Loki mrrr'd a bit as Selia nuzzled her. A bit surprising, since the alphas in her birthpack would have naught to do with her. Soon, she smelled another scent to... Gaara. "Gaara." she breathed.. fur slightly on end. She stiffled a joyous yip and wag, realizing that Selia and Gaara didn't get on well. She whined a bit. "Selia, yes. I know him... he.. he is my friend."

Hige's attention shifted quickly. Gaara's scent was incredibly distant in his memory, but not estranged by a long shot. Loki had carried it for a few days after joining Hige and the pack.
Hige answered in tensed silence already standing to face the direction of the approaching wolf, wary as hell. Gaara had spent his pup hood with Feanaro in the older wolve's darker days. Who wouldn't be suspicious? Especially after the rumor that Fea told him... Gaara being partly responsible for a pup's death?
His hackles rose a bit, immistakable snarls coming forth. Gaara was coming unannounced after all.
"You guys stay back." He growled at the females.

She would lift her head, and move to her mate, noting that Loki had carried this demon's scent for a while...but she had thought they were rid of him. She growled, and allowed her fur to stand on it..or, at least her hackles and her scruff...making her look quite wicked to those who didn't know her.
He'd pant heavily, bolting up quickly upon the ground. Him, it was him, the wolf who had taken Loki from him and deserted him completely. He snarled at this, seeing the two alphas as well. He didn't care, he didn't care at all! The fit of rage from his childhood was beginning to return, and the pounding of his heart in his ears was deafening him to a point where he only heard his breath close by him...
"b*****d!" He snapped, nearly mauling the adult male to the groud in an attempt to get at his neck. He had forgotten everything, as if he had followed in the shadows of the pack forever and just now came out to get him. "You took her away!" He snarled furiously, trying to pin Hige onto his back as soon as possible..even though there were three other wolves around them.

Already tensed to start, Hige was fortunate enough to have that on his side, and he sure as hell wasn't about to go out that easily.
He snapped his teeth shut, baring his fangs fully in a snarl and bracing as soon as he realized Gaara was going to be upon him. He took the brunt of the attack and fell to the snow, but twisted under Gaara refusing to be pinned.
He didn't want to hurt Gaara, knowing that Loki cared about him, but he wasn't being left much choice. The idea that Gaara might go after her next, surged in his mind like the blow of a bear. "I didn't take her from anyone!" He snapped back, throwing his head around to snap viciously at any part of Gaara that might be vulnerable. He didn't intend to stay down though, either, already surging his weight forward and upwards to back his jaws with surprising speed for his size.
He didn't allow himself to clamp down on anything yet, hoping that Gaara would stop with just a warning. It didn't seem at all likely, though...

"You took her from me! She loved me, not you!" He growled and would thrash atop him, trying to dodge the attacks to his body while trying to pin him and get his neck or scruff. This adult was large and strong, as he had hoped he wouldn't be--he was soon caught with the wolf's jaws on his chest, a deep snarl escaping him as the gash dripped fresh blood. He hadn't been swift enough to dodge the attack..but it wasn't going to stop his rage and hate.
"She was mine! You should have seen that, why did you have to take her?!" He thought of Loki as the mother he had lost so long ago, a close friend and mother-like figure that he never did get to love and stay with. He slammed his front paws to hige's chest, hopefully winding him before he rolled off of him, and back onto his feet with a snarl.

"...." -s**t-. She had hoped a reunion would be a happy one.. her puppy.. her Gaara. She had wanted to stay with him forever, take him in and take care of him. Upon meeting him, she had felt.. well, motherly. She hated to leave him.. but she wouldn't stay with Fae, and Gaara wouldn't join her. She stood shaking, her body shivered as she watched in disbelief, not at all sure what to do at all.
"Please.." she whined. "STOP!!!" screaming, she would headbutt the first wolf she came in contact with, hoping to break it up, but that probably wouldn't work.. too bad it was too late to change her mind.

