"Ah!" Amaya toppled over half onto him, her arm in his grip and mouth. Though before she could pull away again her muscles twitched and spasmed, sending her huge tail haywire all over the place, thrashing and snapping. At the same time the arm that Alec held along with most of that side went numb.

Damnit! The iguana hissed and kept trying to pull away, eventually giving in and bringing her long snout right next to the punk's head where his ear used to reside. Taking in a deep breath, she tried to snap him out of it. "Alec!" She screamed - though it was still quiet, all things considered.

Kaveri began to regain feeling in her fingertips and toes, every pinfeather ached and her own feathers, all of them, stood puffed out on end so she looked like a six foot tall duster. She wobbled as every muscle in her body began to twitch and spasm upon having the feeling return to it, clumsily readjusting her walking stick so she wouldn't fall over flat on her face.

It took far longer than it should have for her to even begin to get her bearings back, and she didn't even realize Zach was there. Her eyes were affixed to the two writhing bodies in the dirt.

What the hell was that?

To a half-conscious, wounded and delerious person, a scream next to their ear was the last thing they'd want. Thankfully his weakened state made him suceptible to such ploys and although Amaya's voice was markably softer than a truly loud volume, it still sent a jolt of pain through his system.

This was enough to cause him to momentarily detach and convince his instincts to allow him a retreat to have another pass at his supposed "meal". The irish boy tried to stand and walk backwards away from the source of the noise but his wounds and lack of eyesight at the time only led him to topple down hard into the dirt.

Everything was quickly going black.

His teeth chattered together painfully. The scaly red tail twitched in three different spots, sending it wildly zigzagging over the ground. One of his wings moved at an angle not intended, creating a sharp burst of pain. What had been a nuisance was starting to become a serious annoyance.

Zach made it roughly five feet away from where he'd started at that point, miserably pulling himself with the one arm and occasionally pushing with his feet, toward where his duplex was - at which point he'd be confronted with an even more daunting obstacle, stairs. His muscles continued to fight him the whole way.

Amaya tried to stand up and follow him, but her legs spasmed and gave out on her. But she kept trying, even more so as she watched him fall. "Alec!" She called out between a dry sob. Why was he acting this way? Was the shark taking hold of him too? Would she loose him like she had lost Chubbs?

Eventually she got over to his side and once again held him in her arms. Despite if he would try and bite her again, or thrash, or whatever... the girl continued to embrace him. Hugging him tight to her chest she nuzzled the back of his head with her snout.

"Alec, don't do this. Come back. Stay awake. Just... wake up." It was like everyone else around her was nonexistant.

Tommy's violent coughing began to ease after a moment which seemed like an eternity to the broken bat. Darkness creeped at the edge of his vision as his mind just told him "No" to everthing that's been happening. His leg cramped up a moment and the fingers of his right hand splayed out to their full length for a few seconds before his body went limp, eyes rolling up into the back of his head. His ragged breathing continues on, though he lays there cold and friendless.

All the world was a blur for him at that moment in time. slowly succumbing to the blackness, his muscled fell limp only to twitch once and awhile with residual pulses from the electrical shock that had rendered him motionless. Sick with most likely a concussion and much blood loss, he let his head fall to the side as he fell unconscious.

It was a miracle the walking stick didn't snap under her weight with all that she was leaning on it. Her legs trembled and felt like they would go out from under her any minute now, and did nothing to help her mood.

"Somebody..." Kaveri croaked out, raising her voice, "******** tell me what de <********> I just watched! I tawt people were supposed to get zapped if dey did someting out of line, not beaten into de ******** ground!"

Holding Aubrey hostage was a shitty thing to do, but so was beating the crap out of someone after they've been rendered helpless.

Zach craned his neck upward. He hadn't been wrong earlier after all. That voice was unmistakably Kaveri's! He pushed himself up, trying to get into at least a sitting position, cradling his useless right arm against the unfamiliar ridges of his scaly chest. His mind raced, not helped by the fact that a bruise by his horn had begun to swell and ache. Here he was, in nothing but some beaten-up pants. And bald, very bald. He'd chucked his hat at the cobra man in a gesture of annoyance, and now he'd lost his hat and would likely not get another for a while. Perhaps this was a good time to reveal his lack of hair. His tail snapped against the ground, making him wince.

