"Hey, its okay, I just figured I'd mention it. Wouldn't want you getting any sicker than you already are." He moved to sit down near Alys' tree but still close enough to listen to the songs and stories coming from the folks near the fire. Alex pulled his hands from his pockets, and looked to Alys as she found the rum.
"Sure, I guess it wouldn't hurt me to have some." He reached over to take the offered bottle in his hand, making sure it wasn't going to slip before taking a sip of the liquid. He winced just a bit. "Uh... usually when I drink, its mixed with some coke, but this isn't so bad. Yeah."
Alex held the bottle back up to her. "Hope I didn't take you by suprise earlier. You looked a bit taken aback." It probably wasn't that suprising, considering.

"I don't usually drink rum, but it's the only thing I managed to find in a quick glance," she had another sip, closing an eye a moment. She wodnered how pirates could drink the stuff on a daily basis. They mustn't have had properly functioning tastebuds.
She shook her head slightly, "No, not really. I just didn't think I'd see you tonight..." Let alone seeing him changed, she gave a meek shrug, "But it turned out to be a nice surprise, either way."
She smiled.

Some rum and cokes probably would have gone down a bit easier than straight rum, but he did nod some, chuckling. "Its quite alright. Its better than nothing to drink."
"A nice suprise?" He chuckled a bit and shook his head some. "Were you drinking before I ran into you, because I don't think the sparce 'feathered' look thats going on with my hair would qualify as that nice." He couldn't help but run his hand through his hair and growing feathers, chuckling softly. "Guess I should be glad you don't think it looks too bad though. Thanks."

Alys laughed, "I wasn't drinking, No. And I don't think you'll be able to style your hair for much longer..." She chuckled, another sip, and she offered the bottle again.
"I think it looks kinda neat, though," she declared, nodding. It looked better than slimey, shiny, tentacles at any rate. Another drag from the cancer-stick finished it, and she took aim, flicking it into the bonfire.

He took the bottle back and took a slow sip of it. Alex chuckled softly and shook his head, "Yeah... you're probably right. Although, I don't think the word you're looking for is 'neat'." Alex took another sip of the stuff and winced a bit.
"Ok, remind me to bring cokes to the next shendig. Drinking rum straight is a bit much." Yeah, it was probably better to talk about the drink, than his change, since he wasn't exactly looking forward to what lay in store for him, although he doubted many of the others at the bonfire get together did either.

"Hehe, it's not that bad for straight rum... I think a few more sips will just kill off the tastebuds and it won't matter," She stuck her tongue out at him.
"We be pirates, and such like," she cocked a brow, "With rum that probably tastes just as bad," She slid down the trunk of the tree, and sat on the ground, watching the fire burn. She could hear the others around, telling stories, playing a guitar and singing.
They were making the most of life on the island, good for them.

(Sorry It took me so long to reply. Different time zones are to blame. lol.)
Casey looked around, pleased with the response. “Sorry? What on earth for?” Casey grinned up at the old man. “Dunno. Just felt… inspired.” "You've got pretty toes, I'd show you mine but well... Truth be told, I haven't seen them in years." Casey looked down at her bare-toes with a odd look. She cocked an eyebrow in curiosity. Before she could reply to this odd statement, though, the story teller approached her. "Would ya happen to know an old military song by the name of 'o'ver th' Hills'? I do so love that old song, an' if ya could play th' melody for me, I'd be happy to share it with all ye" Casey shrugged. “I’m sorry… But if you could hum a few lines I might be able to follow…” She picked up the guitar, tuning it to the pitches he provided and she slowly improvised the accompaniment. She followed the rise and sweep of his chords, and she even attempted to sing along.

Alex chuckled a bit and sipped a bit more of the rum before handing it back to Alys. "We're pirates now? I don't think pirates normally have tentacles or feathers or scales. Wait... that reminds me of a movie I heard about. Uh, whatever. But don't think I'm gunna be the parrot in this crew..." He chuckled and leaned back, listening to the music and watching the fire burn happily.
Even if the rum wasn't the greatest, at least it help make sure that the pilot wasn't so worried about what might happen later on, or even worried about the here and now. Life seemed ok.

