Alec smirked as he watched Marshall struggle with the insects, having been dulled to their effects by their inability to pierce most of his rough skin. "Ye, an' yanno.... we're beside a riveh." Chuffing a laugh the teen gestured in the direction of the water source after recalling that the annoying bugs like him, stayed close to water.

As usual, he felt a pang of regret as Marshall rose to leave, wishing he could follow and be rid of that place for good. Although he'd made it much more liveable compared to his last adventures in the wild, it still bothered him to hunt and feed himself, keep from the rain and hope to evade any predators. The shark-headed youngster was still muchly human and he planned to act like one as long as he could.

"Uh... neh." He tried to formulate some fake reasoning but decided he'd just remain ambiguous. "A' c'nt righ' now bu' a'll see ye soon." With a confident smile, he convinced himself he'd be forgiven in the near future and allowed back into 'society'.

Marshall sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. He knew there was SOME thing up with Alec living out here. I mean, sure, it was his prerogative to live out here...Right? Still, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was doing some thing bad by leaving the poor shark boy all alone.

"Well, now that I know where to find ya, I'll come visit a lot more, neh?" Marshall said. He figured the least he could do would be to drop by every once in a while. Slowly, he got to his feet, sinking a good quarter inch in the still damp mud.

"Well...I'll catch you later." Marshall said with a smile, giving a weak wave as he walked back towards his duplex, glancing up at the sky.

Snow in the Carribean...I'd like that.

New RP

It'd been a few days since Alec had finally been allowed back into his duplex again, the odd and disturbing scene he'd woken up to leaving him with a feeling of numbness still. Although he harbored no anymosity towards the place he'd called home for a little while, he did however, seek to return to gather some of his things to bring back.

Given the poor weather they'd been experiencing recently, Alec was urgent to retrieve particular belongings such as the peice of his drum kit he'd smuggled into the jungle before it was ruined by the rain. The teen slowly rummaged through the debris and mess that was his newly-abandoned camp site generally minding his own business, almost enjoying the solitude. With no one around there were few reminders of his current state and therefore fewer opportunities to accidently salivate on someone (again).

Sid was letting his thoughts get away from him again. That was never a good thing when he went out walking, as it always led him to go much further than he intended. It was even easier to do now that he forced himself to keep his head down when he walked. Doing that not only made it harder to see what had happen to his face, but it almost put his elongated jaw out of his field of sight. All he saw when he walked was the placement of his feet, his blissfully normal feet, along the river bed. He knocked aside every rock he came to with his cane, unwittingly announcing himself as he approached the camp.

Alec paused in mid-action when he heard the ruccus of someone approaching, realizing that the area he'd chosen must attract more foot-traffic than what he gave it credit for. Instead of waiting for the person to show themselves, he continued going about his method of "re-packing" his things into a pile to be able neatly tied in a bed sheet and carried back with him.

Keeping his mouth shut to avoid the inevitable garbled greeting he could barely muster, the teen kept an eye out as the sounds grew closer just as he stooped down to pick up an abandoned item in the grass.

Sid finally looked up when he stepped on to a particularly large rock. As many pebbles as he had knocked aside, he still wasn't in any better spirits. He realized then that he had no idea where he was, or how far he might have walked.

"Ah sih," he groaned, the last word the closest he could muster for 's**t'.

It was a small consolation that he at least had the river to go by, so getting back was just a small matter of turning around and hope he could make it before his knee started to give him grief.

He was just about to turn when he saw Alec, which immediately made him regret saying anything out loud.

Alec's brow furrowed when he heard what he could only guess was a curse from the approaching stranger, warranting him turning around to see exactly who it was. What he saw was clearly the form of the older man named Sid, head down and apparently focused on his task so much that he could hardly see the details of his face from that angle. What was he doing out here again? Last time he recalled, he'd gotten lost and stumbled upon the sharkboy by chance.

"Ay Sid! Ye lookin' liveleh." The teen smirked, amused to see the crotchety man once again.

"Looh closah," Sid said irritably. Though at the moment he was more annoyed with himself for falling to wandering again. Truly senile people did that... he just had to assure himself that in his case it was just because he was very troubled, not idled.