He looked around until he spotted Kaveri some ways away throwing herself against her stick. He discovered he'd been holding his breath and sucked in a couple of breaths. Both his wings were twitching, something he really wished they wouldn't do. Useless extra appendages, scary looking too, as he recalled from his reflection. He grabbed his tail in his shaking left hand, digging his claws in a little too hard. The tail wriggled blindly in his grasp as though it wasn't his at all.

"Kaveri!" he called to her. He couldn't say anything from this much of a distance, but the only way he'd be able to get over there was... crawling.

Kaveri's feathers were still puffed out, some of them twitching and quivering with each muscle spasm. She craned her head up when she heard her name called, looking around with wide silver eyes.

"Zach?" Of course. That twitching red mass on the ground could be none other than he, for there were no other distinctly crimson islanders to her knowledge. She straightened up her shoulders and back and began to awkwardly hobble her way over to him, staff clicking on the ground with each step. A few feathers drifted away from her as she walked.

It had been far too long since she'd seen him. That was mostly her fault, with her hiding out in the jungle out of shame over her appearance and not coming back to the village before now. Or was it shame? It was hard to say. The vulture frowned and squatted beside him, still holding on to her stick. "Holy crap, man..."

Whether or not she was commenting on Zach's current twitching state of being or transformation is up to interpretation.

"I had a hat earlier," he said sheepishly. He stared at her with sad eyes. His automatic reasoning was that she noticed what he was most sensitive about - his newfound lack of hair. Even his protruding snout seemed a less noticable feature.

He studied here, still clutching his squirming tail. She looked the same to him. Quite blue in the face still, among other things equally noticable. "Kaveri, I've misssed- er, I mean, where've you been? I looked all over the village for you oncsse I got out of the lab."

"What's a hat got to do wid anyting?" Kaveri asked. Was he delirous? Did he just transform that day? Of all the things for a vulture to fuss over! It's not like she wasn't losing her hair either, what with half of her mane of dreadlocks having fallen out since her last transformation.

"I..." she began, nibbling on her labret as she is often wont to do in times of embarassment, "I was out." Now she felt bad for leaving like she did and not telling Zach where she was. A frown crossed her face and she looked away. "In de jungle."

Aww. Maybe they can start an "Islanders ashamed of their appearance" support group.

"My hair... I lossst it all..." Self-consciously he reached up to cover his bald scalp with his free hand. It just didn't feel right.

"The jungle?" he muttered, trying to pinpoint where precisely she'd go. It, and the entire island, were pretty large. He couldn't think of anywhere in particular. Still... "The jungle'sss dangerousss. What if sssomething attacked you? I don't want you getting hurt." His leg kicked out without warning, sending him falling backwards onto his sore and twitching wings and back spine with a yelp.

"It doesn't look too bad," Kaveri said, finally noticing. "At least you don't have a pompadour like I do." In all honesty, she figured that she would probably be better off bald instead of looking like a rastafarian chicken.

"What would attack me? De deer? De pigs? I stay at my clearing most of de time, or wander around, and wait for whatever's killed dem to go away after-- oh, no!" Zach had fallen over, and Kaveri bent over to hold out a wing for him to grab on to and help him up. She leaned heavily on her stick for balance still, and another white feather falls from a spasming clump of muscles on her thigh.

In the back of her mind, the vulture really, really wanted to preen despite the lack of a beak.

"Are you alright?"

He grabbed her wing-hand quickly and pulled himself back up. He couldn't lie on his back any more, not with wings. It was too painful. He'd banged his horns against the ground, which amounted to a brand new headache for him.

"Ah! Ah! I'm... I'm fine." He stretched his shaking wings, making sure the frail things hadn't broken the bones under his weight. Everything seemed to be fine, if bruised a bit. His mind jumped back to Chubbs and his silent, sudden means of attack. He had yet to find out what Kaveri was becoming, and had no way to make the connection between dead animals and her dinner. "Hrrgh. Ow. Well, sssomething had to kill thossse animals. It - whater it isss- might try to kill you too. Pleassse be careful. I jussst... you know... be careful."

Oh, he blew it again. It was so much easier to tell someone how you felt about them when it was an imaginary scenario. How was he supposed to tell her what he thought of her? How? His tail cracked against the ground again, and then proceeded to go numb halfway up from the tailtip.
