For old times sake...
This is a poem I wrote for an assignment at school last year, so it's a bit more recent...
There was no assigned topic, we just had to personally write a poem to turn in. ^^
As ThemPlodding onward
As they
Forget which direction to take
And forget
Why they left in the first place.
Pondering
Slowly
What to do now
Since they don't recognize those who've been around
All these years.
God, please don't let me grow old as them.
As they have gotten on, they've forgotten.
How sad it was for them
Looking at their grandparents
With heartbreak hidden in their eyes
As they see the heroes of childhood
-----Slipping away...Me, already looking back, wishing
That the years would peal back off their sagging faces
As we all start to notice
The diminishing brightness
The heart-wrenching frailness
of their precious lives.
And this is only the beginning
of the end.
