"Eint!" Sey cried, bowled over from the momentum and superior weight of the miners. Panic threatened, but she held on, scrambling madly away from her attackers. It would take several precious seconds for her Guardian to return, so the priestess kept to the defensive, keeping her own barriers alive, and definitely skirting away from the edge.

The dragon rocketed down towards the riverbed with Stryphe nowhere in sight. Inside the mouth of the beast waited Stryphe, getting all warm and slimey. It was neccesary, though- the only problem would be making the quick light adjustment. It was moving at such a speed that few would manage to react to it before it came slamming down at the base of the dam among Sey, Sunstrike, and the attacking miners. Upon impact, the summon would dispel and the area would be completely filled with a thick, brown smoke. Stryphe could only assume that his allies under miner attack would take this chance to do something- or at least it might be able to buy Stryphe some time to make a rescue.
Stryphe would be left crouching behind a large rock in the riverbed amidst the smoke- not having been dispelled with the dragon, yet safely landed and ready to grab at his chance to save his friends.

"Tch," Shouyin strapped the assault rifle to the harness on his back, pulling a handgun from the holster at his right hip. He pointed the pistol up in front as he ran towards the tree the musician had hid behind, left hand empty and hovering above his left breast in case he needed to draw his knife.
He'd aim to jump out in front of the flute-player, Hallowe'en "BOO!" style sorta thing. Except instead of boo he'd say "Freeze!" and hopefully get the guy to throw his hands in the air and s**t. He wasn't sure about that twister business though, which was why his left hand was empty, in case he needed to drop and form a barrier.

Flare was too focused on the bullets to dodge the arrow. It tore through her wing, leaving a large hole behind it. And Flare was falling faster.
Dammit all to hell
She couldn't really dodge anymore. She sent the fireball she had charged earlier up at Sam then surrendered herself to the fall. She did one last thing, though...twisting her body so that it was her side, rather than her back or front, that was presented to Sam as a target.
As a result, her right arm and leg would be shot to all hell, if Sam managed to fire true through the smoke, useless until they were healed. And Flare would be in serious danger of dying from blood loss. If she didn't go splat from the fall.
((Was convinced not to roll just yet. I think this works.))

Hein's eyes fell now to the besieged white mage. So many of their own against one seemingly defenseless girl. Was it right to do that? It was easy enough to take down the seemingly lifeless behemoth that they had brought, but it was a different matter to kill a living, breathing soul.
Taking a deep breath, Hein closed his eyes for a moment as he notched another arrow to his bow, pulling back 'til it was at straining even against the thumb ring that he had on.
"...hesitation leads to mistakes...mistakes lead to death...death leads to despair. She's an enemy...nothing more, nothing less..."
Sighting down the shaft, Hein blinked just once. And in that moment, the entire area seemed to be covered in a thick brown smoke. Growling, his arm faltered for a moment before he shot the arrow, the bolt spinning through the air as it soared towards the defensive cleric, the arrow aimed at the cleric taking the life of two of the miners hacking away at her instead.
"Damn...I can't see a thing..."

((You'd probably be having to do some guesswork with that shot- the area's covered in smoke for the next few moments.))

Aiolos saw the man and instinctivly, blew a high stacatto note into his flute. Hopefully the gust of wind that went with it will knock him back, he couldn't be too sure. Then, a thick brown smoke surrounded the area and both him and his attacker were blinded. He blew a few more stacatto notes where he saw the man, hoping he'd get lucky, he grabbed the mage and ran the hell away from the tree.

Zen creeped along the parameter of the dam base, he moved from tree to tree observing the events going on at the dam base, "Where the hell did the others go?" Zen replied as he prepared a plan.

Blind faith
Sunstrike felt a shudder go through him, and his one eye widened as he saw Flare fall, and the two miners jumped onto his back, then everything went...brown?
There was a scream from the smoke and a cheer! They'd gotten him, they'd gotten the-...huh?
Dressed in a black hoodie, all they'd managed to kill was one of their own. Sunstrike had used the smokescreen to his own advantage alright.
Flare would feel arms catch her and hold her close.
"Yo!" There was a grin on Sun's face, even if that eye was worried.

The water mage, for his part, threw a tiny gust of cold air over Aiolos' shoulder, aiming for the hand gun, hoping to frost it over and make firing problematic. There was an even chance of it getting blown away by the smoke, though.
Then the mage was off and running after Aiolos.

"OSHI-- !" Shou cried out as he went a'sailing backwards. Hell was that? Guy blows a flute and he goes flying? He landed about as softly as one could in this kinda situation, tucking into a backwards roll as the area was flooded with smoke.
Can't catch a break with this business can I? He thought as he crouched down concentrating. He'd catch the sounds of Aiolos' retreat, the image of the musician forming in his mind in that crazy way it did with Sokugoku. If the gust did catch his gun, he was already putting it away, deciding it useless against a guy who could blow the bullets away. In exchange he pulled the knife at his breast out with his left hand, holding it with blade facing downwards as he made quick pursuit through the smoke.

Strange... Didn't they just kill one of these?
Once again a rook was climbing up the path at an alarming rate... Onlt this time it appeared to have an archer on its shoulders. Still it was running in like a football player, god knows if the archer could get a clear shot.
