Viragogirl Did you guys know that using lvl 2 can help you find things? I think you just use cho-ku-rei, but I'm not sure... Cho-ku-rei? Can you explain what it is? ^_^

is there an alternative technique to do energy healing? i know what reiki is, and have a few books on the subject. im mad cuz i kno two ppl who do reiki, but both are not masters >.<. so is there an alternative?
i think i have one, i just imagine a white smoke entering the top of my head, then it goes down my whole body, and comes out my hands, i then imagine that the white smoke seeps into the area of pain.
could this be an alternative?

@lucid james: This is sort of a form of Reiki. Visualization helps with directing the flow of energy, so it's not exactly an alternative to Reiki, but an alternative method of it.
@Cat Goddess Bastet: In my opinion, and personal experience, you do not, I repeart not have to be initiated to do any form of Reiki/Energy Healing/what have you. You don't have to be "attuned" to the Universal Energy, you just have to learn to use it, channel it. And that can be self taught, as it is with me.
I can perform limited forms of Reiki/EH. I've done it for several people, all of whom have described it as a warm and/or tingling sensation in the area I focus on. I imagine a white light pouring in from all around and concentrating in my Third Eye. Then it transfers through my hands into the recipient and to a specific spot, or it simply spreads throughout. The recipient and I often take on the same breathing pattern. I simply know when to stop, and I do. The recipient feels much better for up to days afterward. The duration will increase, I assume, as I become more proficient.
As others have said, and this will freak you out; I do sometimes take the negative energy or pain from the recipient of the healing and replace it with my positive energy. This is in NO WAY Black Magick. I'm not proficient in changing the form of energy, and I'm not saying it can't happen, however; When you replace the negativity, it has to go somewhere. I deal with it in doses, and get rid of it from there.
I'm not trying to say that Initiation doesn't help at all; indeed, it's part of the learning process and will help with control. However, it is not necessary.

I would love to learn more about reiki, but there are no workshops around here, and I've never seen a book on it in Waldens...Maybe there's one in Barnes and Noble...Maybe. I'll check sometime.
I'm able to heal things such as minor aches and pains, but that's pretty much it. I'll focus my energies to heal and imagine the energy flowing out of my hands into the person. This generally makes the ache go away for a while. A couple of times before, I've taken someones pain into myself, but I don't really think that's a good idea.... sweatdrop

I am a Reiki Master/Teacher, and have worked with energy healing off and on for the last 7 years - at one point I had my own Wellness Center. After having completed my Reiki training, I am of two minds on the subject. Energy healing in general can be done by anyone. It does not require attunements or any special ritual/ceremony. One has only to focus the energy that surrounds us and direct it with a healing intention. As far as Reiki goes there are several schools of thought on that one as well. Some say you have to go through the attunement process exactly as it is laid out in the Teacher training, others do group attunements and distance attunements. Personally having been through the "formal process" (classes and formal attunement), I am not sure that it is all that necessary. Anyone can manipulate energy for healing - it is all about intention. Do attunements help you...sure, but so does practice. The only things attunements are really for is to help open your chakras and "attune" you to the energy. But really if you just pay attention what is already around you, then you will find that you are already attuned If you want info on specifically on Reiki you can check out http://www.reiki.org/ they have a lot of good information. Also there was a post earlier that stated that if someone does Reiki on you that you have to pay them - this isn't exactly true. The teaching is something along the lines of: if you do something for free - it won't be valued. This is why for a long time early Reiki practitioners charged really high fees for their services. I personally do Reiki for anyone who wants it - no charge, although most of what I do currently isn't "traditional" Reiki, it's a mix of techniques.

There are a lot of books out there on the subject. I've even seen some in traditional books stores. My aunt is a master though she's now so far gone in age that she forgets that she can even use it. She used to help me with my headaches when I was younger, and tried showing me a little on how to channel the energy used (mostly so that I would understand what she was doing). It is an amazing ability, and I am glad that people are open minded enough to give it a shot.

I am a level 1 reiki....I've been attuned to do so.....I've always been able to do energy work and healing...but Reiki is different....it is universal energy....not the use of the practitioners personal energy(which is generally what people do when they are not trained)...using universal energy allows you to heal without wearing yourself out...it is possible to become attuned on your own with reiki if you spend years practicing and studying it....but it's hard to do on your own....the attunement process just vastly speeds up the amount of time it takes for you to be able to connect with the universal energy....attunements can be quite powerful so you need to be sure you are ready for them...I started getting tons of visits by my spirit guides after I was attuned....woke me up several times a night actually......and as far as "forgetting" reiki....it is never something you can forget once you are a part of it....it does get stronger with more attunments and practice but it never goes away......also when getting rid of negative energies....you send it into the earth to be purified....you can use yourself as a sort of rod to send it there through their feet, but you NEVER bring it into yourself or let it attach to you....you can also use reiki to scan the body to find the parts that need the most healing(I was able to pick out and heal all the spot needed on a person I had just met), you can also do an overall healling/cleansing, and you can try to help them with emotional and physical problems they are having...figuring out stuff for yourself is one thing...but even if you miss places the reiki will flow where it needs to......also there are different levels of aura that you can heal as well as aura smoothing....*pants...ok....there's the tip of the iceburge

AFAIK you don't need to be initiated you need to be ATTUNED...
And you can practice reiki without being initiated just as a normal person could use a spell if they really wanted to. If your heart and intentions are pure there are no issues.
EDIT: I really extremely want to learn reiki, but only so many books can be purchased on a student's budget and attunements are like $30 apiece with $20 apiece books..

If anyone is in the Portland OR area, the first tuesday of the month is when there is a reiki circle in gresham. You don't need to be attuned or anything to come. It is at a church down the street from my apartment. will try to put the address and name of the church it is at when I can get it, in case anyone is interested. ^_^

Ha.
I can do it and still don't know how.
I'm friends with a few people who have their masters in it and when I met them they told me that I apparent;y have natural talent in it.
Since then, I've been reading up on it and a random crazy old woman has walked up to me in the street talking of my "Healing Hands."
That put me off it.
My problem is, It's not that I don't have the patience to learn.
It's that I don't have the £1432034210430321 you need to do it up to Masters.
Dunno what to do tbh.
