wow, my favorite character, that has to as hard as my favorite book and it changes as much as the wind, so, at the moment, here it is:

Aly from Tamora Pierce's Daughter of the Lioness Series (trickster's choice/trickster's queen...)

Ona from The Jungle. Such an innocent girl (15 years old at the time) who married a man and was looking for peace and freedom in America (back before President Roosevelt disproved of packing factories), but ended up starving, raped by her boss for money and eventually killed in child birth.

Jack Crow from John Steakley's novel Armor.

what's not to love about an escaped convict space pirate who ends up helping the people he was supposed to set up for an attack?

(side note to any Steakley fan's i found our recently he's started writing a sequel to Armor, if any one wants to see the sneak preview he's been showing around ask me)

That actually sounds like a pretty good read Meatsack, I'll have to look for it the next time I'm in Chapters.

My favourite character right now is Garviel Loken, Captain of the Ten Company of the Space Marine Luna Wolves Legion, forth member of Warmaster Horus' Mournival and destined, I admit sadly, to die upon the traitor world of Istvann IIV. Oh how dramatically sad the 41st millennium is. So many warriors, devout and steadfast, destined to fall prey to the arrogance of treachery.

My favorite character would have to be Valentine Micheal Smith, from Stranger in a Strange Land. At least at the begining. He has the innocence of a newborn, but the comprehension of a child AND an adult at the same time, and is continuously learning about the horrid world of Earth.

Urendell
Mine's Hermione Granger from Harry Potter because I can realate to her. 3nodding

Ender (Andrew) Wiggin from "Ender's Game" because i was also always the runt who thought big thoughts, and made my chief friends because of it.
-Or-
Cortana from the Halo book series, cuz she's a computer dieity who has an attitude; aka, don't mess with her! I can respect that kind of a personality, plus she's a really complex character (less so, though, than Dr. Halsey), as far as computer AI's go.

so, yeah. those two. XD

Atticus Finch. I want to glomp him. Others include Frodo, Huckleberry Finn, Jack Burden, Albus Dumbledore, Pi Patel, John Singer (The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter), Jane Eyre, Luna Lovegood, and Nanny from The Nanny Diaries.

It's too hard to choose one.... I'll elaborate on John Singer, though. His emotional depth amazed me. I don't know if I've ever identified with a character as well as I did with him. Carson McCullers, the author, just dug so deeply into humanity. Loneliness is the prevailing theme, which can be guessed from the title. Poignant book, brilliant characters. I need to read it again.

I hope to add sci-fi and some more fantasy characters soon. :3
