It was a completely alien feeling to the poor man, as the lady Dune and the mechanism carried him into the air. His heart seemed to leap into his throat, and his blood drained completely into his legs. Even after the woman stopped, he found himself quite unable to focus. Everything felt strange, and his eyes glanced down. Immediately he was punished for it, his head feeling woozy as the saw the ground below. His head reeled on his shoulders, and in a moment of fear, he clung to Dune, rather than the cliff.

The woman wasn't mipressed but really she should have been prepared for this and with a patient sigh, she grimaced with the effort of carrying both herself and Roger onto the ridge once more.

Her expression beneath her mask would have been one of pain as she tightened her grasp upon the crossbow and closed her eyes, jaw tightening as she forced her own already protesting limbs to move against their will - if she didn't move now then she wouldn't be able to regardless of whether she wanted to or not.

"Afraid of heights I assume." She snarled, wincing as she felt the blisters forming beneath her gloves and with another pull and a brief hiss of effort she dragged herself over the ridge just enough to throw Roger off her and onto the safe and flat surface that she had sought for herself. Still, the strength she had used to push him over the edge now spent, she found herself losing her grasp upon the crossbow and with a quiet gasp of realisation she herself, slipped from the safety of the ridge and began to plummet downwards once more.

She was only human, she had no godly strengths...

Roger calmed down, even as he was chucked over the cliff... However that calm only remained for the briefest of moments. He turned, smiling a little, and prepared to explain and appologize to Dune. His words stuck in the back of his throat however. She wasn't there...

Quickly he crawled over to the edge, peeking down, seeing her falling. He reached out toward her in vain, a pure reflex that he couldn't contain. He could feel a darkness welling up inside of him as he saw her fall, and he looked away, unable to watch the impact.

"Sweet merciful gods..." She murmured as she hurtled towards the ground, her gloved hands diving into the pockets of her coat. Within moments she had withdrawn the peculiar cards with the oddest of images upon them and canting her head to the side in mid-air she took a breath and hurled them downwards towards the ground, releasing an incomprehensible sentence as she did so and closed her eyes.

From above, the result of this would have looked like a giant explosion of light, the giant pillar descending into the forests where the girl had apparently vanished to and then it appeared to die away. Strangely enough however, there were no indications that anything had actually impacted the ground - as if the peculiar rogue had simply vanished from existance...

"Dune..." the man whispered, sniffling slightly as he pushed away from the cliff edge. He was feeling sick now from looking over the edge, his blood rushing to his head.

Slowly he rolled onto his back, staring up at the trees above him, still sniffing, his hand reached up, wiping away at his eyes.

"If you suffer from vertigo, perhaps you should warn me in future." The voice murmured darkly as the rogue rested her left arm against the cliff wall and placed the majority of her weight upon her left leg, her right left bent out slightly as if she were mid-step, "And if you are going to be around me much longer then it would be advisable to get a backbone." She added as she glanced down at the smouldering and completely unrecognisable cards within her right hand.

She didn't seem to be any worse for ware with the exception of the blisters forming upon her hands and a few scratches upon her mask - which she would no doubt have to have fixed alongside the cards which would need to be recharged by a mage - for that she would just visit her companions again.

"Ready to continue?"

The man startled as he heard Dune's voice, sitting up, and looking around. His eyes nearly fell out when he saw her, nonetheworse for wear it seemed. He was sputtering near incomprehensibly, a long chain of half formed and jumbled thoughts and words.

Eventually he managed to at least settle on a single thought, and a few words, "Um... what... how... I mean... you... I thought... I thought... well... I thought you dead..."

The woman gave a snort as she lifted the silver sigil from where it hung upon the jagged rocks before tugging the bolt from the cliff rudge slightly above them - it seemed that she had been thinking of a similar fate for herself and after a few moments in which time she slipped the crossbow back into her belt, she offered her hand to help him up.

"I thought I was dead to - but it seems having friends in high places has it's uses." She murmured softly, raising the smouldering cards slightly as if to emphasize her point despite the fact that they no longer pulsed with the magic they had done previously.

"Now let's get back to Durem; I now have quite a few things to do."

Roger tugged on her hand, using her standing position as leverage to help him stand up on slightly shaky legs. He was still shocked over the current events, after all, and cheating death, was just the cherry on top of the day.

He smiled wanely at her, as he tried to recompose himself, well, at least as much as he ever did. He nodded slowly to her though, and waited for her to lead the way. Sure, he could do it himself, but well, she was odd and seemed to like odd things.

Satisfied with his reply, she made her way through the forest once more and soon uncovered her brutal footsteps from before - she was a little bemused by this and proceeded to follow them back the way she had came with her hands still clasping to the cards in the process; yet as she began to approach the edge of the forest she couldn't help but grin beneath her mask for she could see the looming figure ahead of her and was rather happy to know that her mount had decided to wait for her.

"Sweet Majoram!" She chirped at last as she dived out of the trees and towards the giant equine that appeared to be a Ninau, her hand clasping his mane lightly as she gave him a hug (much to his apparent amusement) as he returned it with a nudge of his own.

Roger was suffice the say, quite shocked by the apparent show of affection and normalcy the woman was putting on. He stepped off to the side, and leaned up against an aldur tree, watching horse and woman. He said nothing, but he did smile, and seemed to be surpressing a laugh.

Greetings now made, the rogue promptly leapt onto the broad back of the ninau and cast her gaze upon Roger expectantly - he now had one of two choices that he could take in relation to travelling to Durem: He could walk and spend ages wandering along the roads with blistered feet or he could hitch a ride on the ninau who would be steady, fast and an effective mode of transport in comparison to walking; it was entirely up to him.

Regardless, after a few moments Dune did adjust her positioning upon her mount to make herself comfortable and despite her gaze being fixed upon Roger, mentally she was backtracking and contemplating the best route to take in relation to the journey to Durem...

Roger approached a little hesitantly, distrustful of the beast. He had seen horses kick in the heads of men, and he vividly remembered the effect of such a kick. Just one look at the beast, and he had no doubt in his mind, that such a beast could easily drop him with such a kick.

His eyes drifted up to Dune, and his voice stammered out, "Is it... um... safe?"

"As safe as I am." The rogue responded as she leant down, grasped his arm and threw him up onto the back of the Ninau, planting her heels into the beasts sides as the mount gave a slight snort and darted across the plains in the specified direction - usually he would not have given any such rides but considering how attached he was to his rogue-friend he supposed he would grant her little tag along at least one free ride.

Nevertheless, as his speed increased and he started out on the long journey towards Durem, he could only give a mental chuckle as his companion released a whoop of joy and clung to his mane with one hand - her other holding Roger in place until he recovered from the initial shock of such sudden movement.

As soon as Roger was dumped into the seat, and the mount started to move, he found himself clinging to the rogue. Each bump seemed to jostle every bone in his body, jarring the man, and hurting more than a little. His hands were clinging tightly to Dune's waist as he held on tight, his eyes shut tight.

"Tell me... when... it's over..."