Alys took the bottle, and had a rather large sip. She made a slight face and breathed out, licking her lips. She gave a short laugh at Alex's comments, her head falling back and hitting the tree.
"Ouch!" She hissed, tentacles wriggling as she rubbed the back of her head, but then she couldn't help but chuckle at her own clumsiness.

Alex looked over towards the 'ouch' comment, and then chuckled at her misfortune. "Take it easy there, or you're gunna get yourself hurt." He chuckled a bit and tapped her nose with his altered fingers. "Ok, hand over the rum, before you do hurt yourself. You can have it back when you're not falling down."
He chuckled a bit, as he looked back towards the fire and then back to Alys.

She giggled as he tapped her nose again, looking at him with a quirked brow and a playful grin on her face.
"How can I fall down when I'm already on the gorund?" She stuck her tongue out at him, and had another semi-large sip, before handing him the bottle, "You can have it on the condition that you drink some more," she nodded.

Malic stood listening to the end of the story. Many of the people here had started their changes, especially the storyteller himself who looked halfway already and looked to become some sort of armadillo. Once the story was completed, the man pulled his eyes away from the odd creature and looked at the dim faces lit by the flames.
Someone caught his eye and motioned him to sit, Malic grinned back and temporally stopped shuffling until he had folded himself on the log. His hands were held a foot away from each other and flicked the deck into the other without dropping one, a feat that had taken a while to master. He was fidgeting, not from boredom, but from nervousness, his fate displayed on the features of a lot of people here.

Alex just chuckled as he took the rum from her and shook his head, before downing a bit of the drink. "Really Alys, you keep this up and people will say you drink like a fish, or at least as much as that other octopus guy around the island. And you wouldn't want that, now would you?", he says, snickering.
"You should be responsible, or an octopus. One of the two. At least." He chuckled and looked back at the fire, then slowly let his attention turn towards the sky, leaning back further as he did. "Well, I guess things are going well... considering..."

Warren was only half listening to the others around him, picking up a couple sticks and tossing them into the bonfire, his tail flicking at the sound of the snaps, crackles and pops of the fire. His attention was taken to Alex and Alys when his pointed ears caught the noise of Alys falling back and hitting the tree, Warren looked in their direction, watching them, Finally speaking up after hearing Alex, his voice rather relaxed and calm.
"Going Well? I wouldn't say that when we have to worry about getting attacked by some of the more predatory residents lurking around here, wondering if Moreau,or Sabin are going to get mad and screw with you, not to mention they're injecting us with this funky s**t and turning us into..."
Warren sighed and stopped there, not wanting to say the rest aloud, and silently cursing himself at that moment for bringing up the subject of Moreau's experiments on them all, probably ruining the mood of the moment.

The squid-woman giggled at Alex, poking his knee and leaning against the tree, tentacles fidgeting inside her pocket for her cigarettes. Drinking had a tendancy to make her smoke more.
Alys's attention was shifted to the man who joined in the conversation... He seemed, bitter. To say the least. But, she was already slightly more than tipsy so she wasn't too overly bothered by it.
"It's going as well as can be expected," She replied, tilting her head to the side slightly.
"Yaknow, you shouldn't dwell on it... I mean, yeah it's shitty and it sucks, and I'll never get to perform another autopsy again, and he won't fly a plane again, and you... won't... uh... Who are you?" She blinked. And then giggled again, "Sorry, I guess we haven't met."
Her hand rose to offer a shake, dark red velvety skin, with sucker-cups... her arm may as well have been a tentacle. Another tentacle had risen as if to mimick the arm.
"Name's Alys Wilson. And I think it could have been worse for you," She gave a wink. Ahh, Rum was fun.
