Marc scowled. Nodding his head, he reached for the money again. "Ismet, thank you for taking care of Haki." he said. It was only a couple of bills (didn't want to corrupt the kid yet). "Buy yourself something nice."

The man was hardly paying attention to the situation any more, and left as quickly as he could to check the cameras.

--

Thorn smiled. This man was feeding him the lines! Nodding his head and wearing a look of rueful resignation, he shook his head. "It is sad." he remarked. "When love, and passion can turn to distaste. We have a good working relationship because he works for me. But privately." he shrugged. "It was never this bad when he was single."

Simply implying, of course. That maybe Hadrian had something to do with it.

Hadrian frowned down at his drink, his mind coming to the conclusion that he was ruining Marc's relationships with friends - because, well, it had seemed like the two were quite friendly when they'd been introduced.

And then another thing occurred to him, after Thorn said that first line. Love and passion turn to distaste...it was with a slight bit of fear that considered that happening with Marc and him. And after what he had said tonight - well, it didn't seem so unlikely.

--

The cameras, were they to be checked, showed nothing out of the ordinary. Except that a certain mage was not in any of them - and from the looks of his office, hadn't been there since earlier in the day.

Marc cursed loudly and strongly enough that Haki stirred. And so he shut up almost immediatly. First things first. Take her home. An odd thought that maybe Hadrian was at his other home entered his mind- maybe, hopefully? So he walked towards the car to commence on the journey.

--

Thorn smiled. The expression was promising, for himself. Nodding his head as he took a bite of his food, he wondered how long it would take for the man to get drunk.

It was fine, though. Thorn had patience.

"He can be considerate." he said slowly, thoughtfully, as if talking to himself. Can. But was he, all the time? "And how are you, Hadrian?"

It wouldn't take much longer, really. Since Hadrian hadn't realized the drink was alcoholic, he hadn't been moderating how much he drank - and the end result was that he was already becomming slightly tipsy.

How was he?

It seemed an out of place comment, and the scientist glanced at Thorn, puzzled. But giving a quiet sigh, he sought to answer.

"I'm...well, I suppose I'm alright. It's been strange, lately."

His relationship with Marc had suddenly become a rollar coaster - switching between fantastic and loving, to arguing and angry...and tonight seemed one of the lowest points they'd had, so far.

Thorn nodded. His voice was slurring slightly. But not enough. Not yet. "It has been, hasn't it?" he remarked. Motioning for the bill so that he wouldn't have to worry about it later, he handed over a black credit card to another server.

The original was still busy trying to get Hadrian drunk.

"But everything will look up soon, I promise." he said gravely.

Thorn could be serious too.

Hadrian was most certainly getting drunk by this point. If he'd been thinking straight, he would notice - but that would destroy the whole point of getting drunk. The more he drank, the less he paid attention to the fact that he was getting drunk.

And of course, he hadn't eaten much; getting drunk on an empty stomach.

Offering a slight, absentminded smile to Thorn, he spoke.

"...I hope so."

((We can jump to when he's well and fully drunk, if you want to skip to it XD))

((XD))

When the man returned with the bill, he nodded his head, taking back his card and signing. So what if all the food was barely touched? It didn't dent his wallet and soon, Thorn would have to know if the money had bought him something else.

"Slainte." he said, raising his own shot glass. "A toast."

He had a distinct feeling that Hadrian had drunk more than a bottle, but he wasn't sure. Lifting his to his lips and taking the creamy sweetness, he got up to move to Hadrian's side.

"Come, let's get you home."

He would see how well this man walked, before figuring anything else out.

Hadrian had probably drank more then a bottle, by this point. So as he stood to join Thorn, it was no wonder that he was having trouble figuring out distances with his vision.

What was surprising, was that was able to take a few steps before stumbling - steadying himself by reaching out and grabbing whatever was available. Which happened to be Thorn's shoulder.

The mage didn't have the best depth perception when completely sober - so it was no surprise that he had trouble walking when completely smashed.

"Oh - ah..s.orry."

Blinking at Thorn, there was an unconcious flush in his cheeks. If nothing else, alcohol had the effect of making Hadrian even more trusting then when sober, if that was possible.

Thorn chuckled, shaking his head. "Hadrian." He said wryly. "I do believe that you're drunk." it was said with some amusement, and as he took him by the arm to gently lead him out, he frowned.

"And." he said lightly. "I believe that this is no condition for a man to go home."

The resteraunt was full of people, and as Thorn pulled the mage closer, he lead him outside, into the crisp air. "My car is here, mage. Please. Let me assist you."

The driver popped out to open the door, and Thorn smiled.

"That was alco'lic?"

Some strangely innocent puzzlement showed on Hadrian's face, but it was quickly passed over. And in his fogged mind, he never suspected Thorn of anything at all, except being helpful.

After all, the man was being so nice - he didn't have to help him out, after all.

Accepting Thorn's assistance, he entered the car with no concerns about it, throwing a smile at the other man as he did so.

"Thank you."

Thorn smiled. Slipping in next to him, he nodded his head. "You're welcome, Hadrian." he responded, and leaning over him (as close as he could) he pulled out a snifter full of a darkly sinful liquid.

"It's a long journey, Hadrian. Are you thirsty?" his eyes gleamed, but he believed Hadrian was far gone enough.

More or less.

It was a car with enough room to stretch out the legs. But that was it.
And as Thorn reached over to his own side for two glasses, it was soon realized that with two people, two grown up men, the car wasn't that big after all.

"I'll be having one myself." he responded. "It's a mild concoction with some ginseng and ginger. Clear's out whatever you've eaten, and is good for your health."

Never mind the whisky that was mixed with it to make it easier to swallow.

It had been on the tip of his tongue to refuse, at first - assuming that the drink was alcoholic. And even as drunk as Hadrian was, he didn't think getting even more drunk was a good idea.

But as Thorn explained what was in it, he went ahead and agreed. Never even considered that the other man may be 'excluding' a certain ingredient to it.

"That does sound good," With a cheerful nod at Thorn, he waited for it to be poured.

Pouring two generous cups, he smiled, adding a scoop of honey from something on the side. "Honey." he explained. "It helps it all go down. Tonics can be like that, hard to swallow without a bit of sweetness" Besides, at Hadrian's state, he had a feeling that the honey might hide the last of the alcohol.

For now.

Handing a cup over, he nodded. "Slainte." he smiled, replaced the snifter in the little container, and raised his own for a toast.

"To better times."

Because tonight, Thorn was going to change things.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 06, 2006 8:22 am

"Better times."

Raising his glass as well, Hadrian then drank it - giving an approving nod at the taste. Thorn had managed to hide the taste of the alcohol. Or it could have been that Hadrian was simply too drunk to notice.

"This is a a nice car."

A bit random, but that was just the way his mind worked when drunk. Admiring the interior of the car, he continued to take a sip here or there; he would finish it soon, of course. If he had known it to be alcohol, it would be a different case - but...

He didn't.

"It is, isn't it?" moving closer, but only a barely perceptible tilt of his upper body, he grinned. "It is a very nice car."

Things were moving along faster than he had expected. "Hadrian, are you tired?" he asked unexpectedly. "I'll wake you up when we reach home."

Home. But the question was... whose? Meeting the eyes of the driver in the window (his men were far too used to Thorn's habits by now) he nodded his head.

Home, Jeeves.