Sid's slurred words caught the teen's attention and he set aside the stack of clothes he'd been gathering, turning to stare at the man on command. The details he hadn't noticed were shocking though somewhat expected. "'OLEH SHI', MOTHUH O' SHEESUS!" Alec cursed and promptly stumbled towards Sid, bending his spine to peer at the man's impressive and purely horrific lower jaw. He then noticed his hands which only inspired more awe, as well as being creeped out by the it all. Being so used to the process, he could do little more than oogle and from the looks of it, he was looking awefully fish-like.

"Ma'! Da mus'f 'ur like a' lo', ye." The teen began to sputter somewhat excitedly, producing a copious amount of saliva that quickly found its way out of his toothless mouth.

"Eh hail 'urt urse," Sid said, which was true. Worse than that, the tail had forced him to cut holes in his pants. Alec's enthusiam threw him off. He was prepared to rebuke sympathy, stoically endure horror, but enthusiasm? Before he could work out just how he should respond to that, his face, and his gaping mouth, were showered with Alec's spit.

He sucked in a breath, counted to three, and moved the cane up to... hold under his arm to free both hands. He reach into his back pocket- he was lucky the hole for his tail hadn't cut into them as well- and dug out a crumbled notepad and golf pencil. He originally meant to keep them on hand for little details like names and gossip. If he thought he'd have to depend on it he would have brought along something with more space to write.

He flipped it open, scowled at the first page- which had writing on it already- and flipped that back to a fresh one. He quickly scribbled something on and held it up to Alec.

How about I just write?

He'd written it so quickly that the words were caught somewhere between printing and cursive, but it was at least legible.

Alec, unsurprisingly, was having just as hard of a time figuring out what Sid had just attempted to say though he dwelled on it longer than he probably should've. Even though the speech was off in both, the teen could see the irritation as clear as day. Figuring it was due to the amount of spit he'd flung at the poor man, he willingly accepted the note pad. Unfortunately, reading wasn't exactly his forte.

"Sowweh" He mumbled quickly as he covered his mouth with is hand this time before squinting at the scrawled and somewhat legible writing. "Sho." The toothless teen nodded though he made an effort to keep a distance from Sid for inevitable 'splatter'. "Whasha hail?"

Sid grumbled and wrote in large letters just under his first comment. He held the notepad up to Alec once more.

TAIL

And in case that wasn't enough, he nodded his head back to indicate the foot long scaly spine extension he had. It twitched, but it was silly to think it did it of its own accord.

He seemed muted once he'd read the easily-seen four-letter word on the notepad, smart enough to realize that Sid was really, really pissed off. It was his first change afterall, had he been grumpy too?

Despite any predicted repraucations the teen stole a quick glance at the finned appendage, confirming his assumption. He couldn't remember if Sid had told him about his serum type previously, though he was always mixing up information about newcomers and strangers alike.

"Oh." He simply responded after he'd seen enough, awkwardly waiting for somesort of negative reaction.

Sid was certainly annoyed enough to lash out, but when it came right down to it, and after he wiped his face off, he just felt drained. He looked at the cane he had under his arm, then the notepad, and decided it best if he just sat down. He hobbled over to the nearest outcropping, not bothering to use the cane for the few steps it took.

He looked terribly broken down, more like his age, but it could have just been the long walk catching up to him. He looked at the notepad and pencil, but he didn't know what more he could say.

He wrote something anyway and held it out for Alec to take.

The text was a little neater this time:

I glow in the dark now.

Alec tried to subdue his reaction on purpose this time, after reading the next page in the series of messages he simply smirked and gave an approving nod as well as returning the notepad. So his face was messed up, he'd seen worse (sorta). One thing he did know for sure was that it didn't do any good dwelling on it. Minding the tired look on the man's face, the kid decided to copy the action and take a seat opposite Sid on a mossy rock.

"Theh's ben loss o' sh-...shanges. Doc'sh ben buseh." The generalized comment was said in calm passiveness, the teen reaching for his bandanna several times to furiously dab at his mouth. "A' c'n go mack now. Mu' ee di' thish fust." He then pointed to his toothless mouth with the same expression.
