Time passed quickly, as it had a way of doing. Artemis was happy as could be with his mate, and even happier when their family gained two new additions: a daughter and a son. Their very first children. His very first son, in any lifetime. He couldn't have been much prouder.
... but that didn't stop him from feeling sort of relieved when Anumati finally seemed to tucker himself out, flopping down at his father's paws for a well-earned nap. Talk about your endless wells of energy!

Kagami plopped down in the den next to Artemis, a tired look on her face after practicly following her son around... making sure he didn't get into trouble. "Anumati's alittle trouble-maker... isn't he..." she whispered to Artemis as Varali padded over slowly, dropping herself quietly between her mother's paws.

"Yup." Artemis couldn't stifle the grin from appearing on his maw, ruffling the little tuft of fur on his son's head fondly. "The biggest little troublemaker we could ever could have asked for."
Anumati rolled over, grunting in his sleep, paws twitching as though he were running. What the rambunctious little bundle of fur was dreaming about was anyone's guess. Figured he'd find a way to be noisy while he was fast asleep.

"Anu's running in his sleep." Varali said very softly, calmly, as she looked up at her parents, nuzzling against her mother's chest slightly.
Kagami smiled down at her daughter. "Yes he is..." she nodded, nuzzling the moon-daughter's neck lightly, before turning and licking Artemis's muzzle lightly.

"Luna.. where have you gone to?" Kaminah's voice said softly as she gazed up at the sky. She truely, wasn't sure. She hadn't seen the other moon lioness in a long time. She sighed at this.

Artemis chuckled, being careful to keep his voice low. When Anumati finally did fall asleep, woe to the one who got him up before he was good and ready. He nuzzled his queen with a low purr before turning his gaze to his daughter, dipping his head a ways so there were on a bit more of an even standing with a soft smile. "So, did you guys have fun?"

Dark blue-black coat made its way through what seemed like dream like fog. Deep pink secertive eyes danced around as she looked at everything, it seemed like dream. Coming back to these lands, his scent was heavy here, her heart ached as she closed her eyes. Her different shade of orange flakes quivered softly as the wind swarmed around her, causing the faint fog to thicken around her form.
"I dont think I should be here.." She whispered softly as she paused, sniffing the air once more. His scent, something she remembered so well..one of the many things she still clung to. Memories, past lives, she sighed heavily. What on earth was she doing here, she should just turn back and leave. It would be better wouldnt it?

Artemis stiffened as a familiar scent wafted through, dancing on the breeze. Faint, just barely enough to be detectable over the hub of smells that usually hung about his home... but to him, it might as well have been electricity. It couldn't be. Could it?
It would be easier to ignore it. Just pass it off as his imagination, leave it at that. So much easier...
If only it was that simple. The moon king sighed, pulling himself to his feet. "Kagami... " He leaned over, nuzzling his mate affectionately and giving her a lick on the cheek. "I need to check something out real quick, okay? Stay here. I'll be back soon."
Anumati was awake and aware the second his father began to move, stretching himself out from nose to tailfeathers. He grinned wide, waves of eagerness seeming to pour off the kitten. "Can I come too Dad?" He got no answer from Artemis, who by then was already dashing off to see if his mind really was playing tricks on him. But seemingly, no answer was answer enough for the young prince; he took off right after him without a second thought.
He didn't honestly expect to find her there. By the time he'd hit the halfway point, he'd already convinced himself it was a waste of time. Why was he even bothering? Running off to the borders like this after a ghost of a scent on the wind... he had a mate, a family, a pride to look after. For all he knew, she did too. Nothing was going to be there. Nothing.
Which was what made it so much more shocking when he saw her standing there, back in his lands, back in his life, just as simply and seamlessly as she'd appeared from the start... and the same as she'd vanished without a trace, much less a word.
He backed up a step or two, disbelieving, unable to disguise the shock and hurt in his eyes. "L-Luna...?"

He stood there, infront of her. An ivory coated prince she thought as a single tear slid down her cheek. "A-a-Artemis.." She stumbled over his name, it was something she didnt allow herself to say anymore. Ache, pain and heartbreak etched over her features.
Was this a dream, another false fantasy. Her mind played the worst tricks on her, she stepped forward. She wanted to touch him, make sure this was dream. Not another haunting nightmare that pulled him away from her the second she stepped towards him. Her heart cried out awaiting the same wound to be ripped open once again...

Seeing her like that only made Artemis' heart ache that much more. Not in this life, his past life, or any other could he stand to see her in such pain. Luna was such a strong cat -- lioness.
He'd thought before, idly, not with any real seriousness, what might happen if she ever did return. Not that he'd ever expected it. But he'd imagined in spite of himself how it might have gone, what she might have done, what he'd said if she did. Seeing her standing there, that tear running down her cheek... because of him? Any rebuttal, any witty lines he might've had stowed away, fell away with that single tear.
As she headed towards him, he knew he should have moved. Backed away, set the line, told her the facts straight out. But much as his brain screamed, shock and a lifetime of love kept his legs still as stone.

"Artemis..." Kagami's voice called over to him softly, after he had been gone for quite some time. She had left the den, fallowing after him, Varali resting carefully on her back, Anumati right there as well. She didn't want to leave him behind...
She walked over to the white male, nuzzling his neck softly, her nose against his cheek for a moment, before she turned her gaze, seeing Luna. Her eyes widened for a moment... The lioness... was, back?
Varali looked around her mother's head, her gaze falling apon the form of the purple lioness, noting the moon on her forhead... Just like the moon on her father's forhead... just like the moon on her's and her brothers.
Kaminah's eyes also fell on the form of Luna, and she smiled dimly. So... she didn't have to serch at all... There was the one she was looking for... there, right infront of her. "Luna..." she let her voice whisper through the wind, her silver coat glowing like the moon.

Pain etched into her features as she watched Kagami nuzzle the lion of her heart. Ears pinned back, she stepped back. She'd rather have her dreams than watch this nightmare, she snorted and shook her head back. Several tears streamed down the once strong and powerful lioness's cheeks, she'd been softened by the idea of love..only to have it crush her for her weakness. The sound of her name being said caught her attention, she now held the regal and stone like mask, hiding the emotions that threatened her even more. "Kaminah...atleast your still here..and not betraying.." she said, her tones as distant as the moon from the earth.

When he felt Kagami's nuzzle, the moon king's legs felt as though they'd gone from stone to jelly. He took a shaky breath, trying his hardest to recompose himself... but it was shattered when Luna looked at him that way, sending another dagger into his chest. Artemis ended up looking away, eyes shut.
It was when her words to Kaminah reached him that he stiffened, fur bristling and eyes narrowed as he looked back to the dark lioness. 'Betray'? She'd come in, turned his life upsidedown, gone missing without a word... and he'd betrayed her?
"I'm not the one who left." He tried his hardest to sound icy, distant. But it was more hollow than anything, and even then a touch of pain worked its way into his voice. Artemis leaned lightly against his mate, blinking furiously to try and to rid himself of the ominious burning lurking in his eyes. He couldn't -- wouldn't cry.
Anumati looked from Artemis to Luna and back again, looking completely perplexed. "What's going on? Why's everybody acting so weird?!, " he belted out, shameless as always. He hated being out of the loop!
