::Myyth walks in to the hatching grounds looking somewhat apprehensive about the whole business. She's not really sure about this, but she heard that candidates are welcome to see the eggs, so here she was.
Myyth lifted up the edge of her robe, so it wouldn't drag through the sand, and then she walked out to where the eggs lay in the sand. Remembering the warning form another candidate about how protective the queen was Myyth stopped a good dozen feet away from the eggs. Counting she could see about 9 from where she stood, but she thought there were a few more out of sight. The rider who had brought her to the weyr had said their were 12, but not all were likely to hatch.
She stood there looking at the eggs for a few minutes before sitting down in the sand to observe them. Maybe she could seem them moving a bit, they were near to the hatching after all.
Myyth almost immediately chided herself for that thought. And if they did start to hatch right in front of you? What would you do then? Pondering that thought, Myyth looked about the hatching sands area. She'd heard that the queen's rider even slept here but she didn't see her after a quick glance around.
Still sitting in the warm sand Myyth thought about the the eggs themselves. There wasn't a queen in this clutch, but there were still a few large golden tan eggs, bronzes she thought. Having heard about all the responsibilities that a queen rider had Myyth was wasn't overly bothered by the lack of queen eggs. She had always thought that greens were more suited to her. Since she was about 5'2 the chances of the dragon not being taller than her were about nil. I should look around, maybe someone has flit eggs she thought dryly before shifting her weight a bit.::

Ray watches Feather deal with her pair. Wrath and Isskio had advised well when they reccomended those two eggs, the bronze and brown seemed to be a good pair, and Feather handled them beautifully. She repressed another chuckle at K'makin's inability to handle a baby Blue.
Another Candidate made her way onto the Sands. Duty, duty. Ray gets up and heads toward her for an official greeting type thing. As she walks, Isskio lands on her shoulder and nibbles her ear, making a self-satisfied noise.
Good Hatch.

::Myyth looks up to see a woman walking towrd her. I should know who that is.... Then the name comes to her, could it be the queen rider?
Standing up quickly Myyth attemps to dust the warm sand off herself, her mind whirling with a thousand things. What if she doesn't like me? Could I still impress? Does the rider even affect the impressions?
Myyth shakes herself quickly and manages dust off most of the sand. She also manges to straighten her robe, only a moments before Ray gets to her.::

"Hello, I'm Ray," Rayi says cheerfully, trying very hard not to sound like an idiot. "Welcome to Benden. That over there is Wrath," she gestures at the large Queen, who nods gravely, "and this here is Isskio." The gold flit made a peeping sound. "Where are you from?"

::Myyth swallows before anwering, determined not to say anything that could hurt her impression.::
"I'm Myyth, I got in yesterday from Ruatha Hold. Wrath is beautiful, she looks happy."
::She quickly began to think about what to say next::
" I heard that the eggs are due to hatch soon. Will all of them hatch?"

"Ruatha? That's some good blood there," Ray comments idly as Wrath preens at the compliment.
She makes a face at the next question. "Wrath won't tell me if they will all hatch. I can't pry it out of her, but I think she is a bit worried about the smallest ones. She's been taking extra care with them, so I think the hatchlings inside aren't stillborn or malformed, or she'd have pushed them off to the edges of the grounds." Ray glances over at the clutch.
"In a way, it makes me glad that the dragons seem to have a different understanding of memory."

::Myyth nods thoughtfully before replying. She thought back to that boy she'd been speaking to that morning::
"So Wrath knows things about the eggs, even before they hatch? Do you know what kind of dragons are likely to hatch?, I know queen eggs would be the biggest, but past that can you tell tham apart?
::She watches carefully wondering about who else is going to be a the impression, and how many dragons would even hatch.::

Ray nods. "She told me a few days ago, that she talks to them while they're in the eggs. She probably knows what colors they are, but that's another thing she isn't telling me. Says that 'surprises are healthy.'" Ray snorts.
"I'm guessing there will be mostly Greens and Browns in this clutch, with maybe a Bronze or two, and several Blues. I know of a few brown-queen pairings in fire lizards, and for the most part, there were no Queen eggs, few bronzes, with lots of greens, browns, and blues."

"Surprises are healthy? Somehow my Mom never agreed with that. Although I think there is a signinicant diffrence between a dragon hatching and finding a dead tunnel snake (not the right name) on her bed."
::Myyth smiles as she remember the incedent, and then winces a bit as she remeber the after effects::
"Somehow my best friend thought it would be really funny, But it ended diffrently then we'ed hoped."

Ray chuckles. "Now that would be an unpleasant surprise. But better a dead one than a live one, right? But yeah, such schemes always sound like such a good idea in the planning stages, we always forgot the consequences."

::Shrugs:: "Funny how things work out, isn't it?"

Ray shrugs as well. "Life is like that. In fact, when I Impressed Wrath, she came out of the Queen egg, but was as green as leaves, she just had some gold markings along her spine. Up until it was time for Firestone training, I thought she was just a very large Green. When she started getting proddy though, her color evened out a bit, so now she's sorta bronzy. If you get up close though, the bright gold markings are still there, they just have a bit more camoflage."
I am not bronzy. Wrath sounded indignant.
Well, dearie, next time you see Faramith, compare colors. Bronzes are a bit darker than you, having some brownish in their coloring, whereas you are green-tinted-gold, but you still look bronzy.
Wrath made another indignant sound, but settled.
((gotta run for now, be back later, hopefully...))

((Alright see ya))
::Jumps back a bit when the dragon growels but notices Ray seem calm so she holds her ground::
"Life seems to work out, even if its never in a way you'd expect. ::Looks over at the dragon:: I think she looks lovely, I've only seen one other queen but Wrath is the prettier of the two. The dark coloring becomes her."

Kya notices the two girls talking and decides to intrude, being the rude person he is. Nimakio is sleeping in the crook of his arm, his little blue stomach so large it's a wonder it hasn't burst.
"Hello, are you one of the candidates? I'm K'makin, Nakoreth's rider." He hopes Nimakio hasn't ruined his good looks too much.

((back!))
Ray rolls her eyes at K'makin, then turns back to the girl. "Don't mind him, he's got something of an ego since his brown fathered these eggs. Nakoreth, for all he is a sweetie, pulled a dirty trick." She sighs. "Kya, this is ... uh... Did I catch your name?"