Hige was shocked, how could a pup have felt such resentment? Was it Feanaro's doing or had time festered the wound of Loki's absence in Gaara's young heart?
He was too stunned to protect himself from Gaara's second attack, and yelped with a violent exhale as the air was forced from his lungs.
Gaara didn't push the attack, and that's what saved Hige, undoubtably. He rolled painfully to his stomach and stood on shaken legs before regaining his composure. He ducked his head low instantly, keeping his neck from being exposed again. He glared at Gaara, prepared for another attack. Hige'd never felt so defensive and so angered before. Just why the hell did things have to happen like this all the time?? "Neither of us wanted to leave you behind!"
Hige knew that the defense sounded weak even as he said it. No matter how convicted he was as he said it, the words themselves probably wouldn't reach Gaara in his state. He continued anyway, still in a strong voice.
"I saw how Feanaro treated others." He growled. "I wasn't about to let what happened to Selia and Devvyl happen to Loki! NO chance in hell!!" He snarled to emphasize his point.
He had resented the fact that he had been unable to actually help his parents back then. True, Feanaro hadn't physically harmed Selia, but Loki wasn't Selia. Loki was a wolf that Feanaro had taken in along with a pup, both alone in the woods.
As a teen he certainly didn't trust Loki's fate with someone so fickle as Feanaro, even if he hadn't developed a solid opinion of the older male yet by then. Hige wasn't one to run chances like that with lives in the balance.
They had both had faith that Gaara would be strong enough to make his place with Fea. He was strong enough to let Loki go, and Hige had seen that as a surprising trait in someone so young. Maybe Gaara hadn't let go as well as it seemed? How would Hige have felt if someone had done this to him, taken Selia away from him?
His hackles were as high as they'd get, muscles tense. "I know that you were important to each other, that's why I wanted both of you to come, but it was your own actions that kept you from being al--!"
Loki's scent suddenly bombarded his nose, the only reason that Hige didn't retaliate. Instead he yelped in shock, staggering several steps to the side. She didn't manage to topple him, though. He whipped his head around to her forgetting Gaara's presence for just a second. ~Loki...?~ He stared at her at a loss for words...

"You wanted to be rid of me the minute you saw me," he snarled toward him wickedly, his fur standing on end now. Nothing came to him, even the cries of his former guardian. He would press his paws into the snow furiously, before moving to lunge at Hige once more, shoving his front legs against Hige's side to try and stagger him backwards once more, having seen Loki do the same, though this time it was with claws and not just a head.
He snarled and continued on his raged rant, his voice beginning to crackle as emotions overroad him. "You wanted to kill me, keep her for yourself...you wanted to abandon me as you did! No one came back for me, no one even cared!" By now, if he were human, he'd most likely be broken into tears, his chest heaving with unattainted breath, his chest aching in more ways than one. "Y-you just wanted to go away.." Was it the pup inside of him that was trying to calm him down? Or the blood loss from the gash across his chest?
Who knew, but he was calming down.

Hige growled, snarling as he staggered back from the second attack. Fur and blood fell to the snow as Gaara's blow did it's damage, His back was already suffering the wrath of Gaara's claws, a few scratches along his back and sides from Gaara's scramble. He was a slight bit dazed still from both. "I didn't want any of that..." Hige retorted, witnessing Gaara's slow breakdown. He tensed a bit, starting to understand. In Gaara's eyes Hige's crime was just as great as Devvyl's against Feanaro. It didn't matter that he hadn't been out to get the pup then, the wounds were still there regardless. It really was his doing. He should've insisted on Gaara coming along... He fell silent and let Gaara finish speaking first, provoking and interrupting him wouldn't do any good. What he needed was to understand. Hige kept quiet, hoping that Loki would speak up now...

Her eyes went wide upon realized she had connected with her mate. She hadn't wanted to hurt either of them, but she didn't know what to do...
"I'm sorry.." she spoke quickly, and whirled on her paws to face Gaara. Her voice rushed out like a strong river, surprising for one who had never been so articulate. "Gaara.. my Gaara. I wanted you to come along with me so badly. I never wished to leave you behind to fend for youself around that horrid wolf everyone knows as Faenaro. If I could have cared for you on my own, we would have left Faenaro on our own. Hige doesn't want you gone.. you did not come with me because you feared Selia would not let you into her pack!" she panted, standing between the two males, hoping her words were getting through to the one wolf she had thought of as her own child.

