For the few moments she was focused on the movie, she had to keep herself from laughing out loud too hard. She liked the position she was in, and didn't want to make him uncomfortable by shaking too hard. Later she'd have to watch the movie on her own, when she could actually pay attention long enough to understand the plotline and appreciate the humor. When Stephan pulled her attention away from the movie, she didn't mind.
"Here? As in the compound?" she tilted her head so that she could look up at him as well. "Well, at first I came because of the free rent."
Her initial excitement those few weeks ago had been hard to contain. No rent. No utilities payments. No need to churn out complete literary crap like her first book in order to make a living. At least now she could take her time and write something worth reading.
"Now I have other reasons to stay, obviously. Namely Gavin. But I've met so many people here, more people than I think I've ever known at once."
I met you, she thought, but then blushed again when she realized where her mind was headed. Stephan was holding her, their faces were relatively close, and Remi felt as though she were falling for the guy. Did he see things the same way?

Stephan nodded, "Same reason for me, the free rent part at least. That and it's closer to home than any of the places I could have gone near my old school." Looking around, more for effect than anything, he added quietly, "To tell the truth, I didn't really read many of the papers and stuff that I think I was supposed to. When I moved in I basically knew I'd have to take care of a kid, and not much else."
Smiling, he shrugged, "I'm glad I did though." For a lot of reasons. He was comfortable here, he was beginning to think he'd like being a father, and he'd met her. That was reason enough. Realizing how close they were, he sort of froze, not entirely sure what he wanted to do.

When Remi felt him tense slightly, she was reminded of when he dropped her off at her apartment last time. They'd been about this close, and neither one of them had a clue what to do. In her mind she wanted what she felt was coming, but only if he wanted it too. It was times like these when she cursed herself for always putting other people's wants five miles up the priority list above her own. She couldn't read people's thoughts, which made things like that difficult.
"I'm glad too," she said almost breathlessly. The movie was nothing more than background noise by now. She was too focused on Stephan now.

So what're you going to do Steps? Oh great. The voice in his head was now one of the friend who'd been his mentor most of the way through college. You just going to sit there and lose your chance again? No, he couldn't do that. He'd be regretting for the rest of the night if he did. But then, what if she didn't feel the same? Whichever way it turned out to be, he had to give it a shot. Showing a smile for a moment, he leaned forward, moving his arm slightly to pull her into a kiss. Worst that could happen is she'd slap him, right?

Slapping him was the last thing on her mind when his lips touched hers. Remi let him pull her into the kiss, and leaned into it herself. She moved her own arm around him so that she could get closer. It was one of the most amazing things she'd ever experienced. This wouldn't be one of those memories that lacked a name and a face. She'd definitely remember this one.
Still, embarrassment at her inexperience with this was rearing it's ugly head. She only hoped that whatever she was doing, that he liked it too.

He was honestly a little surprised when she reciprocated, but pleasantly so. Not really wanting the moment to end, he held the kiss for as long as he could, until nearly running out of air. Then he broke it, staying close to her. "Wow..." He whispered almost silently, not really meaning for her to hear it.
Well, there was one mountain crossed.

She had also been running out of air by the time he pulled away. That didn't mean she had wanted it to end. Still, she was breathing hard trying to make up for the time she'd spent on the kiss instead of taking in air. At his whisper she smiled, obviously thinking the same thing.
"I'm hoping that's a good reaction?" she half-asked, half-stated. Part of her wanted to continue, though her realm of knowledge ended at kissing. She knew where it led, but not exactly what she was supposed to do during it. The vague stories on making out or making love from her friends had left a lot to the imagination, so she could only guess at what was expected of her.

Instead of answering with words, he kissed her again, this time a bit more powerful now that he knew she felt the same. The back of his mind was telling him he was being too forward, but the rest was telling it to shut up. This was about where a lot of his dates through college had been in a matter of minutes, but for Remi, he was more than willing to slow down, take things at her pace. Breaking the kiss for a moment, he looked at her, "Tell me to stop if I'm going too fast." After all, he didn't have much experience with taking things slow.

She welcomed the next kiss, moving her other arm around his neck. Before he pulled away again she let a pleased noise escape her throat. It even surprised her, knowing that such feelings and noises existed. She savored every moment, wondering if it would feel like this everytime.
When he pulled away again, she hadn't even been thinking of pace. More because she didn't know exactly what the pacings were. Slow, fast, she didn't know the relative meanings. As far as she knew, whatever he was doing was normal.
"It's fine," she smiled, reassuring him. "I'm still figuring out how all this works, but I'd like to think I'm a quick learner."
As if to prove her point, she initiated the next kiss. Her boldness surprised even her, but she was enjoying this.

As far as he was concerned, the movie didn't exist anymore, and when she kissed him, he went off into an entirely seperate world from the TV. Gaining confidence, he pulled her up, turning so that they were laying lengthwise on the couch with him on the bottom. Much more comfortable than sitting up at any rate. He was smiling cheerfully as the kiss broke, "Guess you are."

The shift surprised her, though she didn't let it bother her. It was more comfortable, and he obviously knew more about this than she did. She had no problems letting him take the lead in all this. She grinned at his comment, and leaned in for another short kiss.
"You'll have to teach me what happens next though," she leaned to whisper in his ear. She wasn't kidding when she said she didn't have a clue. No knowledge of all the pleasure people seemed to get out of this. If just this little bit of kissing felt so good, then she wondered what lied ahead.
She'd need a guide, however.

He shivered when she whispered, but quickly regained his composure. What was left of it anyway. After another prolonged kiss, he nodded, but didn't say anything. He could feel his heart beating in his throat, and to his annoyance elsewhere, but he didn't care so much anymore. He was with her, the way he wanted to be, and that was all that really mattered to him right now. That and the hope that Gavin would stay asleep.
(( Fade would be good, yep ))

((To the next morning then! And I'm thinking Remi probably would have forced them to shift to the bedroom eventually))
Well, that had been nothing short of amazing. Sure, it hurt at parts, but at least the stories from her friends led her to expect that much. Knowing that Gavin liked to wake up early sometimes, Remi'd made them move to her bedroom where he knew to let her sleep unless it was a dire emergency.
Except that there hadn't been much sleeping.
She nestled under her sheets, moving somehow even closer to Stephan's body next to her. Weren't people supposed to wait before doing something like what they had done last night? By this point she didn't really care. For once she'd let pleasure rule over everything her mother had tried to drill in her head, and she didn't care. It felt too good.

As Remi shifted around around, Stephan wavered in between sleep and waking up. He was more mellow than tired, and mrring quietly, he pulled his arms tighter around her. He was exactly coherent enough to make words, but that would change as he woke up. For now, sleeping was fine.
What time was it anyway? Morning for sure, hopefully not late enough that Gavin would be awake.
Staying just like this was fine by him.

Part of her wondered if maybe they had gone too fast. Not that she regretted last night. Not at all. It was just now she was realizing that she'd only seen him twice before doing this. Maybe that's what he'd meant last night when he'd asked her if she wanted to slow things down. He hadn't seemed to mind that she didn't want to, but it made her slightly worried about things to come. There had been many times that she'd had to console friends who's boyfriends had left them right after having sex.
But Stephan wasn't like that, was he? Well, he was a frat boy, but he'd stayed with her all night. That had to mean something. There was one way she could find out.
Resting her head on his chest, she murmured sleepily. "I love you."
She did. So maybe it wasn't love at first sight, but more like love after the first evening at a diner over pie.
However, the door slamming open and a blur of orange running to the side of the bed broke her out of her sleepy thoughts.
"Mommy! Toilet 'slpoded!"
