisp was being ignored byy Jizzy and dove into Reid's hair, hiding and tingling slightly.

Reid grimaced at Jabir's harsh tone, shrinking back against Deimos for a moment as the elder Mishap shouted. Finally he clasped two hands over his hands over his ears as Jabir's tone turned cold in an attempt to keep the sounds away from his ears, barely aware of the wisp as it ducked into his short hair.

Aido grimaced and hung her head, cheeks pink with shame. She hadn't know but, what was the saying? Ignorance cannot serve as a sheild or something of a similar nature.

"Yes sir," she murmured finally, glancing back up to watch Jabir leave before nodding to Jizzy. "I'm sorry I didn't keep them out of the forest, it looks so like the one at home, I didn't know there were bounderies..." she sighed and shook her head, she'd be more careful next time, what would have happened if Deimos or Reid had been really hurt under her watch?

"We should head back home, bye Ms. Jizzy and Dei," she said, drawing the still curled up Reid closer to her as Rael began to trot towards the doors that led out of the area.
