"They should," he agreed, marking the idea in his mind. So far the two toddlers he'd met were... A little more than strange emotionally, but maybe since this one was kind of strange physically he'd be a little more normal. If that even made any sense. "So what about yourself, have any plans for when he can be home alone for more than a few hours? Maybe I could convince you to go out with me sometime, dessert doesn't seem to have been a disaster."

"I actually hadn't even thought about it," she replied, taken off guard at the question. What was she going to do when Gavin could actually do whatever he did on his own? It was a thought most mothers didn't dare entertain.
"Definitely more time for fun things," she considered, trying to think about all the activities she used to do before she graduated. "I'd definitely be able to go places. Maybe I'll make some more friends that know interesting things to do around here. Plans are always better when they include more than one person."

"Eh, yeah." Ok, so she hadn't quite gotten his message. Oh well, there'd be plenty of chances later on. He was almost done with his pie, but there was still most of the coffee left, so they didn't have to leave in a hurry, "Maybe once everyone gets to know each other a little better we could do day trips. You know, get everyone out of the complex for a while. Maybe I'll see what the closest beach from here is, don't really remember, but I know it's past my hometown."

So focused on the first part of the previous question, she was blissfully unaware that she'd missed the second part about meeting him again.
Her pie had been devoured. She was scraping the plate with her fork, trying to get the last few remnants. Day trips would be fun.
"That sounds like a great idea," she smiled in agreement. She had gone to the beach a few months ago, one of her very few getaways. Sitting on the beach, reading or jumping in the sea. Loads of fun. "I'll even help you plan it."

Alright, so maybe he was getting ahead of himself. But concentrating on the good things that could come in the future was better than focusing on the bad ones he'd eventually have to deal with. "It'd be fun. We could all drive for a day or so, any longer would be horrible with a bunch of kids, and maybe stay at my parents' house for the night, then make the rest of the trip," he mused, a bit surprised that a girl had eaten something faster than him. Of course, apple pie was best savored, so he was taking his time.

Now she was getting excited. Beach party sounded like fun.
"We would need cars, surfboards, a lot of towels, and tons of sunscreen" she said eagerly, going into planner mode. Now she would actually have to go shopping for a decent swimsuit. Chairs, umbrellas, frisbees...the list of all the stuff they'd need was endless. "So far I've met about six other guardians. Including us, that's eight. There might even be more that I don't know about. Can your parents' house hold us all?"

Stephan laughed a bit at the question, for some reason finding it funnier because he knew that the house could hold them and a lot more. "Thanks to my mom's hobby, it should be no problem. Since she's retired from being a designer she's started having extra rooms added onto the house just so she can decorate them. Last summer we fit the whole frat house in with no one sleeping on the floor," he explained, finishing up the last bit of his pie, "And since the kids will be old enough by then, maybe we could let them loose in the mall to find their own stuff, bet they'd appreciate that."

"Really?" she asked incredulously at the thought of someone adding rooms to a house as a hobby. "Your parents' house must be really nice. I'd love to see it."
She momentarily entertained the thought of letting Gavin loose in the mall. But what about his wings? Maybe she'd figure out some way to hide them, or something to that extent.
"We'd have to give them all a very limited amount of money to shop with, or else they'll run us all bankrupt," she laughed at the idea. She'd probably give Gavin no more than thirty dollars, lest he go and buy something hideously expensive and unnecessary. "Especially Haki. Even as a toddler she has very expensive tastes."

Stephan shrugged, "Expensive tastes or no, kids have to learn to handle money eventually. I never really liked the idea of carrying cash, so I guess I'll end up giving my kid a card. With a limit, of course, probably max it at a few thousand an instance." Malls were good experiences for kids, usually at least. All sorts of odd people trolled around them, it'd be a good way to learn about the word. Or at least the world of mall rats. "I'd be more worried that they'd do something stupid like trying to catch a bus and go by themselves.

"True, very true," she nodded in agreement. They'd have to learn how to spend money responsibly somehow. Her playing the overprotective, controlling mother won't solve that issue, as hard as it is to resist.
"I wouldn't put it past them to do something like that," she said, imagining a bunch of kids piling onto a bus. "At least it wouldn't be hard to find them if they did. It'd be pretty hard for them not to stand out and possibly get caught. I mean, how could you hide a boy with wings or a girl that's half-wolf?"
Then again, being the crafty kids they're already proving themselves to be, they'd probably figure out something.

"You're right on that one," he laughed, "Not exactly the kind of kids you see on the milk carton everyday." Alright, so that comment was a little old, but it was true. "Wonder how long the trip would really take," he mused, pouring himself another cup of coffee, "I mean, logically it should only take two days or so, but kids usually want to take a lot more stops, run around and all that."

"Well," she began to calculate, "Depending on how far away the beach is, and how many stops actually are along the way...it'd probably be about two or three days."
For a moment, she considered what it would be like to be in a car with other guardians and a bunch of kids. There would definitely be parts where she'd want to rip her hair out, but it would be an unforgettable experience to say the least.
"After that long, I'm sure we would all have had enough of being trapped in the car with maniacal children."

Taking a sip, it was still surprisingly warm, he nodded. "I'm sure I'll be kissing the ground at least." Setting the mug down, he thought something over, "Maybe my next car should be a convertible, what do you think? One'd be good for trips like that. Roomy, airy, smooth handling." Nothing in his mind was telling him she wouldn't be interested in cars, so he just kept on his thought. At the very least she could help him choose a color.

It only made sense that the conversation would transfer over to cars, considering they were planning on a huge road trip. She didn't know much about cars, but she didn't mind talking about them.
"I'd say yes only if there was the option of bringing the top back up," she reasoned. Her dad had a convertible once. Not her favorite car in existence, but it was still nice. "It's really hard to talk in a convertible with the top down, and for long trips all that air blowing in your face could get annoying."
She wasn't shooting down the idea, but she always thought it was a good idea to look at things realistically.

"True enough, I'd probably get a soft top with a curved windshield, like a 50s Porsche Speedster. It'd be fun to restore too," he said, drifting a bit off topic, "And I bet the kids would like the way it looked." Not entirely practical for day to day, but it would be fun once in a while. He'd probably end up getting some kind of soccer-mom minivan for day to day errands, with how many kids it seemed there was going to be around.