He trembled a bit, more like the small pup that he used to be instead of the furious fighter that had come to be...Feanaro had taught him a few things...Anger, hate, rage, and revenge. He had learned to fight and fend for himself, to care for no one but himself and his family...but what was in his family? Lexi was his love, his life. He had gotten her to come with him to Haku's pack, their home, their family still. But..Loki, she had been hard to let go. He could have followed, but he hadn't...Selia would have never let him. He noted that the female Alpha had retreated to her den to protect her children, whom he smelt quite easily...
He would shudder, and drop to sit on his rear. His head dropped, hiding his face as he turned away from them. "But he took you away.." He whispered, trying to keep his emotions from taking him over. Every time he spoke this rage filled his body, and he wanted to get Hige...the scary thing was that, even after Loki had left, he still thought of her as a mother...Hige was, technically, his father. He disrespected this father as much as he had his true father, who had killed his mother...
Both had taken his mother away, but Hige was different than Kazekage had been. Hige accepted him despite the hate and anger, and protected Loki with his life...his father never would have done that.

"He.. wanted to take us both away..." She realized now, how Gaara must feel. She would probably have done the same to anywolf that had taken someone she cared for deeply away. She gave Hige a reassuring lick before moving closer to Gaara. Sitting in front of him, set her chin atop his head showing the same trust in him that she had when he was just a pup. "You've grown well." she whispered, quite proud that he had made it this far.
She wasn't brushing Hige off.. or trying to sate the "beast" that was Gaara. She damn sure wasn't taking sides. From the smell of it, Hige did not need her immediatly.. but Gaara was slowely losing strength from the wound in his chest. "I'm proud of you for leaving him." she said, refering to Faenaro. "He was here bothering us just yesterday, it seems... talking some insane nonsense about taming man-pups. Keeping them as pets." she scoffed a bit, but kept her head atop his.

He stared downward as she rested her head atop his own, staring aimlessly while she spoke to him. No, he would not attack her. He never would, and surely wasn't going to hurt his Mother of sorts. He felt like curling up between her front legs and just laying there, as he had used to...to go to the river and fish for them again, and play in the sand and snow...but, he knew he couldn't. He frowned, and would whimper a bit. The great, hearless, furious Gaara had dropped his rage, for now, and pressed closer to her...he wanted the comfort he could never truly have..he didn't want to lose her again.
Yet he somehow knew he would.

She sighed a bit. And they were leaving... to the ocean. She'd have to tell him, maybe he could go with them.. Hige wouldn't mind, she was sure of it.. she hoped not anyway. Gaara smelled of other wolves, and human. Puzzling as it was, she brushed it off.
"Have you found a pack, Dearest?" she spoke softly and lovingly, almost hoping he hadn't.. if he hadn't, he could come with her and be with her again. But on the other hand.. he needed a stable pack environment, not one that was just starting out and slightly unsure of itself.

No, at the moment Hige was more concerned about her making amends with Gaara than with him. It was his fault that she and the pup hadn't gotten a proper goodbye, but he wouldn't say that aloud right now.
Also, no Hige wouldn't mind. Now that he understood the reason for Gaara's rage he didn't consider him such a danger. It's always easier to judge someone's next move if you know their motives, rather than if their intentions remained unseen. It wasn't that he thought that his problems with Gaara were over by far, but he knew that Gaara was loyal to Loki, and at the moment that was all that Hige was worried about.
That, and what might become of the two leggers, if Gaara would get along with them, and if Loki would for that matter.
He kept silent, even at Loki's gesture, watching the two while letting reality kick back in. Now that the rush of the fight was fading out, the pain of his injuries was fading in. His side and back and chest ached, nothing life threatening or unberable though. He opted to remain standing. He was both surprised and relieved that Devvyl hadn't jumped in- as he had every right to with this wolf invading their lands more or less. It would have been catastrophic.
