I refuse to the rest of the Harry Potter Series, personally I found it dull and silly. I was highly disappointed in the first book, which I read only a few months ago. Maybe it was all the hype, maybe it was just the poor storyline and bad writing. But I found it so...dull. Theres no way I will be reading another one of those books.

the animal farm movie was just plain awful. the book was depressing, too. i can read books if they are reasonably sad, that's just life, but if there is a new tragedy in every chapter, that's just ridiculous. i have a friend, though, who won't read a book unless it's filled with blood, gore , and tears. She scares me sometimes. crying i must admit that i am an extemely picky reader. I can't stand nonfiction, and usually can't stand a lot of futuristic sci-fi. More often than not, it's about the destuction of the world or inter-galactic wars. Same basic plot every time. stressed i don't really like mystery either, but i love agatha christie. blaugh Her book And Then There Were None(a.k.a. Ten Little Indians) was the best murder mystery book I've ever read. i recommend it to ayone who likes mysteries. whee

I generally stay away from realistic fiction, unless I have to read it for school or something like that. Reality is boring. That's why I don't read about it!

I must say that I will read just about anything if I'm bored enough. Along with fantasy and scifi, I've read spy thrillers, westerns, romance novels, horror, and nonfiction of all sorts. Not all of them have been good, but you'd be surprised how many good books there are outside of your 'usual' genre.

harry potter past the first book, very meh, the magics too tame for me and i just didnt like it
the eragon books/serise type thing, dont like it, not very imaginative and more cliches than i can count. yes its cool that a 17 year old could pull off a novel. doesnt mean i have to like it [im used to the eragon nazi at my school >_<]

I don't read sci-fi books. Or books based off of Star Wars, Star Trek, or any other tv series. I used to read romance novels..you know the ones.. sweatdrop I stopped, thank God. They all have the same plot line anyways.
I will read anything else. I prefer books that are written in the third person, have a distinct plot, and are milding entertaining. There are always exceptions to the rule. For example, Snowflower and the Secret Fan. Awesome read. Written in first person..but not confusing in the least.

At first I refused to read "The Portrait of Dorian Gray" when it was assigned in my senior english class. Then I realised I wanted to graduate so I had to deal with it. That book was horrible.
I had a ten minute argument with my teacher over whether or not Dorian was gay. She didn't even concede when I showed her a few summaries that stated that point.

Lord of the Flies ever again.
I've read it three times for school and I've never really been able to enjoy it. I understand that Golding used the breakdown of the boys' society as a metaphor for the breakdown of the unseen global society, and that was quite cleverly done, but the story itself didn't really grip me. It wasn't enjoyable, it didn't speak to me, I'm not gonna give it another chance. neutral
I won't read romance. The female leads are almost always thinly-veiled self-inserts or Mary-Sues designed as a place-holder for the reader. There's no underlying message, no metaphor, no allegory, no real character development; only the development of a relationship that I couldn't care less about and, often, pointless sex.

Part of the reason I didn't want to read Dorian Gray was because our english teacher gave us the choice between that and Lord of the Flies, we picked Lord of the Flies and she made us read Dorian Gray anyway

Harry Potter book 2-7. Meh...I read book one sometime last year...slowest most unexciting book Ive ever read. I dont know...maybe it was the hype, or the crappy characters, or the dull narrative form of writing...I just could'nt get into it?
I dont know if thats bad or cruel, but those books seem so...juvenile to me.

Kraggus Doomhammer Elphiey i wont read eragon...i know it is suposed to be a good book...but i started it and it was not my type of book The only thing I ever hear about that is "The kid that wrote it was only 15". Thats just a silly reason to read a book I'm reading the book right now, well, not this instant, but its nothing special. It moves about as slowly as the first half of HP and the Philosoper's Stone. Characters do nothing but wander around in some pointed stupor hoping that bad things don't happen to them. I just don't find it good or exciting, Paolini is overrated because his book was made into a movie and even before that it didn't deserve any of the praise it got. There's just nothing to the book except a juvenile attempt at inserting Paolini's ego into a Tolkien-like world.
